For the most part, he is an exceptional teacher. I love his unorthodox style of teaching. A lot of information but easy to remember and interesting in all ways. He always asks the opinion of his students and is very interested in the replies. He seems a bit afraid of the students but again as long as you participate, you've got nothing to loose.

I took this course online and it was incredible. I was absolutely scared of doing terrible, but it was great. You do have to write several pieces and post your responses to all the assignments, but all the material covered was related to your point of view. No right or wrong answers, which made the class incredibly interesting. Highly recommended!

Prof Calderin is one of those teachers that really do care about his students. He is always willing to help and clarify questions. I took his class online and quite honestly, the assignments are fairly easy however I found most of the material he chose (excerpts from stories and different types of essays) was absolutely boring and I was completely uninterested in most of it which made it a little difficult for me. Other than that I think this class is super easy.

He's very unorganized. He hasn't graded not one of my assignments and this semester is almost over. The work is easy but I must admit, it is a lot. Good thing is he gives you 3 weeks to turn it in. Professor Calderin is not a tough grader and will work with you as long as you are willing to do the work. There is a lot of writing assignments so be sure to expect that. There is a decent amount of work assigned, but pretty simple. Although he does not enforce the deadlines, the key to not falling behind is doing the assignments according to the syllabus. He is very to helping out students. GREAT discussions. He is very understanding as long as you are honest and e-mail him. Tough grader with the papers. Easy A-B.

Best professor for someone who is an above average reader that likes open discussions and is willing to do the assigned readings (which are usually very entertaining and are reviewed thoroughly in class). A must take for student who are writing inclined.

I really loved this professor and his class is amazing. I had him for Creative Writing, which is a fairly easy class and if you turn in the assignments and show up every day, you're destined to have an A in his class. This class was the highlight of my entire semester and he is one of my favorite professors of all time.

Such a great professor. Loved all the pieces he gave us to read, they were all super interesting. He is a super easy grader but gives awesome feedback on all your work. He gives so much opportunities for makeup work that it is practically impossible to fail his class. Taking him again next semester and i cant wait!

Prof. Calderin is a great choice for English courses as he makes the material clear and is willing to help clarify it at any moment. Most assignments were completed and submitted online - all of which he gives more than enough time to do. These range from online quizzes, essays, and reflections. If done WITH TIME this class shouldn't be a big deal.

Professor caldron is a great but he does assign multiple lengthy paper and the final is a research paper that is 8-10 pages! HE IS A TOUGH GRADER!

Professor Calderin is hands-down the best CREATIVE WRITING teacher in MDC! He gives amazing positive feedbacks, I usually have problems with writer's block. However, with his class I can write without fear of not reaching my full potential , since he gives many ideas of writing through his lectures. I have learn so much in this class than others.

That way you learn from his class, is through all the homework that you would receive, the quizzes, and the programs you will be using. He is easy going, but stricted. Professor Calderon also appreciate when, students participate in class. He answer questions, and is polite.

Prof Calderin is hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. He encourages you to do your best and manages to make you find the writer you have in you. He divides the course in short stories, poems and one act plays. As long as you submit your work, it's a guaranteed A. You'll need the textbook, no tests or quizzes, just writing.

I've been out of school for years and of course it was intimidating to began again but I must say getting started with this professor was a great encouragement for me. I had many questions throughout this course and he was always responsive. He is caring and encourages participation. A lot of reading, to be expected but cool class overall.

Best English professor on Hialeah campus. He makes in-class discussions fun and engaging. One short essay, one easy midterm (study guide is basically the midterm), and one big literary anaylsis paper (6-8 pgs). Also one must do participation posts, but are only 12 and are one paragraph long. He is also a very nice professor and extend hw .

Professor Calderin is hands down the best instructor Ive had during my college career. Not only does is he very funny and relatable, but he truly loves writing and wants his students to learn and develop as writers as well. If you are going to take an English or Creative Writing course, choose Professor Calderin (you wont regret it)!

The class was fantastic. The exams were well made and portioned appropriately. The instructor was funny, knowledgeable, and willing to help students. The class material was splendid and made the class enjoyable overall. I would strongly recommend this instructor to any other student. Best professor I had in four years.

Profesor Calderin is amazing, 100% would take another class with him. He keeps students engaged and knows how to make class fun. He cracks jokes all the time and in general a really good teacher.

Phenomenal Professor who always lectures on interesting topics and cares for his student's opinions. He's very understanding and gives good feedback on papers and assignments and you WILL become a better writer after taking his class.

This guy is incredible. Lectures were made to make you think, and he thoroughly listens to your opinion. He gives you real feedback, and will let you fix your mistakes. I enjoyed him so much, I ended up taking his creative writing class. It's 4 essays, with the 3rd one being used for the final, 4th essay.

I kind of left this class to the side, and submitted everything last minute, but he still gave me A's on everything. When I would do my work, it was a lot of fun, and if you needed help, Calderin would be there. I learned a lot about literature as well.

I took this course online and as my first online class and it was awesome. This professor is amazing. You just have to write a couple to essays and do the midterm which he provides the study guide for. It is a really easy class if you just stay on top of it. He always replies to emails & he actually cares about his students. You'll definitely pass

This is the first professor I ever rate and only professor Calderin could motivate me to get on here. Seriously inspiring assignments, he wasn't strict with the due dates and gave a lot of great feedback. I learned I liked writing poetry in his class. Hopefully will have him again.

Very caring and charismatic professor very understanding and helpful with extending deadline With that being said, he gives an insane amount of work. I have never received so many weekly assignments ever in MDC It was very overwhelming

He is really nice and flexible when it comes to due dates. He gives one extra credit and 3 essays. However, he is so hard on the grading which affected me. He mentioned how he rarely gives anyone an A on essays, as "none are perfect." Honestly, I worked hard on them and I always got a B. If you want an easy A, do not take this class. Lectures long.

Seriously one of the best english teachers Ive had! Hes very understanding when it comes to extensions but you have to let him know beforehand!! It consists of 5 modules and 4 papers. Hes a tough grader but with exceptional feedback! Only had one midterm and no final. He also gives one extra credit and is overall such a knowledgeable teacher!

I took this course online, Spring. He did provide homework which you listen to audios or read some journals, wasn't terrible for my opinion. 2 essays, proctored midterm which is an essay, final is a research paper. Only thing he is heavy on grading is the essays but he gives you feedback for the future essays.

This class is all online but there's no meetings to attend the work is provided on blackboard and you would need to comment to two classmates work for full credit.

Take his class! He is super nice and lets you turn in assignments late if you ask. He appreciates when students participate in his class. He does assign quite a lot of writing homework towards the end but their usually very easy topics and he grades very good. I would totally take his class again!

Definitely have to work for your grade, he won't give you an A just for submitting, but theres tons of assignments to help with that so if you fail that's your own fault. Great guy and you can tell he cares so much about what he does and who he's teaching.

I took his online course. He gives you 2 weeks to complete 4 discussions and a quiz, and there are 3 papers. The first 2 are super easy but the last one is a research paper that 6 pages. He's not too harsh of a grader and pretty easy to pass, just need to keep with the deadlines.

Very nice and understanding professor. If for some reason you couldn't turn in your work on time, he'll still grade the assignment, but with a late penalty. Assignments are also easy, just 3 essays, discussion posts and a research paper. But I wouldn't recommend procrastinating the discussion posts as they still take some time to do.

He was a great professor. There was 2 essays, a couple podcast reflections, weekly discussion posts, and a final research paper. Was an easy A I recommend.

Amazing professor

He was pretty good. No textbook, all readings available in the modules. A discussion or two every module (9 total) but they were easy and he had lax grading. Proctored midterm where you write an essay which wasn't too bad but just know he doesn't like giving 100s on essays. Two other big essays but that's it, and extra credit if you need it.

Prof. Calderins course was very easy to manage. A few grammar quizzes that were fairly easy, mostly discussion posts, and 4 essays which had a minimum of 500 words. Highly recommend this class! :)

The online course very good. I just didn't like the "2 Replies" in every discussion. If you forget to reply it will be reflected in the activity grade.
