He is very knowledgeable on Jewish history, but for BOM, he is very difficult. He often gets off topic and we don't cover everything for the test. It is a very stressful class, unless you are into memorizing a history lesson.

You have to memorize the entire book... which is impossible. His TAs are uptight and very picky, and do most of the grading. Classes consist of Ludlow going off on tangents and stories, then come test time: You are left unprepared. Stay away if you want to maintain a good GPA.

Be prepared to be extremely challenged. Bro Ludlow is a walking Bible dictionary, has high expectations, and wants all his to students to be scripture scholars by the end. He is very sweet and eager to share the beauty of Isaiah with you. Take good notes, be able to describe the chapters. If you're worried about your GPA, just audit the class.

A nice man, but the class seems more about memorizing Isaiah locations in the Book of Mormon and applications to BYU football rather than learning Book of Mormon content.

This class is harder than my 4 hour CHEM 105. Ludlow's perception of a religion class seems to be to make Isaiah scholars out of freshman just out of seminary-- not possible. The readings are extremely interesting and the papers aren't too bad, but the tests are MURDER.

very demanding and hard to earn all points for even a B+. had to write three five page papers, not to mention three, 1-page+ essays on the final. questions are tricky sometimes and come from class discussion as much as random details. class was not spiritual and lecture was never on focus or worthwhile. LOTS of handouts to memorize :/

Professor Ludlow is awesome. Reading involves manual, scriptures, and secondary literature which Ludlow provides a list for. Hard, yet a very fulfilling course. Ludlow is a top expert on all things Isaiah.

Professor Ludlow is definitely not the teacher to pick if you just want an easy A. If you want to learn a lot about the Book of Mormon, he's definitely a good choice. He provides lots of outside materials to help you study. It's more work than you would expect from a 2 credit class, but it can be incredibly fulfilling.

Sweet guy. HARD to prep for his tests! Grading for the paper was a mystery. Took mine to an OT scholar for preview--they loved it. But I got a B. Asked Prof L to help me do better; he couldn't explain why he graded it a B or how to improve it; just said a B is pretty good. He did work with my schedule for a national competition. Tough class!

This class is just a semester of random tangents and disorganization. Quizzes and tests are impossible to study for. Grading on projects was arbitrary (and he wouldn't even justify the grades he gave out). I love Isaiah but do yourself a favor and DON'T TAKE THE CLASS FROM LUDLOW.

I was told before I told before I took the class that Ludlow was the "master of isaiah"... After 8 weeks of his class, I'm still trying to figure out why. Merril substituted for us one day, and did loads better than what I;ve had to endure this spring. Tangential, disorganized, and dogmatic on some points; I would highly recommend another teacher.

Probably not what you want to take for a first semester Book of Mormon class. The course load is heavy for a 2 credit class. He's a sweet guy, but his class is difficult. If you take it TA reviews are a MUST to do well on the test. I wish I would have audited his class- his insights are great, but the work was too much
