This has been the best teacher I have come across in my entire college experience so far.....She is hilarious, and a great person overall....She makes the class fun, and she makes you want to attend it, even though you don't have to.....Easy A!! She gives you the test before so you can study the questions and answers!! I LOVED her!!=)

Vicki Burns is one of the best professors I've ever taken. She is sweet and gives many opportunities for an additional extra credit point. Her lectures are lengthy at times, but the films she shows in class and the guest speakers she brings in make this class worth it. If you want to learn something about women's issues, this is the class to take.

If you have the chance to take Dr. Burns i highly recommend you take her! shes super funny and nice and really care about her students. she only has two test the final and midterm which are super easy and a two page reflections paper! she gives a lot of extra credit !! PICK HER!!

Took her online. Weekly reading, 6 discussions, 4 tests, a paper and a group project. All super easy. Keep up with the work and you will get an A for sure. Easy grader, just follow the rubric. Content was interesting.

Professor Burns is super nice! Easy class! 2 tests which she gives a study guide for and one easy paper. She provides a lot of extra credit opportunities. Attendance is not mandatory. Used the textbook like once. Lectures are interactive; topics covered are really interesting and she really knows her stuff. Definitely recommend her.

Great instructor! She barely marks attendance and her tests are very straight forward. The class was very interesting and her lectures are never long and boring. Lots of interesting videos, discussions and guest speakers. Very approachable.

I would take her class a million times if I could. She is absolutely amazing, I loved her class, lectures were really interesting. Attendance is not mandatory at all, I would have easily skipped her class every time since I had to wake up early for it, but I made it there every time because it was just such a great class that I looked forward to.

Professor Burns is amazing! I really enjoyed this class, I learned so much about the LGBT community. There were 4 pretty long discussions (she only counts 3), 4 easy quizzes (only counts 3), and 1 group project but your grade is based on your individual participation. I definitely recommend taking her!!!!

One group wiki- easy. 4 discussions, only need to complete 3. 4 tests only grades 3. 10 points extra credit at end of semester. Discussion can be a little wordy, 300 words per questions, but not bad. Only used book a couple of times, but one or two questions are out of the book. Interesting class the teacher is really invested into the subject.

Easy class. Quizzes are easy & you can use your notes/book etc. No final. You only read the book a few times. It's like 10$ on amazon! The weekly discussions can be time consuming; they are several questions & 300wd per Q. Mostly online content. Read & watch the videos and get your A! The group project: easy & your grade is based on your work only.

This class is definitely doable. I have taken other online classes before and they are way more time consuming. You have 5 discussions to write and sometimes they can get a little lengthy, but she gives you at least 2 weeks to write them. Group project easy and quizzes easy too and you can drop lowest grade. I learned a lot in this class

The class material was meh, but it was interesting and her assignments were relatively easy. She gives you plenty of time to do the works and lets you drop your lowest quiz, and skip a discussion with no penalty. The group project was easy peasy. Would take again, wasn't as time consuming as most online classes can be.

I enjoyed the material however her discussion posts were VERY time consuming! So get ready to WORK. Overall, Great professor!

I wish I could take this course again! The professor is incredible and gives great feedback. The course content was so great! This is definitely my favorite class I've ever taken at FIU! The only thing that was a bit annoying was that the discussion posts were a little lengthy but if you're truly engaged in the content it's simple!

Prof. Burns is a sweetheart and cares about her students. Lots of presentations from women advocates throughout the semester. She also shows very interesting films. if you go to class and study her study guides, you'll pass her tests (Only a midterm and final).

Textbook wasn't used as much as I thought it would be. No tests, no final, only five discussion posts and a few quizzes (lowest one is dropped). Real easy and interesting course.

Professor Burns is the BEST professor I've ever had at FIU! She truly cares about what she's teaching and she loves listening to what her students have to say about the sometimes difficult topics being discussed. Lots of extra credit is given and textbook isn't necessary. Come to class because exam questions are based on videos shown during lecture

You have to try hard to not get an A in her class. The grading scale is higher than the usual but she is very detailed on what she wants for assignments so if you follow that you're good. 4 quizzes (top 3 counted) 4 assignments (you can skip one of them) that's it guaranteed A.

Dr. Burns is really sweet and very intelligent. She wants you to log online about 3xs a week and keep up with the discussions and quizzes. They are usually due every Wednesday at 11:59 pm. Please respect each others opinions when you disagree as well as hers. She's fair and even offer extra credit opportunities to boost your grade!

Dr. Burns is a phenomenal professor! I really enjoyed attending class every day because there was so much to learn and the class discussions were helpful. I took her during the summer and wish I took her during the regular semesters because I learned so much and enjoyed talking about current events.

Dr. Burns is the best professor I've had at FIU & I'm about to be a Junior. Her outline & expectations are clear. A final 60%, group project 30%, class reflection paper 10% & two extra credit worth 2% each(Summer A). It seems like she changes these assignments around; attendance isn't mandatory but beneficial for the final so show up & participate.

This is the second time I take a class with Dr. Burns. It was a summer A course. 4 discussions and 4 quizzes. The discussions can be time consuming but if you read the syllabus, everything is perfectly laid out and if you follow the format she wants, you should get an easy A. Awesome professor! Very interesting class.

Easy class!! 6 discussion but you only have to do 4. 4 quizzes and you can drop one. One research paper that is only 2 pages and gives extra credit at the end :) take her she is awesome

This professor is amazing! She lectures the entire class, but they're super interesting and relatable. She also shows movies throughout the semester which are very touching. I liked this professor because she's real. She doesn't sugarcoat things and she calls out the injustices of the world and tries to open up her student's minds to see them too.

Easy class. Midterm, final and research paper. Gives a lot of extra credit points. Study guides for exams are VERY helpful. The GA grades the research papers (which I didn't like, but if you have a problem, talk to her and she will help you). You're paying for the class, so you might as well go even if it isn't mandatory (interesting material).

I loved Professor Burns! She is super nice and I honestly looked forward to going to class! The class is super interesting. Her exams are on her PPT, which she puts online so showing up to class isn't always necessary but I recommend you do because she sometimes shows things and says things that she tests on and doesn't put online. The only requirement is that you need to respond to two classmate discussions every week aside from posting your own. She even has extra credit opportunities. Really easy class.

I took this class online for the spring semester, not only was it SUPER east but it was also really interesting. If you want an easy A, take her! She's super sweet, answers emails fast and gives you plenty of time to submit Quizzes and Discussions. There was 6 discussions (with the lowest one dropped) and 4 quizzes (lowest one dropped). TAKE HER!!

Great teacher. No midterm, final, or research paper, literally just 4 quizzes & 6 discussion post (drops lowest of each). Really went out of her way to make sure you got a good grade (provided 3 extra opportunities that boosted your grade by entire letter grade). Class was incredibly interesting, would highly recommend her to anyone.

This class is fantastic and really interesting if you care at all about social justice issues. The lectures are informative and laid back with no note taking required. There are no tests and max 5 500 words or less writing assignments. There is one big group project that acts as a final but she is a very lenient grader and will help when needed.

Professor Burns is a very wonderful and sweet teacher. Her lectures are more of a discussion with the class, asking us for our thoughts on everything. She gives 7 extra credit discussions on movies that we could watch at home, which is great. She is very considerate of every student and I recommend taking her.

The dream. No textbooks, 2 multiple choice papers (one done online), engaging lectures that were so useful for personal growth as well as tests, soooo many extra credit opportunities, maybe about 15 in total, which meant I finished with over 100%. I would take this class again if I could.

This class was honestly SO easy & so interesting. The class was online and there was only four discussions and four quizzes - the lowest of each dropped. The answers are within the articles underneath the modules in canvas. The only 'hard' thing about this class is getting the discussions to 300 words per question. But nonetheless, VERY easy.

I cant stress enough how amazing Dr. Burns is. She is clearly very intelligent and cares so much about her students. She tries so hard to make everyone pass. Lectures are interesting. Shes super sweet & caring! Shes really inclusive and overall, easy A. 2 exams, 20-25 questions (Multiple Choice) SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT, do them theyre worth A LOT!

Easy A+, 5 discussions and 4 exams (1 discussion and 1 exam dropped). Discussions are a bit tedious but doable, 300 word post for each question (ex. 2 questions then 600 word post) respond to at least 2 classmates for full credit. Ample enough time to complete discussions, don't slack off. Text book is NOT REQUIRED.

Attendance is not mandatory and the class is really easy. Professor Burns lectures are really fascinating and interesting, definitely recommend this class.

EASIEST UPPER DIVISION GL CLASS!! She makes the course so simple and easy, this class is great to take if you're taking other difficult classes. Total for 5 discussions (300 words per quest./max 2 or 3 questions) & she drops two of your lowest posts, and total of 5 quizzes (use quizlet) & she drops ur lowest one. SUPER EASY! it's a breeze

Easy A. No book required. She provides the powerpoints/ articles that the discussions and quizzes are based off of. Very nice, and responds quickly. She drops lowest discussion and quiz, you can even just skip 2 of the discussions and 1 quiz because it will be dropped. Easy class, valuable content.

Great class. Burns is so passionate about sexual assault, its super inspiring. No exams in this class, just writing assignments and group projects. Projects are cool because you come up with ways to improve sexual assault at FIU and she works with you if you want to really make the program happen. Every college student should take this class!

The topics we discuss are extremely important and she goes above and beyond to make sure we understand and that what we discuss is implemented on campus. If I could take every class w/ her I would.

A real gem at FIU. Summer A course and you'll have 4 quizzes with 2 discussions. 2 of the 4 quizzes are dropped BUT they are not found online and you will have to read the readings to pass. The discussions are easy but lengthy but again if you read the readings you'll be fine.

1 syllabus quiz, 4 quizzes (2 of your lowest dropped), and 2 discussions. Theres like 3 hours of material in each module to read/watch BUT the quizzes are easy enough that you can just skim everything and pass. Dr. Burns is a sweetheart. In no way does she try to make the class difficult. Easy A & if you actually want to learn you absolutely can!

2 discussions, 4 quizzes, 1 syllabus quiz & 1 extra credit opportunity. This class is fairly easy. If youre not familiar with LGBTQ+ community it may be a slightly more difficult for you but if you are a lot of it is common sense. You do have to skim the module material if youre not going to read it all. Regardless, this class is easily passable.

I have taken two courses with Dr. Burns, who is a pleasure to work with. I seldom come across professors who take the time to review my work and give me in-depth feedback. Her feedback is hyper-specific - not generic. She answers emails in a timely fashion. There are discussion boards that are lengthy; however, she allots enough time for those.

I took this class as an elective for my Psychology Major, and it was a lot interesting. Even tho it was an online class, the professor was always on top of the deadlines, and letting us know if something changed throughout the semester. Amazing class.

I LOVED this professor. I took her as an elective course but was so interested in the course I'm taking another course she teaches next semester as another elective. Assignments are easy if you are on top of them, just take her you won't regret it.

This professor truly goes above and beyond in her feedback to students, and makes it evident that she truly cares about each student and their unique perspectives. No textbook is required, all assignments are engaging, and readings are interesting. Overall, 100% recommend to students looking for a thought-provoking course and wonderful professor!

Her course is not heavy but you learn a lot

Took this class for summer A and it was super interesting. We only had to do 1/3 discussions and 2/3 quizzes. There was a fun paper to write on health disparities at the end. Extremely easy but fun class, just do your work, read the articles you're interested in, and you'll get an A. The professor was also very helpful and nice when I emailed her!
