He is a great man, teaches very interesting material, is straightforward
No attendance policy, very intersting class. Easy A
no attendance policy, tricky tests, funny, straighforward
old guy but funny
He is such a sweetheart. I love him. Easy A, just read assigned pages.
It's like class with Ben Stein (Visine guy), but he's funny. Sleep time !!!
Take this class, easy A if you read! Hes funny and to the point. Tricky tests but not if you read the assigned readings. No attendance policy!!
Tests are true false. If you dont read a little bit, than the tests may seem tricky. He keeps you intersted.
He gets boring, and his paper is so unentertaining. Not recommended unless highly(and i mean highly) interested in subject
He's a cool guy, very interesting and funny. Subject is a little tedious, but doable
He's just a teacher that is really boring and compensates for it by occasionally cussin'. Dont take his class u'll be asleep all period. BORING BORING BORING!!!!!
This class is SOMEWHAT HARD. I studied for my tests (hard studing)and I still got a C. BORING CLASS. SLEEP ALL PERIOD.
great class, doesnt take role, dosent care if u show up,no hw, exams are t/f and multiple choice, must do the readings for the tests but they are interesting and not long, funny old man curses alot lectures are funnn def. take him
Class is really really boring, but occasionally he goes off into a torrent of curses about cavemen or something and can make you laugh. You have to study the book, going to the class will only provide about 33% of exam material.
Not easy. showed up for review period 1st 2 exams and got c's, didn't go to 3rd review and got a b. class notes are different from reading. Must go to class or will not pass tests, and must read the assignment twice. he likes to trick you.
This class was BORING as hell. The tests are extremely tricky. He is not very helpful at all. I think he gets a rush out of tricking students on the exams. One good thing is that he does not take attendance.
I have never had a more boring class in my life. He has a really good sense of humor though. Tests are fairly easy if you do the readings.
Very boring class, makes you wanna fall asleep, but there is no attendance policy. Have to study hard for the material and memorize a lot, but the tests are all T/F and multiple choice.
Really easy class. All exams are t/f multiple choices. Fell asleep a lot, but you actually have to go to class and do the readings to pass, but its not much work other than that. Very laid back.
amazing class. i loved every minute of it. definetly should have a love of anthro to take it otherwise youll be bored to tears... hes a great teacher, really knows his stuff and is quite humorous.
great man. funny guy and learned a lot. very interesting material and not too hard. doesnt care about attendance. he is easy to get a long with and has cool adventure stories
He really knows a TON about Archeology and Anthropology. Take advantage of having such a birrliant teacher here in Towson. His tests are definitly hard and reviews aren't too helpful, but it is still a proffessor you have to take!
must do all readings and go to every class...100% of grade is 3 exams which are pretty tough...questions on exams can be slightly confusing...study and read...a lot!!
No attendance policy, therefore grade is decided on test average. He gives four exams, and the lowest one is dropped at the end of the semester. Just read the chapters and attend class most of the time and you can pull a B pretty easily. He is friendly.
This class was easy and interesting.....dont listen to anyone that tells you different. There is no attendence policy, but if you miss class, it is smart to get the notes because they are helpful for exams. You also have to do the readings which are easy. Very nice guy!
Class is boring but so is the subject, knows a lot and is willing to help. Tests are hard and are based a lot on little details. Study hard and you should do fine.
He was really boring but his funny quirks woke me up enough to get an A in the class. Def take this one he's awesome and the tests are mad easy.
Painfully boring. No take home work, but you HAVE to read the book. Half of each test's material comes from the book (the first of which is terrible reading and puts you to sleep). The second book is a bit better, wierd but more interesting. I imagin he is a good field teacher, but a terrible teache
The exams are all multiple choice & true/false. Read EVERYTHING that he assigns, & know details. He doesn't curve, but he "takes improvement into consideration" for final grades. My friend got a D, then three A's, so he got a final grade of an A.
we had 4 novels to read but they were all short, tests were straight forward and paper was long, but an easy A. I learned a lot and did not have to work that hard, i would definitly recomend this professor!
He's a great professor! Everytime I went to class I felt like I was watching the history channel! He is so knowledgeble! Do the reading and come to class it'll be an easy A. If you don't like to read or come to class then... don't take this class.
This class is not an easy A. Be prepared to study and study more. His test questions are tricky. But he is very knowledgeble, and you will learn in this class. Also, the review days are a joke, you don't learn what is going to be on the test or what to study.
This class was pretty easy. Just read the books and follow the guidelines for the paper and you can pretty much gurantee yourself at least a B in the course.
Fisher was really cool. He was old and funny! But really he is awesome and if you have to take this class with him you are in luck! I mean i got a C but thas because i didn't do all my work (heh heh) so if you read and study you'll be fine. And i thought he was really funny!
Fisher's class was so easy, as long as you take good notes and read the book. He tells you whats on the tests. There is four tests all semester and he drops the lowest one. Take him for an easy B or C.
Fisher was great I took him Several times and I thought he was so much fun. Test are easy, papers easier.
excellent professor and very enthusiastic about the subject matter
Easy class, easy teacher, very nice, tells lame jokes....watch a video everyday in class, raely any notes, tests straight from readings...easy A as long as u read
awesome guy, like cooky old grandfather. doesnt take attendance, but if you want to pass SHOW UP. 3 exams, lowest grade doesnt count, then a final. just do the readings, show up to class, take notes, and you'll be fine. super easy as long as you are interested in learning and know how to study.
crazy old man...but funny...rambles alot!! watch a movie everday...3 books 2 read which the 3 exams r based on...easy class!!! do the readings
He is such a cool guy. His stories are great. The class is an esay "A". His test are really easy you only need 2 days to study; but, on the test make sure you know your vocabulary.
does not grade according to anything. unclear with his explanations about grading. will not talk to you after class b.c. gets very irritated about any questions asked.
Boring lectures, tests are hard, impossible to get an A... dont take this class.
Prof. Fisher is an awesome teacher, a very open-minded yet grounded individual. Easy grader on tests and papers, but sometimes not very clear about what you have to do. However, almost everything can be found written in the class readings, and he is prompt and willing to respond to questions. I encourage people to take his classes.
This class is very easy...but very boring. He talks about things in lecture that arent in the books so thats how you end up coming to class. Tests are multiple choice and pretty easy if you read your text.
lecture class - he's hysterical, goes on funny tangents - reminds me of old grandpa kinda guy. content is pretty easy. 4 exams, 1 grade is dropped from them. thats is. study and you'll do fine. if you do well on 1st 3, you dont have to show up for 4th one. answers in the readings and lecture notes. no attendence policy.
The tests are very hard and difficult to study for. However, he is a great guy who really loves his work. The lectures are interesting and funny, and he is willing to do whatever he can to help you out. He is patient and kind. Study hard, and don't miss class.
SOOOOOO BORING! tests are ok if you read.. IMPOSSIBLE A, easy C if you read. The text is boring! Everyone falls asleep in the class.. OVER RATED!!! Avoid him for a gen ed!
he is the man and if you dont do well your just lazy.go to class and take the easiest notes ever. then read the books and study the terms and youll have an easy A. hes pretty funny too
he knows his stuff! you need to read the books, but he makes it perfectly clear to you what will be on the tests. take him
SOOO BORING! topic matter is interesting, but the class is all lecture and I found it hard to pay attention. you must read, almost half the test questions come from the book, which is material he does not cover in class. has a sense of humor though.
great professor! you can tell he loves what he does. 3 tests make up your grade (you take 4 but drop the lowest grade from the first 3 tests). make sure you read the book and know the glossary terms because 1/2 the test questions (all tests are 50 multiple choice questions)come from the book and the other 1/2 from class lecture.
4 tests, drops the lowest one. Doesn't take attendance, but if you want to pass you need to go. Tests are 50 MC from both books and lecture. He has a sense of humor, lets you out earlier a good amount of time. If you read you will do well on the tests.
VERY nice man but my GOODNESS this class is boring. Most days I brought something to do with me so I didnt fall asleep. He loves what he teaches and the class is easy. Lowest test dropped. No homework or quizzes.
Such an adorable old man, but probably the most boring class in the world. Attendance is not mandatory...I've been there probably about 3-4 times so far. Tests are hard if you don't study. I can't even recall what he lectures on...he just goes in circles and cracks random jokes.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! WORSE TEACHER EVER.....the class was so boring and he is so rude. save yourself the energy.
HARD TEACHER BUT EASYISH IF YOU PAY ATTENTION. READ THE BOOKS B/C THE TESTS ARE WORD FOR WORD. HAVE TO MEMORIZE EACH CHAPTER INCLUDING PPL. NAMES,ETC..A BIT RUDE AT TIMES, BUT I AM HOPING FOR THE BEST.
Sit near the front of the room, he is soft spoken. Tests are fairly straightforward, it would be hard to fail this class. However, he has the memory of a goldfish and is not very good at giving interesting lectures. He just kinda rambles on for the entire period, and randomly shows a video. Not hard but you better be ready for a boring class!
He clearly has tenure. Take down everything that he writes on the board. READ the book if you want to pass. His humor is very dry but if you have to take the course then you'll get used to it. Study hard for the exams (he doesn't curve often) and you'll be fine.
I'm not sure why Dr. Fisher is rated so lowly. Just read the material thoroughly (I know it's a lot to read) and you'll do fine. The exam questions really aren't that hard. Out of the three exams, one was rather difficult and that grade was dropped. Quizzes are easy, too. Just pay attention in class and sit close to him since he's so quiet.
This class was very fun and interesting, Dr. Fisher has a genuine interest in the material he teaches. Midterm, final test and a final paper are the only grades. He offers extra credit for both test which really helps. Dr. Fisher is a very funny, old school, no nonsense kinda guy and I would definately take a class with him again
i took Fisher for the Prehistory course which I failed twice before with Dr. Wall. This claas was very well put together, the readings corresponded exactly with the lecture of the day. The class is pretty easy if you show up and take notes. I still have mine and they are in great condition if anyone wants to buy! [email protected]
Fisher is great! Hilarious guy and very interested in his field of study. He tells you exactly what's going to be on the exams, essays and short answer. Explains everything very clearly! Gears the class more towards enjoying and understanding the material, versus just teaching in order to give you an exam. Interesting class, fantastic prof!!!
Prof. Fisher was extremely knowledgeable about this topic and deeply cared about the information. However, being that I had no interest in this class, I could barely stay awake and struggled alot. I had to switch it to Pass/Fail. It was SO BORING. If your taking this for a gen ed, DON'T. If this is for your major, he will be able to teach you a lot
While he is knowledgable only teaches from a slide/lecture. The book&lecture only overlap slightly so its take in twice the content, he is very boring and thinks his opinion and thoughts are the only correct ones. In terms of the education side of the class it is ridiculously boring and hard. I like him as a person not as a professor
One of the best professors at Towson! He is extremely knowledgeable. He has such great experience and interest it makes the class so much fun.
Such a fun class! I had a great time Dr. fisher has really been there and has such great stories and contacts it made the class feel real. So great I take every class I can with Fisher.
I will never get sick of taking classes with Dr.Fisher. He is one of the best professors at towson. He is so nice, knowledgeable and helpful.
Incredibly smart man! elderly, so his style is bit old fashioned but he loves what he does & is a great prof- if u take him seriously. doesnt take attendance/pop quizzes, but u need to do readings & go to class. at office hrs he is surprisingly personable & helpful. may not seem approachable cause of his style but he really does want ppl to do well
Definitely recommend. Extremely knowledgeable and clear. MUST pay attention and read the text. Do the extra credit work.
Try and avoid taking him. I'm an ANTH major and I still could not concentrate. Mumbles and is not clear at all. The only thing saving you from failing is reading ALL books and taking exceptional notes. Exams are on specific parts of the books.
I can understand how someone would find this class mind-numbingly boring--I went in expecting to hate it--but I thought it was fascinating. Dr. Fisher is smart, experienced, witty and seems to actually want his students to do well. People's comments about the workload are true, though, so if you're up to the challenge, take it. And if not, DON'T.
He was a okay professor. But YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK or else fail the exam. and attend class cause it will help with notes. Must take notes.
Hes kind of quite so I definitely recommend sitting near the front. Besides that he's a pretty good professor. He is very knowledgable and has a sense of humor. There are 3 tests and a final. The lowest test grade is dropped. READ THE BOOK. Half the tests are based on the book. Take him if you are genually interested in anthropology. Don't
Personally I didn't do well, but Professor Fisher is a good professor! Has a quiet, raspy voice that can get boring though. MUST READ THE BOOKS otherwise you WILL fail. Attendance optional, but you should really go for the notes. His class is not easy and the material can be difficult but if you read and study diligently it is definitely doable!
Excited going into it, regret not dropping it immediatly after the first class. I gave it 1 pt for easiness due to the fact that its nearly impossible to sit thru these horribly boring and absolutely useless and uninformative lectures. You will be sorry if you disregard my comment and take his class, I don't know how I am going to make it til may.
Occasionally amusing, but not a fan of staying on topic. No clarity of expectations, wants you to hand over a library book so he can review it when he grades your paper. Nice enough, but I don't think I'm a fan
He clearly knows and enjoys the subject matter. I appreciate his enthusiasm, but the class can be painfully boring to sit through. No discussion, just lecture. No homework or presentations, just tests, which are scantron and tough. Textbook is important but he made a big deal about ignoring parts of it, which got confusing. Computers are welcomed.
Love this teacher. His subject matter is different than other classes. Reading is requried and notes. I have taken four of his classes i would take another if i could.
I would not recommend this class with this teacher. I'm a good student and I applied myself, especially for the term paper. When I received it back I was given C to C- with no indication what I had done wrong only that "he could not reward nor applaud naivety" Very unprofessional....
It's a very basic course. 3 exams and a final (drops the lowest test grade)and loads of extra credit. Requires a lot of reading because that's what the tests are based on and his lecture material. attendance isn't mandatory but every lecture is extremely important. If you just read the required material and pay attention and take notes, you'll pass
loved this dude. he's really funny but the lectures can seem to drag on at times. extremely clear about what you need to do and the exams are easy if you study a little for them and keep up with the readings. Really laid back and shows genuine interest and knowledge about the class
Do not take this class. Victor is extremely boring, and his tests are absurd. He gets so angry when half his class fails a test, but he must know that its not us, its him. I hated this class with every fiber of my being. Do yourself a favor and take this review seriously.
Fisher is straight to the point and he knows his stuff. 3 Exams (lowest grade dropped) and 1 Final. His tests are tough and sometimes pick but definitely possible if you come to class and do the readings. It's some interesting material as well. I enjoyed taking this class. I would recommend taking it and I like him as a professor.
Dr. Fisher is definitely my favorite professor I've had at Towson. The tests are pretty difficult, usually half the class failed each test, so make sure you read and STUDY THE GLOSSARY and take good notes and you'll be fine. Very interesting content and clear explanations of everything. I will definitely be taking him again in the future.
He has a low, quiet and monotone voice and is hard to hear him. It is way too easy to stop paying attention in his class. I spent most, if not all, of my time browsing the internet because its so boring. His tests were kind of hard and you need to pay attention to pass, but again, it was really hard to do so :/
Fantastic professor. He is truly a genius in his field. Only 3 tests and final. You have to read and take good notes. Half his tests are on lecture material and half on the readings. If you engage yourself you will do fine. He drops the lowest test grade and offers extra credit.
a genius when it comes to anthropology. information is presented very clearly. tests are straightforward and easy if you look over your notes and do the reading, which isn't bad because most of the reading and lectures are very interesting. i actually look forward to going to his class, definitely one of my favorites. dude is hilarious too
He really knows his stuff and is passionate about it. 4 non cumulative tests. one of the first 3 can be dropped. Tests are based on half of the lecture material and half of what you will read. There are 2 textbooks, but you dont read all of them. He cuts out a lot and makes it clear what he wants u to know. Does offer ec and a mini review session
Professor Fisher is very passionate about the subject which makes his lectures a little better. 4 exams (including the final, no midterm) and drops the lowest grade. NO FINAL PAPER! You can do up to 6 points extra credit for EACH exam. STUDY THE GLOSSARY ITEMS, IT WILL LITERALLY MAKE THE TESTS 10X EASIER!!!!!
So I think a lot of people are tough on him but hes cool. Lectures are boring but if you pay attention to what he says and the powerpoint notes, you'll get a solid idea of what will be on the exam. make sure to read your textbook tho. about half the exams are based on info in them
Dr. Fisher doesn't have his ppt available on BB or anywhere, you will need to come to class. 2 textbooks are used in this class. Just gotta take notes and master the glossary. He also gives hints for the exams. 3 non-cumulative tests, lowest one is dropped. Then lastly, non-cumulative final.
Dr. Fisher is hands down my favorite professor and could very well be my favorite person. He is so caring and hilarious that it makes me look forward to class. I've never had a professor so invested in my personal success before. Passing this class is as easy as showing up and reading a couple good books
Professor Fisher is a wonderful teacher. You can tell how passionate about anthropology he is. His classes can be easy to fall asleep in though, and can be quite boring. He does his best though and is always cracking jokes or trying to liven things up. There are only 4 exams and he drops the lowest of the first 3. He does offer extra credit.
He does not use blackboard and does not share powerpoints or class notes. In order to get by in this class, you must attend every class and spend $200 on two different textbooks. He has four exams, fifty questions each. Rather than telling you what to study, he tells you a few terms that can be omitted. I would not recommend this class to anybody.
