professor Dretchen is wonderful! i had so much fun in her class. she relates lectures to her life which made them more interesting to listen to. also, she is the only professor who recgonizes me and still says "hi" even 3 symesters after i took her class. very easy to get along with!

I love this lady, shes so funny and down to earth. Shes a very understanding teacher and while her tests are not the easiest you can do well if you just study... I've NEVER read a book in her class... it's all lecture, I think you'd like her

nice and fun teacher. makes psychology seem interesting. you do NOT need the textbook in her class, she puts her notes onto WebCT, which you print out for the whole semester. also gives out half of what is on every test, which is 50 multiple choice questions every time. picked psy for a social science at the last minute, but she made it interesting

Wow I am taking her for Alcohol and Drug Abuse next semester because I loved her Child Psych class! She makes the subject interesting, and it's incredibly easy since she gives you half the test before you even take it! She's down to Earth also. Highly recommended.

Take notes and be there for review day and you're good! make sure to turn your cell off! she's great!

Ms. Dretchen is an excellant teacher. Her classes are interesting and she lectures to where you understand it not a bunch of mumbo jumbo. Took her for Psy 101. Am taking her again for the rest of my psy. classes.

I love her. She is a great teacher and her lecture and the story's to go with them make understanding what she is talking about easy. She doesn't take roll everyday but it you miss her lecture it effects your test grade. She uses powerpoint so you don't even need a textbook. I recommend you to take her.

Ms. Dretchen is really good, but I was very disappointed with the class. It's abnormal psychology! It's about crazy people! It should be lots of fun, but it really is bone dry and kind of a drag. Easy class though.

She gives extra credit and curves test grades, but I was disappointed when I looked at my grade and I had made a B. I called her and my gpa was 89.4 and she would not give me an A.Other than that she is a very good teacher. Turn you cell phone off though.

Prof Dretchen is one of those rare professors that remembers what it was like to be a student and will take the time to help you succeed. She is very out-going, caring, and approachable. You can NOT go wrong by taking her and you'll learn on top of that!! I am so glad she came in to our class as a replacement six weeks in the semester. Top rated!

She is the nicest lady I have ever met. Abnormal Psych is tough but she makes it seem so easy. All you gotta do is read the notes and you will pass this class for sure.

I took her for PSY 231 on video. She is GREAT!!! She is very nice and understanding. I would take her for any PSY classes.

Wonderful Professor, I loved her class. She made it very interesting and fun. You will have one project that is very easy, and 5 tests which are over her powerpoints. She also drops one low test score.

I love this professor!!! She was awesome.. always had stories to go with the material, really knows her subject, and understands that her students have lives.. never gives you tons of work.. I don't think I ever had homework in her class.. and she is always available to speak with if you have trouble or need help.

This woman knows what she is doing! She makes learning the subject enjoyable and easy. We cover the information from power-points she has made and you can just print them out and study from the slides, no need for the book. If you pay attention in class and study hard you will not have a problem getting good grades on the tests,i've made Bs so far!

She was my favorite teacher of them all. She was very friendly. Your test come from your notes but for extra study help the book was good as well. And if you didnt understand something she was very generous to go over it again.

The only thing I didn't like about this teacher was her test--they were so tricky and hard. There wasn't 'one' right answer.

She is an awesome teacher. She's funny and uses examples for her teaching so you will understand it. Teaches from PPT notes so you really don't use the book much. I'll admit, her tests are not the eaiest, but if you pay attention and take notes, you will can make an A!

She knew her stuff by psychology to me was boring. Had 5 tests and got to drop the lowest. Her reviews and power points don't always reflect the exams so if you want to score 100% on the exams buy the book. Otherwise, leave it on the shelf. If you can score a good grade on the homework and paper then B's on the test will get you an A in class.

She is a really great teacher. She knows her stuff! Don't expect to get by easy, it is a difficult class but she is very helpful and kind. Make sure you're ready to take notes and study! I would recommend her to anyone.

Very smart & knows her area. Studied at Vandy & has lots of examples. Answers Qs, uses PP & videos in class, tells you what to study for the tests. We had 2 essays over material she gave us. A pleasure to be in her class. I wish she taught more classes!

LOVE her! Took her for general psych and for life span. Got A's in both. She definitely knows what she's talking about. YOU DON'T NEED THE BOOK! She will tell you you do but honestly everything you need to know for her tests comes straight from her powerpoints. Make sure you write down examples she gives you, it will help you remember terms.

This teacher was one of the best I have had at VolState. She was genuinely interested in each students' needs and was very funny. I took the 5 week summer course, so it was a bit intense, but she is really easy if you study! Her tests are based off her power points and maybe a few odd questions from videos in class or the book. Overall, amazing! :)

Professor Dretchen's tests are from the powerpoints and some concepts in the book. If you study you will do well. There is a paper that is a DEFINE,DESIGN,DO,& EVALUATE thing but it's nothing too intense. If you study you will succeed. Her class isn't hard. Professor Dretchen is AMAZING! Psych is already so interesting but she makes it even more so. TAKE HER CLASS! You don't really need the book, all of her tests come straight from her lectures and power points. She has got a system and it works. Take good notes, including the real-world examples she gives, study the powerpoints and you will be good!

She puts her PowerPoint outlines on E-Learn for you to study ahead. She may have something on the test that is in your textbook, so glance or skim over in before her lectures and tests. There's only tests and one paper in the class, so if you're like me and not a good test taker, then highlight key points in printed PP notes. Good Luck! :)

Highly recommend as professor. Can seem intimidating at first but once you talk to her she is actually very helpful and friendly. Her lectures were always very interesting and easy to understand. She gives a study guide before all tests and all of the tests are multiple choice. Her final was tough, but she was not a tough grader at all on it.

Professor Dretchen is an amazing person and teacher. Has some of the most interesting and informative lectures because she makes them interesting. She is so helpful and has lengthy power points that cover almost if not all material on the test that she suggest you bring in. If you study, you will make good grades.

The lectures are interesting , print out the powerpoint to make it a bit easier. Tests are difficult don't underestimate them. I made a lot of flashcards! She cares about her students and will try to help. There is a little extra credit but count on studying hard for tests to get good grades.

Particular about not having phones out in class. Read the chapter before the tests. Attendance isn't mandatory but a lot of questions on the test are from things she said in class. Powerpoints make her easy to follow.

Professor Dretchen really taps into your thinking level and makes you ask questions you never thought of before. Her class setting is strict such as no phones and laptops, but i think that personally for me helped not having the distraction. I has her for Psych Adjustment which only had about 12 students, so it was intimate and very enjoyable!

Amazing teacher. Had her for multiple psychology classes, each one was great. Tests are all based off of her power points which she puts online. Study those and you will get an A. She is obviously passionate about her job, she is pretty funny, and all around a great teacher. You won't regret taking her for any class.

Professor Dretchen is an awesome prof, I had her for intro to psychology and learned more in that class than any class I have ever taken. She has an awesome personality and her tests aren't too hard especially if you pay attention and study, she basically tells you everything that is on the test the lecture before!

Professor Dretchen is a model teacher. Shes passionate about what she does and it reflects on how she teaches. She explains things and communicates with students at a 1 on 1 level as much as class discussion about current events. I would take this class again if I were able to get another credit for it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I absolutely loved this class. She was by far my favorite teacher. She made my Psychology class so much fun and interesting. She is very passionate about her teaching. I learned more in her class than I did in any other class. She tells you what will be on the tests so you should pass with flying colors. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Amazing!! LOVED coming to this class. She has a strict no phone policy but her class is so interesting I dont mind!

There is only 5 assignments which makes it kind of easy to pass & fail. 3 essay question papers that were super easy, I made 100 on all of them. The midterm was kind of tough, but passable. Final is a little bit on the easier side. I didn't read the chapters, just studied the powerpoints and the little quizzes at the end of the chapters & vocab.

She made the material interesting and showed us how things applied to our lives. The tests included information she covered in her lectures. I did study the books prior to the tests because all the info cannot be covered in lecture. Overall, I really enjoyed her class.

Took this class online and it wasn't half bad. The weekly work required you to use your text book heavily. She's a tough grader, but fair. I found that she really thrived on answers that were logical, from the book, and opinionated also. Putting yourself into your work went a long way and she gave amazing feedback.

Shes awesome! She has some southern sass and wont put up with excuses, but shes overall very kind. Her lectures are interesting, funny, and I always learned so much. She makes Psychology so much fun and provides some new perspectives to people who are new to the subject. Highly recommend taking her class.

I have been enrolled at VolState for a little over a year and out of all of the professors I have dealt with, Vicki was my favorite for more reasons than one. I dont consider this class to be an easy A but if you apply yourself there is really no reason to fail. The material she provides is interesting and straightforward. Highly recommend!

She is a great professor. She will help you if you ask. She only had 5 grades in my class, four tests and one research paper. You do not use the book in class but, if you really want to understand the class I suggest reading the chapter before you go in for that lecture. It helps more than you would think. I would definitely take her again.

There is only 6 grades for the class all equaling 100 points (600 total) 5 tests one research paper. The research paper was the worst part of the class but she seemed to be a very easy grader on it because I got a 100. She will also drop your lowest test grade. Final is over chapter 13. All test are 50 questions multiple choice. Gotta study tho!

This class was very useful. Every lecture had real life stories to help students understand the concepts that were being taught. When we had to switch to online format halfway through the semester (covid), she made it as smooth of a transition as it could have been. All material was posted with extra resources & she was very easy to work with!!!

Super easy class, only have to read the textbook or the information given and write a paper each week. Tests aren't timed, no exams. She is a very easy grader. She gave me a 100 on each paper.
