Vivkie is a great teacher, she is very through and explains things well.
She is very organized and easy to follow. She teaches in a way that is easily understood. After lesson, she does many examples to clarify.
She's very effective and easy to follow. She's also very helpful during office hours.
I was a math minor and this was the class i struggled with the most. We just don't have a good, engaging stats prof at this university. I can find 'em in all other classes, just not this one.
Vicki was very helpful in math 110. She explains things very well and it is easy to understand. Not many of the other profs are willing to help as much as she is.
Vicki is a little goofy, but she only teaches you what you really need to know. Unlike other Math classes that teach you useless equations, she only teaches you what buttons on your calculator to use!!!
Likes to say mmmmkay
She tries, but her lectures are just sooo dull. I fall asleep every class...
Terrible! I had to take 110 over because of her, and now I'm getting a 98% with another professor.
If I could go back I don't think I would have taken this course just for Math Competancy. I understood about 2/3 of the time, but we covered A LOT of material. Whitledge is usually easy to understand. You will do okay if you go to class every day and do homework you'll do okay.
math's one of my worst subjects, her way of teaching helped me learn and actually understand the course material, if you go every day/do most of the homework you'll do well in class.
This class should not even be a math credit it was so easy. You don't even deal with math really, it is all about infinity and voting theory and tessalations. There are no real tests either...this class is an easy A.
She is the reason why I became a math minor. Fantastic teacher and I hope to have her as a teacher again. Before taking her I thought math would never be for me. Makes you work a bit, but in a way required in math (learning habits that pay off later on).
Amazing prof! I was so nervous about this class, but she is so helpful! She loves it when people ask good questions. Show her that you really want to understand the material, attend class, do the homework, and you'll do fine. Tests are difficult, but what stats test isn't? I totally recommend her for stats!
She's one of those highschool math team types, but her teaching skill is profound. She won't stop until you understand it, and she presents the material with clarity and direction. Notecards on all tests, few group quizzes where you can use all notes and book. Uses calculator for everything. Just make sure you get enough sleep before class.
Good teacher. Teaches how to use your calculator to solve the problems. Why other math teachers don't teach this way I will never know. Collects homework for grade, and there is a fair amount of it. Meaning not to much, but enough for you to learn the material. Tests are wierd but fairly graded. Easy to approach for help.
Very good prof! She is so helpful and she's a very straight-forward professor..meaning, she only gives homework problems that will show up on exams/quizes. She is very fair and is a great professor. If you do the work, you will do fine! She makes math not so dreadful!!! I'd recommend her to anyone!
Whitledge is a great professor. Everything about her class is straight forward. I felt like I learned something without feeling overwhelmed. Would definitely recommend taking her for Stats.
wonderful professor! she is ver helpful and almost always availble.i would reccomend her if takin stats becoz she is prbbly the best!!!
Prof. whitledge knows how to teach. she is very clear about what future classes will do with statistics and what you will really need in the real world. she prepares you for tests a week in advance and particapation grades really boosted my grade. use the i-clicker.
VICKI IS ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS ON CAMPUS! Her teaching makes sense. Actually, she puts shame to many many teachers at UWEC. She is the only decent professor for 246; the others are nut jobs that overload you with unecessary assignments. Shame on the University for not having more teachers like Vicki. Take her for 246 unless you enjoy suffering.
She is an amazing prof. I talked to friends with other profs and they were struggling. Vicki cared about how her students did and it showed by the way she explained material and prepared everyone for the exams.
If you do your job she'll do hers. I'm not a math person and was scared for this class, but she really wants everyone to learn. Study and ask for help. I highly recommend her!
Vicki is absolutely amazing! She truly cares about her students, and she is fun to talk to. I HATE math with a passion, but she pushed me through the class. She is an extraordinary teacher!
I thought she was actually a pretty decent prof. She is always willing to help. She doesn't grade homework but all of her quiz questions come directly from homework questions. So if you ask enough questions, she'll basically give you the answers to the quizzes. Overall, this class was not bad at all compared to what everyone told me!!
She's the best prof for stats. I originally took stats with a different prof and dropped because was failing and when I took it with Vicki I ended up getting an A. All of the notes are on D2L for you to print out and quizzes are straight from homework. Plus, she doesn't go crazy on homework assignments and the minitab assignments aren't bad either.
Whitledge is by far the best professor you can take for Stats. She's a Math Education background and actually interested in teaching. Plus one of the nicest and cutest math ladies out there!
Great prof! she is such a nice lady who is willing to help....make sure to visit her in her office hours if you have any questions! THE BEST!!!!!!!! she makes classes fun...im not a math guy at all but she made class great!
Whitledge is awesome for stats. She makes the course learnable and understands that most people are taking it just because it is required for most majors,
Professor Whitledge is such a wonderful professor! She makes the material very easy to understand, and is always more than happy to help if you have a question. Tests are not very hard and quizzes are just clicker questions that are taken directly from the homework, so if you do your homework, you will do very well! TAKE HER! She's the best!
really nice and helpful. there's no one else i'd rather take stats with then her.
This is the first year that Dr. Whitledge has taught this course, and I can say (it's midterm time right now) so far that the first part of the course is a struggle for a lot of people. After the first exam, things will start to click together. I can say that she's a great teacher and that she's very good when you ask her for help. Take her!
Professor Whitledge is by far the best stats professor you could take. She is extremely clear on what you need to know, and will go out of her way to help you with whatever you need. Definitely take her if you have the chance!
Take her. Its her first time teaching this class, and is doing a great job. I'm sure she'll do even better in future semesters as well. She teaches her class to help you under stand FM material and to do well on the actuarial exam. She BY FAR is the most helpful prof. outside of class hrs. Check hw answers, check takehome exam answers. Amzing
Awesome professor! If you have to take stats, take it with her. As long as you go to class (she keeps you engaged with clicker questions), do the homework, and study a little, it is an easy A.
As is typical of her classes (I took MATH 346, 347, and 350 with her), you are going to need to work hard to do well in her classes, but - as an Actuarial Science major - it's been well worth it. She's very good at explaining things and clearing things up when you ask her questions.
Whitledge is great to take if this is a GE class for you. She knows that most students have to take this class. I highly recommend going in and checking your homework with her. You have clicker quizes just about every other day, and they're straight from the homework. Extremely nice and willing to help too.
Stats is a really hard class but take Prof Whitledge. Really nice, extremely helpful and actually wants to help you pass. You don't need to bring your book to class, which is a plus. She assigns homework but doesn't collect it, does a few clicker questions instead. Definitely try to take her!
One of the BEST professors I've ever had. She was so helpful and actually cared about her students and their mastery of statistics. She was so kind and helpful. She explained everything so well, and our class was so much more prepared for the common final. Amazing.
Whitledge is great! She is super friendly, works really hard to teach you the relevant material well, and really helps with prep for the final too. All of her grading has been fair. Would definitely recommend her!
The best stats teacher on campus! She makes sure all students understand the material unlike other stats teachers. She doesn't make you do homework every week like other teachers do either. She prepares all her students for the final and her common final average percentage is the highest of all 246 teachers. Take her!
EXCELLENT Professor! Incredibly understanding and presents everything so well! I'm very thankful I took stats with her! Her tests are somewhat difficult, but she prepares you completely for them, no surprises. Definitely take her for Math 246!!
Extremely helpful teacher. Best math teacher I have had. Knows the material, and good at helping students. Great prof for actuarial majors!
Excellent professor! Not only very helpful, but very kind as well. I'd recommend her to anyone; best math teacher I've had so far!
Best professors ever had. She really goes out of her way to help students to understand the materials. She would approach you during class to ask if you have questions.
Great teacher, fair grader. If you plan on majoring in Actuarial Science make sure to enroll with this professor.
Statistics is a hard class no matter who you take it with, but Professor Whitledge made this class bearable! She is a very fair grader and is ALWAYS willing to help! I would definitely recommend taking her for MATH 246.
She was very willing to work with you to make sure you succeed! You can tell she really cares about her students. During work time she walks around to every student and asks if you have questions. She is very realistic and doesn't make you learn things that won't be helpful.
Professor Whitledge is honestly one of the most helpful professors I have ever had. She tells her students that you get out what you put in for the class. HOWEVER this class is no walk in the park. It does take a lot of effort on your part to get the grade you want
Very difficult class but she was very helpful and good at explaining the content.
you print off her notes, which are also your homework assignments she does the simple examples in class book questions are more difficult you do one section of the notes in 30 minutes of class if you have to take her: start homework early, take notes on a notebook and transfer to her notes/homework for future assignments, form a study group
The clicker questions in class are actually important, so do the homework before the quizzes, she gives the bare minimum for homework anyways, she's very clear and concise on what the subject material is. Only got annoyed once when people wouldn't shut up for 5 minutes on end.
One of my favorite professors at UWEC. She is very helpful both in and outside of class if you have questions. She wants everyone to do well and helps give back points where she can on exams. Doing well on the clicker questions/participating in class will definitely help boost your grade. Do the homework and you will do well on the in-class quizzes
One of the best professors I've ever had at UWEC. She's clear about her grading criteria and in her teaching process. She makes sure that every student understands each statistic concept. Do her homework and clicker questions and you will be doing fine in exams. I totally recommend her class to everyone!
Whitledge is a super helpful teacher. She offers a lot of extra credit and the quizzes are the homework answers so as long as you do homework you will get the points. If you need help she's always willing to offer help. She keeps you grades up to date and lets you know where you're at.
Professor Whitledge was an excellent teacher and made my learning of statistics enjoyable. She clearly explained all course material and was always available outside of class for additional help. I would absolutely recommend Professor Whitledge to any student taking MATH246
She is by far the best professor that I have had since coming to college. She gives you everything that you need to know for the exams in worksheet form or as a review, so studying is super easy. She also has experience teaching this class and knows what works best for students. Super nice lady that wants you to succeed! Would recommend!
Her class is really difficult however she gives out a lot of opportunities to bring your grade up with extra credit and test corrections
Whitledge is easily the best prof for stats. She is incredibly clear and concise with her lectures and I never came out of class confused. She prepares you incredibly well for every exam and I can't recommend her enough.
She really cares about her students and their grades. Gave us tons of opportunities to retake and correct our exams. She even offered a study table each week where she would help with homework questions. Homework assignments most days but they are group ones
If my math teachers in grade school had been like Vicki I would have loved math. Her D2L has study guides and class notes that help out. There is lots of homework but it isn't difficult to complete and it prepares you for everything you need to know. She wants you to understand the course and wants you to succeed. I absolutely recommend her!
She's super nice and very caring! Doesn't give you study guides, but is clear on what is going to be on the exam and what things won't be. She also does group exams and gives some extra credit on clicker questions.
Absolutely loved her. She was always prepared coming to class, lectures were extremely helpful and she always made sure to answer questions. Exams were difficult, but if you went to class and did the work then you would be fine. No study guides, but she hints often at what to study extra for. I wish I could have her for other classes.
I LOVED taking stats with Professor Whitledge. She explained concepts so well, was super caring and responsive, and graded very fairly. This was my favorite math class I've ever taken, and I don't like math. TAKE HER!! You won't regret it, and even if math is a weak spot for you, you'll still probably come out with a good grade in her class
If you are trying to do homework every night and attend class daily with no exceptions then this is the class for you. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field, but the remarks you receive from her when asking questions can feel degrading. She expects this class to be the only class you take during the semester.
Was hoping stats would help me with my art major but it didn't. Wouldn't take stats if you are a art major. She isn't the worst though
For the exams, she gives you a generously sized notecard and exams reflect the homework assigned. Her lectures are often 20-30 minutes long, there are pre-made note and homework sheets you print off, and there are 10-20 minutes at the end of class for homework. Overall, love this professor and she makes a very difficult subject easy to understand.
Best professor! This class is an extremely difficult class but this lady gives out extra credit. All you have to do is make sure you do your homework for when its due and study the reviews she gives you for the exams and your golden. For my final exam, if we did really well on it then she would replace that score with your worst exam score.
One of the best professors on campus! Her lectures make sense, expectations are clear, and prepares you very well for the final. Her classes have the highest averages on the common final. I would take her if you need this class. Funny professor too she makes the class enjoyable.
Great professor. Class is what you make it. Not easy but you definitely need to show up and participate. I grinded the whole year and even went to get extra help, but it was worth it. She is also very personable and funny if you're on her good side. Careful, she is strict with her rules.
Vicki is my favorite professor i've had at UWEC. She is so caring about her students and is a great professor. I recommend her for stats for anyone. Is never awkward to ask questions in her class and she is great at explaining. If you miss something go to her office hours and she will guarantee that you understand what you are confused on.
Professor Whitledge is such a caring professor. She is very organized, and truly wants her students to do well. She is very helpful in office hours, and makes the class very enjoyable/ relatable. I highly recommend!!
probably the best professor I've had. loves her job and really cares about her students.
Now I know this was the semester of covid-19, but that being said her response to emails and questions was by far the slowest of any professor I have had. Beginning of the semester she talked about how she was so ready for the semester to go online and she had everything planned out. I had to email her 4 separate times to just get a subpar response
Nice enough professor, but not great. Bad at explaining difficult concepts. Homework is not turned in, random questions are collected via iclicker. When class moved online, she was slow answering emails and required work to be turned in for tests, and then didn't accept my work because she "couldn't see the picture". Had to drop, set me up failure
If you struggle with math, Vicki is a great professor to have. She is incredibly understanding and wants to see you succeed. She even helps you calculate what you need to get on the final to get the grade you want! The iclicker questions can be annoying, but you'll be fine getting those points as long as you show up to class. Vicki is awesome.
she wants you to succeed, so she makes sure you aren't confused. she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, the clicker questions and the homework are both super helpful to learn the material. love her
She was a great professor! She told my class that she doesn't view you based on your grade or GPA and truly wants you to succeed. Allows a notecard/paper on exams and final and gives beneficial exam reviews/worksheets. iClicker questions are mandatory to raise your overall grade. Analyzes your grade for you and how to raise it for the final.
Dr. Vicki Whitledge will: - not make you buy the $200+ online textbook - use recorded lectures on the canvas page - offer extra credit on iclicker - create notes sheets so that you don't have to - cut out lessons and information that she feels is "too advanced" for elementary stats Easiest math class I've ever taken-- take her if you can.
Stats is a hard class, but she is there to help you. She is always smiling & genuinely cares about you & that you do well & she is more than willing to help you out when you need it, she even stays back after class to answer questions. There isn't nearly as much homework as other math classes I've taken & you also get class time to work on it.
stats is very hard go into her office hours she is willing to help. the start of the semester had 5 min quizzes we completed that corresponded with the homework at the end of class but that faded away by midterms. coming to class to complete the iclickers and doing good on the homework quizzes on canvas and in class will help your grade.
Dr. Whitledge is very compassionate professor. Lectures were guided by worksheets (you have to print these yourself!) and the homework assigned was incorporated within the worksheets. This class is very challenging and fast paced but she does a great job incorporating work days so that students can catch up. A notecard was allowed on each exam.
She is amazing. I would take her class again in a heartbeat. Do the online work and study for tests and you will do fine. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed in life. Her office hours are really nice if you need help.
Whitledge is an amazing professor and very competent in her discipline. She gives you everything you need and more to do well in the class and provides numerous chances to improve your grade. You can bomb a test in her class and still get an A if you put in the work. If you have her for stats or any other math class, you hit the lottery
I absolutely loved Professor Whitledge. She genuinely wants to see her students succeed and is accessible outside of class with her office hours. MATH 346 is a challenging class, but she makes it easier. Her tests are exactly like the homework and the review questions, and she clearly knows what she is talking about during her lectures.
Professor Whitledge was the best mathematics professor I have taken so far. She really cares about student success and notices all the hard-work we put in. The class is pretty heavily weighted for tests, but gives plenty of opportunities to improve your grade. MATH 346 was challenging at times, but I felt that her teaching methods worked very well.
She runs a flipped classroom. you watch videos outside class and then complete questions in class. She is very unclear about what she wants you to complete for a certain day and is super unhelpful when you try and ask questions.
Ignore the comment below. She's the BEST Stats professor ever! She's very kind and forgiving. Yes, this is a flipped classroom but everything is based on group work (group quizzes/hw), and when you ask her for help she will help you in every way. You can compare your hw answers with her before submitting the online hw quiz to get full points.
She makes it very clear what to do for every class. She has a schedule from the first class to the final exam of what will be learned/taught/reviewed each day. She has a flipped learning style in which you are expected to watch videos before class so you have an idea of what will be learned. SOOO caring and makes everything easily understandable.
I really enjoy Vicki as a prof, she tells it to you as it is without you feeling helpless in the end. A flipped format where you watch lecture videos outside of class and all class time is designated to group work and questions! 5 exams total and she offers 1 retake at the end of the semester. Corrections are available on all exams given.
Worst teacher we would watch videos of her teaching and not cover everything and then expect us to go into class knowing how to do the lesson. She would go around during class time to see if we had any questions. half of the class would have questions and would take a while to get to a student. at the end of every class their are clicker questions.
Professor Whitledge really cares about her students and how they do in the class. Her lecture style is different, but she wants you to succeed.
Professor Whitledge is kind and truly does want her students to succeed.I wouldn't take this course again only due to the fact that she does a flipped schedule. Had I known it was a flipped class, I would find another professor. I personally can't t learn from videos even if class the next day is dedicated to work time. This isn't her fault though!
This semester she tested out a flipped format where you watch all the lectures online before class then all of the class time is for asking questions and working with your group on the homework! if you show up and try she will help you succeed, the homework can seem a lot at times but use the class time wisely.
Homework is done in class so that you can ask questions while you do it, but she has short recorded lectures to watch before class every day. She gives examples, and problems done in class are used for attendance and extra credit, but she goes through every single one of them. Only problem: locks grades so you never know what you have in the class
Whitledge was AWESOME, the class was set up oppositely by having videos on content prior but it made for students to work together in class and be able to ask questions. At first, I was scared for the amount of work but she helped explain things smoothly and was very nice would recommend it to everyone!
Prof Whitledge is incredibly passionate about stats and helping her students. The classroom is flipped so be prepared to watch lectures outside of class. I recommend that you study the group quizzes/concepts for each chapter. Stats can be intimidating, but trust me, she makes it simple.
Class time is work time, there's zero class instruction. The videos posted for the class's content are vague, confusing and don't cover all the topics. It's very unclear what assignments are due and when. Better off teaching yourself from third-party sources.
Flipped Class - You have to teach yourself. Class time is for questions, but she doesn't answer questions well. She gets upset if you ask too many. She doesn't give enough time for tests, making getting a good grade nearly impossible. She is demeaning and not very kind to students.
It's a “flipped class” so she doesn't teach you anything during the mandatory class time. Don't worry though, you get an equally confused group to work with and hours of homework that you won't understand! Her tests are insanely long and you won't be able to finish them! Probably the worst prof I've ever had and we are not even halfway done.
vicki is very nice however the flipped classroom wasn't great for many people in my class
In this course, you are graded on 4 categories everyday compared to the usual 2 in a normal math class. The video lectures cover maybe 70 pages of material, leaving students 100 to figure out on their own with no examples or help for solving problems in an INTRODUCTORY math course. I suggest only taking this class if required for your degree.
Professor Whitledge makes stats engaging. Though the flipped format takes some adjusting, she's super helpful and wants you to succeed. I found Unstuckstudy great for reviewing concepts before class.
The class has a flipped format, so she doesn't actually teach you anything. Her videos contain a lot of mistakes, and when you ask questions, she is very unhelpful and demeaning. Sadly, the dean of students won't do anything, and she is the only probability professor.
I was terrified to take stats going in, but Dr. Whitledge made it so doable! She has a flipped classroom, which I really enjoyed because it allowed class time to be focused on actually utilizing the material. Super caring, never made me feel dumb, and taught at a level that was easy to understand for everyone. Truly 10/10!
I loved whiteledge. She does a reverse style class, so you watch videos before class and then do assignments in class. She never lectures, which is nice, but she will explain certain topics if needed. She also walks around the room the whole time to answer questions.
I really do not like math, but Whitledge is a great professor and made the class enjoyable.
Professor Whitledge is a very nice women who is passionate about teaching math. Her classes are flipped, so if you have a difficult time doing work on your own I would not recommend this class. She gives you class time to ask her questions and to do group work. Most Friday's she gives extra credit just for showing up.
The flipped format was awesome! I ended up getting to leave class early almost everyday. Professor Whitledge cares about all of her students and does lots to help you succeed!
Whitledge was a great professor and the flipped format worked really well for me even though I wasn't expecting it would at first. Homework is consistent but not hard. Be prepared to do 15-30 minutes of homework every school night and if you can do that your grade will be fine.
Uses flipped format, but it is very effective. Genuinely cares about students and their grades in the class. Extra credit sticker Fridays make the class more fun. Very good at answering questions and explaining harder concepts throughout the course. Recommend taking this class!
