This teacher is amazing. She is not the easiest of teachers but if you study hard and read all of the material, it's okay. Great class if you're a visual learner. Teacher uses real life examples to explain material so it's more understandable. Overall, she is an excellent teacher.

Mrs. Leonard is the best teacher at COC in my opinion! She makes the class atmosphere very enjoyable and light, so everyone feels comfortable. Just follow the handouts and you will be fine. Complete the crosswords and study guide and you will get good grades on the tests!

Professor Leonard is the best teacher I have had. I liked her so much I took two of her classes. Her lectures are clear and understandable, she is available for questions and extra help, she provides the tools necessary to be successful in her class. Students know what is expected from them the first day, she pulls no surprises.

A sweetheart. Remembers what it's like to be a STUDENT. Funny, smart, and makes class interesting. Textbook use is minimal; following directions is the key to this class. Gives credit for attendance that could be the difference between an A and a B. This isn't a class you can put minimal effort in and get an A, but the work will be worth it.

Victoria is the most wonderful professor I have had the privilege studying under. I took a class with her 2 years ago. I have now earned a bachelors degree, and am working on a Masters, and she still remains the most engaging, helpful, interesting and kindest prof I have ever had. Take as many classes as you can. You will not regret it!

Very nice. Easy if you study her fill in notes. She talks about things in her life that happened, but they have to do with interpersonal communication. They also are sometimes good examples of a concept. Journal/essay things require a decent amount of effort. Getting an A is definately not impossible. Even quite easy if you study.

if you want the best grade possible - write your speech in advance and let her look at it on the optional attendance day where she allows students to get help. coming to class is definitely recommended and you'll probably have a load of fun anyway. she is hilarious and wants you to do well. book is only useful for the take home final.

Victoria is THE BEST. I loved taking her Fundamentals of Public Speaking class. She is extremely helpful and strives for student success. Almost impossible to fail the class. So basically show up unless she states otherwise, do your speeches (even if you hate speaking in front of crowds, it's really not that bad), and have fun!*HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*

Had to work realy hard on outlines. Make sure to come to class and follow instructions and you'll do great. I got a good grade just by getting help before speeches. Not too hard.

She's very good!! I got an A out of her honors class. If you don't pass then it's most likely your fault because everything is clear. She gives study notes and speech examples to help kind of like templates. I loved the class!!

This was a hybrid class. You have to do the online work. Professor gave a ton of chances to do well including a huge packet that gives everything you need to know and do. Just use your packet and you can do great. Fun personality and clear instruction. Highly recommend.

EXCELLENT TEACHER!she is a communications teacher so knows how to communicate to students perfectly to help them understand what it is she is explaining by giving an example of something that she has experienced or what have you. When going over test study guide she goes in detail so there is no way to get below a B on a test. Warm hearted!AMAZING

I worked really hard to do well in this class. It wasn't a totally easy class, but you do well if you just follow her instructions and look at the stuff she puts online! It's ALL there for you, and she really wants you to do well. But, it's totally up to you as to how you do. I don't really think it's an "easy A" but it is possible if you work.

Victoria is AMAZING. She is super fun, talkative and loud and makes the class interesting when she lectures. Most of the time spent in this class will be spent listening to speeches and presenting your own. There are 3 major speeches but bc our class was large we only did 2 speeches and an easy written 2 page paper.

At the end of the day, Professor Leonard is a good professor that teaches well. Her class is incredibly manageable if you go to class and do the study guides. As a person, she comes on a little strong and didn't resonate with me as a professor. That being said, she's a good choice and gives you every opportunity to get an "A."

Prof Leonard is the greatest coms professor out there. She is kind and cares immensely about her students and the world around us. This class is low-stress and you will learn life skills. We did 2 main speeches that were largely graded on content and organization rather than delivery. She gives great feedback and is very positive and encouraging.

Best professor I've ever had. We had 3 exams and quizzes were online, one paper. Easy grader, for our final exam it was NOT cumulative and we got to use our notes for 30 minutes. Also, we were allowed to have a notecard front to back of whatever we wanted. Lots of extra credit. DEFINITELY, RECOMMEND!! I took coms 100 and coms 246 in class. Got A's.

I dreaded taking this class. Victoria actually made it fun! She gives a ton of resources to use to do your speeches. Honestly, I was surprised that some people didnt use the stuff she gave us. She made it easy, and really cares about what she does. This makes me want to take another communication class. Great prof.

So I am a COMS major, so I kind of expect I will mostly like classes in the department. But THIS class was life changing. I actually do read lol, but Victoria's lectures are way better because she gives real life examples that can be funny, serious, and mind blowing. I teared up on more than one lecture. I learned so much about life and myself.

I normally hate online classes because most profs give hardly any feedback. Victoria gives you individual feedback and lots of it. She also makes comments in announcements so that you kinda see how the whole class did. Even online shes funny but makes you really think about communication. Shes great!

Really chill teacher, a couple quizzes, homework assignment, 3 exams, and one final paper. She cares about her students and her lectures are kinda important. She also gives out study guides. I dont think the book is really needed. The lecture has a lot of the terms and stuff for the test.

Victoria Leonard is a great professor! She definitely cares a lot about her students and goes out of her way to help in any way she can. She made public speaking fun and informative! I will definitely be taking more classes of hers in the future!

I would highly recommend Professor Leonard. She encourages feedback from the class and gives great feedback herself. Also she was very understanding of our circumstances with the adjustment to online learning because of COVID and made the class a great experience for everyone.

She is a overall good teacher. Had her when the pandemic happened so from the brief in class time and the online she was a really good teacher. Extremely clear what is on tests with provided study guides. Really cares about students having good speeches. Provides clear formats for speeches to be done. Make sure to submit things on time!

I took Victoria during the Coronavirus pandemic. I dont know how she did it but she did. She held this class together and helped me so much. I was really struggling. She responded to all of my emails and she cared about everyone and what we thought. She gave a lot of feedback on our assignments we wrote. Shes funny and super warm. Love her.

Amazing women! Class is fun but lecture heavy. She is older but still in touch and sweeter than any other professor I know. Definitely worth fighting for a seat in the class ONLY 2 SPEECHES! Hardest thing you do all semester is the outlines for speeches but she gives a template, examples and walks you through it. Definitely take her class.

Victoria is an amazing professor and actually was the driving force in helping me become a coms major. She is super fun and understanding. For this class the book was a free online source and you didn't really need to read as long as you did the study guides she gave you which you could turn in completed for extra credit. Would 100% take again.

I have taken multiple classes with Victoria and there is no better professor I would recommend. I transferred to her class during the Covid crisis because m previous professor did not have any online experience. Her class was super easy for me and even though I transferred halfway through the semester I had no problems in the class. Love her!

I hate public speaking, but she made this my favorite class during a really hard time in my life. I emailed her, she zoomed with me, and her Canvas rocks! There were two big speeches, and quizzes and an exam. Everything was right out of her lecture notes; like literally. One of the more caring professors at COC. TAKE HER!

Recently someone left a 1.0 rating for Victoria, and that review cant be further from the truth. Victoria Leonard is hands-down one of the greatest professors at COC. Her classes are inspirational, and she cares so much about her students. You would be blessed to take a class with Victoria, and every other 5.0 rating will confirm that.

Finished the 8 wk class today. When I registered, I didn't know it was 8 weeks. It was a lot to do, but Victoria made it way better than it could have been. She put everything on Canvas. Lecture notes, study guide, videos, sample speeches (read those!). Taught us how to do it in Zoom, even though I still got nervous. She was really nice.

OMG I LOVE HER. Victoria made me like public speaking and I went in so scared. She helped me and she has such a great Canvas. I wish other profs would set thing up like her. Easy test if you do the study guide. She broke us into groups so it wasnt so scary. Two major speeches and one intro. Just need to stay on top of deadlines. Take her!

One of my favorite professors at COC she kept us engaged with interesting lectures. The homework assignments are easy but help you learn the material at the same time so tests and quizzes immediately become much easier. It's ridiculously hard to fail the quizzes since you get two attempts. Amazing professor very understanding and empathetic.

I came into this class with mostly dread. I hate Zoom and this is the last class I wanted. I am really lucky I had Professor Leonard. She cared more than any teacher I ever had. She helped all the time, gave more online feedback than I could believe and has a great Canvas. No one wanted to leave the last day in Zoom. Take her. You wont regret it.

She provided a plethora of material to access for your success in the class, from free textbook, speech topics, and informative videos. Eight week classes are the way to go. Its intense but Victoria is the best. I think at this point Im my time at COC shes the best prof Ive had. She gives you sample outlines, an actual type in template, and you can see the grade rubric early. Quizzes and a final with a great study guide. Easy homework. Great professor. So kind and helpful.

TAKE HER!!! I took COMS 100 online with professor Leonard. Each week you have a discussion post, homework assignment, and then a five question quiz every weekend. All very easy if you just look at the information in the textbook. There are also 3 exams that around 50-60 questions each. She posts a study guide for extra credit which is VERY helpful!

I just got my grade! I had a B but my extra credit changed my grade to an A. I dont know how this other person can say what they did. Her discussion boards were open for an entire week! Quizzes took me two minutes. She gives a complete study guide. Helped me ace the tests. Take her. Shes super caring. You have to do the work, but its not hard.

I truly enjoy how she teaches her classes, I would not have it any other way. Do not be discouraged from the negative comments, she is fantastic and encouraging.

All materials needed to ace this class were placed before us graciously. If you did not succeed, it landed squarely on you. Professor is extremely accommodating and willing to send out notifications if there were areas which needed addressing. Also well organized and prepared. Highly recommend taking this course. If you read the syllabus in the beginning and follow through she is very clear about how she grades, the assignments, and the tests. She gives great feedback and there is extra credit available! If you need to take speech take Professor Leonard. I was a three time dropper who was to scared and wasnt comfortable until her. Assignments are clear. Her directions are clear. she has sample video speeches and outlines and this template thing you type into. Shes funny, friendly and cool. Take her. You wont be sorry.

She is a great professor. I felt there were a lot of assignments but she gives good lectures so that you understand everything. each week consists of a discussion, a homework assignment, and a quiz. There are three exams and a 6 page paper at the very end.

Feedback on discussions was very clear and appreciated. Textbook quizzes were not hard at all and exams were an easy pass if the study guide was completed. Overall an extremely positive experience and professor was very nice.

I cant explain how the amount of material that really enhanced my communicative style towards my daily living style. Its more then a class and prepare to go on a ride of reflective phase! She had a lot of good reviews so I decided to take her and honestly I'm so glad that i did. I hate public speaking and am terrified of it but she made it really easy to pass. Just do the work, it's not hard, just may be time consuming but just pace yourself and you'll be fine. Im actually surprised I got an A in this class.

I have taken all of my coms classes with Victoria. She is by far the greatest professor I've had and I always enjoy attending class. For online there is little homework and even though you do need the textbook you can get away with skimming the content. Tests are easy and she gives a study guide and gives extra credit if you turn it in.

Best Comms professor! She puts in a lot of time ensuring we understand the material she lectures. The tests are made up of all the lecture material. She makes public speaking so comfortable and guides you to success. Do all the reading, show up and you will be fine.

I love her commitment and that she was very open minded. She allowed our class to really bond and get to know each other so we can be more comfortable with our speeches. I did not do well in the beginning of the class due to my own irresponsibility, in this class I was able to get my grade to a B because I worked hard on my second speech.

Any hints she gives you, that means that the material will very likely be on the test. READ her lectures, you will not pass if you don't read. She responds to emails within 24 hours and is very kind.
