One of the most knowledge teachers I have ever had. Many students like to impose their knowledge, when they actually have no clue what they are talking about. He has no patience for nosense. If you take his class to learn, you will be satified. Be ready to study for his test!

The best profressor in PBCC, very educated, nice. If you can't live without your cell phone stay out. If you like a challenge and willin to listen, and participate this is you class.You will walk out with alot of new things and definitely confidence

What everyone else said is right. the good and the bad parts. He does easily get a personal problem with people. Keep your mouth closed, and you'll be fine. Dont take cell phones into his class, whether they're on or not. He is snobby though.

I did not see his arrogance. Very easy class. Seems more interested that his students overcome any fear of public speaking than what they actually say. Follow his rules and you should get an A.

He's a really good teacher! Explains everything and makes you think. He engages the class in discussions which I loved. Pay attention in class and take notes. The tests are not hard you just have to study your notes and know the material. Take this teacher! It's worth it.

his class was easy he is the easiest teacher to get along with as long as you follow his rules and his only rule is dont bring your cell phone to class. besides that the speeches and the test are a piece of cake

Professor Gent ia an amazing teacher. If you are very intelligent and can handle constructive criticism then you will LOVE him! If you are ignorant and do not like speech then you will HATE this man. PBCC is a joke and this is a hard class, but no tests. If you get on his good side he is a friend for life! A good one at that!

Professor Gent was my favorite teacher last semester. He was actually the best teacher I have had since I started here. He is very clear and keeps your attention. There are few tests, and when it comes time for speeches, you are already comfortable with him and the rest of the class that its a breeze! Pay attention and take good notes. RECCOMENDED!

Victor Gent is a good professor, first he has personality and second he knows what he is talking about, I really like this teacher because he is funny, but not that much. he teach because he wants the student get the concept, test are not hard, but a little tricky so if you want to learn take him.

This professor was easy to get along with and really understood what he was teaching.just come to class and think before you say something cause he don't mind calling you out on you thoughts,I got a A after getting a 58 on the first test and a 68 on the second test,do go on speech day and youll pass with no problem,Easy A if that what you want

Very good teacher, if you have a mentality from a grad from HS, do not take him, his class is not for a kid from HS, if you are respectful to others, educated, you will do fine, if not, don’t even bother.

This teacher is awful! Although his lectures can be lively and entertaining, he is the rudest professor I've met. Be prepared to do EXACTLY what he says and be spoken to like you're an idiot. Has no problem embarrassing students in front of the class. Tests and Speeches are hard and be prepared to wear a suit for your speeches.

This is a Warning to all who enrolled in his class! He is a verbally abusive man who takes out his frustrations on his students. There are no words possible to describe this sad and angry man. A wonderful, wonderful man. He's very driven and passionate about his subject. Easy to listen to and there wasn't too much work in class. Just take good notes and you'll be fine. The 2nd half the semester, you'll be barely working at all because of the speeches. Also, DO NOT PISS HIM WITH CELL PHONES..his only rule.

I had him for speech. It was not worth it to buy the book, so dont. Personally, he's not a bad teacher at all. He expects attendance, and dont dare bring a cell phone to class or he'll fail you. If you are a good student, and do your work, you'll like him. His passionate and interesting.

Oh boy Professor Gent. Well although he can be rude and higly sarcastic and he loves to play the devil's advocate, his lectures were very powerful interesting. His class is a challenge because he will not hand you an A. If you are respectful, on time, and participate you should be fine.

Truly an intelligent and insightful man. For me having a professor that I respect is everything, and he's it. It you really care about learning then he's your man. Shows actual interest in students growth. Unfavorable opinions of him dissapoint me. It's a hard class, but he is really there to teach the subject. I am not an atheist and he likes me.

A great professor for speech. He is very interesting and intelligent with his lectures so much that it was one of the few classes that made me sit upright and listen eagerly. He can be mean and rude, but I found that is only if you cross him or his rules. So take his class follow his rules and instructions and you'll make it out easy.

Professor Gent is very knowledgeable. He is, however, opinionated and does not tolerate rudeness. Listen to what he says, try to be original with your speeches. You really have to work for your grade in his class, but it's worth it.

This sir had SOME good qualities. However, this man seemed to be extremely opinionated and definately did not tolerate rudeness. He did show maturity in all situations. However, he used this to his advantage, and it seemed to be as if he acted very condensendingly. Overall, I earned a B and the teacher is not a very nice man.

GREAT GUY! Finally a professor with a sense of humor and a light-hearted attitude towards his students! Throughout class I felt like he did a great job fostering an environment of open-mindedness and creativity. The cue-cards he let us use on our final presentation were more than enough - anyone can do it! Always had a positive attitude :)

very good professor for honors. he challenges your opinion to see if there is any backing for it, so if you are the type of person who believes something but doesn't know why, he may come across as pompous but his purpose is to challenge your thinking and help you to see something from another point of view. few in class reading lotta discussion

Gent is a good teacher but is a very arrogant man. If you are afraid to speak in front of people, he will not help you feel comfortable at all. His teaching methods are ok, but the work in this class is too hard for speech. I wouldn't recommend him unless you like public speaking.

Will get on top of you if you don't do the work EXACTLY as he wants it, or else he won't even take it. Highly intelligent, awesome in-class discussion, and hilarious. Only 2 speeches, compared to other classes which have 5 or 6.

If you are a no nonsense student who can follow clear directions and deliver what is asked of you this professor is for you. He is no pushover by any means, but he is an exceptional professor with no interest in babysitting or hand holding.If you are a serious student and want to succeed by doing the work you will enjoy him and excel in his class.

He's very funny and accurate majority of the time. We had alot of laughs and good stories being exchanged in there.

His two quizzes are tricky. I recommend taking good notes, paying attention in class and not buying the book. My class never used the book. I think he is a lawyer; do not argue with him unless you have a good reason. His class is not easy at all, but you will learn a lot. You can have an A if you do all he required. Excellent professor. Rough exterior, can be challenging personality, but that is the point. He wants you to critically think about the information, and formulate your own opinions, and argue them. He created a safe space for expression, but he also helped you cultivate a "thick skin" Great sense of humor; I loved the class.

This professor was something. I am a good student (3.8 GPA) and only got a B in his class. He covers only 60% of what will be on the exams. As for his attitude, he can be very rude at some moments. His asignments are unbelievably unadapted to the 21st century. Basically, I don't recommend him. However, you never get bored in his class.

Great teacher. Notes are very easy and exactly whats on the test, but the highest you can get on a test is a B...its impossible to get an A. You will NEVER use the textbook! Don't bother getting it. When you turn stuff in it needs to be exactly the way he wants it or you will have to redo it until its PERFECT! He is funny and a good teacher overall

He is not a bad teacher just makes you work for your grade. Tests are touch unless you know what you're doing.

He gives amazing lectures, but is a very tough grader when it comes to your speech. Tests were not to hard and the textbook is referenced but you can get by without it.

I am a very reasonable person, I try to accept that professors have different teaching styles, I try to write good reviews on here, but this is a tough. Gent teaches fine, but treats all students as his inferiors. If he thinks you are challenging him (even when you're not) he'll put you in your place. Will laugh at you if doesn't like your question

I didnt even last a day with him, he talked about his rules and had to drop immediately, he's extremely rude and sarcrastic to his students. He thinks he's smarter than the students and is way too extreme on his bathroom and electronic policies.

I have gone against the ratings here and take professor Gent for the summer and by far,he is the best . He is indeed strict, the tests aren't easy but we had a great time. He made us laugh the entire semester.

When I tell you this guy is awesome, I mean it! Not only is he class extremely useful in life, but he lectures are also very important, interesting, inspirational, emotional, and I can keep the list going on forever. Of course like all teachers he has his beliefs, but he also addresses that us student have thoughts and ideas, doesnt happen often.

Great teacher but he is old school, respect him an he will respect you. NO PHONES, if your phone goes off in class or even a watch he will kick you out of the class. He only gives 1 speech which is great. He explains things very well.

This a great professor. Class participation and attendance is MANDATORY!!! If you have a problem receiving criticism, this is the professor for you. Tough greater, but understandable. Great guy very hilarious, and very easy to talk to and available outside of class.

I had Professor Gent for Speech at PBCC in 2003. I am quite shocked to learn he is till employed at this institution. I rated him a "5" because he was very effective in teaching me how not to treat students. I eventually graduated from FAU with a masters degree in Educational Psychology, and became a very successful teacher of AP Psychology.
