do not take this teacher. avoid at all costs. class notes/hw do not represent tests. you will struggle through this class, as most of the class did. take a different teacher if at all possible...even in the summer.

She is a very good teacher. She will help you anytime you ask. While we did labs, it I needed help, she would practically do it for me. She is kind of tough, but it's chemistry. She is a very good teacher.
it is so difficult to understand what she is saying.I changed my teacher.
Worst teacher I have ever had by far! She is so horrible that I can't put it into words. Her tests do not resemble anything she teaches and they are impossible to pass. The tests are huge and no one can finish in the amount of time given. If at all possible, do not take her under any circumstance. Trust me! You can't understand anything she says.
she knows alot but she can't teach. her tests are hard too
she is extremely hard to understand. avoid at all costs!!
Okay......this class sucks to begin with but she doesn't make it any easier. She posts practice problems for you to do and then she doesn't post the answers!! Her quizzes aren't that bad but her tests are soooooo hard. They are completely different from the quizzes or notes we take. She knows her stuff but she really should find a new occupation.
Really bad teacher
She is from a foreign country so she is hard to understand. She has "favorites" in her class. She is not a very fun teacher- she is just kind of dull and boring. Although, she does not take attendance! She does not believe in taking attendance so you can miss every class if you want- its your grade that counts
Dr.V was a good professor. She did take the time to help if you asked for it. Her tests did reflect the notes from class, I don't know what some of you are talking about. Yes, this class is hard, but if you actually study, you will do okay in it. She was one of the better professors that I have had.
The previous poster is DEFINITELY in the minority regarding V's teaching/testing skills. I attended every class, took copious notes, worked practice probs in text & online, viewed internet tutorials, went to SI & tutoring....but couldn't pass a test! Mat'l is not that difficult, but tests DON'T EVEN REMOTELY RESEMBLE what is covered in class!
Did a great job at presenting the difficult information involved with Organic Chemistry. Prepared me for the four year university.
really tough class and she expects alot out of her students, that said she is a great teacher and is happy to answer questions for you, however she can and will make you feel like an idiot, she explains things well for being a tough class with lots of material be prepared to study for the tests they are pretty tricky but possible
Started off liking the class, ended up loathing it. She is on a power trip. I feel like a learned a lot, but she has a very toxic personality. Her tests are VERY difficult. Everybody was afraid to ask questions due to her uncanny ability to make you feel stupid. In the end I felt like a sucker paying someone to put me through what I did.
Hard to understand. I had to focus so hard on understanding her accent I didnt learn most of what she was saying.
I was able to follow along in class and work all the practice problems, then BAM!..the test. Her tests are like taking the hardest practice problems, jumbling them together and throwing in curveballs all at the same time. TESTS do NOT represent what is covered in class. Even after the fact I couldn't find solutions in the book, notes, etc. Scary!
impatient, irrational, and indifferent. Don't recommend
Don't take the online class. It is impossible. The average grade was a D and she wouldn't curve it!
Have had Dr. V for three semesters: Gen I, Org I and Org II. I specifically look for her classes. Difficult at first to understand, tests are quite demanding, & covers alot of material quickly. That said, one of the best professors I've ever had. Extremely knowledgable, helpful and gives one a sense of accomplishment. Work hard!
The previous poster is DEFINITELY in the minority. I agree with most students? comments on this teacher: One of the ?worst teacher?, ?a very toxic personality?, ?she is extremely hard to understand. avoid at all costs!!?, and ?take a different teacher if at all possible...even in the summer.?
I've had her for three classes; she knows her stuff and wants to help you learn. Don't take OChem anywhere if you want an easy A. Her class prepared me to transfer to a tougher school - Washington Univ in St. Louis. Whiners should not take her class. Major in psych instead.
One of the worst teachers. Never take her class. The question is NOT whether you get A or B or D. The problem is that she cannot make things clear. Sometimes, she forgot what she had talked in the class and tested what she had never talked. she is NOT nice to most students as previous posters said "a very toxic personality". Leave her alone.
Tests are very difficult, covers a lot of material, as expected. If you put in 100% effort and show it, then you'll have no problem passing. She is very helpful and always willing to explain things to you as long as you put in the effort. Not an easy class but passable.
She is totally unorganized. Her homework assignments are handed out and no one ever knows when they are due and she has some weird issue with the textbook so she deviates from it and it makes the class super difficult. It's a bad scene. Nightmare of all nightmares. Take a different teacher if at all possible
Dr. V challenges her students to be organized and think clearly. If you have trouble with math, don't take the class. She has a passion for and a complete command of the subject; she is able to answer questions relating to practical application of the material. Attendance is important. I truly enjoyed taking the class.
Don't take her class, take a different teacher: 1. Hauser at St. Louis Community College (STLCC) at Meramec (teach only Org Chem I). 2. Bookstaver at St. Charles Community College. Both Prof's have very good reputations at RateMy Professors.com. 3. STLCC at Florissant Valley. Many students also went to UMSL, Baptish Univ., Fontbonne Univ.
Unfortunately not a very good class She lectures but none of it appears on test. She really doesnt care for student progress or desire to pass. it was a let down. For your own good take it somewhere else.
I'm a graduate honor roll student and never been to a community college. If you take her class, make sure you are only taking her class only. This 3 hr class will take up all your time. Watch out for the exams! Her class is just quiz and exam and nothing will make up for a low score. It's a shame only foreign students do well in her class. Bad!
A GOOD EXAMLPE OF WHAT NOT TOBE IN A COLLEGE INSTRUCTOR
If you want to learn Organic chemistry be all means don't take Dr. Waghulde
Dr Waghulde is very knowledgable teacher. She knows her stuff. I dont think she is unorganized. She is very organized. We dont go to school to have fun, we go there to learn. She is not boring, she does what she is supposed to do. If you want to have just fun do not take her class. But if you want to learn, then I highly recommend her.
Students who speak ill of Dr. Waghulde are sub-par students who care nothing for science, and just want to wake up one morning as pharmacists so they can dispense pills and drive a 7-series BMW. Dr. Waghulde is an exceptional instructor, and Meramec is lucky to have her.
If you are a friend of Dr.V and did not take her class, do not post any comments here. Please be responsible for future students. No doubt Dr.V is the worst chem teacher on the campus. Fewer students take her OrgChem classes and sometimes the Enrl # of Dr.V's is so low that the class had to be canceled. Simply check Enrl # at Banner online!
Dr.V is a very hard teacher.. She is a very nice women, and does help when asked. I took her hybrid online course. I believe there were about 30 students the 1st day.. Taking our final there were only 6 people there.. It is not an easy class. This is the only class I took this semester and I'm expecting a B or C. Also I would like all of you to kno
Dr V is an exceptional teacher Meramec college has got. She has got the concepts in Org chemistry. She is very tough in marking because she makes sure that her classes knows Chemistry after the end of the course. Only those tardy students who have the hunger for good grades but are not smart in science speak bad of her. If you are dull avoid her.
A very Bad professor as far as grading is concerned. Neither she curves nor does she give any chance to make up for low scores. RIDICULOUSLY hard grader. NEVER EVER take her class in summer!!! not a good professor for summer atleast. Would NOT recommend to anyone!!! X(
The hardest part about this class for me was her accent. VERY heavy Indian (dot not feather) accent. You'll be used to it in two weeks. Other than that, she's not overly rude or stiff-necked, she knows what she's talking about (although u may have to ask her to repeat herself often) and she makes sure you know the stuff before she moves on.
She likes to peck-peck w/ Dr patel!
I read thru the comments on here before the class and I was absolutely terrified that this would be a horrible class and I would fail. Honestly, the class was awesome. I learned a lot and found Dr. Waghulde to be extremely helpful and willing to help the students. So I'm not sure what teacher everyone else had but I liked her and did well.
She is a great teacher. Students are so used to teachers who maintain poor standard and thus get a high rating at 'rate my professor'
Took org chem summer course. Dr V knows her stuff. You get used to her accent after a while. She does lots of examples. She is strict, but good personality and helpful. Easy Quizzes. Challenging tests. You can get an A if you study the class and test examples. Didn't have a life while taking this course. It requires lots of work regardless of prof.
I love her to pieces and she is more than happy to help students individually, yet she seems to pack so much material in a short time that one becomes overwhelmed. She's extremely knowledgeable, however.
She had a problem about electron diagrams configurations that she wanted represented in a very specific way. So specific in fact, that no example was in our textbook. Instead, she sent out 1 email a few days before the test. The email was very unclear.
This was the first class I have ever dropped due to poor grades. I work hard and study harder but the teacher felt she should not have to lecture or teach at all, was rude and yelled at me whenever I asked her any questions (I was never rude to her and I did show up on time and pay attention in class), and was impossible to understand verbally.
She was hard at the beginning of the semester, but after awhile of being in her class it was a lot easier, i highly recommend getting to know her and asking questions, she is a REALLY smart professor and can help with anything relating to chemistry. Focus in class and do all of her homework and you should do well.
Dr. V was a great teacher. Although she moved quickly and occasionally was unclear, she was more than willing to answer any questions and help out. If you don't ask questions, she will assume you know the material. Overall, I'd take her class again..
This is the first class I've had to drop due to grades. I am normally an "A" student. The homework is impossible. She doesn't teach anything from the required $185 textbook. Her tests are the hardest most incomprehensible pieces of work I've ever dealt with. Never again.
Def a high recommendation. She is a very knowledgable person. Most of her students end up in pharmacy school. I have taken her since chem 105, and have developed great studying skills all the way up to 207. She is tough, but very helpful. highly recommended for students prepping to get in any health professional school.
She is very hard to understand b/c of lang. She knows her stuff but can seem mean, she should be teaching doctors not students in c. college, she will help you only if you ask but will run through things quickly, not helpful if you struggle with math. homework-hard, labs-hard, test hard, if your are really really smart take her!!!
Impatient, hard to understand, worked really hard only to have to drop halfway through. Only class Ive ever had to drop.
This is the first class that I have ever had to drop. I am typically an "A" student. I was barely able to understand her through her accent and she went through the material extremely fast. All that aside, Dr. V is very smart and knows her stuff. She is just a very difficult teacher.
Very approachable and willing to help with questions, even if they're stupid. Understands students mind set and is accommodating to schedules. Very prompt when grading, usually have stuff by the next day, or day after.
This teacher is an extremely DIFFICULT GRADER!!!! You better make sure that you a PERFECT when it comes to the tests and quizes or you WILL FAIL!!! She goes through the material so quickly as if she expects all of the students to already know what to do. Her accent is difficult to understand and she does not give any ex. credit to help offset grade
Hands down favorite chemistry teacher. She knows her stuff, and is so helpful. It is not easy and I had to work really hard but she is understanding that chm isn't something that you just look at and understand. I worked really hard in her class & ended up getting a B. Med school, PhD pursuers...def take her class. or anyone, she is great.
This instructor is very funny. She likes the word "correct." She gets people straight in a motherly way, but it's not offensive, she's not mean just out spoken - she respects common sense --- grades hard so pay attention to detail.
She grades very hard and does not lecture in her online class. Very hard for a summer hybrid class. Don't take her.
I loved her; her accent and comments are funny; she just wants people to grow up and follow directions. She is picky when it comes to grading but it will be helpful for you later in chm 2 and org chm
Dr. V is tough! She knows her stuff, other Chem teachers ask her for advice. If you need help, she will be there for you. I won't lie, I got an A but I worked my butt off! Be prepared to put lots of work into her classes.
CHOOSE ANOTHER INSTRUCTOR-PERIOD! IF NOT, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN TO LEARN AND UNDERSTAND ALL THE MATERIAL.
Not a good instructor. Does not give good good feedback. Does not give extra credit. Has no clear grading criteria (especially labs). Not therefore you, you must meet her schedule to receive help which is not helpful at all. Teaches in a manner that (seems to) want you to not succeed. Would NEVER take again! Gave her 1 only because a can't give 0!
She is TERRIBLE! Accent makes it nearly impossible to keep up with lectures. Flies through the material way too fast. Does zero reviewing before a test. Very few tests, with too much crammed into each one. Condescending and rude when you don't understand something right away. Makes her really unapproachable and unhelpful.
If you don't like chemistry, you will hate this class. She is hard to understand and the class is boring. You might as well be watching a video because she goes to fast to ask a question. She is often rude, if you get something wrong she simply says fix it. The homework is absolutely useless with learning involved. The homework is basically a test.
While Dr. V. doesn't make her class easy, She is very approachable, makes time outside of class to meet with students, and very knowledgeable about subject. She isn't mean or "nit-picky," she just wants her students to understand the subject matter without leaving anything out. If you take Dr. V., you will learn a lot, and definitely not regret it.
She makes you work for your grade. Lectures can be hard to understand, not very clear. She is very good at being available during office hours and will help if asked.
Although Dr. V. is a tough grader, she is very knowledgeable and approachable. If you want to learn Organic Chemistry, she is the teacher you want to learn from. Her class is not for the people who just want to get a passing grade without putting any effort, but for the people who actually will work hard to learn Organic Chemistry.
Very poor communication skills with her accent. Also very poor social skills, as she makes condescending comments to students. The labs are very disorganized and she does not manage the time well. If you have a question and you ask, she will publicly talk down to you. Expectations are not clear.
She is the sweetest person ever!
Her class is tough, her accent is definitely an obstacle, but that's why you sit in the front. She gets a 5 because she actually cares about her students' success and is willing to impart a lot of valuable information if you have a conversation with her.
Dr. V is very well informed with the topic of organic chemistry, but unfortunately sometimes she forgets that not everyone is as well informed as she is. She tends to speed through lectures and it isn't the best thing when a student doesn't understand the subject well not to mention her thick accent. If you want to pass orgo I don't recommend Dr. V
I took Professor Vidyullata's hybrid class and wasn't disappointed. If you have done chem105 prerequisite then you can go for it. She can sound tough grader but that is not always the case. Do the assignments and getting an 'A' wouldn't be difficult.
I took her last semester she was very hard and I definitely agree her accent made things harder. Also, when you asked for help she would expect you to know and then move on either way if you understood or didn't. I stood thought her whole class completed all assignments never missed and still didn't pass.
Caveat Emptor! Dr. V is out of place at STLCC. She could be a tenured professor anywhere- UofI, ND, Mich, Mizzou. She is exactingly clear about her expectations, and no quarter is given. There are no shortcuts, lots of work is required. This class is intended for future doctors/pharmacists. Have a passion to learn, and she will teach you.
So sweet and PERFECT teacher for first time chemistry students.
She's a difficult professor to take, but she's incredibly knowledgeable in the subject matter. If you're willing to work hard and try, you'll do okay. I took her hybrid course over the summer, so it went really fast. But I managed to get a B, don't take this class lightly. She may seem intimidating but she's really sweet and cares.
I took Dr. Waghulde's Chemistry 105 hybrid course. We only met for tests and labs every other Saturday. The online course work was not aligned with the homework. There were many things I was searching for on my own. I was having to read the entire chapter, watch all the videos provided and still search for material that was missed. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!
Can't say enough good things about Dr. V. She is incredibly knowledgeable and enjoys passing this knowledge on to her students. Very approachable at all times. She makes students work for their grade, but does so because she wants everyone to learn. A great professor to do honors projects with because of her research experience at UMich. Take her!
I was able to make a B in the Class on a self help basis, she was not approachable and didn't care for the student.I'm in the first-year medical school at a State University, was able do do well in college and specially in science courses. One Orgo class I took with her was a horrible experience. Don't take her if you want to learn. Bless you all.
Was not helpful. Test came outside of the covered material. She has foreign thick accent, which can be a very difficult to understand. If it was not for fellow classmates it was impossible to get a good grade. More than half of the class dropped out and in the end we were only left with 9 students out of 27. Horrible teacher!
Very tough grader for tests. If the problem is not done her way then it is wrong even if you got the right answer. Final exam was barely cumulative but was mainly over the last chapters that were rushed through.
Tough grader that makes you work hard. She has a thick Indian accent but becomes more understandable after the first week. Always answered my questions to the best of her ability and really cares about her subject. Many people struggled in her class who had jobs because her tests covered so much material. Offered little extra credit but it helped
Never worked so hard before! Get ready to give up weekends in order to do book problems and rewrite the notes- you won't be successful unless you do EVERY single book problem. She is helpful in office hours, but wants you to work harder than you should. My grade suffered because I didn't do the book problems until halfway through the course.
Does not curve grade or drop the lowest exam. She hands out packets for her lectures kinda hard to follow. I talked to a professor from another campus about the class and He said "She enjoys to watch her students fail."
I took Organic 2 with Dr V and the professor was very disappointing. If there is any other teacher you can take Chemistry with instead of her than by all means do so, if you want to gain any knowledge. I'm a Chemistry major and truly enjoy the subject but with her it was a total opposite. It was my worst teacher experience and I'm a senior now.
She is honest, intelligent (knows her stuff) and is willing to go the extra mile and explain things if you dont understand. Yes, her accent is very thick but if you really pay attention you will understand her. I would have her as an instructor again!
All she does is pull out worksheets and pass them around, run through them super fast and go to the next chapter. We have no extra time to learn the material as she expects us to learn it on the first try. If we ask questions, she gets rude and starts to ask why we cant listen (No matter if she taught us anything about it or not).
Skips through material she actually has on tests, expects you to know things she hasn't explained. If you want to pass, get a tutor that can explain what you have read over. Has handouts she briefly goes over, but don't bother asking questions, seems like too much of a hassle for her to explain even once. Learn on your own class. Most dropped out.
Dr V, is the worst instructor I've ever had and one of the worst Community college has. Her grading is the worst, she changes students grade over and over again. If you see 80points in your grade board today by tomorrow she will change it to 60points. She enjoys watching student fail. I'm not asking you to run, please fly when ever you see her name
If you don't want to waste your time, don't take this course.
Writing this only because she just lowered one of my grades after having already entered it. Horrible!!!! She is a garbage person. Doesn't even tell you why points are lost, when asked she said i didn't answer all the questions I went and double-checked and I absolutely did.
she is a nice person but not a good teacher. i had to teach my self everything i couldn't keep up with her. also, she is a tough grader. i was hoping she would consider the circumstances of COVID19 and would make it easier but she didn't.
She's nice at heart, but she expects you to understand everything. She has told us that being a teacher was the last thing she ever wanted to do, which explains a lot. She will at least try to help if you ask for it, but she is good at making you feel silly for asking questions.
Quite literally the worse professor I have ever had. She makes you feel like a fool for asking questions, is aggressive towards her students, skims over important concepts, and tests you on things she never mentions in class. Her "tutoring" is just her flying through notes and never taking the time to help you better understand. Take anyone else!
Asking for help is like a burden to her, when she does her one on one tutoring she does not explain well and says that we need to just do the problems in the book. I've spent hours studying, joined study group, etc. and still struggle in her class. Her grading is horrible, even when you get an answer right she will find something wrong with it.
She's a tough grader but she's not a bad teacher. Once you get into mechanisms (last third of the semester) things will pick up really fast, so prepare yourself. On tests & HWs try answering questions exactly like she does in class, not like how you would answer the textbook practice problems (cannot stress this point enough).
Went though things too quickly and didnt go over practice problems in class and assumed everyone knew what they were doing. Would fly through material and never go over it again. Made me feel stupid when I asked for help and didnt even provide much help.
I took her Orgo 2 class in Spring of 2021. It was really tough, especially because we ended up rushing through the last third of the material. She took so much time covering the HNMR/CNMR stuff that we really didn't learn much about important functional groups. I ended up with a good grade, but the stress this class gave me was insane. Good luck.
If there is one thing you should take out of this, it would be - Do not take this professor. Please. For your own sake. Take someone else or wait or something. She is very smart, but teaching is NOT for her. She assumes you know what youre doing. She rushes through the material. AND DONT EVEN BOTHER ASKING HER ANY QUESTIONS..
She isn't a bad person; she's just not the best teacher. If you study a little for the tests you could easily pass, but you'll be putting in most of the work. I understand how she comes off rude, and if you don't want to deal with that don't take the class. I would still recommend her if you like chemistry, otherwise I'd take a different teacher.
You'll pass with an A if you carefully read her lectures. It's not clear to me why students are so critical of her.
I'm 43 and have a bachelor's degree and this is hands down the worst professor I've ever had. The woman does understand the material, but has no business teaching it to others. No patience whatsoever. Not helpful. Combative when you ask any questions. Will make you feel stupid for even asking. Expects you to know everything. Abusive. Worthless. Run
I would not recommend this professor to any first time chemistry takers. I took this as an online class and it was beyond difficult . Your grade is based off homework, test/exams and labs. No extra credit no small assignments , nothing, exams are proctored which sucks. Overall this class and professor stressed me out so much I passed by a hair!
