reads from the book
Great teaching skills. Extremely Narcissistic
Gives study guides for the tests... need I say more?
very arrogant and unfriendly...not nearly as wonderful as she seems to think she is.
while taking her class i discovered that i could sleep with my eyes open.
It bad when you don't have a choice but to stay in a boring, unclear, confusing class. I suggest reading the chapters and sleeping during lecture.
Great clothes. That's about it! She thinks she has "arrived" and will enlighten us all! Hallelujah, I feel it! PhD = Pretty Haughty Dame!
Rude, arrogant, her way or the highway, don't dare try to ask a question about the syllabus...it's her class...how dare anyone pressume to know what they are talking about unless she has first "enlightened" the class. very unapproachable.
This class is a joke. What a snooze-fest. You don't even have to read the material; just use the "study guide" she gives you. She has a major attitude and thinks she rules the world. She's extremely disorganized and forgetful.
Maybe you will do better in her class the second time around.
Pretty easy teacher, gives lots of extra credit, and gives study guides for the tests.
very boring, if she didnt take attendance in class i would recoment skipping every day and just reading the chapters, because that's about all she does in class.....seems to have quite the attitude at times too
She is a woman who knows what she wants and she knows what her class is exactly going to be like. Tends to have an attitude at times and can be very strict with things. Dont ask about the syllabus.

NOT clear with instructions. Gets classes confused. Will tell one class one thing and then expect the other to know. Knows her stuff but not organized enough to teach it. Don't take unless have to!!!

Do not listen to anyone below. I did not try and got an A. Need I say more?
Is not helpful. Don't ask any questions because she'll make you feel like an ant on the bottom of her shoe. Changes info all the time but won't let the students know. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
Great teacher. Knows her info.made the class fun and interesting. Doesnt let you out early though. But fair in grading and teaching
I had her for personality and she was great! She did have an attitude at times, but most other times she was smiling and really made the class fun!
Very beautiful woman. You will be more interested in looking at her than paying attention to what she is saying. She is very clear about what she wants and she wants you to do exactly what she says. But, the class was very interesting to me. She does, however, have strong opinions.
just follow her instrucyions and youll have an easy a!
prof. williams can be mean at times, but overall her class is easy. the group projects and esp. the class debates are fun, which is about half the semester. tests are pretty easy, she gives reviews before each one.

I totally agree that the class is easy, and you should get an A, but she seems to think that she has to have a certain # of A's, B's, etc. It doesn't matter if you have an A, becausa at the end you'll get what she feels like giving.
Encourages clas discussions and does interactive projects in class which keep it interesting. She has a reputation for being mean but she was not bad.
She was unclear as to her instructions for projects, as well as written assignments. The class however was easy.
Wonderful- A lot of fun- it is an easy course b/c she gives you a study guide before every exam. Just pay attention and you can pull out an A. FYI- she loves Joint Enrollment students
she is a GREAT teacher! just do as she says in her handout and you will pass easily. i have never found her to be racial or hard as some people have stated and i am a white feamale! take her classes-they are fun!
Great teacher of diversity! Better than expected. Very interactive. She's hard to gauge at times but seems to warm to you after a while. She has my full respect for teaching such a difficult class so well. I think the race thing that other ppl mentioned is their problem, not hers.
I love her! She's easy if you do you're work...her grading scale, I didn't like. But I passed her class with a breeze
Comes off as "woman power." She has a very direct personality, which can be intimidating. Read for the class because she likes to call people at random. Test are easy because she reviews them with you.
Others are right, this class is easy. You should get an A if you try, but this isn't the case. At the end she seems to pick a grade for you. Seems to think that there has to be a certain number of A's, B's, etc, and if you've breathed wrong then you get one of the lower grades. AVOID!!!!
Very nice, very easy. Hardly ever studied and got an A. All you have to do is read the book, do the study guide and you are all set. I would finish 50 multiple choice question tests in less than 15 minutes. She is very pretty and a nice dresser too!
Easy grade..If you want to walk on egg-shells, then I recommend her. Just Alittle to intimadating for my cup of tea...
She is the most interesting professor at ASU. I have no idea what is going through her head at all. Taken 3 classes from her and have been impressed with all. And SHE IS NOT ****...I'm white and have no problems. Take black psychology...it's a very interesting class.
She is very easy to listen to, but when it comes to grading watch out!!! I had an A, but like the others have said she seems to think she has to have a certain number of A, B, C, etc. When confronted she could not justify the grade she gave me, and was very upset that I dared to question her. AVOID!
The classes I had with her were difficult as was she. She does not like to be disagreed with, she expects the 2 hours of study time and that does not guarantee a good grade--You ABSOLUTELY MUST study to pass.
I have several problems with Dr. Williams. First off, she has a preoccupation with race. Diversity is about many aspects of society, but we spent more than 1/2 the sem. talking about racial issues, while avoiding homosex. and religion altogether. Second, she has biased grading. Two other students in my class had the same answs, but diff grade.
I thought i was signing up for human diversity but it ended up being being entirely about race and discrimination. she is a very biased and unfair grader. RUN AWAY!
Dr. Williams is an aquired taste. Her class is fun because of the aptmosphere, however her tests are rediculous. The questions are not well defined and it always feels as if there is more than one answer. She never fully taught a whole chapter and I'm still not sure what we learned. I would not take her again.
She is nice and gives extra credit but can be off the subject at times and will let the students sometimes teache themselves. Why do we pay her if we teach?
I don't care much for Dr. Williams...tests are too hard and unclear...not always sure what exactly she is asking...talks too much about race and not enough about other areas of diversity...not very informative except in race...offers extra credit but doesn't do too much good...answers can't always be found in the book so take good notes
she is a great professor...don't be scared away...
She didn't lecture at all. She assigned groups sections of the chapters and had the groups teach each other the material. Come test time the tests were freakishly specific and covered material not covered and at times couldn't be found in the text. She didn't give any points for participation although the entire course was participation.
RUN!!! She doesn't lecture and the tests are hard, nothing in that class is represented well from her.
Very helpful and wants you to do well. She wants her students to learn and always wanted us to do well no matter what!
A lot of busy work, but she has your best interest at heart. I would definitely take her again.
Dr. Williams is a hard professor. Only take her if you have the time to read every word of every chapter and every word of the notes. She's a very nice woman, and extremely helpful, but the tests are impossible! The questions are very open-ended, but answers are graded STRICTLY! When you think you've answered it - you really haven't.
Awful. I would never take her again unless I absolutly had to. Her tests are awful. I have never had a professor who's tests are so bad. Awful.
If you do your job and pay attentio to what she says, you'll pass. Just do the work!! She's a very good teacher!
Awful prof. Teaches STRAIGHT out of the book, word for word. Impossibly vague with notes, but outrageously detailed on tests. Takes off points for ANY error, including grammatical. When asked questions, answers exactly as the book teaches, giving zero new information. Very judgemental.. Knows who she wants to do well, and grades accordingly. AVOID!
She was absolutely horrible. I hated her. She doesn't teach the material until after you take the quiz. Then there is no point. She picks favorites very easily.
VERY difficult class-she is very subjective in her grading (asks your opinion then marks off for it). You will learn a lot as long as you put in the effort. Great professor, just be ready to put in some blood, sweat and tears to get that A.
This class is extremely difficult, and there are a lot of assignments. If you like warm, fuzzy, personable professors, Dr. Williams is not the professor for you. She teaches lectures from the book, and gives pre-quizzes for every chapter of the book. Would not recommend.
Dr. Williams is diffficult; however, if you put in the effort, show up for class and make an appointment with her regarding any problems or issues, she is more than willing to help. Very enthusiastic
Dr. Williams is the worst professor I have had at GGC. She is unwilling to work with you, her tests are impossible, and her teaching style sucks. She never "teaches" anything, it is all student comments. I learned nothing from this class. I was very disappointed.
Teaches directly from slides; rushed through most of the class because we were always a week behind. Does not give grades in a timely manner-never knew what my grades were through the entire class. Never reviews exams (how are you suppose to know why you got a question wrong).
Dr. Williams is an amazing teacher! She teaches directly from the book/slides and makes sure that you know exactly what is on the test (study guides and emphasis on certain material). She is very willing to help. The class format is discussion based and it helps you remember important details for the tests. I'm definitely taking her again!
Take her if you plan on attending every single class. Attendance is a must. If you miss a class, then you have to schedule an appointment with her to make up the work, but she stays busy and never has the time to do so. Don't expect to get your grades back in a timely manner either.
She never posts your test grades so u never know what you got, teaches directly from the slides, anytime you ask her a question she never answers b/c she wants the class to teach itself. Doesnt have time to meet up after class. I got a B in class but I never found out why b/c I dont know my test grades.. only my letter grade. DONOT TAKE HER!!
she is ok. she is too loud and doesn't value a student's opinion; she thinks she's right all the time. grades slowly, don't expect much. when students ask her what she thinks about a certain topic, she says we're not there to find out what she thinks. really? i took 1102 over the half summer which was a little rushed. my advice: steer clear of her.
She is a amazing teacher! she makes sure you understand the material. very clear and straight forward. she will make sure you get the material. also she is very hands on.
BEST PSYCHOLOGY PROFESSOR IVE HAD! She is very clear on what she wants and is very helpful. If you study you are guareented an A! The only con i see is that she is just VERY professional about everything! If you see/take her u'll understand.
There is a lot of reading and weekly quizzes. The tests are difficult but if you take the time to really study, you will get an A. She grades VERY slowly so dont expect to receive your graded work for at least 2 weeks from the date you submitted it. Overall, she was a good teacher but I had to work hard to get a good grade.
This professor has serious issues, from her colored contacts to her subjective grading! Really, if she was not a good friend of Dr. Richardson, she would have been fired a long time ago. Do not take her unless you have great brown nosing ability.
WOW! Dr. Williams is a great teacher. I loved going to class b/c she made it fun and easy to understand by applying the information in a simple way. She tells you what she expects you to know. It never really felt like a class b/c everyone had fun b/c she got us to interact and discuss things. The field trip is fun a fun thing to go do!
MUST BUY BOOK. Reads directly from slides (which are LITERALLY textbook summary made BY the textbook company) You must email her to meet for ANYTHING, then wont meet you. Essays + short answers on test but then Grades not returned for 2-3 weeks My advice: don't be sick, have a job or an in class question. Seems like she doesnt want to b a teacher.
Well, this is a little hard. She was kind to me personally, but she is very rigid. No debating a test grade. Biggest complaint is her using tests sent to her by the textbook company.Any PhD should be bright enough to write their own tests. So that gave just enough obscure questions that I had to guess at. Got a "B" when I typically keep a 4.0.
The professor is great. However, she talks a lot. She spent 2 hours just going over the syllabus the first day. The notes are straight off the power points. She will dumb down the material for you to understand it better. The tests aren't bad because pretty much tells you what the shirt answers will be and the essay. Over, she is easy. Go to class.
She is not clear on what she wants from the student. The tests are hard and always think she is right. Don't take her if you don't have too.
The previous reviews were the only factor that made me hesitant to take her. SHE IS AMAZING. I only have a 2.6 GPA, and I have an A in the class. She KNOWS what she's taking about. The tests are only "hard" if you don't review for it. Anyone can take this class and pass if you just PAY ATTENTION. I would seriously recommend this class to anyone.
ppts, reviews, tests-all straight from the publisher. book required. 3 tests 1 cumulative final-30mc 2sa 1e-she tells you the short answer and essay questions so you're prepared, but the mc is difficult. 2 critical thinking group assignments (debate & role play). she doesnt tell you your grades so you wont know until posted on banner. DONT TAKE.
Dr. Williams is a great teacher.
Okay. I'm legit about to drop all of my future classes until I can convince Dr. Williams to teach them, each and every subject. Because she's easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Absolutely amazing professor.
I will have a good great in this class, I have to be honest, I will avoid taking her again! She is condescending, treats you like a kid and keeps you hostage in class the ENTIRE length. No cell phones allowed EVER! She is NOT helpful. She does not provide slides, or notes, study guide is mediocre. She is clear about testsessays but thats it!
She really loves to copy EVERYTHING from the book. If you need help, good luck getting it because you HAVE to set up a meeting with her in order to ask her a question. Half of the time she won't even respond to your e-mails. If you ask her a question in class about the material, she makes the whole class answer or look it up. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!
I did get an A in the class, but I worked my tail off for it! The tests are hard. The good thing is she tells you what the short answer and essay questions will be so you can prepare. She is very hard and old school and doesn't post grades online. I will not take her again.
Dr. Williams is not actually that difficult if you go to class and pay attention. She's VERY clear on her expectations, including saying basically word-for-word what the essay and short answer questions on her exams will be ahead of time. I really enjoyed her class and had no problem getting an A.
After taking her class, She is NOT as difficult as it seems. She is very straight forward. Tbh, just study the key terms from each chapters and memorize the charts. Go to class, take some notes. Not so much critical-thinking, but more like memorizing. Whether you know it or you don't. STUDY THE BOOK! Essay and short answers.. she will tell you.
Dr. Williams was an okay professor. Her class wasn't difficult, but it wasn't easy either. Lots of group assignments so attendance is important. She also tells exactly what will be on her exams, so studying for them is fairly easy. But beware, her personality and way of doing things may be annoying to some and she repeats herself a little too much.
Dr. Williams tells students on the first day of class she doesnt post grades on d2l and that you must keep track of your own grade but she doesnt make all grades available and takes a long time grading. Instead of answering questions she says read the book. Class discussions not on topic, often students opinions not based on text.
I loved her and she is an excellent Professor. Yes, you have to read your book, participate, take notes and study and be in class. I took one of her other courses and I wish she taught more. GGC has many good professors and to me for the Psychology Department she ranks up in the top three. Very caring will miss her...
Never set a schedule to meet , I tried to contact her but she never responded. When it comes to my classes I dont know what to do because I never got a response from her.
you will pass with good grades if you don't skip and pay attention in class. She is very straight forward about her expectations about exams and paper. Do what she asks you to and you will be golden.
She is so sweet, caring , and understanding. I would definitely take her if I was a psych major. She hints at a lot of things that you might see on a test and give so many examples. If you need her to repeat it she will as many times its needed. The only thing I would say is to make sure you turn EVERYTHING in on time and to take really good notes.
TAKE HER!!!! you won't regret it......
LISTEN and I mean listen carefully! Do yourself a favor and take her. She knows her stuff. She gives so many examples and hints at so much that will be on the test . The class discussions are amazing . Make sure you turn your stuff in ON TIME.. I still got an A despite getting a C on First exam. Shes the best. Dont say I didnt tell you so.
Dr. Williams is very inspirational and changed my view of life forever. Ill be forever grateful. She makes you feel comfortable in her class and shes truly a joy to learn from. Thank you
Do not take her!!! From the jump I felt as though she didnt like me, and it showed because shed constantly call me out in front of the class for absolutely nothing. If you dont things her way its wrong, which isnt fair. Very specific! She also has a smart mouth. At the end of the day I wouldnt recommend her ever!
Her grading doesnt make much sense and she has a little bit of an attitude if you question it.
This professor does not put grades in a grade book online, so i cannot see my grade, her feedback is not helpful, she never explained APA format even though i asked multiple times.
I have never disliked a professor at GGC, but this professor was literally AWFUL. If I could give 0 rating I would. Please do NOT take her. You will not know your grade until midterms or the final grade because her grading system is weird and makes no sense. She barely answers questions because she expects people to memorize the syllabus. AWFUL!!!
Do not take this course. I had to withdraw from the course due to the lack of helpfulness. The professor is hardheaded when it comes to assignments and/or the syllabus. Don't even bother asking any questions, because she will make you look and feel stupid if you don't know something. It's her way or the highway. Grading is ignorant and so is she.
Very rude professor. The worst I've ever had actually. I would not recommend anyone to take her ever. If you ask simple question, she will get smart or have the class answer your question. Extremely unhelpful and seems like she does not truly care about her students passing her course. Do not take this woman's class.
I wish I would've been told to not take her class. I would email her multiple times about APA format which she makes us use because she would deduct lots of point because I was doing it "wrong". You'll never know your grade until the last week before finals. If you can find a better professor please do so
Do not take this teacher at all whatsoever!!! Her grading makes no sense and waits till the end of the semester to show you your final grade. She does not explain APA format at all and takes off a chunk of points if its not her way. Worst Professor i have ever taken!!!
At first, I was having a problem with understanding the class where it came to grading and APA format. However, once I had a meeting with her things really helped and I was able to understand grading and the APA format. Please get help once you dont understand something. But overall, I liked the help I got. I would honestly take her again.
I liked her the class was easy. The reason I didnt get an A is b/c she grades hard on the essays like you must know APL format to the T. She let you revised & resubmit. Please understand her grading b/c thats where I went wrong the entire time I thought I was getting A's but they were C's & D's. You have 2 essays 2-3 pages & quiz due every month
I would not recommend this teacher in the slightest. She treats her students like they're middle schoolers, expects you to have memorized the syllabus, all assignments are group projects, and is generally rude and standoffish. She doesn't stop talking, and wants constant class participation, and will completely stop the class until she gets it.
Not sure why she has bad ratings. Very easy class, just do what you're supposed to do. Love her critical thinking assignments, they're fun! She also makes you feel very comfortable with the no cell phone/ recording rule.
I actually really enjoyed her class!! I always felt comfortable speaking in her class, and all of her assignments are very clear and simple if you just put the effort into them. She does not accept late work though so stay on top of assignments! Attendance is also crucial because of in class activities that you can't make up without an excuse.
I mean overall I got a A because the class was easy but let me tell you she treats us like kindergartners always repeats herself and has 4 group projects in very little time you need to get that ready basically in 3days its not hard but very time consuming
The assignments were overall easy as well as the tests and final project. However, she can be a bit meticulous on how she grades. She wants things done a certain way. She can be a bit hard at times sometimes I felt like I was in detention cause of how firmly she was on her class policies. Other than that it was an easy A.
Overall she is a good professor. Prepare to read and participate and also to not use your phone. She's strict with her guidelines. If you do your work and follow her guidelines you will pass the class.
I can see why some wouldn't like her because she does have a demeaning tone when she talk but she means well, we only had 4 assignments which were pretty easy group projects, and 4 tests taken at home online (not proctored).VERY strict about her no phone policy tho. Tbh if you show up, participate during lecture and do your work, you'll be fine.
This professor has a strict tone which keeps the class attention which can be very demanding. I personally don't appreciate it but I know she means well. One thing for sure attendance is mandatory. The textbook is very helpful, I would reccommend getting it. She is really helpful with the projects and homework.
Dr Williams had a no phone policy in her class. I felt like I didn't really learn much about Developmental Psychology because of the group projects. I had high expectations for this class and I was let down. The exams are taken outside of class and they are not proctored. Overall this class is an easy A, but beware of presenting projects.
Professor was nice in the beginning but over the semester would become easily agitated with simple questions and would be rude answering if you ever had a simple questions. Instructions for projects are very difficult to understand. She has a strict no phone policy. Take course if you want at your own risk. TEXT BOOK REQUIRED
constantly talks to the class like they are children and in a condescending way. also SO strict on the no phone policy and will make it known to the class if your phone is even on your desk. the class was generally easy, 4 assignments, 4 tests, and a term project. tough grader on the project, has to be EXACTLY the rubric
Talks to students condescendingly and refuses to move on with the lecture unless the question is answered. Easy class, all tests, including the final, are taken online. Multiple group projects. She takes attendance. Hefty grade on the term project. She was okay, but her tone was strict and condescending.
