An outstanding teacher. I have had many Bio teachers at both Deanza and Foothill and she outshines them all. Difficult, yes but worth all the hard work. You cannot do better.
She is supposedly the hardest anatomy teacher at De Anza, but I've had her for 2 quarters and really like her style and personality. Highly recommended.
Vicky is defininately knowledgeable, and she helps you to best she can. Expect all unanswered questions, answered! A bit of advice: Prepare to work hard on test, it's only beneficial....she also gives extra credit minitests...
Vicki is a GREAT teacher. Yes she is def. the hardest bio teacher on campus, but she gives you a lot of opportunity to do well. Couldn't rec. anyone better! Unfortunatly you do have to work really hard but this is a hard class so... Good Luck!
UNLESS YOU ARE A GLUTTON FOR ABUSE, DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO STUDY AND NOT HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE, TAKE THIS TEACHER.
Vicki is a straight forward competent instructor who does not seem to solicit much lecture classroom interaction. Her lectures are just sit down, take notes, and get the ^&@# out.
Even tho she's the hardest biology teacher I have ever had, yet u can learn something in class. Be prepared, be very very prepared in this class. I didn't pass her class, but I still want to retake the class w/ her. Highly recommended.
Her lectures are clear and easy to understand and her exams are very straightforward-no tricks. She also lets you know what to expect on exams. She's great.
a very good teacher
I heard she is supposed to be the hardest anatomy teacher at DeAnza, but I don't see why. I got an easy B in 40A-40C by reading the book and studying my notes. Vicky is very helpful and answers all questions without making you feel stupid. Great teacher
Very clear and organized. Very helpful teacher, I learned a lot from her. But the review questions for exams are misleading (lots of stuff are not mentioned in the lecture).
Ive had Vicky for the whole series. She sure knows the material, word of advice...she is hard, but she makes you learn the material...memorize the book first, then look at the lec. notes, her tests are somwhat tricky so you have to know the material as we
amazing amazing...she was the best teacher i had at de anza. she is consistent and instills good study habits in all her students. she cares so much about the content she is teaching so that everyone will care in return.I would take all those classes over
vere good teacher and also organized
All students learn a great deal about bio anatomy in Ms. Annen's class! I'm a couple pts smarter! You must study and work HARD though.
Ms. Annen was great!! i do admit that she such one tough teacher, but her way of teaching makes you want to learn!! if you work hard and study hard, you will get an A =)
If I could take Vicki Annen for every class at De Anza, I would. This is the most clear, concise and down-to-business teacher I have experienced in my entire academic career. She has a gift for setting up exams and assignments such that the grade is always fair, and heavily dependent on effort.
Not hard, CHALLENGING is the right word. Very, Very good lectures/presentation; helpful; clear; concise. If one prides him/herself with Studying, Learning and, Effort; and prefers to be CHALLENGED, Annen is for you. Goodluck! ~ Winter 05, CJ
Very nice teacher, organized, clear, helpful. You really need to work hard to get an A. Do all the assignments plus extra credit quiz before exam, study hard (majority of her questions come from her lectures), and enjoy the quarter! Really interesting lectures with great explanation!
Her class is hard, expecially the lecture part. She throws a lot of information at once, and also makes a hard test. Don't take hers if you are in nursing program, you will easy to get a C.
Having taken science at the university level, i find her level of instruction to be appropriate at this level. her lectures are interesting and clear. exams are based mostly off lecture material. i would recommend her. if you have trouble with her class, you will not succeed in science at UC level.
WOW! She's a great teacher. Really knows her material and is able to communicate information to students well. Not a slacker class. Take someone else if you're afraid of losing bong time. You've got to work for the A. She will teach you so much though. I plan to take her for the whole series.
I think this instructor does research apart from teaching because she knows a lot about recent scientific developments. Her standards are university-level,but has enough creativity to make most students still understand lectures. Is truly meant to teach a science course.I'd keep her contact info to refer to when I take my PhD in psych, definitely.
She is very thorough on his lectures and very smart teacher, but she throws a lot of reviews on her exam, few only show up on her test. I read the book and studied hard as I could, yet I end up getting D. Maybe I dont understand her questions or her and me dont seems to connect in terms of studying.
She is an exellent teacher, but hard and tough. She will cut no slack to anybody.
really good teacher, the lecture is very clear and entreteining, but the test are hard expecially if english is your second lenguage
Vickie is by far the best instructor I have ever had and I have a BA and an MBA (UC and UW). She makes lectures clear and interesting. Her tests reflect what is in the lectures, but reading the book is necessary to really understand it. Her fairness and decency really set her apart. She will help you. You WILL need to study to get a good grade.
True, Annen is an excellent teacher and keeps class extremley interesting. BUT she does really try to make you a critical thinker, and will try to confuse you on practicles. Her test are worded bad just to understand the question you have to pick it a part and read it ten times. I did learn a lot from her class, but got my first C ever in bio 40 c
She's a great teacher, explains things well and always answers your questions thoroughly..just read the book and it's an easy(but challenging )A. you must be ready and willing to learn and spend time studying.Cares about her students.
Annen’s class is hard, especially lecture, lab is more fun and easy. Her lecture exams are hard and tricky. She goes over a lot in lecture. The lab quizzes tend to have some mistakes, and the diagrams on the lab quizzes aren’t very clear and understandable. She doesn’t return assignments back either. I like to receive my work back so that I ca
she is very nice teacher and her lecture are very interesting. she teach very thoroughly in hte lecture and if you take her notes pretty well, you can make a great job in your test. I highly recommended her for biology classes. i learned a lot in her class.
She is a wonderful teacher, but she is extremely difficult! Her lectures are hard to comprehend since you are busy trying to get all of the details of drawings down. Too much detail is being taught. The practicals and quizzes are not straight forward she re-words them awkwardly. Unless you are destined to be a brain surgeon, I would not take her.
I agree with above student, test a very hard, you need to do a lot of you own research. I study in groups and the amount of time suggested and more and still struggle in this class.
i disagree that she is a very hard professor. i think that she is a superb teacher and does a very good job at both teaching the material and making sure students understand. anatomy and physiology is NOT supposed to be an easy class. she supplies all the tools for students to succeed but the student must do his/her part too.
she's a good teacher.
Annen is not a hard teacher, you just need to take notes and read the book, only the topics that she covers though. Her exams are pretty much straight forward, not much in detail, just know the brief foundation of each topic. You need to study to get an A. She's a cool teacher too, you just need to work for your grade. you get extra credit quizzes
Vickie really knows her stuff and gets the information across. She doesn't have a very outgoing personality and isn't one that is a "feel good" prof. Whatever grade you get is the one you absolutely deserved. She doesn't really like to answer questions but will if they're relevant.
i'm happy that i took her class.
This instructor has the personality of a wall. Due to the lack of personality, it makes this subject boring and difficult to want to follow. There must be other callings in life for her. It is obvious she is not interested in interacting with the students. My advice, STAY HOME and find something that makes you happy, it certainly is not teachi
Good instructor. Currently taking her for A&P. She focuses on important points. Lectures use pratical examples. Test and quizzes are reasonable. No trick questions. Just have to read and understand the material. Several extra credit opportunities to help improve grade.
she is the best when it comes to a&p, like the other student mentioned, she uses practical examples in her lecture. take her if you want an A
I don't understand the negative comments. She goes out of her way to help students who are willing to put in some effort to get an A or B. Grades for Fall quarter were recently posted and approx. one third of the class got an A and another third got a B. Seems like pretty generous grading to me.
She's one of the best teachers ever. Wish she taught other courses. You must read the book to understand the material. Only read what she goes over. The book has more material, but she only tests on what she covers. Communicates very clearly & uses great examples. She's not very friendly, but not mean either. She just sticks to the course.
Well, this by far the hardest classes I've ever taken. Even though I got a B in the class it took quit some work to get there. Please be aware, texbook reading is a must. You have to know most of everything you read on there. Annen was good on covering the material she does use terms and expects you to know the textbook material. So come to class a
Vickie is a great teacher, now even after I finished the class I rememebr most of the material she taught. She is tough, but it so you will learn, and she gives you all the tools to do so. Your grade will accurately reflect what you put in, so be prepared to work hard and study... and you'll get an A.
She is the best teacher. She teaches through her understanding not just delivering information. She is clear and concise. You can remember what you learn from her class for long time.
Professore Annen is a wonderful teacher. She is very professional, helpful, and organized. Exams are based on lecture so take good notes. She makes it easy to get an A if you are willing to do your part.
ms. annen is a great teacher! she is hard but if you work hard, you feel the best sense of accomplishment. nursing majors* if you get a C in BIO 40 series, take it over! you need a 3.0 GPA to get in the program.
Read the post from 12/21/06 that starts out with "She's one of the best teachers ever." That person hit the nail on the head. That's exactly true. I couldn't have put it better myself.
She is a gem at DeAnza. True, her class is harder, but you learn tons of stuff that other biol teachers at DeAnza are too nonchalant to teach. She points out key concepts that are often buried in the thickets of printed words. As a student, you reap what you sow.
Mrs. Annen is a wonderful instructor. She doesn't recommend following the text because she doesn't cover all the detailed material which makes it less confusing to study. She only tests you on what she goes over in lexture and lab. The is very clear. Many students use recorders and I highly recommend it. Overall, great teacher!
Ms. Annen is the best teacher for Bio! She doesnt want you to blindly memorize material. She wants you to understand it so you can apply it. You will take more from her class than any other bio class you've ever taken. I'm in Bio 40c and I remember everything she taught me from BIO 40A! One of the few teachers who truly knows how to teach!
She does try to have you study only what she considers important but she is very unstable and shows a lot of anger at her students. She's interrupted class several times to complain that students aren't behaving as she wants us to. BORING teacher.
The last comment came from a student who wasn't doing well in the class thats for sure! haha. Ms. Annen has never interupted class because of students acting out of behavior. My opinion, if you like learning visually and understanding the material then take her. If you like to memorize through cards then she will be hard for you.
What was i thinking during BIO40 A and B? I should have taken Vicky for she's the best. A very down to earth lady, very sweet and willing to reach out to her students. This is how learning should go. I really like her style. If you want to learn, take her class, and you'll have a bright future in the medical field. Thanks Vicky!!!
she is AMAZING
Ms. Annen puts a huge amount of high-quality energy into her lectures and labs.
Vickie is an awesome teacher. The subject is challenging but she breaks it down into manageable pieces that are easily understood. Make no mistake, you still need to put in the time for this class, but if you do you'll do well. She is there to help if you need it.
She's excellent. Bring a recorder to class. Rewrite your notes, relisten to the lecture on your recorder. You have to go to class. If you do these things, you will get an A! You have to put in the effort but it's very minimal.

I knew Vicki was a great teacher. But now that I have to suffer through another teacher while she's on sabbatical, I realize just how great she is. She is so organized in her teaching. She tells you exactly what to expect for tests and reiterates it. If you don't do well in her class it's your own fault. She gives you the tools you need to learn.
Makes a potentially daunting subject super easy to understand! Need to attend classes; tests are based off lecture. Highly recommended
I took her for Biol 40A and 40B. Loved her :D. I'm actually surprised she got a low rating on "ease" because i think she's pretty easy. All you need to do is pay attention, take notes, and do everything a IDEAL college student is suppose to do. You'll definitely get an A, if not... then a B at least. Everything is based on lectures only. -E.Loi
Amazing and highly competent. This was the first bio class I had to take after returning to school to become a RN.I had a lifelong fear of science but her instruction and passion for teaching really put me at ease. Once you've had her, there is no one that can be better. Do your share of studying and you'll get an easy A. Labs are fun!
Got A in class. Very helpful lecture. Take notes bc she doesn't read word for word from slides she prints 4u, rather improvises & draws diagrams on the overhead. Labs have wkly quizzes which really help ur grasp of material. Extra credit opportunity too. There's no reason anyone should get lower than a B.
Took her for both 40A & B. Incredibly easy and nice. Her lectures are very clear and she tells you what she wants on lab quizzes. I never attended lectures; you can just read the book for tests, but you have to go to lab. Extra credit quizzes. Some ppl say she's hard, but it's like were you alive hello? I read the book the day of the tests, got As.
I am incredibly disappointed that Vickie won't be around for the next few quarters. She's a great teacher and explains the "whys" so concepts are understood, not just memorized. I have over 100% in the class with minimal studying. She's VERY clear on what will be on the tests.
I have Vicky for 40A&B and loved her class. She is very organized and breaks down the material so everyone can understand it. Her tests are multiple choice, reviews are always provided and the final is not cumulative. There are also opportunities for extra credit. I'm so upset she isn't teaching 40C next quarter. Take her for 40A,B&C if you can!
I had Professor Annen for 40A, and she is the best teacher I've had for the 40 series. She tells you exactly what to expect and what she wants you to know for the tests / lab exams.
I think Annen was actually a good teacher. She explain everything really well and made an effort to answer everyone's questions. She also presents pretty good examples of what she talks about. Her tests get a bit in depth in my opinion. I only wish I was more interested in the class so i could have gotten a better grade.
Professor Annen is a very good teacher. Although she does not curve her test, Her grading overall is curved. For example you can get a 61% and that is still a C. Her test are difficult because she is all about the details. She expects you to think at a level people dont usually think.
Excellent teacher. Goes through everything with you by writing notes rather than reading powerpoint slides. Gives extra credit. Labs can be short with her (a good thing for me). Very knowledgeable and answers all questions.
I had her for 2 quarters and she is crystal clear about her subjects. You should come to class and read book. If you don't do one of these two, you will end up having B. She is very helpful and gives you a variety of examples to help you understand the topics. She is the most helpful and clear teacher I've ever had. take her at all cost.
I took Bio 40A and 40B with Annen. I ended up with a B and a C. She is a great teacher who genuinely cares about her students learning the material. She cuts through all the BS and details of the book and gives you straight to the point notes in her lectures. I still read the book to piece everything together. Great teacher!
we just finished the final exam today , and it was one of the easiest exams, so far. Ms Annen is one of the helpful teachers out there who will answer your questions the best she can. I took for Bio 40A,B,C and I got an A with all the classes. You actually need to study hard if you want an A. However, Ms Annen's exam is more of understanding the
lesson than just by memorizing terms. THat's why you need to bring a voice recorder so that you can hear again all the important lessons she gave. If you listen again and again to her lectures, you'll do good on the exams. Get her for BIO, and have fun with her class!
I took 40a,b,and c with her. If you get the material right in 40a, then 40b and c will just be a piece of cake. Her lectures are crystal clear but you need to understand the chapter material through book. If you complain about getting a B and you didn't study the textbook, no wonder you got that grade. Lectures=simple overview. READ
she is the best A&P professor. she made lecture very fun. A lots of extra credits help boost up your grade. Highly recommend!
Awesome teacher!!! Best professor Ive ever had. Really knows her stuff. Highly recommended. Shes the best of the best.
I'll be straight to the point. She is an excellent lecturer. She will teach with great clarity and cares about making sure students understand. Friendly and easy to talk to. Her tests are based off her lecture notes, so don't study the book. She isn't exactly easy, but she isnt overly hard, you do need to study for her. I recommend taking her.88%=A
took her from 40A to 40C. she is not an easy professor but she is crystal clear and knows what she is talking about. exams are based on her lectures. best thing to do is you record her if your a slow learner. dont usually have hw and her grading on hw is a little unfair. Also, theres 15pts of extra credit possible.
Great Professor, had her for 40A -40C class was fairly easy, lecture was interesting. Very friendly and lent me a book to use when mine got stolen out of my car for the rest of the BIO 40C quarter. Study notes and read the book, you will do well. going to class is very important.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. She covers A LOT of information in a small amount of time and we have a quiz every week in lab. You need to study like weeks in advance and go through everything in order to get a good grade. She is an ok professor, but very boring. I wish she would somehow make me WANT to come to lecture.
I took Annen for both BIO40 A,B, & C. I honestly thought this class was one of the hardest I have taken at De Anza. I am an A/B average student and I received a high "C" in all three of her classes. She is extremely smart and knows her stuff, I just got a little bored with her lectures.
I had the BIO 10 lab class with her and learned the hard way that she's a very very hard professor. The lab classes aren't particularly fun and she's such a tough grader to a point where the lab class is actually dragging my lecture scores down (91% in lecture portion compared to 79% in lab portion). I guess take only if you're into Biology.
I have taken Vicki for Bio 40A & 40B. You have to work hard in this class just like any Anatomy & Physiology course. Tests are mainly based on notes so going to class is important. She explains topics very well and she's very friendly. Also, she takes everyone that is on the waiting list.
She is super nice and friendly! Her style of teaching is great! She is very clear and she is alwyas asking if something is unclear... TAKE HER!!
very amazing teacher. tests are based on notes so if you study the notes then you will get an easy A. easy class, highly recommend if you want to actually learn bio and get easy A. also provides extra credit
I took A,B, and C with her. Great teacher. Does what she can to accommodate students' schedules. Fair grader but requires you to do some work.
Just pay attention to her fantastic lectures and you will get an A. Didn't use textbook once. Pretty straightforward class, labs were ok. NO LAB EXAMS, parts of the labs you do will appear on the test. Best A&P prof I had (I took 3 different ones, Angeles, Kang'a and Annen)
Her anatomy is very straightforward and easy as long as you put the time in. Physiology is quite a bit harder. Her lecture exams are a bit unpredictable. She is overall very interesting and kind. Good professor.
Shes very detailed and knowledgable. Took her for 40Aand B. exams are off lecture notes so attending class is mandatory. She lets u make up labs at another time slot though. But no matter how good I think I did..end up w/ B and C on her exams...debating whether to take 40C with her. Probably since the other prof sounds worse
Vickie really makes it easy to be successful, but expect to put in the work. Attend class everyday and I highly suggest recording lectures! Go back and listen to them again while you work on your test reviews. She is extremely clear and helpful too. Easily the best A&P professor at D.A. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!!
have her for 2 quarters and all the hard work rl get paid off. ive been replayin the lectur records for several time before taking the exam + skimmin thru the book as well. i love her class and have gained great knowledge bout anatomy ever since!
She is an amazing teacher. If you are planning on taking Bio 40A-C, do not hesitate to sign up for her class. She brakes all the topics down in a manner that it is very easy to understand. Don't get me wrong, you WILL have to study hard; but she provides you with all the materials and tools to succeed in class. She cares about the students.
Tricky teacher. I took many classes, and I got only A and B. For her class, I studied really hard, and recorded all of her lecture. I do not work, all the weekend I only study her class. But I only got C. Read book, study lecture notes and listen lectures do not help me much. Tricky multiple choices. Study hard does not guarantee to get high score
One of my favorite profs ever. My mentor, indeed. She knows everything related to biol! never thought I'd love a&p, but she changes my mind, and ironically, I'm in love with it now. Her exams are hard but not impossible to get As. Reading textbook helps but not a lot, because her questions base on her lectures. Recording her lectures is helpful.
You can't find a nicer professor in biology. She very helpful and all of her exams are based on lectures. Use tape recorder, study the material, get an A in class. It's just that easy.
Annen's lectures were not too bad, compared to Simon Kanga another teacher for Bio40C.Annen's lectures were about about 20 or less slides.Lab Practicals are doable and you should be able to pass them. Her tests were hard though you have to study greatly,I recommend not taking a math class with this class.Take just this class only, if you can
Vickie was not that easy for the comment below.I had a tape recorder too but it still was time consuming listening to it again and writing everything down to understand.I have been taking Bio since high school and for some reason it has not been easy for me at all.Vickie's test are still hard and you have to take good notes and read the book.Gota C

If you don't choose her as your A&P prof, enjoy regretting your distasteful decision :3 Vickie is sweet, charismatic, and always has time to help ya out. 0 use of the book, tests are straight outta lecture, EC points, and study guides for every test you take. She gives you pretty much everything you could ever need in order to ace all 3 quarters.
She teaches with passion and great knowledge. Shows compassion for students who try and need help. Take advantage of office hour help and take lots of notes. Best A&P teacher at DA. In class assignments occasionally and reading before class a must. Very generous when helping students with emergency situations. A pleasant instructor to have
I am very happy I took A&P with Annen! She is very professional and fair towards her students. Annen is organized, easy to talk to, and all exam content is straight out of her lectures. She makes it very clear what you need to study for in her class. Lab was also fun, a little challenging at times, but doable. I'm excited to take 40B with her!
Her classes are NOT mandatory but if you want to pass the class you should go. Her lectures are clear and lab are super easy. Most of the time she let us out 30 min early. The review papers for lecture exams are helpful and lab quizzes are all straighforward. Her lecture exam is the most trickiest. You need to read the book if you want an A.
Vickie's passion for bio is evident during lecture and she really is the best. I haven't even touched the book since I bought it. That's how good she is. Take thorough notes though! Provides many worksheets and review guides for exams. Make sure to give yourself enough time to study, and you'll do well. There's some fun dissections in lab too.
shes very clear of what she wants and is very organized too. She is very flexible. gives extra credits too.
I am inspired by her. She really knows how to teach; and she explains everything very well. Her tests are tricky, but what matters the most is that we learn anatomy and remember it for when we move on with our education through health. Remember to be patient with yourself and give extra study time. With that said, she is a wonderful teacher.
Taking the whole A&P series with Annen was one of the best decisions I made at DA. I learned so much in her classes. She is willing to help at all times and her exams only test material covered in her lectures. Never any surprises and has a clear outline of class schedule. To anybody who needs to take the A&P series at DA, I 100% recommend Annen!
she is so helpful. if you need anything just talk to her or email her. the class itself is hard but she makes it easier and more enjoyable. Labs are easy and doable. she also gives extra credits. REC.!
Read the chapters before going to lecture. She's very quick, however, she's thorough and doesn't make errors. When she does, she corrects herself. I only had her for my last 2 quarters, regrettably. All the other positive reviews are accurate. The extra credit quiz's will turn one C exam score into an A. Do not skip lectures/labs. Thanks Vicky! :)
Professor Annen is one of a kind. She knows how to communicate with students and provide us with the knowledge that we need to succeed in the health care field. I am so happy that I took the A&P series with her. The class is hard, all A&P classes are hard . But she makes it clear with her lectures. RECORD your lecture!
The Best Teacher in the World ! I loved learning and she encourages you to move in the health field. Remember to study hard and work hard; it will be rewarding and you will learn a lot!
Vicky is an excellent instructor. She assumes you are smart and moves quickly through material, expecting you to stop her to ask questions if you need clarity. I love teachers like this because they keep you focused and interested. An engaging lecturer with direct style and excellent flow. Tests are hard (as is the material), but quite fair.
Annen: - VERY lenient, negotiable professor - practically a Human Google - provides plenty of resources (lecturelab slides, prac. worksheets) - get to know more about her! Lectures & Labs: - often range from 45 min - 1.5 hrs - very manageable - very thorough and explicit w explanations *record each lecture to keep track of your notes*
I took a year off from finishing my biology courses because she went on sabbatical. This just show how much being in her class helped prepared me and I would love to finish my biology courses with her. She gives the material needed for quizzes, midterms, and final. Its up to you on whether you will use it to study.
Very very nice lady. Always there for you when you have any doubts or questions. She loves talking about what she teaches :)
I LOVE HER!!! She makes anatomy interesting & fun. Wish she was teaching 40C. Take her, you won't regret it. Lab quizzes, 3 exams, 3 extra credit. Study hard, anatomy is tough. She is a very easy going professor.
Vickie is one of the BEST teacher here in De Anza, too bad she's taking a gap for next quarter. She's really helpful, if you feel like you're not cinfifent about a material she'll have a one on one just to explain it again and go over it in class once more. She's funny as well she masked lecture fun. You can tell she loves teaching.
She made a potentially difficult subject so simple and even interesting. You must attend her lectures because everything that is on the tests are from lecture but her lectures are good and she only tells you the important stuff. you don't have to worry about checking the book, online, or any other sources because she tells you what you need to know
Professor Annen was very helpful when I had questions. She explains things very well and does not mind repeating something if you did not understand.
Her exams are all on her slides. I rarely had to go over the book to get information since everything is in her power point and handouts. She gave us 3 lab exams and 3 lecture and some assignments on the side. The best part is that sh gave us extra credit to help as a buffer. Easy to understand and ask for help when you need it.
If you are super smartyou could take her class. Shes ppt not enough for the test. You must learn more after class. She class super boring. Also her lab. You need self study. If you chose her class good luck.
Very nice and helpful. When I had questions she would take time to explain each part. The subject in itself is hard, but shes a good teacher. Make sure you get the book and study
I feel like her course has changed since the previous comments on her. Her lecture exams are super hard, studying her powerpoints and even only reviewing what is on her study guides is not enough. You need to thoroughly go over the textbook. Lab is pretty easy, just the lecture exams are difficult.
Mrs. Annen is a very kind hearted respectful professor who is always willing to help you! I don't regret taking the whole series with her mainly because she knows what she's doing. If you make the effort to study and learn the material well, you'll be fine. People who don't study enough are usually the ones complaining. She actually makes you learn
Vickie is a great teacher, you can really tell she enjoys what she is teaching. Despite how hard A&P is she is there to help you if you reach out for it. She doesn't want you to fail so if you're having a hard time just talk to her! She gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. Always attend lectures! If she sees you're working hard she will help
Teaches solely off PPT & gives study guide, but need book to refer to. Exam ques all T/F but not straight fwd, need to apply concepts learned to make sense of ques. Never rec'd full credit for lab worksheets. Opportunity for some EC pts. In class review day b4 test, gives wkst for pts. Ask for help if you don't understand, she will elaborate.
Professor Annen is the best professor I have ever had. She always clearly answers all your questions. Explains difficult concepts in simple diagrams that can be easily drawn. Understanding passionate caring professor. Don't even need the textbook just follow her lecture. Reviews hard concepts more than once in class. Super helpful office hours & EC
She posts everything on canvas. Print her slides before the lecture. Make notes during the lecture. remember everything she said- it will be on the Exam. You don't really need the book-maybe just for pictures, but you can always search them up. Exams are more important than labs. Beware! Many questions are tricky. Think twice before answering!
Professor Annen is one of the best teacher I've had at Deanza. She is good at what she teaches. She explains clearly and cares about her students. Be careful though, most exam questions are tricky and need you to show in-depth understanding of course concepts. Anatomy and Physiology is not an easy course, you need to work hard to get good grades.
Do extra credit quizzes. It helps buffer your grade. Make sure you take notes during lecture. She goes into detail that's not on the slides themselves. Same with her lab lectures. Quizzes and tests are straight forward. Talk to her during lab and office hours. She helps you! She even wrote me a letter of recommendation last minute. 88%+ A
Taking her online at the moment, would not recommend for online. Her online lectures are uninspired and her slides dont cover everything needed on tests and classwork. You WILL need to go through the book multiple times on your own after her lectures to understand enough for the tests. Basically just self study -which i am very bad at
I loved Mrs. Annen. She is super sweet. I got a B in BIO40A but I really learned how to change my study habits and now I got an A in BIO40B and will get an A in BIO40C. She is awesome, definitely take her but you will need to work for your grade. She offers EC and an A is 88 percent. The pass rate is so high too!!!
Please beware COVID-19 online students. Her exams & quizzes are based upon lectures & handouts. Unfortunately when I was taking her quizzes & exams, the material isnt fully covered on the lectures & handouts as she says. In this course, you are forced to teach yourself the material. I dropped the class. Please dont take her!!!
If you are good at self study, this class is good for you. Lectures wont cover exam and quiz, you need to work on something else by yourself in order to pass the exam. Exam and homework are not straightforward, and questions are super tricky. She do provide extra credit exam, it helps boost your grade. 78% for B grade, 88% for A grade.
I had her the whole A&P series and she was great. She is knowledgeable and explains the materials real well. I had to admit that A&P was a hard series and you have to work for it. But what can we expect since most of the students gonna work in med field :) Her test is not easy but it's acceptable if you study. 88% is an A. Highly recommend.
Things are straightforward but sometimes not, instructions are not clear enough. Lectures wont cover exam, you need to study by yourself. She published a lecture on the same day as exam day.I need to work, No everybody are full time student, so I missed one lecture neoplasm for exam.
Vickie was the worst professor I have ever taken in my life! She doesn't care about her students or anything for that matter. Her exams are very difficult not straightforward. I would study all night and still fail her exams I know for a fact that the problem is with her. I remember begging her to reply to my emails that how negligent she is.
I took her online class for 40B, bad idea. Her online lectures are unclear and her test questions even more unclear. She expect you to know stuff that she never even mentioned and expect you to answer question using blurry/unreadable picture. Unless you're a neurosurgeon, I wouldn't take her 40B. Face-to-face class is fine though, so there is that
You will need to wait a whole night to know the last exams result because of the system glitch. I havent learned any of physiology, but think out of box for exam. If you had very good exam skills, you probably will get A, but without any physiology knowledges.
Very stressful class, if you like to work under pressure. She seems nice, replying your email. Tough grader, your grade depend on the exam, and lab work, exam almost every week and very difficult. She put lab homework on canvas like exams style because in that way she wont need to check lab homework to convenient to herself.
This class really triggers your emotions. She post weeks module separately to several times. She will post new lectures before exam to confuse you. If she say no lab on exam, dont trust her, everything will show up in exam, even things she never mentioned in lectures. Unorganized online class. Even one exam failed, you Wont have chance to have A.
Girls, please run away from her online class. It is very bad idea that switch my LVN to RN under this professor.
A is 88% B is 78%, sound very nice, barely maintain the B grade, exam are very difficulty, one extra credit exam may help a little bit. Dont know what I had learned from this online class.
I am not going to continue my path with her, online class lack the scene of human body. This professor never guide you how to think. Lectures, she only read by herself, with some sketch pics. I doubted years ago, how she gain so many good comments, maybe she make online class harder?????
tough grader, lecture and exam are different stories. You wont even have a B.
One of the worst teachers at DA. You are tested ONLY on her lectures, which only last less than 2 hrs in 2 weeks. This means you are to become an expert in those 2 hrs. Her tests are made as if she taught the 14 hours we should have received per subject. Homework is set up as quizzes, but don't match assignment sheet she gives out. I regret, 100%
the worst decision I made in my education path is taking 40B with this professor! she did not respond to emails, never published an exam answer sheet even if the test is so irrelevant from what you learned, not to mention how she disappoint you with her words in the exam. I don't recommend her to anyone else.
Be prepared to teach yourself. Exams are irrelevant to what she teaches in the class.
Lectures where pre recorded and done at your own time. Very lecture heavy, and labs could be a bit confusing, material is like learning to speak hieroglyphics. But she is helpful. Exams are lecture based, open book/notes are ok. Not an easy class, I'd advise to rewatch the lectures, make detailed notes, and you'll pass
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! Her class only include old videos from 2020-2021. She's is tough grader, in couple assignments i have the correct answer but it wasn't the way she wanted so i got it wrong. and HER TESTS oh god, her wording is bad and she does it on purpose to confuse you. read very careful!!!!
vickie is a tough grader. Her exams are not that hard but who knows what kind of answer she's looking for. doesn't show you what you got wrong. her labs are confusing, she goes through the slides fast. some labs lack of videos and the slides she posts barely have information. you have to learn own your own.
Prepare to work hard in this lecture-heavy class, but Prof. Annen is helpful and explains concepts well. Use Unstuck AI, the textbook, and attend study sessions to succeed. Exams are challenging but fair if you stay engaged.
