she's overall nice, but has a small attitude problem and wont' take stuff from anyone. She is not a very good teacher and I'm not sure if she even knows the material enough to teach it(during lecture) =( She wasn't planning to give extra credit, but I guess after many people begged(and needed it) she did. She's alright for lab, but avoid lecture

Horrible teacher: reads off of PowerPoint slides the whole time, will not answer any questions. Does not know simple math, does not care about her students. Don't take her class unless you can learn everything about chem on your own. I have a 4.0 and dropped her for a better teacher next semester. Now I make sure I read the ratings first!! Don't make the same mistake I did!

Victoria Castells is by far the worst teacher I have had the year I have attended MDC and in any other school. She literally reads off her powerpoint slides non stop, and usually repeats the same information that's on the slide and copies it onto to board. If you ask for help, she will tell you "too bad." I had to drop to keep my A average!

Honestly, I was a bit scared to take her class after reading the past comments about her. But, in the contrary, she's not that bad! Gives 5 exams and drops the lowest. She hands out her powerpoints @ the beginning of each class so we can follow. Final is cummulative so you must study. With the PP handouts and the book I am a passing w/ an A so far.

First off I got an A in her class, however I did it all by myself. This is the worst professor I've ever seen. We finished at 4 chapters behind than other classes. She doesn't care about you. She just reads the slides and confuses you, when you can see in the book how EASY it is. IF you like Chemistry --> Get another class as soon as you can.

So overall, very easy class. You do need to buy the textbook if you plan on getting an A. If not, she does use PowerPoint slides to lecture and writes calculations and steps on the board. Take notes!! She has a very thick Spanish accent, but it's easy to understand what she's saying for the most part. Do not miss too many classes. It's a very easy class. You just need to make sure you study and read the book. I've learned more from the book than I have from her.

This professor is really good and I definitely recommend. The work is all on Aleks and it is a lot of to do but the assignments help a lot towards your grade and you also have a lot of time to get them done and if you need an extension she will give it to you. Quizzes and tests are not proctored.

She is super easy to pass. All homework on Aleks. Unlimited attempts in the homework and 2 attempts in all 4 tests (unproctored). Only thing I don't like is that she has yet to answer any of my emails. If you just want an easy chem class, take her. If you actually want to learn chem, take someone else.

Her class is very easy, ALL of her assignments are on ALEKS, they are not proctored and you get multiple attempts for quizzes and 2 attempts for tests and you only need to do what you did wrong again not the correct ones. The only thing I would say against her is that it is somewhat difficult to actually learn due to the way ALEKS functions.

This Professor is very flexible, Every lecture comes with a quiz so in total 19 lectures (modules) come with 9 quizzes. 4 Tests and she extends homework If you email her. All work is on Aleks which you need to dedicate time to cause it is similar to Pearson or Mymathlab.

She's an angel I love her :] All she does is lecture, everything is recorded too. Assignments are on ALEKS and exams are based directly on the HW, so don't fall behind. She is super sweet and understanding, and she gives extensions if needed. Not afraid to answer questions either. Take her!

ALEKS makes this class braindead easy to pass. Even if you don't know anything, you can eventually grind your way to a 100% on everything. I wish every class used ALEKS.

You just use ALEKS which I personally love because it explains it and you have unlimited attempts. Only 4 tests but it exactly like the homework.

Her lecture is okay, very boring professor. if you take her for Lab be prepared to not understand one single thing because not even she understands the material. every time we would ask her a question she would get annoyed as if its not her job. tough grader and does not exactly tell you what you did wrong. do yourself a favor and skip her lab!!!

as long as you put the work you should get an A, all the class is through ALEKS system where you do your homework, tests are very similar to the homework so no surprises on tests so I find her fair, she tests on what she teaches like it should be, as long as you keep completing tasks on time u will be fine. accent not that heavy. no proctored tests

Pros: only the regular form paper to deliver (other prof make u write a lot), she writes on board the process to get the results. Cons: doesn't clarify much during class, no study guide for 2 tests (go by key words on notebook and picture memory, honestly that's stressing), no quizzes to boost grades or serve as guide for tests

This course is partly easy and partly hard sometimes due to her lecture lessons. She seems to be a very good professor and give extension to the students' assignments when they're falling behind. For the tests, they have 2 chances to get a grade even better than the first attempt. This course requires a lot of patience and practice.

Prof Castells uses ALEKS for the entire course. ALEKS homework and test uses the same format, making it easy to study. HW, quizzes and tests on ALEKS and she drops your lowest test. 2 attempts for the tests. She can be monotone, but sweet and patient otherwise. I would take her again, you can build your progress on ALEKS, which is why I like it.

She is alright. The homework is alot you have alot of reading to do. Sends weekly updates and responds in a timely matter. No study guide, final and midterm were 10% and homework is 30%. Class was organized to follow along. Just too many things due at once for a six week class lol.

Very nice Professor, all her work is on ALEKS (Assignments, Quizzes, Tests). Assignments are challenging since you have to get 2 or 3 questions right in a row in order to complete a module. You really have to understand the material in order to complete it. 3 tests on lockdown Aleks, 2 attempts which RLLY help, you only do the ones you got wrong.

The work/tests are easy as long as you pay attention & keep up. The grade consisted of 8 chapters (module, quiz, test) & 3 very simple assignments. She provides you w/ the ppts, video lectures, extra videos, & any table/info needed. However, her lectures can be a bit boring & it was hard for her to keep the class engaged. Easy A.
