Great teacher! She is so easy and funny. All the tests were from the online quizzes and from the back of the book ques. And her final was from the tests. She gives quite a bit of extra credit too. Take her if u can.
Class was relatively easy. If you read the book and go to lectures you should do good on the tests. She is funny sometimes and she is really cheesy! ahaha which is a good thing. She gives extra credit which are basically previews to the midterms, VERY HELPFUL!
Very Organized teacher. Her lectures were clear as crystal. Demos are fun. take the online quizzes;they not only fetch you extra credit, but also basically give you the test and midterm questions. Keep your tests and review them for the final. You'll be all set.
She was very dry and made the class pretty boring. I didn't like her teaching style, but her tests were fine. Not a bad class, but not very interesting.
ORGANIZED, ENTERTAINING, PROVIDED EXAPMLES THAT RELATED TO LECTURES. SOME TEST QUESTIONS COME FORM THE PRACTICE QUIZZES. PAPER EASY.SHE RECORDS HER LECTURES, VERY ORGANIZED AND SHE KNOWS HER MATERIAL
The tests were very easy. Her style is clear- she gives lots of examples! She provided audio recordings of the lectures...very helpful if you miss class. Cute accent
Very fair grader (best two of three exams at 45% each). Make sure to attend class (counts for 5% of the grade) and to do a brief online discussion board assignment (the other 5%). Does offer up to 3% extra credit. Very interesting to talk with and is one of the best professors I have taken here. I will end up taking her when she teaches HDE 101
Straightforward and friendly professor
Not the most exciting class but she's straightforward, helpful, easy, easy, easy, and easy. Cute accent, good appearance, fun TA, interesting videoes, easy tests, easy but helpful homework, what more can you ask for, take the class!
Great professor and class! Really straight forward, you will know what you need to do to get an A. Videos and examples were usually interesting and helpful. Home work was pretty easy and not super time consuming. Tests were straight forward, study lecture and online practice quizzes. Power point notes and recordings of lecture.
great professor; provides you with everything you need to know on the exam; take the class!!
her lectures are really long and boring, but we use the clickers which makes it a little better. tests were hard and she gives no help on what to study for. okay teacher overall...really cheesey stories!
She teaches very slowly, and because of this she's less clear (also her rambling/stuttering) and not interesting. A lot of students go for participation and end up sleeping or leaving early. More than half of the class receive C's or C-'s on the midterms. There are better PSC professors. You'll want the textbook studyguide if you take this class.
The class was very boring and attendance was mandatory due to the (annoying) use of clickers. Cross tries to make the class enjoyable by making jokes, but they just come off as lame. Four tests total, including the final, and she takes the three highest grades. Without a doubt, one of the worst classes I have ever taken at Davis.
I don't know why Dr. Cross' ratings are so high. She's confusing, unclear, and her exams are really difficult-- you literally have no idea what to study for. The class average usually hovers around a C. My only advice is don't take her, and if you do, do EVERY practice problem associated with the book, because that's the only way to really prepare.
i thought psych MIGHT be interesting. but her lectures are boring. what bothers me that SHE DOESN'T CURVE. if you expect to take this class, i suggest u to thoroughly read the book and go through her lectures. her tests are hard in the way that she expects you to know every single detail. i TRIED SO HARD to get a B, but i only got a 77% C. ugh.
She is nice, but lectures are realllllly boring and long. Exams are incredibly difficult so keep up with the reading. She is approachable and responsive to emails. Over all though the class was so hard to sit though. Basically a 2 hour nap.
pretty easy class. keep up with lectures/reading. she posts all her lectures and podcasts. exams were a bit difficult but she does give you all of the information you need to know. best 2 of 3 exams (final optional). but w/ 2 midterms, alot of info in one exam. approachable during office hrs. overall she is nice and the class is average
3 exams and will drop the lowest one. Difficult test even though there are some questions from the online quizzes. Mean TA! Weekly online homework. Overall, not an easy class!
The lectures are sooo long! The material is very interesting but Professor Cross can make it a little dull. The tests are easy if you study the notes extra credit quizzes. She podcasts and posts the lectures on line so that makes it a lot easier to study. She doesn't curve so you have to study! Cramming does not work in this class!
Her lectures were kind of a long two hours, but she kept us engaged and active with the clickers. You really need to read the book, the tests are EASY.
She was nice but her teaching was boring and long. She was good about giving examples but tests, compared to other teachers at the time, were harder. She did, however, post her podcasts and notes, which in the end helped more than going to class. DON'T buy the book becasue it is only used for extra credit, 100 bucks i could have used else where.
Overall I thought Professor Cross was very good. She did the best she could with the lectures and managed to keep us engaged most of the time by using student volunteers and conducting in class experiments. Tests are extremely difficult, you need to study a lot if you want to pass this class.
she really kept the class engaged and interesting, she shows us tons of video, did a lot of experiments on the class and gave good examples so we could know the concepts better. uses clickers A LOT so you need to show up for lecture. 3 midterms with optional final, tests are harder then I expected them to be, but if you pay attention, youll do fine
All the whiners that left bad reviews earlier are just stupid freshmen who thought psych 1 would be an easy A. Cross does a great job with the material she is required to go over in an intro psych class. Definitely read the book it helps a lot and use the online companion site, she takes some test questions strait from the practice quizzes there
Highly recommend!!! She goes into all the information on a basic level. For tests, know the general definition of all the terms, their main points, and purpose of each CogLab. MEMORIZE her lecture slides for the tests and skim the book. She drops lowest test score. 3 midterms and a final. 10% of grade based on weekly online Coglab assignments.
Amazing professor! She is really enthusiastic about the course material, makes exams easy, and posts podcast and lecture slides on smartsite! I only opened the text book once, and I got an B+.
Decent teacher, keeps lectures somewhat entertaining + podcasts too. 3% extra credit for doing xtra online labs which I highly recommend as my grade went from B+ to A-. 2 midterms, 1 cumulative final and really worth it to take all 3. Easy A if you go to lectures and do all online labs. Do NOT buy book just skim chapters & summaries @ library.
Clear lectures, with a cool British accent. Podcasted and uploaded notes from all lectures. Midterm questions were from lecture, not the book. 2 midterms, 1 Final. Final was 75 questions, and 70 were from previous exams. Offered easy extra credit. I got an A. Really nice professor. I recommend taking her class.
Everything the last rater said, emphasis on how fascinating she makes the subject. her enthusiasm is hard to pass up, plus her accent keeps you alert! :) You use the txtbk website more than the book, so you can get by w/out buying it. the online hmwrk each week is interesting too. SUPER friendly, A+ teacher! I cant wait to take more courses w/ her.
She makes you have to do online modules, read and attend lecture because her slides are incomplete otherwise. That is the ok part. The horrible part is that her tests do not have the same questions on the different versions of the test. This makes it really difficult to study for the final. Then when we came to the final, she didn't print enough!!!
Easy class! Online modules provided easy A points, and the final was optional as long as you did okay on the first two exams! Professor Cross is engaging and is enthusiastic about the subject--great professor!
Very good teacher. Easy class, will take for other classes.
Great prof!!!!!! highly recommended!
Very helpful teacher. She makes the material interesting. If you study mostly the slides for tests, you'll do well. However, there are a few book questions. I definitely recommend her class! Great teacher!
She is the best professor i ever had! her psc 100 class is fairly eazy. she is very enthusiastic and passionate about what she is teaching and it always felt that the class went by very quickly. we had 2 midterms and 1 final (which is optional) and CogLabs which you get full points for doing it- and they are fun! BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!
Amazing prof!!! She is so enthusiastic about the material, which makes it easy for one to understand and learn the material. If you go to office hours, she really makes sure that you understand concepts she covered in class and if you need help on your paper she helps you in every aspect of the paper-writing process. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
Victoria is an excellent lecturer; clear, concise, gives memorable examples...and easy on the eyes and ears. Come prepared & rested and you'll learn a ton. She clearly has a passion for teaching, answers questions well, and will help a motivated student make connections in the dept; I just wish her cog development course fit my schedule!
Not very clear and is a little boring kinda confusing actually on what she wants from us
The instructor is clear and is easy to understand, however be careful with the TAs since nothing is good enough for them. Also you have to talk to the TAs for any grading questions, which doesn't make sense, what is the instructor for is for lecture?
The TA's are strict on grading and aren't entirely useful during office hours. They'll just reassure you that you got the answer wrong with no further explanation. Dr. Cross lectures well, but she does nothing concerning the grades. Don't take this class - you won't like it and it isn't easy. Dr. Mitchell is a much better instructor and a lot nicer
she is an awesome teacher and gave open book tests, but if you don't read and understand the material well, you will not do well, as the tests study your comprehension of topics (not just definitions). TA's I couldn't figure out, I spent tons of time on my rough draft got B+ and corrected everything they asked and got A- ??? Squeaked an A.
She's nice and pretty entertaining in lecture. Uses examples that help the material stick with you. Stats isn't the most exciting subject, but the context helps liven it up. Lets you drop one worksheet of 8, one midterm (or optional final) of 4. Makes you spend $50 on a clicker for 10% of your grade - borrow a friend's. Can skip class, but read.
Great professor! Interesting lectures and makes sure to answer questions thoroughly. There are weekly worksheets that are graded harshly, but if you can get the hang of them they'll help your grade. Tests are a bit tricky but not too bad overall. If you've taken Stats you'll get a good grade!
Overall a great professor. There are weekly worksheets that are graded very harshly by the TAs, so pay attention to detail and answer questions fully. The wkshts help immensely when it comes to remembering material. Exams are fair, and one is dropped. Cross is funny, passionate, and good at teaching. I highly recommend taking this class with her.
Very dull subject... she made it bearable but still not very interesting. Super dry topic, hard to study. Try to take a more energetic prof if possible. Nice lady though.
Dr. Cross is a great teacher when it comes to teaching the material.BUT, her tests are way too long for the given time to do them, lot of people don't finish. TA's grade very harshly. Hard to get an A in the class but you'll definitely learn a lot. I don't feel like the grades are representative of how much we really learned in the class.
The weekly worksheets can be a bit challenging, but Dr. Cross assigns them because they are EXTREMELY helpful when it comes to studying for the exams. She herself is also SUPER helpful in office hours. She is very dedicated to helping students succeed. Dr. Cross for PSC41 = an interesting yet challenging class, with lots of help available to you.:)
Very good professor, crystal clear and extremely helpful but I'm not interested in this class cuz the subject is too boring. Highly recommend though
Cross is extremely clear, very organized, and interesting to listen to. Lecture notes and podcasts are posted online. Worksheets due once a week that are EXACTLY like the written portion of the test. The subject is a bit boring but if you have to take this class take it with Cross. She is an amazing prof.
Ultimately a good class. Clicker quizzes got students to attend lectures, but were not too challenging to be worried about. Extremely clear and simplifying lectures and incorporation of interesting studies made dull material bearable. Cute accent. Worksheets were annoyingly long but helpful. Book barely needed.
She can lecture a bit fast sometimes and assumes that you already know the material that she's teaching. The class is so boring which makes it hard to focus. The worksheets are challenging but very heplful when preparing for the exams. Her TA Daniel is AMAZING!! He gives a crystal clear breakdown of whatever questions you have!
The teacher is organized and nice but she goes through her lecture slides a little bit too fast for my learning style. Also, the timing for her exams are ridiculous. Many people do not finish and I barely finished my exams and usually had about 2 minutes left to spare for each. The worksheets are difficult and the grading is a bit harsh.
Easy class but professor is an unfair and tough grader on the worksheets. I highly do not recommend this professor. She is not helpful, unorganized, and doesn't care about her students. She is an awful person.
her class was difficult, but i enjoyed her as a professor (i had her for childhood trauma). go to her office hours because she will review all the questions you and your peers ask. make sure you practice answering the critical thinking qs because it'll help you on the test. AND BE THOROUGH ON THE WKSHTS! they dock a lot of points if you aren't
This class was not very difficult. If you paid attention, did your homework, read the books, and made an effort to review before exams, there should be no problem getting a B. Some of her worksheets were hard, others were easy - TA's are precise in what they want for responses. Review your notes before you have the clicker quizzes (tricky).
Dr. Cross was very nice and helpful. It's completely necessary to go to class since it's 25% of the grade. The assignments are pretty easy. The course was informative and fun overall.
I found doing the homework worksheet assignments in a study group every week was extremely helpful.
I thought this was going to be an easy class. She has weekly assignments that can be hard or easy, but the TA's grade tough. You cant understand the material and pass the class, you have to know the stuff. I got a 69 percent although i got C's on the assignments and a B on my final. I had done bad on one test and it ruined it. She doesn't curve.
Dr. Cross was funny, enthusiastic, and intelligent. People complain about the worksheets but if you pay attention in class and look over the lecture slides when stuck, they're not bad at all. The TAs can be picky, though (I lost points for wording at times...). If you did well on the worksheets, the midterms are a breeze.
Cross is a really nice professor. However her grading is extremely hard. She allows the use of "cheat sheets" on exams which do help a lot. With that said, if you dont do well on the worksheets you are in for disappointment. The in class quizzes are easy however you only have about 30 seconds per Q so god forbid your clicker isnt working properly.
Cross is a good teacher. Lectures are clear and straight to the point. Her class is, however, very damn hard. Attending class is "mandatory", as in you never know when she is going to drop you with a quiz. Grading is STRICT, I mean REALLY STRICT. NO CURVE. Avg for my class is 79%. Also Exams are a rush, 40 MC & Written portion in 1hr30min!
Prof. Cross was awesome! I understand where people are coming from when they say the worksheets are graded harshly but if you go to your TA's office hours, they are more than willing to help you! Professor Cross also has office hours which can be very useful at times and it really helped me understand the dull material better.
I really enjoyed this class, but be aware it's hardly psychology subject matter. Very technical details pertaining to experiments. It isn't easy, but you learn a lot, and Cross is never boring.
Dr. Cross is amazing! Don't take this class with anyone else! She teaches you the material and makes it fun and easy. I actually remember nearly all the material in the class. Got an A, missed A+ by less than 1%. Amazing professor!
Dr. Cross's class is extremely interesting and you do learn a lot from it. If you have taken PSC 1 then you definitely wanna take this course so all the individual concepts you learned suddenly make sense now. She (and the TAs) is really picky, but the tests and hws are straightforward, you may get a C at first, but you gradually pick up!
Great teacher who provides all the information to you for tests. 3 midterms and an optional final. Required online text for weekly quizzes/assignments, but extra credit if you do them all. Makes the material interesting and makes remembering very easy.
Dr. Cross is a great teacher. She keeps lectures interesting and she is very helpful in office hours. She drops the lowest test, worksheet, and participation score too. The class isn't curved, but as long as you are precise in your language on the worksheets and free response section, you should be fine.
Class is boring, but not hard. Cross is awesome, she makes the subject interesting with funny studies. Lots of really nit-picky homework's and the TA's are unforgiving. Tests are fair and you get a full page cheat sheet. 3 Midterms, optional final, and you need to go to lecture because 10% is based on in-class clicker points
The material is kind of interesting, and the midterms were easy because we get a page of notes on it. The worksheets do take a good amount of time, but they are very repetitive and easy to master after the first few. Did not own a textbook and it was not needed at all for the midterms or worksheets.
Class is doable but very detail oriented. It might seem easy during lecture, but the homework and exams are very picky and the weekly homework takes a good few solid hours to do well. Lowest exam and homework of the quarter is dropped. Getting a B is completely doable, getting an A will require a little more effort. Good teacher and good lecturer.
Make sure to take a LOT of time on worksheets! Don't need the textbook. Tests are entirely from lecture. Go to class for clicker questions. A full page front and back cheat sheet for exams. Drops lowest score from exams. TA grading is RUTHLESS. Ask Cross for help, the TA's are useless. Just somewhat pay attention, do the worksheets, easy B+.
Seriously an amazing professor that actually cares about how well her students do in her class. Doesn't try to trick you on the multiple choice. Test are largely based on notes and lecture Go to office hours as well as TA office hours and you'll do great. Amazing TA's as well Highly recommend. But you won't get an A doing nothing, have to work hard
Amazing professor. She gives lectures actually worth going to. It's a very easy class. Worksheet grading is a bit tedious but the material is basically common sense and self explanatory. Tests are some of the easiest exams I have taken in the university.
Dr. Cross was easily my favorite professor this quarter. Her office hours were very helpful, and she was clear and passionate in all of her lectures, which are not mandatory but are VERY worth attending. The class is definitely not an easy A, but if you work hard, it can be done. Don't take this class with anyone else!
I am a Psychology major and this is one of those classes that I personally liked the LEAST. The Grading in this class is really and I mean REALLY strict, you would lose points really quickly so no margin of error. DO NOT TAKE IT if you are looking for an easy A. After A lot of hard work I ended up getting a B-.
Dr. Cross is simply an amazing professor. She gave wonderful lectures that were very easy to understand. The worksheets were graded harshly but by understanding one's mistakes on the worksheets one could avoid said mistakes on midterms. I recommend attending office hours and the class will be a breeze!
Dr. Cross is amazing. Attendance is mandatory because of clicker Qs but they're easy ones. Her office hours are extremely helpful too, it's like a more in-depth lecture with a more intimate setting. Exams are not a problem in this class, the worksheets are. You should go to office hours to ask questions about the worksheets before you submit them.
She is amazing. I did not want to take this class at all, and it ended up being my favorite. She explains things well, she's approachable and is always willing to help. The course is very challenging, but I also found it very enjoyable. I would recommend this class, and her as an instructor.
Cross is a great lecturer. TA's grade the worksheets pretty hard but all around it was a good class. Attendance is mandatory because of clickers.
The class was pretty easy. Professor Cross is a great lecturer, but COMPLETELY inaccessible by e-mail. I e-mailed her 5 times throughout the quarter, and never once received any response. Her homework assignments are a bit tedious, but certainly help in retaining the information for the exams. 3 exams, optional final. Great class
As people said, her worksheets are pretty tedious and you have to be attentive to what she is looking for, but they really help prepare you for the short answer part on exams (the other part is multiple choice, which do challenge you to apply what you've learned). Very enthusiastic and has a cute English accent!
Cross is an amazing professor, and I took 140 because she was amazing in research methods. This class relied heavily on the book and reading is required to do well. The tests are mainly straight forward multiple choice with some specific questions to separate the As from the Bs . I enjoyed the class but the two hour lecture was pretty long.
great!
I adore Cross. Her class challenged but motivated the hell outta me. The worksheets are certainly time consuming, but prepare you leaps and bounds for the exams. Textbook is an essential aid! She is very clear, a great lecturer, and she makes the class interesting. As a current undergraduate tutor for her Research Methods course, I recommend her!
I was not happy to have to take this class but Prof Cross is great! I ended up getting a much higher grade than I had expected. The tests are not hard but the homework is. Take your time with the homework and you'll do great. Take her for this class. You won't be disappointed. Also, you really don't need the book.
I love this lady. She mad a horribly boring requirement an amazing educational class. Its a tough subject but she does her best to make it as easy as possible for you. She puts up a ton of recourses online for you, USE THEM! Show up for class because of the clickers but stay because she's an awesome teacher. Really knows her stuff! She'll prepare u
Victoria is a passionate lecturer and her office hours are like another lecture, but with much fewer students.
Prof Cross is sooo nice! I love her. She teaches with such a passion and she is admired by a lot of students. If you have the chance to take her, please do.
She is seriously the best. I went in thinking I was going to fail and ended up with a B+. I graduated this year and Prof. Cross remains as one of my favorite profs. Class is not that hard!
Professor Cross is the best lecturer I've ever seen. I thought this class would be super boring (research methods? ugh), but she made it my favorite class. She's very engaging and funny and makes the material super clear and easy to understand. If you do the weekly assignments you'll do great on the tests. Take her if you have the chance!
Professor Cross is a great lecturer. The content is boring, but she made the concepts super clear and easy to understand and the class engaging. The weekly worksheets are time-consuming but not that hard if you understand the material. Extra credit and opportunities for grade improvement are offered. PSC 41 was my favorite class this quarter!
The class is time consuming. I got high A in class but I worked hard for it. Read the text book for extra credit quiz and MC part of exam (whatever she didn't cover in class, isn't going to be on the exam). Go to office hours. The worksheets help for the written part of exams. The final is optional which is very nice. TAs are helpful. Easy to get B
Lots of busywork, hard to determine final grade ahead of time, but if you keep at it it should eventually even out. Hard to understand what is required for tests. Worksheets every week, 3 midterms plus optional final - worth taking since lowest dropped (feels easier than midterms) . Office hours are helpful. Engaging professor though.
I really liked Professor Cross. She was smart, funny, and a fairly good lecturer. I didn't care about the material and she didn't do very well at making it interesting for us, but class was tolerable (and necessary because she used an iClicker).
TAKE Professor Cross' Data Visualization Course!!! It is a hybrid course that just started and I have learned SO much about how to use Excel and create graphs and it is a 4 unit course! Don't slack off, stay on track to keep up! Overall, GREAT CLASS, HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO TAKE!! Also prepares you for Intro to Stat! :)
Go to her lectures. The material is relevant, and important. If that doesn't sway you, then maybe her British accent will. Excellent class overall.
Loved Professor Cross. She is so sweet & passionate about psychology. She is so willing to help & to make sure that you understand the material. Midterms are straight forward and easy if you go to class & do the lectures.
Class could have been a lot more boring, but she was such great lecturer. Go to class; listening to her makes the material stick to your brain. There was homework every week, but they aren't that bad. Didn't have to study as much for this class.
Dr. Cross is excellent! Although I wasn't interested in the material, she made it fun & easy! Clicker q's in lecture have a big impact on grades. Go to OH for any hw questions you have before turning it in, she gives a few freebies if you ask the right q's. I read the book according to the calendar- hw&exams were a piece of cake because of this.
There are 3 midterms, and final. She drops the lowest one, so if you do well on first 3 midterms, you wont have to take final! The smartsite worksheets she has you do are a great way to practice for midterms. She is an amazing professor, very clear, with no curveballs. Her office hours are extremely helpful. Material is not too difficult.
Professor Cross is incredible!! For a class that seems boring, she really makes Psych 41 one of the most enjoyable classes you'll take. Go to lecture, read the textbook chapters, do the worksheets, and go to office hours weekly (she literally gives you the answers) and you'll have an A. She has many resources, utilize them and you will succeed.
Dr. Cross is amazing. Her lectures are really informative and she goes over lots of examples. Her exams are fair and straightforward. She tells you what's going to be on it. The weekly worksheets aren't very hard either. There are extra credit quizzes that can raise your grade by up to 2% and she drops your lowest written/MC score (ie. opt. final).
This class was so horribly boring. I did not enjoy it personally but Cross is a wonderful professor. She is always engaged in the material and explains to the best of her ability. No tricks of any sort. Very straight forward and yes she does drop lowest exam, written exam, and worksheet.
Professor is Wonderful, approachable and very friendly!! Course content is crystal clear and very generous on grades (Although u have to work for it). Course information is dense, so be prepared to beat down 12 chapters in a single quarter. Drops lowest exam and optional final is the Cake! Overall, doable & Recommended.
Overall, she is very knowledgeable and nice. However, i think she should just stick with teaching Research methods. Awful structure and heavy research methods. There were about 10 chapters each exam (2 exams) and the final was cumulative (optional). So total of 3 exams, with 1 dropped. THis is a tough class and she did not make it any easier.
I took her PSC 41 before and thought that she was a great teacher. Now I'm taking her PSC 100, her lectures are super boring. Lecture slices are very long and contend too many trivial things that don't matter. 85 multiple choices in each exam. Need to remember a lot and hard to get a good grade.
I really did not enjoy Cross' class. Her exams are tricky and the wording can be confusing. i didnt think they were straight forward at all. Does give a lot of chances to boost your grade. I personally just found this class super dull and her slides were not helpful in the slightest. The examples in class are so bizarre and I would get so lost.
Midterms are fair, but is difficult to complete in amount of time given. Professor is pretty boring, but material in lecture is directly related to exams - no tricks. Don't really need book, but it helps to reference and clarifies topics. Homework is somewhat time consuming and don't always relate to lecture.
Lecture is very boring and full of info not related to the exam. You don't even need the book. I made the mistake of reading the book and it did not help with the exam. Only study her slides and remember definitions. She makes this class very hard and tests are not straightforward. Tests are full of tricky wordy questions.
Professor Cross is incredible, but the structure of this course: 90% exam weighted grade is a bit ridiculous. She is a great lecturer, very kind, and accessible for help in office hours. Read the book, take notes, and go to lecture and you should be able to get an A. Exams aren't difficult, but you need to know the material. Great class overall!!
She is a great teacher to take if you are new to the UC standard. Great for transfers!
Victoria is super knowledgeable in Cognitive Psych, and a passionate teacher always makes for a good lecturer. I went every class period, but I believe she podcasts. I didn't use the book and got a B in the class. People who did use the book got As. You NEED to study for these tests because they make up about 90% of the grade. Take if you 3 psych.
Overall this was an average class. Keep in mind: a lot of her great rating on here are for PSC 42... not 100. She is very disorganized as a lecturer (which can sometimes make it boring). You have to go to class or at least listen to the podcast and take great notes (test questions stem from here). Don't bother with textbook.
Don't take this class unless youre willing to work for an A. Id say average grade for the class is a B. Doesn't curve but offers 2% EC. to top it off weekly HW, she assigns research participation to pass the class. 30% HW,60% tests, 5% participation, 5% video worksheets. Tests are long(youll be rushing)and a lot of work is expected. boring lectures
The class was easier than I expected. DEFINITELY go to office hours because that was the only way I got an A. There is hw (online worksheet) every week and I went to office hours and she basically gives the answers. She allows cheat sheets for midterm/final. You can drop one midterm or final. Do the work and don't overthink answers to questions!
I highly don't recommend this class over summer session. Dr. Cross made this course load very heavy with little room to grow since her tests are so hard. The test answers she provides make little to no sense so although you may know the answer to a question, good luck finding it! 10/10 don't recommend once again.
I took her for psc 100Y this summer. We had exams every week and worksheets every week, but I found it doable. The exams are only 30 questions each. Not a very easy A, but If you study the lecture videos and understand the concepts, you should be okay. Didn't use the book. It was not as hard as a lot of people said.
Please do NOT underestimate this class! Do the worksheets, go to OH, the EC, and STUDY for the exams! The exams are long so you always feel rushed, but try try your best. My biggest issue was the subjectivity of the grading, go to OH and find out what you are doing wrong, that way you don't keep making the same mistakes. Be ready to work hard!
The only reason I went to lecture is because there is (annoying) participation points via iClicker questions. The material is easy to grasp. The homework is graded like an online quiz, but is easy. Her exams are a bit long, but otherwise are easy. Because she drops your lowest exam, I didn't even have to take the final. The class is an easy A.
If you complete the worksheets with time, you will get a good grade. She gives a lot of EC opportunities that bump up your grade 2%. 3 Midterms that are lengthy, but if you study, you will do well. An optional final, she drops your lowest test score. Cheat sheets are also allowed during tests. Read book, complete all assignments, and STUDY!
If you're those usual empty minded students that just memorizes terms, expecting to get an A through memorization, then this class will definitely mess you up. You need to be able to apply these concepts by thinking critically. Although this professor is a bit disorganized notes wise, she's a very solid choice for this course.
Prof Cross' class size was massive. You won't get a personal relationship in her PSC041 class, though it wasn't necessary for me as I never felt the need to ask her questions. She does quizzes daily with the clicker to check for attendance, and her exams are fairly straight forward application of statistical analysis in a psychology setting.
There is a small amount of extra credit, she drops the lowest worksheet grade (there are 8 total), and the lowest exam is dropped if you take the final. There is SOME room to mess up, you can miss one class, but this class has so much written work that is harshly graded AND there are research requirements so it's definitely time consuming.
There's a total of 8 homework assignments as she drops the lowest one. There's 3 midterms and an optional final. Her office hours are very useful! it is basically another intimate lecture. attendance is mandatory via iclicker questions. she also offers a small proportion of extra credit (answers on quizlet). midterms get harder as time passes by.
Professor cross is hands down one of the best professors. She holds office hours every week in which she basically gives u the homework answers and explains them to you as well. the worksheets are worth 30% of your grade and i spent so much time on them to get an A in the class. TA's are also very helpful. great lecturer but kind of intimidating
Dr. Cross is phenomenal. Shes super passionate about what she does and is not at all boring to listen to. She loves interacting with the class. We had quizzes (10% grade) and homework (20% grade) everyweek + 5 midterms with lowest dropped & cumulative final. The worksheets really make you work for it. Do well on them & utilize office hours.
Took PSC 41 with her during summer session. She is very clear about her points and explain things very well. There is a worksheet every week and she drops the lowest one. There are also a lot of exams, but study hard and you will get an A. A little bit of basic knowledge in statistics will help.
She's really nice and knowledgeable but there are weekly lab quizzes that really make or break your grade. Her lectures were two hours long when I took her accompanied with clicker questions that go way too fast for participation points. Basically a class learning about Excel and gets very technical with statistic terms. She's passionate tho!
Her lectures are clear and interesting. She uses a lot of examples to demonstrate her contents. Homework and exams are easy, as long as you study, you can get an A. Partipation matters and don't forget your icliker.
1st Midterm Easy the next 2 Midterms study!!! Cause they are hard. Optional Final was average, show up to class, do the WS and get high scores they will help (go to OF). She offers Extract Credit do it. It will help. I got a C because I slacked off a lot this quarter. You'll we need to put in work to get a good grade, I didn't and got a C.
Dr. Cross gives you every opportunity to do well in her class. There are open book worksheets that are worth a good chunk of your grade, and they aren't very hard. She does require iClickers, but again, they help buffer your grade. You also get a cheat sheet on each midterm and get to bring all 3 to the optional final. I would totally recommend.
Worksheets are heavily weighted and in my opinion, quite useless. They are worth 35 points and usually due every Monday. The worksheets do not really help me and Ive attended every single lecture but her explanations are insufficient. Professors voice is more boring than the material itself.
I thought this class was going to be fine based on the ratings here. The bulk of your grade are exams. The multiple choice is fine. The written portion, not so much. Professor Cross does make you put in effort to pass this class, that's for sure. Don't slack off and you'll be fine.
Lectures were boring due to repetitiveness but Cross did her best to make them lively with activities and plenty of examples. No curve but plenty of extra credit. Only thing I did not like was that exams were gated behind office hours so if you couldn't make it to view them, you're SOL. They grade heavily on how you write answers so go see them!
This class is literally about research methods, so no matter how it's presented you will probably fall asleep in lecture. Despite this Cross tries her best to make things as clear as possible (uses clicker). Written portion of exams is extremely nit-picky; go to exam viewing hours. Grade is on a point system and extra credit amounts to 4.8%.
I kind of feel like I learned nothing, aside from how to use excel, but spent so much time on this class anyways (it's partly online). She's very nice and you have a lot of oppurtunity to boost your grade if you do the assignments. If you're bad at math, this is def the class to take. It's do-able but it's tedious.
A bit heavy with classwork, but it's manageable! The tests are fair (you have a cheatsheet)& her grading criteria is very clear. Not an "easy" A. You really need to put effort in to get an A. Office hours and exam viewings really helped me. Dr. Cross is very kind and made this topic easier to understand. She also engages everyone during lectures.
The material is boring but I would have expected for Cross to be more engaging with the students. If it wasn't for the iclicker points, so many students would not show up. It is not an easy A. The TA's grade tough. It is also not super clear what may be on the midterms (3 Midterms and optional Final). If you're able to go to office hours, just go.
Cross lectures are very boring, but you don't really need to attend lectures to get A. You have two full cheat sheet pages for each exams. Her exams are very straightforward and easy. The TA tends to misgrade the free-response, but just go to exam viewing and argue, and they will give points back. Lots of homework but they are free points.
Do the psyclearn, do the worksheets. If you finish these two tasks patiently (not just skip read), then it is an easy A.
The class content itself is boring, but it's very straightforward. Exams are very similar to weekly worksheets, and you get a cheat sheet every time. Read/complete PsycLearn + do the worksheets + show up to lectures good grade. Dr. Cross gives clear explanations and has a sense of humor. Go to office hours, they're helpful!
Professor Cross was absolutely incredible. She's very generous with grading letting you miss up to 80 participation points without penalty. She's an amazing lecturer and has true command of the subject material. Her tests are extremely fair and the main source of difficulty I had was the writing portions. I hope I can take her again!
The material itself wasn't that interesting but she definitely made it bearable. TA's are tough on grading the writing portions of the class and are looking for very specific answers. Multiple-choice exams are easy as long as you pay attention in lecture. She allows an entire sheet of paper as cheat sheets for each exam. Def recommend.
Professor Cross is great at what she does! Though I will say, I had to prioritize this class as the workload was heavier from my other classes. But, what I can say is her lectures were interesting (I looked forward to them every time), her office hours were useful (she brings her dog), and buy an Iclicker 2!
Dr. Cross is such an amazing professor. She makes research methods so interesting and fun to learn about, and she cares deeply about her students. TAKE HER YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!!!
I wouldn't Professor Cross is a bad professor by any means. On the contrary, she passionately and effectively teaches what seems to many people to be a boring subject. However, I would notice that the TAs would often badly misgrade the writing portion of the midterms (very subjective). Overall, I'd recommend but quadruple check your midterms!
Professor Cross is very nice and makes the effort to answer your questions. Lots of work in the Modules section, but it is doable. 2 Midterms and 1 Final Exam. All take home and in a 24 hour window. Similar to practice exams. As long as you finish the modules, get participation points, and do well on the worksheets and exams, you'll be fine.
It's not the most interesting stuff, but Dr. Cross does her best to make it as fun as possible. Class is focused mostly in the logic behind psychological science as well as a very introductory dive into stats. Do the Psyclearn, it's extremely necessary to be successful. A lot of material for a summer course, but doable for sure.
Dr. Cross is a great lecturer, she is very clear in her expectations and presentation of material. The class is insanely boring but she does her best to make it as interesting as possible. Can be a bit judgemental at times when answering questions, but maybe it was just over zoom. Grade is test heavy. Careful with your wording on tests.
Took her for my first quarter and she is so great! She really cares about her students and is willing to set up one on one time to help you understand concepts. The class requires you to be consistent and it is pretty work heavy.
I took this class first quarter and while the reviews make it sound easy. You have to be prepared to work, especially if you're taking it online. She disables the chat in zoom meetings so it's hard to form connections with other students. I probably should've went to office hrs so if you do need this class go- grades hard asf btw depending on TA.
You have to work hard for a good grade but it's possible. Very nice professor. Go to office hours with questions. The work is a lot and may seem overwhelming but do it ahead of time and you'll be fine. Sometimes feedback is confusing. Material can be hard but a lot of practice is provided. Grades based on a point system with optional final.
Professor Cross is an amazing lecturer. The research demos she conducts during live lectures are very engaging! Her pre-recorded lectures are full of important information so take good notes. The work can get overwhelming if you don't pace yourself. If you understand the material and how to apply the information learned, it's an easy A.
2 midterms and final is optional to replace lowest grade - not hard at all. lectures are fun and interesting. 2 psych learn modules almost every week - long but incredibly informational and helpful. extra credit. no curve but everyone does fairly well. I definitely recommend taking prof cross
Good class, relatively okay teaching. She has attitude though and not friendly.
The grading criteria was clear. Definitely not an easy class, but probably the most important undergrad course. Material gets a bit confusing after Midterm 1. My only problem was that she was ready to give me an A- over an 919.5 when 920 was an A. She is a lovely, hilarious, old lady with a British accent. Take her class, you would actually learn.
Every psych major or minor has to take this class. I wouldn't say its as interesting as other psych classes, but she definitely makes it fairly enjoyable and easy to understand. The exams were kind of confusing sometimes and were written (as opposed to MC), but if you study, it should be an easy A. Concepts are important if you wanna do research!
Stay away from this class. Expect 6 units of workload. There's big projects, weekly assignments, midterm, final, all you can think of. It's so much for an introductory course.
Engaging and caring
She's alright, I personally did not connect with her but objectively she is a good teacher and knows her stuff. I simply get super bored about this subject but she manages to teach to the best of her ability. We had to use an online textbook which was basically busy work and not helpful. Worksheets and lectures are your shots at passing the exams.
I appreciate the extra credit option, but there is a TON of work in this class. When I briefly interacted her outside of class, she was frustrated that I didnt understand "easy stats" and mocked me. Not the most empathic teacher in Psychology.
Tough class. Proffesr Cross gives good lectures but talks down to students. Be careful when asking questions.
If you are still wrongfully accused of plagiarism from assignment a few weeks prior to finals and it still has not been resolved, then this class is for you
Pointsystem but easy to get a good grade. Only need 400/500 points for HW, +10 points EC, and then exams which are exactly the same as the non-graded practice ones and HW. Psclearn does take up a lot of time, but you can just skip through it without reading and answering practice problems. I didn't watch any prerecorded lectures. Great help in OH.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR. The TA's subjectively grade worksheets and projects. Prof teaching style is narcissistic. Complicates rather than simplifies for understanding. All homework was graded subjectively. Have to retake this course during the summer, hopefully, it turns out better. (With a different professor)
This class had too many moving parts. With weekly quizzes, lecture, midterms, and papers, there was just a lot to keep track of. The TA team was great, however, and helped maintain order. Cross herself was clearly passionate and helped me actually learn Excel. The class is manageable if you're organized. More of a high effort class than needed IMO.
Cross is a passionate professor and she cares students. She dearly asks students' thought about make improvements. The course, damn there are lots of works and you really need to work to get good grade. My grade fall apart in early quarter but I managed to fix it piece by piece. TA and she are helpful but if you can find easier one go for it.
Yes, there is a lot work, but what did you expect? It is a college class and overall the homework was never difficult. LabQuizzes are easy as long as you do the TryIt videos beforehand and study. Lots of extra credit opportunity and the optional final is amazing for those who want to replace it with their lowest score on the midterms.
Class had a lot of work, but the work isn't really tough. Start the work early to stay organized, because trust me the work will come fast. She's a great lecturer, and her TAs all are very helpful. Go to both lecture and discussion sections for participation points, quizzes, and for help. ASK QUESTIONS. You're going to need to, there's much content
Really interesting, made statistics easy to understand. Tests are written but very generous on grading. You can have a cheat sheet for all the tests and then staple them all together and bring it to the final
She tests mainly on her lectures instead of the psychlearns, but the psychlearn homework does take a long time. She's pretty accessible and gives great feedback in office hours. The TAs do make mistakes on midterm grading, but if you go to office hours, she can help clarify where you lost points and help you get them back.
This is the most boring and useless class I have taken. I took the class as a pre-med rec and yes its an easy A but it is also a complete waste of time, especially if you have already taken PSC 1 and Stats. I think she spent a total of 5 min explaining to the class whether or not error bars overlap and that she treats us like 1st graders sometimes.
Amazing professor, great course set-up. Clear grading criteria and interesting material. However, you MUST do most of all of the PsychLearns if you want an A. Understanding the material is important, don't fall too far behind. Learn from the feedback on your bi-monthly exams. Prepare adequately and you will have fun. Love you Dr. Cross
Dr. Cross is fine. She is a kind instructor and knows how to teach this course in structure. But, I'm so confused about the evaluation of validity in the midterm and the grading policy of these tests. Compared to the other instructors in PSC Department, she is excellent, but I believe she can improve the way she teaches to escape this confusion.
Great at explanation. Exams are a bit tough, but alright if you go to the review sessions. Exams are weighted a lot though. Not that much extra credit. Professor cross is very passionate about what shes teaching.
Great professor and a pretty straightforward class. Exams are VERY similar to the practice exams given. Lots of resources to understand the topics. Read/do the textbook modules, go to class, and know the definitions! TAs can be picky on exams for that but overall a pretty easy class if you put in some effort. Would take another class with her.
She records lectures, and there are two exams, and a term project. Attendance is not mandatory, except for the 4 workshops. She is one of the nicest teachers I've ever met at UCDAVIS, and she really does care about her students. It's nice to see a teacher like this once in a while, as most teachers at uc davis don't really care about their students
I love prof. Cross and her accent! Her lectures were interesting, but the MT's were some work. She gave review lectures before each one and roughly gave an idea of what she was looking for. I believe it was 5 MT's, mostly short answer and cumulative, but lowest one gets dropped. Definitely study extra for each one, and class Discord was clutch.
AMAZING educator who communicates very well. TA's were great and all helped answer questions during class/ through canvas. Engaging lectures. Difficult tests but expectations were very clear, went over practice test inc class, helpful office hours / review sessions so studying for them actually helped me learn & retain the material. 10/10 recommend
I really like Dr.cross, she is kind, understanding and knowledgeable. However I wouldn't recommend taking 12y as a GE unless you really want to learn excel. Class consists of weekly excel walkthroughs, lab quizzes, two large projects and two midterms so just a lot of work. I ended the class with a high A but I took advantage of office hours
great prof. and this was an awesome class! very detailed work for each week with weekly quizzes that are easy to pass as long as you pay attention and do required work. midterms are based directly off lectures so pay attention! prof. cross is also very caring and gives lots of opportunities for extra credit, and her office hours are super helpful.
Each class has a practice exam, but she will only talk in class, and does not tell you clearly what the answer is, just talk some nonsense. And she taught most of what she said by herself on psyclearn.
Such a good class and Prof.Cross really cares about her students and how they learn. Material is pretty easy and she gives you so many ways to earn back points. Tests are pretty easy if you really focus in lectures and there are so many opportunities to check your work.
There is not any way to get answer of practice exam which means we do not have any way to know which answer gets wrong specifically. Also the presentation she posted on each lecture is not helpful and you ONLY count on yourself. No curve on anything.
The class was really fun and the grading methodology emphasized learning which was very nice.
Great lecturer with lots of information. I had 5 exams for 5 units (easy). Most of the class is homework heavy for participation points that are easy to earn. Extra credit is offered, sona credits are required, exam feedback is given, iclicker is used every lecture, no quizzes only exams.
I thought this class was pretty easy, you practically learn all the material through the textbook and Cross hammers it home, she's kind and funny.
Fantastic instructor, really cares about her students. Lectures prepare you very well for exams. 5 units exams, 1 final, one exam dropped. Practice exams very similar to real exams. Exam expectations are clear, and instructor always willing to give feedback on your exam. Reading is very helpful if you skim it. 15 points of extra credit opportunity.
Great professor to have for an overall straightforward class. 5 unit tests + a final, the lowest score gets dropped. Lectures are indicative of what will appear on tests; she'll also go over a practice exam before the actual exam which is very similar. Extra credit points are also available. Go through the PsychLearns, which are pretty simple.
I never went to the lectures for this class, you really don't need to for an A. TAs are really picky when it comes to grading exams, so it can be hard to succeed since they count for 75% of your grade. Overall it was fine.
I loved taking classes with her. I was her LA and she's a delight to work with outside class. She's so caring and considerate of her students and provides all the resources to do well. Her course helped me a lot with a research manuscript I had.
The lectures were ok but you need to buy the textbook in order to understand all of the exam questions. Wouldn't have taken this class if I known how picky the TA is. In-person exams and attendance is not mandatory, except for four workshops. Do not take this class for credits.
I have taken 14 upper division PSC courses, and this was by far the worst. The TAs are brutal graders on all of the papers, which easily plummet your grade. The tests aren't easy unless you read the textbook. I suggest staying far from this course.
Not an easy or enjoyable class
If you want to be talked to like a toddler then this class is for you. If you took psychology courses in high school (IB or AP) then you'll be asleep during this class... bummer that it's a prerequisite for literally everything. She's sweet but talks to the class like you belong in elementary school. SHE DOES Kahoot-style ICLICKER.
5 unit tests, optional final, lowest score out of 6 dropped. Tests mostly FRQ and some MCQ, grading is okay - need to keep up w class to score high. Textbook needed ($70). Love the built-in flexibility with assignments/participation. iClicker used during class for points. Prof is pretty engaged/passionate in lecture. Assignments ~3-4 hrs/wk
She's an amazing professor. The tests are easy, but sometimes the TAs would mess up the grading a lot and would not regrade unless you went to office hours which was pretty hard for me since I had a busy schedule. I also found myself really doing a lot of self studying but her lectures were also good for understanding the basics.
Very straightforward class. Powerpoint slides tell you exactly what you need to know. No homework, no discussion section. Pay attentions to slides and you will be just fine. Practice exams are just like real exams, and lowest exam will be dropped.
25% of your grade is homework (psychlearns, practice quizzes, iclicker, in-class worksheets, etc), u have many chances to 100% this category. 75% is exams (5 exams & 1 final, lowest of the 6 dropped). Don't forget required Sona credit. Content is easy esp if u alr took stats. Prof is nice, altho felt like she talked to us like we were preschoolers.
The majority of the homework that you will receive for this class is the online PsycLearn readings (textbook). Make sure that you understand everything the PsycLearn has to offer and you should do decent on the exams. There is generally one exam every other week. Usually, the exams are very similar to practice exam.
Loved her class format, allowing you to pick and choose what assignments you wanted to do for credit. Tests were multiple choice and free response and the free response is a bit tricky as the TAs have very specific points they want you to address. Her lectures are great, she actually sounds passionate in what she's teaching. Great professor.
Attend the lectures, it is probably the only way you can pass. Prof. Cross has a lot of in-class assignments. Go to office hours (w/ TAs) if you fail the first couple of exams. Take notes from the PsyLearn EA textbook. Overall, it was a good class with a great Prof. and great TAs, but attendance is very, very important.
While attendance wasn't mandatory, some of your grade depends on it; however, you have a multitude of opportunities to raise your grade. The exams were fair, try focusing on the concepts and how to apply them rather than trying to memorize definitions. Overall, Prof. Cross was amazing.
love it
She was a pretty good professor. Overall pretty easy class as long as you do all the work in the textbook and study a little bit for the exams.
I'm glad I learned the Excel skills, and it was a good course. However, I do remember her voice being very loud and hurting my ears a bit. I was salty about the grades for my final project because the requirements were nearly impossible to meet and it was graded harshly.
she tries to make it fun but can't this subject can get too dry, even though she uses baby toys to explain!!
I didn't learn much about cognitive development because 40% of the classes were writing workshops or exams, leaving only 60% for lectures. TAs are tough graders & there's more writing than expected. Exams were straightforward with some extra credit. Cross is a great lecturer, making even tedious experimental content engaging.
Exams consisted of free response and multiple choice, not the easiest but certainly doable. Mandatory SONA participation was annoying. She explains concepts pretty well, and all of the TAs were great too. Pace of lecture varies but she records them.
Professor Cross runs a well-structured class. Focusing on the textbook and practice tests helped me do well. unstuck study ai was a great study tool alongside the course materials.
Genuinely the worst professor I've ever had.
Super nice and fun professor! Take advantage of lectures where she goes over examples (also factors for participation grade). Lots of quick quizzes with unlimited attempts and shows answers after 1st try. Use PsycLearn to help prepare for unit exams which are pretty frequent (every 3 classes).
Pretty standard class. Although be aware of her tests being tricky and non-standard and you have to be study to get an A for sure.
Professor Cross was a phenomenal lecturer. Grading was centered around five midterms (that weren't too bad), an option final, and homework that had built in flexibility. I recommend taking notes on the psyclearn as they are typically more thorough and cover everything that will be tested on. Make sure to study the rubric from the practice exams.
5 midterms + optional final. lectures are horrible and not helpful. the only way I learned and studied was through psychlearn which is way more helpful. lots of practice for you to succeed. midterms exactly like practice exam. 15 points EC which helped a lot. lots of busywork just to get points. prof is very kind, caring, and positive though.
Idk about others but lectures were confusing at times like disorganized? BUT psyclearn helps! Super passionate, sweet & kind! All exams similar to each other & build off concepts so REMEMBER what you learned before! Make flashcards; ALL definitions/concepts are important to know. Many chances to make grade good; put in the work & get good grade!
Professor Cross's class was a psychological horror. She presents herself as extremely kind, with a great sense of humor, but when it came to grading, she was anything but helpful. Despite fully understanding the material and incorporating it into my work, I received no credit because my responses weren't precisely worded the way she expected.
Unlike my other professors, who are willing to collaborate when students struggle, Professor Cross showed no interest in doing so. This made me feel belittled and frustrated.
Professor Cross left me behind when I needed her help I was disregarded as a student I didn't feel included as she was giving most of her attention to straight A'a students despite my best efforts I was denyed help when asked for it saying we learned this in class. or VIEWC IT IN CANVAS... I DID but I came to you for clarifications.. GOT NONE.
I took Cross Fall Quarter 2024. Her lectures were clear & engaging & she was very helpful & accessible outside class. The lowest exam score is dropped so if you do well on the midterms you can drop the final. Attendance is taken w/ live polls, but you only need a certain number of points so you can miss some lectures. Time consuming homework though
Great system where there were 300ish points possible, and you only need 200ish to get full points on a portion of your grade, so you could pick and choose which homeworks/iClickers/worksheets to devote your time to. Exams had clear feedback and built on previous stuff (remember stuff you learned before). Some homework was time-consuming, but easy.
Amazing lecturer, amazing TA. I didn't even find the class enjoyable, it was more the environment created by the proctors of the course. Professor Cross is clearly passionate about the course, and definitely makes the content approachable for anyone. Sometimes the course-work seemed daunting, but plenty of resources are provided for aid.
good professor but a lot of work in the class for a lower level class. i did end up learning a lot about research.
really good "stats with a hug" class. LOVED how she set up the canvas, very accessible and easy to understand. also really enjoyed how she graded participation. however there are a LOT of quizzes which is kind of annoying in the moment, but probably helpful for the midterms (which are pretty easy too!)
Cross- as helpful as her T.A Jennifer Link- Whenever I'd ask this T.A. questions she would just ask me back the same thing. It was like talking to a wall. God speed to everyone who has to take this class
Dr, Cross was a decent professor and her lectures really helped. There was just a lot of homework like with the textbook that took more hours to complete. but overall the online course wasn't that bad if you have a lot of time on your hands because this class has taken so much time.
Dr.Cross is honestly very knowledgable and she wants her students to succeed. Yes, the class had so many assignments and so much reading. But as long as you input the time, you will be fine. She gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities as well.
Cross was a good lecturer, and the homework wasn't too hard because it related directly to the textbook. My only gripe is that there are no clear examples as to how to write a lab report on the exams. However, this could also be my fault for not asking how to specifically write the way the TAs would've preferred, but regardless it was frustrating.
Dr. Cross was a pretty good lecturer and made sure to make her ideas emphasized. There were 3 midterms and one final with the lowest score being dropped. I'd say the tests are reasonable and you had plenty of chances to practice those skills. This professor really wants you to get an A, HW assignments aren't bad if you manage your time correctly.
Honestly, she was a good professor; I just didn't lock in soon enough, and I messed up my grade near the end. Lots of reading and assignments, but the deadlines are very relaxed and you have a while to complete them. Good lecturer, but does require attendance, and there's a participation assignment each morning of class.
Professor Cross was amazing and really helped actually engrave everything in my mind. Way too much homework I will say though, and although it's not her fault the textbook sucks. For tests just go over flashcards and you will get an A easily, she has an optional final as well to help replace one test. Lectures were amazing and easy to understand.
Lots of homework. 92 grades in the gradebook... so much busy work. 4 in-person cumulative exams, lowest exam grade gets dropped. Class content was somewhat boring and uses ICLICKER. Able to do lab report corrections to fix exam grades to get a couple points back. Take it online if you can.
Cross is the best, for this class being quite test heavy she totally gives enough room for the student to succeed. Her lecturing style can feel a bit strange at times but she is really passionate about the material. Definitely worth choosing her for this class!
Good prof, but mandatory attendance. If you read the lecture slides a few times and put effort into doing your homework (esp. psychlearn) you will do great. Lots of flexibility with attendance and assignments bc you don't have to do all of it to get full credit. Grades extremely harsh on frq portion of exams but gives extra credit to make up for it
The textbook was an online program PsycLearn, which was dense, but Dr. Cross made it clear which topics were necessary to know. She was very accessible outside of class, highly recommend office hours with her if you have any questions. Participation grade has flexibility, lowest exam dropped, some opportunities for extra credit. Would take again
