Wonderful and very sweet woman. cares so much about every single student. I took her in the spring and now I'm taking her in the fall for World Civ. Southwest you hired the elite when you hired Mrs. Gray.
I took her four times (all different classes) and her format is the same in World Civ and American history. She gives outlines with every chapter and her tests are straightforward and relatively easy. You will write a few papers but they don't have to be anything fancy. Easy A if you keep up with the work. Take her and you won't regret it.
This teacher is very organized. It is not difficult to obtain high marks if you attend class and pay attention. I love her style of teaching--she is thorough yet to-the-point. Also, she has a pleasant personality. She gives detailed outlines for each section, & (conveniently) collects the term paper in stages. I definitely plan to take her again!
She is my favorite teacher. She takes the time to get to know her students. The only professor I know that knows the whole class by their first$last names. She is very sweet and I will continue to take her even for my electives. She is one of few good things at Southwest.
If you want to fail, take this teacher.
Victoria Jackson-Gray is a superb instructor. She is very knowledgable in the area of history as well as other subjects. She is dedicated to not only providing the info. but making sure it is understood by her students. Her tests consist of writing simple essays and multiple choice questions. She's a rare breed. I highly recommend her.
She was a very nice teacher, but it was a lot of work. You didn't have to be smart to make a good grade in the class, but you did need to do all the work and be in class. As long as you do everything, which was easy work, you will do well.
I had her for two semester in a row. Very good teacher, good personality and will help you when you need it. The work-load is intimidating the first day, but after a few weeks you realize that its easy and is nothing to worry over. I recommend her.
I think a number of these comments are bias and misleading. This lady is crazy. The work-load was completely unrealistic. Quizzes everyday, two 700 word essays per test, research paper, journal entries over 30 articles, 2 oral reports...please, I dropped her and I'm glad I took another class to remain full-time. Its easy if its the ONLY class u take
to many papers to write its not an english class
Typical college classes consist of only 3 to 4 exams and nothing else. Mrs. Gray not only gives her students 4 exams with a take home essay, but several little essay assignments to ensure that her students are fully capable of achieving an A for the semester. With that being said you can fail or get D’s on most of your exams and still manage to c
Way too much work! Its not an honors course. I dropped her immediately. She's not intimidating, but its way too much work if you have other classes. Only take her if you want to screw your GPA
Easy if you know a little bit of history. A lot of quizes and a 8 page research paper a the end of the semester.
LOADS of work. 700 word essays are mandatory for a good grade in every test, which also includes about 25-50 matching word problems. You will be taking a quiz every class, so read the notes she gives. Oral report, and 8-10 page research paper are also part of her work load. As well 5 journal entries per month. Like I said LOADS of work.
This teacher is very knowledgable and smart. But sometimes does not go over everything you will be tested on exactly. SHE GIVES A LOT OF WORK. Can NOT be lazy in her class. Struggled for a B. Some advice..Listen to her lectures Have NO distractions during her class. Do all the work and know your History!!
good and enjoyable classes
Its not a hard class like everyone is saying. I had her for History 1 and history 2, civ 1 and civ 2. To me they were easy A's. Quiz are easy she give you half the answers before the quiz. She does not grade the research paper like and english paper. The tests are easy if you study for 1 hour. If you can't pass this class drop out of college.
Ms Gray is a good teacher and she knows her material. Her workload is a lil overloaded. It would be ok if u only had one other class. The work isn't really hard its just a lot. She doesn't grade to hard. Her quizzes are ez if u study but the tests are 2 essays which are somewhat difficult if u don't know the material. You'll learn a lot from her.
too much work! do not take..take only if you have one other class.....this class alone requires alot of attention..i got a B but it caught me by surprise!
I loved her!!! She is a great teacher who is passionate about history. I learned a ton in her class. I took her for american history and world civ. Yes, she requires a lot of work, but WE ARE IN COLLEGE!!! Best teacher I have ever had.
She is really hard homework wise. She overloads you with homework. It's quite ridiculous. It's a fairly easy class if you study the identifications on the outlines she gives you. If you just read the outlines, you've received the whole lecture. You wouldn't have to go to class. I just really wouldn't take her if you're looking for an easy A.
She gives very unnecessary work. She also has all of these folders that she gives us and we have to turn them in, and buy these little blue books for essays. I do not recommed this teacher for any history class. I recommend Ross Land or John Tyler Stephenson.
Se is very knowledgeable but can't seem to dumb this down to explain things. She is dead set on what she is going to say and how she is going to teach. Her class is very frustrating.
If you are ballancing a full time job and full time enrollment, I do not recommend you take this class. The work load is fine if you're just a student or just taking a class or two and working. She is straight forward, to the point, and very concerned for the welfare of students who try.
She is very well spoken. Her lectures can be intense. Often times you are expected to regurgitate ALOT of material. Alot of what scares students on the first day of classes is all talk. However you better put some serious effort in your Exam Essays. However it is possible to make a low A without taking the class seriously. Just do what's assigned.
Very good teacher. Her class is not hard. Everyone is saying she gives too much work. People, I had more work than this in high school. Stop crying likt little babies and just do the assignments, and you will get an A. Its just jornals and essays. Easy!
She is a very detailed teacher. She gives lots of assignments (3 sets of journals in semester, papers, and all tests are essay and mulitple choice) If you follow her syllabus you should be fine. Pay attention to her lectures and take good notes along with the notes she hands out!!
Mrs. Gray made her class very easy by providing a syllabus and had frequent quizzes that she gave the answers to right before. If you want a teacher who I very intelligent, I do not recommend Mrs. Gray. She often talked about things that had nothing to do with history and a lot to do with Oprah.
GREAT teacher!! She is very helpful and a wonderful person. She can be overwhelming with work but just stay on top of studying for quizzes and tests and you will do fine!
I never thought anyone could ruin history for me, but this instructor did just that with her flitting around like a gnat on speed. She rarely takes a breath and her workload is ridiculous. Stay FAR AWAY from this one!
Very hard especially if you are taking five other courses. Speaks very fast don't slow down. Test consist of essays 750 and 500. Quiz every class period.Give you 5-6 outlines of notes per test outlines are 6-10 pages. i would not reccomend unless taking course alone.I made A's and B's in five of my courses and hers made my sixth and i received a D.
She has way too much information, folders, makes you wised you hadn't asked a question and work load is overwhelming. 27DAYS OF CLASS IN A SEMESER, OF THOSE YOU HAVE 20 quizzes, 4 tests, 2 oral reports, research paper (7-10 pages)and a FINAL!But I must say She's always dressed nicely!
shes a very nice lady, but stay far far away. the work load is insane! she gives you the most unorganized outline and she cant stay on one topic long enough for you to understand it. quizzes everyday, 2 oral reports, etc. i dropped the class. like i said, shes a very sweet lady, just avoid taking her at all cost if you can!!
Mrs. is a nice lady but she gives too much work and talks too fast. Everybody else explain the work load so all I'm going to see that I passed her class with a C but didn't learn nothing at all. I wouldn't advice anybody to take this teacher if you want to learn history.
Nice woman, but can be a difficult teacher. Prepare for a lot of writing and must take good notes. Lots of information in brief time. Teaches from outlines she provides. However, outlines are at times illegible. Her methods can be a bit irractic and confusing, but pay attention and you'll be fine.
Very nice lady. Very thorough and organized. Genuinely cares about her students and wants them to learn. Provides detailed notes in a folder for every student. Grades and returns papers promptly. Extremely knowledgeable of her subject area and very professional. Ms. Gray is an outstanding instructor.
She is a nicer person and smart, BUT she really does her class a major injustice. It's almost as if she is too smart for her own good. She gives out too much information too quickly per class period. I understand world civ is a lot of info but take your time to explain it properly! When we ask for help she treats us as if we are dumb.
HATED THIS INSTRUCTOR WITH A PASSION. STAY FAR FAR AWAY. SHE TALKS WAY TO FAST AND SHE IS NOT VERY UNDERSTANDABLE ON THE SUBJECT.
She is a very intelligent woman, but nearly all of her powerpoints are copy and pasted from wikipedia...VERBATIM Also, she gives an INSANE amount of work and does not believe in makeup work. She talks down to students during her lectures and you will have quizzes nearly every class. Be prepared have quizzes on material she hasn't finished covering.
Nice lady, extremely knowledgable about her subject. Wants you to learn but tries to cover too much info in a short time & gives a quiz at the end of nearly every class. Very Overwhelming amount of work & this class can cause a lot of stress if you don't have time and study skills. The amount of work & time frames are crazy. Read your syllabus!
i could not sit through her telling us about herself everyday for almost the whole class period 3hrs. do not take this class.she goes in every direction but the one you'll need to pass. she's confusing and her directions are never clear. she's a good talker. not teacher
Ms. Gray is an excellent teacher. She cares so much about her students. My final grade was higher than expected too.
Honest review here. Mrs. Gray seems very kind, and I would really like her if she was just some random person, instead of my professor. Even as a professor though, she is nice and not a jerk. But her class and work load is a headache, to say the least. TOO MUCH WORK. I failed every test, but luckily, I did good on all my other work so I passed :P
She's very knowledgable and has a really organized syllabus
I would not recommend her. She does not make up tests or quizzes even if for legitimate reasons, i.e. death of family member same night as 3 assignments due. I got 3 zeros. For a 3 hour class, we would get one 5 minute or less break. When I needed serious questions answered I would end up feeling stupid by her answers. Again, would not recommend.
I'm currently in her Honors World Civ 2 class and I'm making straight A's, I love it. Don't take any of her classes if you don't like history; if you do and you don't mind actual reading and critical thinking, this is a great class for you. If you're not invested in school and want to slide by, take someone else.
She's paper organized, but that's about it. Her lectures roam off onto topics that don't cover the material you're quizzed on. Seriously, in order to pass the quiz you'll need to memorize definitions, don't even listen to her distracting, unorganized rambles. You'll get a headache. Assigns material as if she's the only class you're taking. Beware.
Her class is set up for people who do not have any responsibilities accept school. She gives too much work and no time to do it. If you take her class you better be good at writing essays in class with no notes and no books just pencil and paper.
Alot of writing required but all essays take home for 3 of 5 tests. Study guide for all tests. Ms. Gray is too smart for her on good. She really knows history. Sweet and nice lady. Grade ended up alot higher than anticipated. I would definately take her again.
Alot of writing required but all essays take home for 3 of 5 tests. Study guide for all tests. She really knows history. Ms. Gray is too smart for her on good. Sweet and nice lady. Grade ended up alot higher than anticipated. I would definately take her again.
She made no sense. Didn't give clear directions for assignments. Lectures were all over the place. Tested on subjects that weren't in the lectures. Wore powersuits like it was 1973. Talked more about herself than history. History is my favorite subject, she made me hate it.
Gave syllabus with instructions and expectations on 1st day of class. SUPER organized. Extra credit for every test and quiz. Take home essays most tests. Class not hard like some are saying. Detailed notes given for every lecture. Calendar with everything due handed out. Made A and taking again in fall. Professional lady and caring teacher.
the semester i took her, i was so miserable from being overloaded. i had to drop another class because of hers.i would not take again. i took an honors history over ms. gray's for American HIST II and it was easier than her. she gives you so much work that you can't actually retain information even if this subject genuinely interests you.
one of the most incompetent teachers in Southwest I have seen. Her lack of knowledge of the subject is clear when she graded my papers. She said I had an amazing paper but gave me an F for said paper with no explanation. Keeps pausing lectures to talk about christianity. Always aced the quizzes but the assignments were pointless and long
The class is not hard but the work load is a lot. Do not procrastinate on any of the assignments or you will end up with like four due on the same day. Lots of critical thinking required. It challenged me but stressed me out as well. There is a very organized syllabus she gives out, which helped me a lot with keeping track of assignments-Tests hard
This class was not easy but I learned a lot. Ms. Gray is a sweet woman. She gives extra credit and extends deadlines. After the discussion, she gives answers to most quiz questions and lets you use notes sometimes. One essay has to be done at home for every test and one in class. She gives you all of the essay prompts. It's just a lot of work.
I loved this class. Mrs. Gray is a great teacher. She is smart and makes the class interesting. She can be tough but you'll learn some history. I have her again next semester.
She is very clear in how she teaches, and goes exactly by her syllabus. BUT expect ALOT of work to be done in this class. Quizzes almost every week, homework due weekly, long lectures (you will rarely get out of class early), a research paper must be done in addition to other papers and SPEECHES. Just a lot of work! THIS IS NOT AN EASY A CLASS!!!
Ms. Gray is very knowledgeable and passionate about her subject. Her lectures are very thorough and engaging. Your grade will depend on dedication to the material in and outside of the classroom. Do not take her class for an easy grade or if you have only a slight interest in world history.
Expect to leave her class with a well rounded knowledge of world history. Tests include two written papers from a list of given prompts in addition to word bank questions. quizzes and tests are not a quick review before class easy A, they require studying.
In this you will write a ton. She gives quizzes almost every class period. She loses students work. I do not recommend her. Do not take her.
Ms. Gray is an outstanding teacher. She is very organized and gives extra credit for every test. She goes over answers to quizzes before giving the quiz. Her class is not easy though.
You will have to work to make a good grade in her class. I got a B. Don't expect a good grade to be handed to you. There are a lot of assignments and you will need to be organized on when you do your work. Make sure to start on journals as soon as possible. She gives extra credit. Gives good lectures. If your're not afraid of a challenge, take her.
Beware. Don't expect an easy grade. She's a decent teacher, but she assigns so much work it's overwhelming sometimes. If you're taking easy classes along with her class you may be fine, but don't pair this class with general sciences and hard math classes. You can't ever miss class or you'll fail something or miss something important. Again, beware
We managed to drag slavery into ww 2 somehow. We will be talking about Hoover or Roosevelt one moment, then slavery in the modern times the next. She gives a lot of work and lectures from start to finish. Student beware.
Once you see the syllabus you would understand why. You have to study a lot of vocabulary words for the quizzes and tests, you have the whole semester to do a 7 page research paper, the test you have yo write 500 word essay at home and one in class. There are 12 quizzes and she drops the 2 lowest one. she does give extra credit.
Here's the thing, she is a very, very intelligent woman, i'll give her that credit. BUT her lectures are sooooo boring. I hated history before i did this class and after this class i still hate it, She made it so uninteresting. Then the work load was insane. AVOID THIS IF YOU CAN! If not, be prepared for ALOT of work and boring lectures.
In this class, the professor will give you a folder for each lesson plan which has lecture notes which shows up exactly the same as the powerpoint so you don't necessarily take notes, vocabulary words, and extra worksheets that fit into the lesson plan. In addition, she requires oral reports and journal writing which is a lot of work.
I would not recommend anyone taking her class. She was all over the place with her lectures and not clear on the assignments that she wanted us to do. Class is not hard, I just did not like her teaching style at all. Very boring lectures. I did a lot of memorizing vocabulary words but I can't say that I learned anything. You've been warned. Beware
I'm currently in her summer class and am learning so much. Ms. Gray is an outstanding teacher and is very clear in her directions. She is passionate about her teaching and makes history fun to learn. Everything you need to do outlined on the syllabus. She gives you all the notes too. You can tell that she cares about every student.
She seems nice, but she also seems to think that she's the only class that students have and PILES on homework.
Professor Gray is a very intelligent teacher. You can tell she knows history and other subjects as well. She has a very demanding voice that will wake you up. She gives so much work: papers, speeches, journals, and essays. IF you do them, they are easy A's but this class requires time. She does give extra credit but be ready to WORK WORK WORK.
If attendance wasn't mandatory I would never go. She gives out her outlines (which are helpful yes) but she just reads straight from them. Her tests are made up of two essays, one in class and one out and there are over 100 terms to memorize for each test. I'm an A-B student and do well in most of my classes but she is the first to give me problems
I have learned so much in this class about other cultures. Professor Gray teaches lessons about life. She provides detailed notes and a one page typed review for each class. I love the colorful PowerPoint used in class. She goes over every question on the quiz ,and you get to write one essay at home for every test. She gives lots of extra credit.
like the professor I respect her as a person, she's smart and works so hard, grades papers back faster than any professor ever known! buuuut shes going to give you a ton of homework to do outside of the class, quizzes over vocab almost daily and lots of papers! be prepared to write your eyeballs out... lecture style class gives notes 4 major tests
Has the idea that her class is the only one you have. Missed the first week due to weather problems and she never updated her days of quizzes (which you have almost every class time) and never announces updated dates but still expects us to know. Very fast talking, goes back and forth on powerpoint slides to where you are left blind
Class requires work. Lots of writing. Two essays for tests with one in advance. Gives extra credit to help improve test grades. Quizzes fairly easy since fill in blank with word bank. Reads over and also gives answers to quizzes. Some are open book. Lectures are good. Professional and nice teacher but class can be difficult, challenging, stressful.
She is passionate about what she is talking about but moves way too fast. If you have any questions about something outside of the powerpoint she often made you feel dumb and would always tell you to refer to the syllabus. Even going to her after class was scary because it seemed like everything you were saying or asking was stupid.
Ms. Gray was probably the hardest teacher I have taken so far. I had a love hate relationship with her class. Her test you have to study hard for. But she is a great teacher and passionate about her job. She gives lots of extra credit. I received an A in there but you have to work your tale off. I did learn a lot from her.
Tests consist of 750 word essay, without using notes or your book. She lectures every day & you have a quiz every day, but she does go over the quiz before you take it.
I took her in the Summer it was fast paced, however, if you are committed and stay focused you will be fine. She was very detailed with great slides for the lectures. Prof. Gray is extremely professional, empowers her students and gives great detailed instruction. I enjoyed learning History Since 1877 with Prof. Gray and encourage you to take her
I took her this summer and received an A in her class. I read horrible reviews about her and I was nervous to take her at first. Its a manageable class if you dont have a load of classes to take. The material is presented ahead of time. She rushes sometimes when it comes to explaining things, but as long as you are organized you will be fine.
Be ready for a lot of test. She will lecture your ear off but as long as you memorize your vocabulary you are set. Oh and you have to journal all the time and it absolutely sucks. And she is all over the place. She never makes anything clear
If you want to take a class that requires a lot of tests, presentation, papers then take her. Her lectures are only powerpoint based. She gives you an outline which she reads off of but she makes no sense at all. I had to drop her class. Be prepared to take a quiz almost every class. For tests u have to write home essay, class essay and do a test.
She doesnt spoon feed anyone in her class. She gives a ton of quizzes on vocabulary... her tests are common sense if you study. Overall great professor.
Horrible professor, would not reccomend her to anyone. She gives long essays and homeworks daily. This class is basically like a history class composed of English but way worst than a typical english class. I was barely passing with a D so I decided to withdrawl from the class rather than fail it. I wouldnt reccomend her even to my worst enemy
She Gives ALOT of Quizzes and Test every time you enter her class .Overall , its not really a bad class its entertaining. She DONT MISS ANY DAYS!!!So look forward to coming to class .
Counted it out and here's the breakdown. 5 tests including exam, 2 essays each. At least three 3 quizzes per test. Three journal papers, 1 research paper. Tests and quizzes aren't hard if you study the handouts, but there are too many papers. Singularly unhelpful/unfriendly outside of class, and teaches the Bible in her Early Civilization class.
If you are super busy this class is not for you. Four tests but one essay take home for every test. You take a lot of quizzes but she reviews and gives you the answers to questions first. You get a month to do the journals but still a lot of work. You get several extra credit opportunities and just might need them! Nice lady but a lot of work.
Just dont take her
She goes straight by her syllabus. Our class got behind so I felt we rushed through most of the sections. She says book is required but its not. She gives you typed outlines for each section along with vocab sheets. 1 vocab quiz/week, tests consist of 2 essays & 20 vocab. 2 oral reports- 1 being a research paper plus a final. It is ALOT of work.
I don't usually write reviews but please DO NOT TAKE HER. There are 12 quizzes (one is oral report). 4 tests (fill in the blank and 2 500-word essays: one before class, one in class). final exam, 2 presentations: one is over the 7-10 page research paper, 3 sets of journals (each set has 5 topics. each topic has 2 readings). TOO MUCH!
I think this class is unnecessarily hard for a prereq. It is full of busy work. Its just a prerequisite we do not need to have so many assignments. The journals are easy but so time consuming, they seem pointless and barely count toward final grade. Her powerpoints are so long & information overloaded. Easy class, just work for the grade you want
When i say this is the hardest class I've ever taken in my life. She is ridiculous, 5 (150) journal post and 5 journal replies (100words), 3 1-2 page papers , 2 papers that must be written before exams. 2 quizzes, and a test WEEKLY. SHE HAS AM DUE TIMES THE MORNING she wants you to turn your stuff in early. She will respond to a email though.
She gave us a syllabus of how much work we would have on the first day. I dropped the class after that. So much work outside of class & paperS. People who have a job and take other classes as well could not possibly have the time to do all the work assignments she gives. I would not recommend unless you have no other responsibilities beside school.
Lots of tests, exams, journals, writing, reading, writing, reading, and more writing. You finish one essay and you think you can breathe. But no! There's more!! If you want a life outside of class I do not recommend this teacher. I made a good grade but it was hard and exhausting!
this class is the most work ive ever had in a class and southwest isnt even my home college. the class itself is easy but the prof clearly does not understand how long her assignments take for the value she assigns them at. for instance, you have 5 journals that are worth 2p each. one journal takes me 8 hours to complete and im a fast worker.
Do not take her if you have an actual life. She gives so much work and papers to the point where youre not even learning anymore.
This teacher gives you tons of unnecessary work, with a lot of questions on each subject ! Please do not take this teacher for history ! This is not considered learning !
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BELIEVE EVERYTHING EVERYONE SAID ABOUT THIS PROFESSOR ! THIS IS ALL TRUE
This is an unacceptable amount of work for a non-mandatory general ed class. I did one unit and then decided that I'd rather drop this class and focus on doing anything else with the massive chunk of my time that it would've taken up. Multiple small papers every week, two essays per test, thirty plus fill in the blank questions, etc. Too much.
I had to withdraw from this class I just knew I was going to fail if I didn’t. Insane amount of work to the point where you feel discouraged and this was an elective. If this is the only class you’re taking then yeah I can see it being manageable. Do not take her!!
The class was not like some said. There is lots of work but you learn a lot. You get to use your notes on all tests and quizzes and get the questions in advance! You get three weeks to write your two essays per test. For the online class, just listen to her precorded lectures and read the notes she gives and you'll be okay. She does answer emails.
Got a good grade and learned some stuff I didn't in high school. Tests and quizzes are open notes and open book. Class actually kinda easy but I needed time to write the essays.
Professor Gray is an awesome teacher! Be prepared to read. I loved how Mrs. Gray knew her work. This awesome intelligent lady knows history and teaches it very well. Her class is not for the lazy.... i repeat... her class is not for the lazy! Keep up the great work Professor Gray! I am looking forward to taking your class for my 2nd history.
unorganized, difficult to navigate material; pleasant- when I could reach her
This is the worst teacher/class I have ever taken. This is unnecessary work to do for ONE CLASS. The worst I have ever seen. The instructions to even complete an assignment are horrible and unclear. It's not that it's extremely hard, the amount of work she wants you to do, like it's a required PHD program course at an IV league college.
The layout of posted material on paws was scattered about in numerous links and folders. Every week there would be 10 things due on the same day. She made us write 2 essays for every test. If you did not guess what she wanted on them she would deduct numerous points, even though her original essay question had nothing to do with her "corrections."
Her class could be challenging because it is all online.Getting to use notes on every test and quiz was awesome. You do have to budget you time and turn in assignments on the date due because if you wait until the unit is about to close you have to do a test and 2 quizzes the same day. She answers emails & text messages. Great teacher! Very caring.
Pleaseee do not register for her classes! Her assignments are impossible to find let alone complete. She has the assignments scattered across paws and the due dates are inaccurate.I never knew what I should be working on and I even reached out for clarification and she never responded. Ive never dropped a class so fast.
If you have another class, do not take Dr Gray. If you work a job, do not take Dr Gray. If you're not a history major, do not take Dr Gray. Each week, she gave 2 quizzes, 1 test, essay, journal, 1hr video lecture, 1hr "update" video, & massive PowerPoint to review. EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. I was literally sobbing before dropping the class.
DO NOT take her class if you can help it. I thought this class would be fun since it's just a normal history class, but NO. She is an intelligent lady, but this was the hardest class I've ever taken. There is too much writing for it to be humanly possible to complete all of your work on time. If you have other classes to take, forget it.
The amount of work for this class is ridiculous! If you have other courses to take it will be extremely hard to keep up with all the assignments and deadlines. This course requires a lot of writing and instructions are not always clear, plus it was complicated to navigate on PAWS. I dropped the class the second week.
The best thing was the open book and notes tests and quizzes. She gave exact questions for tests and quizzes online in power points and video recordings and explained. Great knowing what would be on the test and getting to do the essays beforehand and just upload them. Tests fell 3 wks apart and took time to get done. Discussions were easy opinion.
She had at least 3 essays due in one day! She grades based off of TurnItIn results. Her lecture is extremely heavy. She's not a bad professor at all, though. She's a good professor. I probably would take her again.
Overall tough professor, wrote a LOT of papers. A LOT. A good amount of discussion posts. If you do the work though, you'll be fine. Plenty you need to read and understand all the grading guidelines.
WAY TOO MUCH TO SUBMIT. She was also way too harsh of a grader and would ask for information in a paper that she didn't explicitly say she wanted included. As an English major, I have never received such harsh grades on my essays. The amount of homework she has due at once is overwhelming for even the most capable student. Passed but wasn't fun.
test requires 2 essays and 1-20 questions all in one . Word count 750 for the first and then 500 for the second WEEKLY, you still have to take the quiz Journal is 1-3 entries for each journal each 500 word essays on one assignment discussion board is 150 words which is a small essay and 50 word responses (30 in total totaling :6 essays weekly
I enjoyed her class. You do write a lot but it's worth it. Each unit is the same: 5 discussion questions and reply to a classmate, 2 quizzes, journals, test has 2 written essays and word blank, and small assignments. Her PowerPoints are long but all the answers are there. As long as you do her work, you'll be fine.
Professor Gray's class was extremely demanding, with constant essays and unclear assignments. While she's knowledgeable, the workload was far too heavy. I'd suggest using unstuck ai and other tools to manage the load - but avoid this class if possible.
The workload is too much. EVERY WEEK you do 5 discussion questions (150 words each), 2 quizzes, 1 test that includes two 500 word essays, 3 separate journal entries that are 500 words each. Then a bibliography & presentation. & her syllabus is THE MOST CONFUSING I've ever seen. She's all over the place w/ lectures & assignments. VERY unorganized.
So much work for a standard history class. Confusing instructions for most of her work. Too many papers. Had to write 2 essays for each test that was worth 50% of the test grade. Confusing written report and PowerPoint grade. I had other important classes to worry about relating to my major, but could barely focus on them due to this class
Honestly seems like a very good teacher, but her online curriculum has a steep workload and is very unorganized. Really, I think she's just not well adapted to online teaching and instead ported her in-person work to the PAWS system. Like bro its community college I am not buying an 80 dollar textbook.
