I think that she is a hard professor but I think that all the work we do pays off because all of the cocepts taught in math stick with you way beyond math 090.
Her accent makes her hard to understand, but she has a good understanding of mathematics and teaches well
I am thankful that she teaches us how to do math in more than one stratedy. She is a very excellent teacher!!!
this teacher is the best math teacher, you could'nt get a better teacher than her..she really wants to see you learn besides that she teaches all levels of college math.
I love her...although she has an accent, she is very clear and helpful in teaching this class...you could never find a math teacher as good as her.
She is very clear and understainding. I learned alot! I missed class 3 days an fell behind so i got a c but she actually cares about teaching us and is very helpful. She knows her stuff. i recomend her. =]
This is one of the best teachers in the math department at valley. yes! her accent is a bit heavy, but i strongly recommend her. Attendance is a must, other than that she is the best at her subject!.
i am very surprised to see such positive reviews on Dr A I am personally disgusted by her demeanor Not only does she make it extremely uncomfortable to ask questions but she gives you an absurdly sarcastic answer causing the class to laugh at your expense Her favorite answer is "because i want to" as if that is going to help you in any way.STAY AWA
I found her to be quiet difficult to understand. she jumps for one thing to another with no clear explanation. and gives sarcastic remarks when you ask questions. she likes to say (because i want too) she says that a lot. I regret taking her. shes very confusing and doesn't clearly explain what she does.
The fact that she is from Africa means she has an accent. So it was hard to even understand her way of teaching. I had the feeling that she just expected all her students to know everything. It was a little hard and you are expected to do her homework even though she doesnt grade it.
she was very hard to understand, but if you know how to do basic algebra you will pass no matter what. she doesnt really care for attendance, but she doesnt like it when you text in class. its very easy if you just read the book and take down what is on the board in class.when she repeats "we talk about" in her accent, its hilarious..lol.take her.
This teacher is the worst math teacher at Valley. Her accent is very difficult to understand and when you ask her any questions she feels offended and doesn't answer them. So i don't recommend anyone to take her.
she is extremely hard, she get mad if you ask her any question, she don't help student, she goes extremely fast, her test it not what you review in class, and i think you better take another math class.
I don't believe she is hard. Questions on her quizzes and tests are examples she sometimes shows in class..(hint: her irritation when people fail). I am far from a math whiz, but she made learning easy. This was my second time taking it. if anything beware of professor Dillard.
I actually really liked Dr. A she is a great teacher and if you want to learn she is more than willing to help you if its not the big of a deal she will make your life hell!!! She likes to make you second guess by asking "R you sure" dont be scared if your right and u dont second guess yourself she will really like you!!! I will take her for 102
Great teacher, very funny & sarcastic personality
@ first i thought oh no her accent is thick and she is extremely fast .. I am no math whiz either..I ended up loving her she has a great sense of humor and wants u to pass!!!! She is a great teacher
I got As in both 090 and 095. I'm good at both. But when I got to her class it was just nonsense. What she does is writes the problems on the board , solves them, and then erases them before you even get a change to write them down for notes. I didn't like her class, and I regret taking her or 102.
There is a quiz after each section. Her class is difficult, but if you do homework you'll do very well. She is a great teacher. Don't fall behind.
If someone rates her as a bad teacher it's probably because they didn't do their homework and failed her class. Dr. A is great! She cares very much for helping students realize that they shouldn't stick to just an AA degree. I HATE math, but she made me realize we need math for everything. It's worth the effort. Go to tutoring and DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
Having not taken math in 2 years and getting an A in her class, I can definitely say it was a really tough class. She's very intimidating. The online homework I believe is a lot more difficult than the book. She wants you to understand the subject especially if you plan on taking CALCULUS. If you really want to learn math then take her.
She is a funny person and will receive you with a smile, but her curriculum is NO laughing matter. She is a bit intimidating and her accent will lose you, but if you have determination and want a challenge, this class is for you.
Dr. A is very nice and knowledgeable. She takes care about all her students, unfortunately some students in the back do not pay attention and do not listen her. Dr. A explains in different ways the same problems. If you are eager to learn take her class and you will succeed. She likes her students focus in her class to learn more.
Dr. A has a strange sense of humor that is VERY funny, but some people misunderstand it as sarcastic or harsh. She has a heart as big as all outdoors and seriously loves hard working students. If you are dedicated (do homework, come to class) she will make sure you do well. If you miss class or get caught goofing off,(texting, etc.) you’re toast.
she is very strict it is hard to comprehend what she is saying and when you ask a question she gets mad.math is more confusing after taking her class
Dr. A is very strict,as long as you go to class and do your homework you'll be fine. The class is not that hard just take plenty of notes.
Very strict in the class room, but she is very honest. If you do everything the way she asks you to you will do very good in the class.
Great teacher very she makes the material very clear. If you show up to class, take all the notes she gives you and do your homework you will pass. She always shows up early to help any students out that need it and is also willing to stay after class to help. I will recommend her to any one wanting a good teacher.
Ridicules any student that dares to ask a question. Erases the board quickly and quizzes you on problems not yet reviewed. Invites any student to her office if they need help but then treats you horribly if you show up. In short, she is a really good mathematician but a horrible teacher. Too bad they pay her to teach. What a waste of dollars.
She Might Very Hard on her students but she means well. Ive Taken 3 different classes with her and I alway look forward to the nest one she is not a professor to slack off with. Take note, do your homework and study. what morecan she ask for.
she might mean well but she sure doesn't make you feel that way.she has a heavy accent that makes it difficult to understand the material. belittles you when you ask questions.take at your own risk
She is really good at solving problems quickly, too bad they pay her to teach. If you take her know that you will have to be on your own and teach yourself. If you ask questions you'll have a 'don't you know?!' reply. not helpful
hard to understand, rude, and requires access to computer to do her h.w which makes no sense since the test does not consist of the in-class material.
Good Professor and encourages students to succeed in class. Do your homework, get help, and do well on tests and you will pass.
Worst math teacher I have ever taken. All she does is write on the board and doesn't teach. You have to teach yourself and when you ask a question she makes you feel stupid. Thick accent that makes things even harder. Tests are ridiculously hard. Quizzes every day. AVOID! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR.
For 095 she was a good professor. She has a strong accent which can be hard to understand. She has a different sense of humor which may seem rude and mean to others. Making friends in this class is hard because once she starts it must be silent in there.
She is not easy. Do your homework, because your homework grade replaces your lowest test score grade. She is very helpful, but her accent does make some things harder to understand. Attendance is mandatory. Homework is not mandatory, but you should do it to keep up with the quick pace of the class.
Dr. A's class is easy to pass if students put in the effort. She does have an accent, but it does not affect the students ability to succeed. Do your homework to get a better test score, since her tests are very similar to the homework.
Great math skills, Horrible teacher. Save yourself time and effort. Attendance is mandatory, gets mad if you show up late, and gets irritated when you ask questions which is ridiculous. Classroom vibes a dictatorship. Never been on this site but made it a point just to write this review
Amazing professor. Has an accent but is not too bad. Attendance is mandatory. Missing one or two days won't kill you as long as you do homework. When you ask questions she does seem to respond in a sarcastic tone but try not to be offended she really means good. Take good notes because test and quizzes are very similar to problems done in class.
Took her fall semester 2013, honestly AMAZING teacher. Write really good notes(including examples she writes on the board/slides). Do all your hw and that would help you pass your tests with an A. She helps a lot..if you ask her. Her accent was never a problem. Be responsible with attendance, hw, notes and it would be an easy class
HARD!!! Did I say hard?? Prof Anemelu is a sweetheart, but her tests are brutal and no warning before quizzes. Must know ALL material because no pretests are given. If you want to be a better mathematician and are ready for a challenge, take her. If you don't want to be pushed too hard, continue looking.
Dr. Anemelu is an awesome teacher! I took her 102 class over summer. She teaches the material fast because she is so good at math, but if you take notes and study them you will do fine. Every question on all of her tests come directly from problems she does on the board!!
GREAT PROFESSOR! TOOK MATH 102 THIS SUMMER. VERY INTENSE. DR. A HAS YOUR BEST INTEREST AT HEART AND WANTS YOU TO DO WELL, BUT YOU HAVE TO BE THERE, TAKE NOTES AND DO THE WORK. SHE DROPPED THE LOWEST TEST SCORE AND ALSO GAVE THE OPTION TO REPLACE ANOTHER TEST SCORE IF YOU DID THE HW EVERY WEEK. VERY GENEROUS WITH EXTRA CREDIT AS WELL. LOVED HER!!!
Spend a LONG time critizing prior students and threatening new students. Her teaching is good but she does not follow her own syllabus. If you ask a question she embarrasses you.
Put in the effort and you will earn an A in the class. Dr. A is extremely fair in computing your grade. Homework is a huge part of your grade, so if you want to pass do your homework. If you want to thoroughly understand mathematics I would recommend Dr. A.
Dr. A is very helpful. She explains everything in a lot of detail so clarity isn't an issue. If you pay attention during lecture then the testshomework are easy.
She seems to know what she's talking about, she's a really good teacher! She explains things In details but has an accent but it will grow on you and . She gives you Quizzes each week, hwork on webassign, gives you many changes to ask questions! Does not tolerate many days of you missing class, good teacher (: get ready to take notes!
If you're a responsible student, you'll do fine in her class. She has an accent but you'll get past that after the first class. She answers questions reasonably well but you'll need to rely on tutoring if you're having issues. DO YOUR HOMEWORK and do it EARLY. If you don't do well in her class, it is your own fault.
Love her!!! She is the most helpful math professor you will ever find. She is a blessing to the campus.
Really great personality! If you don't understand something she'll help you but most times I was left even more confused. She does have an accent but it's not hard to understand her. All of the homework is online on Webassign, so a lot of times I was left facing a screen and not a face. Doesn't follow her schedule so show up everyday. Ask for help!
She's a great Professor. Despite her accent she communicates very well. She will explain problems to you "Barney Style" which can seem condescending but, she's just trying to make things as easy as possible for her students. Give her your problem and she'll give you a solution that is easy to understand.
Dr. Anemelu is wonderful. She is very kind, and cares for her students. She lectures on whatever seems to be stumping a majority of the class, but the lectures are short, and she spends the rest of the class giving one on one help. I highly recommend her!
Great professor, once you get past her accent. She knows what she is talking about. However, the homework and tests are on webassign and that program is really messed up. After we had taken our final and the class was over, the program was still saying the class had homework to finish. The homework and the lectures are weeks apart, gets confusing.
This professor "helps those who help themselves". If you are a math major then this prof. is for you. You will learn with her. Tough exterior, but she totally helps you out when grading and calc. final grade. If you don't do the homework she will be sorta of short with you in class. I plan on taking her for precalc. She explains anything if asked.
I took Dr. A for 952, the hybrid class which involved using the program aleks. At first I was skeptical but I was able to finish the class early and start 090 and finish that class in the same semester. It saved me time and money. I leaned on Dr. A, a lot. Some of the material I couldn't understand but she helped SO MUCH. I loves working with her.
Her class is really hard and boring and i did not understand any of her lectures
I had to teach myself all of the material. She tries to hard to be a fun teacher and she expects us to run the class a lot. If you ask her a question during class, she gets annoyed! That doesn't make sense! I wouldn't recommend taking this Prof unless you are good in the subject and/or are willing to work on the chapters on your own alot. Good luck
She expects you to understand everything, because if you ask a question she will respond with a rude comment. Her accent isn't helpful either, she is hard to understand.
i took her hybrid class in the spring missed like half the semester lol but still passed with an A. as long as you keep up with your homework and come on test days you should be fine. she has a thick accent but very sweet and caring. u purchase the online course its kind of a lot of work but if its done u pass with an A for the most part.
Professor Anemelu teaches at a pretty fast pace and sometimes it's hard to keep up, but she really does care and makes sure that you understand what you're learning. She will gladly do her part but you must also be willing to do yours as well in order to succeed in the class, that's all.
Took this class after being out of school for a long time. Was intimidated at first but shes fair as long as you attend class and complete work. All work was done on Aleks computer program. Quizzes online and tests in class. Stick with it and complete assignments. Canvas participation is a must.
Professor Anemelu is a little intimidating at first, but I honestly enjoyed her class. she explains different methods to solve equations and gives plenty of examples to understand a concept. my favorite part was the use of ALEKS. if there was something I didnt understand in class, the online portion helped a lot.
She Is Avery Straight Foward And To The Point. Showing Up To a The Class Is Mandatory , Due To Attendace Being Part of Your Grade . If You Miss A Quiz You Wil Dropped From The Class. She Is Very Rude When You Ask Her Questions. Participation Matter Is Her Class , She Will Drop You For That As Well. And There Are No Hard Back Book, Aleks Is Your BF.
Did not respond to emails, the discussions were not helpful at all, student expected to help students so that doesn't help when no one knows what they are doing. Very condescending and rude, NEVER AGAIN!
Some of the discussions online were really pointless. She uses them as attendance so if you dont participate enough youll be dropped. Took it online so you pretty much teach yourself but she lets students know that if you need help you can come to her or to tutoring. Passed with an A so it was ok overall.
You get the grade you earn. Just needed the bare minimum to pass, so that's what I shot for. STUDY!STUDY!STUDY! Anemelu is a fair grader, but online learning still largely depends on you. She drops the lowest HW&Quiz scores which really helps, but the final exam is worth about two letter grades so it can ultimately make or break your final grade.
Dr. As honestly an amazing teacher who cares about her students. She can come off as being tough, but its because she wants her students to be successful and shes always available when you need her. BEWARE: she MAKES you participate! She WILL force you to go up to the board and solve problems even if you dont know how and theres A LOT of hw!
I took her on Summer and it was really difficult, 380 topics in one month it was impossible to get a good grade, and aleks webpage take you again and again to one topic just if you miss a single comma, that was the hardest class ever.
Took online Summer 2018. Basically teach yourself. Saw Dr. Anemelu once - finals on campus. Drops lowest homework and quiz. Extra credit for work shown on scratch paper for final. Meet weekly time goals, complete objectives, quizzes, and you will pass. Some online videos/resources. Most of online activity was for posting of questions and answers.
Took her for Fall 2018. Do the objectives bc those are worth the most that is said on ALEKS & constantly study since she doesn't give you warnings about major tests. Also quizzes are every single week & are worth just as much as tests. She sounds annoyed when you ask ?s as if youre supposed to know already. I passed but I had mental breakdowns :')
I took Dr. Anemelu's Fall class in 2018 without knowing what I was getting myself into. Math has always been a difficult subject for me, and I hadn't been in school since '04. So, needless to say I was very anxious and scared when I took her class. Surprisingly, she helped me achieve my fist A in math! Her lectures are pretty straight forward.
took the class spring 2019. not easy at all! Make sure to complete all assignments. No extra credit at all. Will not reopen an assignment. She changes the grading scale at the end. Complete homework assignments and objectives, even if not graded. This MAY save you and boost your grade up at the end. i would not take her class or math online again
Took her 5 week summer online class. it was very hard and stressful, I do not recommend it. There are 416 topics that must be covered in 5 weeks. It is a self taught class. If you are stuck , use YouTube tutorials. I would estimate 2-3 hours a day to cover daily topics. Your final counts as 40% of your final grade, do not take it ONLINE.
Horrible with feedback. Its an online class so I feel she should be able to tell you exactly what you did wrong and help you figure it out. All she says is edit and repost she never has anything else to say and if you ask shell say edit and repost. Im assuming she dont like to be questioned either
Harsh grader! Goes over assignments super fast. The second half of semester more then half of the students that she had dropped out! she's hard to understand! if you are trying to take math, (DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HER!!!!) You'll thank Me Later!
I would not recommend this teacher for any reason at all. She does not explain her work she goes way too fast and if you ask a questions shell say do you need my glasses?! And if youre late and miss an explanation she will not go back and explain for any reason she hats so ever
Took her spring course (january) and dropped with an A bc she wanted to extend the final to december which is extremely ridiculous. the aleks course is great for learning but she assigns too much on top of that. we to complete the weekly objective which takes 10 hours to do with wkly test. plus she assigns discussion boards on canvas. never again
Took this Math class as a summer class. Very fast paced. If you fall behind you will not do well. A class that if you put the work in you will be rewarded
I am in the middle of her summer class. If you have the option to take her this upcoming fall AVOID IT!! So MUCH homework and very little lesson teaching all she does is have a condescending tone and there are discussions which are really irreverent. STAY AWAY from this class and anything she teaches!!
I regret taking this course during the summer. She changed the grade weight at the last minute and I went from a 70% to a 40%. She doesnt provide extra credit. The math discussions dont make sense at all on top of a regular discussion. If youre not doing so well she wont help you. I recommend taking someone else who doesnt fondle grade weights
I am taking her class online; I currently have a 3.4 GPA but with this class getting added to the record...I just don't know how long that's gonna last. She basically doesn't teach anything. She lets Aleks do the work and offers little to no help in understanding the material. She's impossible to get a hold of and offers no help at all. 0/10
DO NOT TAKE HER COURSE. Offers no help once so ever, on discussion boards she consistently talks down to you and offers little to no help besides "Read more" or "Pay more attention". Lecture slides do nothing to help with homework or tests, most of my learning is coming from Google math websites and examples. AVOID HER AT ALL COST.
In my 3 years of being in this school I have never had a professor less caring, understanding, and just to be frank, rude. Does not seem to reply to messages half the time, very tough grader. I am not one to try to intentionally hurt a professor's reputation however I feel I would be wrong to not warn others about this teacher. STAY AWAY!!
This professor has been the worse, you would ask for help and ask what are you doing wrong in order to understand what you have to do is correct and they will deny you and reply with looking at what you did wrong yourself. I don't find using a 3rd party website to teach for you an acceptable way to avoid teaching your students right. DON'T SIGN UP!
She is really hard to understand. The homework is done through ALEKS and it is A LOT. She gives one cumulative final that is worth 40% of your grade. Honestly, the class is set up as if she wants you to fail.
She honestly shouldn't be teaching a subject that a lot of us have problems in. You ask her for help and she just tells you to go look at the powerpoint and book. The final is worth 40-45 percent of the whole grade. You have endless amount of hw. I honestly would not recommend her at all.
Woah! Must have good math knowledge before taking. Lectures are tough to understand or get help with. Used MyMathLab, average of 8 HW assign a week with 15-28 questions per, plus sub parts. Quiz every week, 2 discussions, 4 hours of lecture. Quizzes worth 30% of grade, final worth 40%. Extremely difficult. Do not take 5 week course during summer!
Prof. Anemelu is amazing. Took Math 095 and came back for math 102 and there's a very high chance I'll take her statistics class. Being someone who did really bad in maths in high school I sure did enjoy her classes.
Anemelu is an amazing professor. This is coming from someone who did very badly in maths in high school. Now I find myself enjoying maths more and more. Took her 095. I'm currently taking her 102 and 605 and I'll for sure take statistics with her.
MAKE SURE IF YOUR TAKING THE ONLINE COURSE THAT YOU ATTEND THE ZOOM LECTURES! If you can take it in person take it in person, you will not regret it. Online you are required to ask at least 1 question each week in a discussion board, but most of the answers is just "review the textbook".
Homework and Quizzes were tough, discussion boards were leave a question you didnt understand on the current topic. Big exams proctored, was hard to teach myself. Just wasnt a class for me.....
I had this professor one semester and I failed sadly. It was an excessive amount of work. The professor was not helpful and every time I would ask for help she would just tell me to join the zoom meetings. She also is very bad with communication and took forever to respond.
I did not deserve to pass this class. I was struggling a lot, and decided to finally join her zoom meetings. She was able to explain everything very easily. Just ask for help. Everything is on Pearson. Weekly discussions. Just do your work and you'll be fine. Thanks to her I am graduating. Great person overall, just don't be afraid to ask for help!
Quizzes every week and tests every chapter, sometimes pop quizzes. You can still get partial credit if you're wrong depending on where you went messed up. Changed some homework assignments to the quiz category mid-semester. Expects you to ask classmates for help most of the time. If you're good at trig you'll probably do well in this class.
The very first week of this class i was given 12 lengthy assignments and two discussions due with so little time to complete them with no late work accepted. It is a complete overload and bombardment and that's coming from someone who actually loves math, this subject might have been ruined for me
I do not recommend. I was excited to take this class. I emailed her in three different occasions and she never replied back. I watched a couple of her online lectures and in one of them she was talking in a different language for at least 20 minutes. She is not tech savvy it would take her a while to figure out while doing online lectures.
The lectures were hard to watch, as I couldn't understand her most of the time. Sometimes, she'd forget to post assignment pages for specific assignments. Honorlock is used with the mid-term and final. On the upside, the final has two possible attempts, which is nice. She's also willing to make exceptions for assignments and quizzes if needed.
Would not recommend taking this class. Poor at grading and will give you a bad grade even if you complete every task that was given to you. Won't respond back to any of my emails. waste of time and should've read the reviews before i took this class. beware.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TAKE A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR! She is really DIFFICULT as a person and a professor. She would always ask for any questions after explaining something, and if you did have any, she would start lecturing the whole class, saying that the reason we wouldn't understand something was because we didn't do our homework.
The class has a heavy workload and the professor can be difficult to understand at times. However, using Unstuck ai and other online resources like the textbook has helped me get through the class. Overall, it's a challenging but manageable course.
I should have read the reviews and also payed attention to why more than half of the class withdrawed the very first week of class. Lots of random pop quizes. You have to teach yourself with this professor, asking questions does not help as she lectures you to look on the lectures for help.
Avoid this professor. Most lectures are from someone else, and her grading is harsh—saying you don't understand a question earns an F for the week. Language barriers and lack of engagement make learning difficult. If you value your education, avoid her class and consider in-person math courses instead.
If you like to learn from a teacher and not have to teach yourself, this teachers style is not for you. This teacher does not post any of her own lectures but just posts old youtube videos of other teachers. Reading the book and teaching yourself isn't my preferred method but it might be someone else's. Teacher is also difficult to reach.
