This professor was very good. He was well organized, clear, and very helpful.
The class is kind of tough but he gives tons of examples and he is very helpful.
great people skills

Can't say enough about him...he's awesome :)
no formula sheets...doesn't understand your questions...but u still can manage a A out of the class
The best prof I have ever had, Vijay is definitely the man!
Best business prof. I've ever had. Class isn't a breeze, but he is so smart that he makes sure you absorb tons of info.
He is very intelligent and helpful. I hate Finance, am only taking it because it is required, but he makes it all right.
Great Prof. Good examples. Helpful lectures. Don't even need a book if you take good notes- and still get an A.
Lots of examples, makes an effort to make sure everyone understands the material. Tells you what to expect on his tests. One of the best profs at GVSU.
VJ is the man. He will make sure everyone has the notes and understands everything that is needed. Exams can be tricky, but overall one of the best Profs that I have had here at GVSU.
Extremely knowledgable however, there is a disconnect between quizzes and time in that new material presented is tested on in two days leaving little time to study if you have a hectic schedule! Keep up and you will be fine.Tough marker on final paper.
The best teacher I've had at GVSU, he makes it so easy it is impossible to get worse than a B.
legend...I repeat...LEGEND
Puts you on the spot when he gets bored....OK class nothing overly hard...
Tests in depth on material he only brushed over. Does not teach from book so you can't study what you don't know. Does not give enough time for tests. He does know his stuff.
VJ is a great prof. He really knows what he's talking about. You dont need to buy the book, but the exams are tough and very in depth...take really good notes and pay attention and you'll do fine.
Definitely one of GVSU best! He is extremely helpful and clear. He tells you what he expects and gives numerous examples. reviews often. calls on people quite often, be sure to be ready.
This is my second course with him and he is just awesome! He is very clear on his demands. He cuts out the BS but expects you to know every detail of the material he presents. He is the best finance prof. If you cannot get him get Sundaram, avoid Edwards!
Vijay is my favorite professor I have had in three years at GVSU. He makes difficult material relatively easy to grasp. His examples are clear, so if you take good notes, you will be more than prepared for exams. Not only is he a great prof, but he's an awesome person too. I highly recommend. :-)
Best professor I've had! He really knows what he's talking about and does a great job helping you understand it too. You don't need to buy the book, he teaches the stuff that people are actually using now, not out of date stuff. Go to class and practice the problems, and it'll be easy.
HE IS THE BEST.TAKE HIM WITHOUT THINKING TWICE.HE IS MONEY, SO CLEAR.HE IS A MOVING ENCYCLOPEDIA, HAVENT TOUCHED THE TEXT BOOK ONCE SOO FAR AND EVERYTHING COMES OUT FROM HIS HEAD.WALKS IN EMPTY HANDED AND TEACHED THE CLASS AS IF HE HAS BEEN TEACHING FINANCE FOR CENTURIES.HE IS THE BEST YOU COULD GET
One of the best!
Vijay is the man. He's not the easiest teacher but you will learn the material. He's always willing to help you out if you have a question and is very approachable. Hands down the best faculty member in the Finance department, and quite possible the entire Business college.
I agree with all of this. He is by far an EXCELLENT professor. He needs to be recognized because he made the class worth it. I feel like i learned a lot. Take good notes, go to class-and listen, and study problems we've gone over, and you'll be FINE. GOOD JOB, VIJAY:)
Great teacher! I recommend.
Excellent professor! He gets to work right away. Packed more class information in fifty minutes than most professors can include in a three-hour block class. Always helpful when a question arises in class and presents a clear concise and definition about what will be on the quizzes and exams.
This class was ridiculous. There was way to much information taught in a short period of time(summer). Did not give good examples, the examples where way different than the test. Do not talk this guy in the summer...horrible
He's the man, enough said.
Great Prof. The best at EXPLAINING things I've ever had. Highly recommended
First time I've every given a prof a 5 for clarity; but Vijay has earned it! He's great with detailed whiteboard notes, and also first time I recommend NOT buying the book. You will not crack it once, nope, not ever. SAVE YOUR $$$. Wish all profs were like VIJAY!!!
Great prof. People who complain about him should shut up. Challenging class, but he is very helpful and makes every topic very clear.
Another professor in the finance department that is excellent in his way of teaching very clear and also very receptive to students questions and comments. suggest highly like all finance profs
Great professor! If you can take notes and pay attention, you won't need the book. He explains everything very well and will let you know exactly what type of problems will be on your exams. Highly recommended!
One of the best profs I have ever had! Great guy in and out of class. One of the university's finest assets.
Class is challenging but Vijay is a great guy. Always willing to help. Dont buy the book.
This guy is the greatest finance prof. at GVSU. Class is tough but take notes and you will be fine. Tests are exactly as he states, no surprises. Do not buy the book.
He is a good prof., but classes can get a bit boring. Never once did we reference the book. All tests are based on the notes that he gives in class. As long as you keep up with the notes, understand the problems, and study a few hours for the tests, you should be fine in this class. There are no formula sheets allowed for the tests.
Best Finance prof. out there
Vijay is the greatest! He really does an excellent job of explaining the material. Do not buy the book. Class is tough but Vijay will help any way that he can. Make sure you come prepared to take notes. All of the test material is straight from the lecture notes. Take the class.
Tough class. Be prepared to work. You have to memorize all the formulas for the tests. Great prof though, would take him again.
Vijay is the Best Finance Professor available. Test and Exams are difficult but not impossible. Explains the material efficiently and organized. Can't say enough, take Vijay if at all possible...you won't regret it.
If you try to question him he seems to get very confused, like he can't respond to something outside of his examples. Lots of repetition and somewhat disorganized. Don't need the book. 5 minutes into the first class he was lecturing like it was the middle of the semester. He's ok, but not the best.
Do not buy the book, he hints at it in the beginning, but not allowed to actually come right out and say it. You don't need it at all. Very good professor, take him if you have the chance.
Probably the best business prof I've had at GVSU. He lectures without any notes, it's all right from his head to the board - it's amazing. You do not need the book - but do take good notes. He's very helpful if you're stuck - just stop by his office or shoot him an email.
Vijay is the man! Don't buy the book unless you like wasting money. Exams are straight from the baord and are straight forward. Not a hard class unless you wait until the last week to do the project. He is the BEST professor I've ever had at GV. TAKE HIM FOR ANY CLASSES YOU CAN!
He is one of the best teachers in GVSU.! Very friendly and helpfull to everyone. Why he is not my accounting teacher (they are all so borring)? The class was easy. Still did not get how he made from simple class material such a disorginized lectures.
Great professor. Clear and to the point, no bull. No textbook use. Really great professor, get him!
His lectures are incomprehensible. I can't recommend him.
Horrible. The worst ever.
Avoid this professor, you won't learn anything, and he won't help you at all. Bad attitude.
One word: Avoid.
Don't pay attention to the previous comments about Vijay. Vijay is without a doubt one of the best professors in Seidman. His lectures are clear and his assignments are fair. He teaches you to be a finance professional, not just a book learner. Utilizes the same curriculum at GVSU as UMICH. If you want to succeed in the finance field, take Vijay.
Terrible. He could be the worst professor on the entire planet.
It's this simple, Vijay is the best FIN prof. at GVSU if finance interests you, if you are taking FIN320 because it's required and just want to pass the class with as little effort as possible, avoid because he'll actually make you learn the material.
He was a great professor! If you want to learn the finance basics, take him! You have to be in class though to get the notes. The notes will help you on your practice problems, quizzes and tests. The practice problems are exactly whats on the quizzes and test, so study those hard!
Great Professor. Makes you learn the material which is great for ACC and FIN majors. Made me want to double major.
He was a great professor! If you want to learn the finance basics, take him! You have to be in class though to get the notes. The notes will help you on your practice problems, quizzes and tests. The practice problems are exactly whats on the quizzes and test, so study those hard!
Prof Vijay is amazing. I didn't think the class was as hard as some make it out to be. If you attend class (which isn't hard because they go by fast) it is really easy to understand. Vijay makes it easy and he will help you if you need it. TAKE HIM, YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!!! Oh and half the time the practice problems are used on exams!!
Vijay is an Excellent professor. Because of the way he teaches, he takes a subject that many would find difficult and makes it easy. You do practice problems all day everyday as a class, so when exam time comes you do the problems the way you have for three weeks. If I could take him for every Finance class at GV I would in a heartbeat.
Vijay was the best prof I had in my 4 years at GV. His classes are difficult, but you actually enjoy the challenge. If you put forth the effort, he won't let you fail. You WILL NOT regret taking any class taught by this great professor, I promise! Grand Valley is extremely lucky to have him.
Hands down Vijay is a great professor. He is not easy by any means but makes sure you learn the concepts of finance which is useful. You get the equations on the 1st exam but after that you need to memorize everything. No homework and one group project that you work on all semester which is nice. I would recommend taking him!
EXCELLENT professor. By far, the best prof I've had at Grand Valley. He is EXTREMELY smart/knowledgeable on the subject. The material is tough but it is taught well. No cheat-sheets on exams, all the formulas must be memorized. No required homework, but there is a group project.
Vijay was a really nice guy and u could tell he knew what he was talking about. He talks really fast however and u will have trouble keeping up. There is no formula sheets except for the first test and u will have a lot to memorize. Not a good grader either, there is no middle ground, either its exactly right or its wrong
Possibly the best prof. at GVSU
Vijay is the best professor that I have ever taken. I looked forward to attending class every week. He explains everything accurately and intelligently. He is well endowed with finance knowledge and he relays this to his students. Great Prof. Great Class. On a scale of 1-10 he honestly gets an 11. (oh and no need to buy the book)
Vijay is hands down the best Finance prof at GVSU! Mid-term is really tough, but the final is take home. If you're serious about finance, you should definitely take derivatives. Vijay is way knowledgeable and helpful, too. Great class, great prof!
There no question that Vjay knows his stuff. However, this class was very hard for me. I got the lowest grade I have ever gotten in college from this class. He's a decent professor, just make sure you stay on top of things. Don't buy the book, you will never use it.
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! Class/notes are purely example problems. Doesn't make you memorize terms, you will learn the necessary ones through examples. The repetition and this guy's intelligence make it a great way to learn. Makes practice problems for the exams, but wording can be tricky. Come to class, do the practice problems and you will do OK.
I dropped this course last semester. Maybe because it was a night class and Vijay didn't want to be there but he had an incredibly monotone voice. He lectures like crazy and then come test time want to know all the unimportant parts of the lecture and stuff like current gdp and interest rates.stuff you can look up in real world.
Boring instructor. He acts very smart. Do not buy the book.
Arrogant
Great professor, makes everything easy to understand, and if you don't he makes sure you do. No need for a book and gives you all the formulas for the first exam. Made me change my major to Finance, fun, caring teacher
One of the best profs ive ever had. Extremely knowledgeable. rarely any homework and one small group project. class is pretty much examples so you have to go, but tells you exactly whats on the exams. go to class and you'll be fine. dont buy the book.
AMAZING professor! Extremely helpful and understands when we need to spend more time on a topic. He is willing to move exam dates around to allow us to study. Book is not needed, but I used it for extra help, but he gives us exactly what we need to know. If you fail the class it would be because you tried to fail. He is the best Prof Ever!
THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER! He made me want to become a finance major. I can't even explain how great of a professor he is. If you are unclear of something, ask him and he will explain it again in a way that will be more understandable. The exams are tough, but as long as you do all the practice problems he gives you, you will pass!
One of the best professors I have had at Grand Valley. The repetition and examples done in class are extremely helpful! I would definitely take this professor again and recommend him to anyone!
Simply the BEST professor at GVSU. "There's no way around it" (inside joke). GVSU is incredibly lucky to have him! Derivatives will be your most difficult class of your college life, but if you want to go into investments, then this class is a MUST. I heard that this class also helps prepare you for parts of the CFA exam.
TAKE HIM if you took 320 with him!!! Or if you want to be a FIN major. Best teacher in the department by far. Extremely helpful. And it's a repeat for the first half if you took 320 with him, so the test was easier. Amazing, amazing guy
SUCH A GREAT PROFESSOR. He's very clear in the way he presents the material and is very helpful. I would not take this class with anyone else!!
Don't buy the book! Awesome teacher, take him if you are going to be a finance major. I took him for 320 and then for 322 because I loved him so much as a teacher. 322 was a breeze for me but anyone who didn't take him for 320 was SOL, so take him for 320 if you plan to take any more finance classes. It's entirely worth it
Best Professor I have ever had. If you have the oppertunity to take him, do...
Greatest professor I have had, in any subject. challenges you, class is difficult, he pushes you to do things you don't think you can, but you can if you work at it. Don't by book, show up to every class, don't be afraid to ask questions, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
vijay was a really nice guy, good teacher and got the class involved a lot. He really loves what he does and you can tell. He teaches by applying to real world so more interesting. Tests were very challenging, not impossible but you do need to study, pretty long tests. One project, my partner bailed and didn't turn it in so he let me slid
Amazing teaching skills. If you want to learn and understand material, do take class with this professor.
Great professor. Does examples all class, makes it worth going to class. You don't need the book unless you want extra practice for yourself on the side. He teaches at a U of M level and it's worth it. Exams aren't easy, but he'll give you everything you need to know prior.
One of the best teachers at GV of a hard subject. Vijay is a nice guy who knows the material. His teaching method is one I like. He teaches a concept, then gives 5 examples. Then does it again. You do examples all day long. Tests and quizzes follow the examples. Amazing teacher. highly reccommend
BEST PROFESSOR YOU WILL HAVE AT GVSU!! not an easy subject, final is take home....start it early. He helps you, great class learned more in the first week than in most semesters of other classes...great teacher, all on he board, all class long does everything in his head. Literally a genius take this class if serious in finance! Best class ever!!
AWESOME professor! VERY intelligent and not at all arrogant about it. Always happy to help you and a fair grader. Not easy material, but he goes over it several times, does plenty of examples, and no suprises in this class. Must study hard if you want a good grade but he's very clear on what he will put on the test. Take this class with him!
Hands down the best professor I had at GVSU. Vijay is a gifted teacher and a wonderful person. He has very high expectations for his students and will do anything he can do help you reach those. Class is challenging but well worth it. TAKE VIJAY!
Vijay is awesome!! He is so helpful and patient and never makes you feel stupid when you ask a question. Class is challenging, but if you show up everyday, pay attention and study you will get a good grade. There are six quizzes, three exams, two 1 page papers and an easy group project
Easy class. Just go to class take detailed notes, and study a bit. Book is not required.
Best Professor I have had at GVSU!
Vijay is a phenomenal professor. He really cares about the success of his students and is extremely helpful outside the classroom. He does everything on the board and does TONS of examples. The material is very challenging, its not an easy course but if you want to do well and learn something take him! Absolutely brilliant, but not arrogant at all.
Best professor I have ever had! Such a great guy. Sit up front he is great to get to know and cares about his students understanding the material. Class isn't the easiest but he will help you succeed. Take him! You will be happy you did!
Great professor!! Does not require book. Take good notes and you will do well. He does unlimited examples and goes over everything multiple times.
Not as hard as people thought, a little bit of math meaning just memorize a formula and know how to put it in your calculator. Its more concept based with numbers and formulas attached. Don't need the book. Taught by one of the best finance professors. Does tons of examples and makes sure everyone understands. Goes at a perfect pace.
Great Professor and very dedicated to helping his students learn. He really tries to make sure you are prepared for his tests which are a little hard. Study enough for them and you'll be fine. Did not use the book AT ALL so don't bother buying it.
He was a great professor, take him if you can!! As long as you come to class and take good notes you won't need the textbook. Exams aren't bad if you do the practice problems he sends out and take notes of the examples in class. He will pretty much tell you exactly what you need to know and what will be on each exam.
Good professor. Everything is written out on the board so you actually get tons of example. Not much homework. a quiz about once a week, or every three class periods. 1 group project and 3 test. Test are not easy, so study hard. Not much of review cause the whole class is a review
Vijay is great professor. He doesn't use the textbook or power points, which is helpful for this type of class. He encourages students to ask questions if something seems confusing. The course isn't easy, but its Finance, duh. But he makes it manageable. Highly recommended. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you want learn you should show up!!!
AWESOME professor, you'll never use the book but his notes are better. really makes the class interesting and has a confident understanding of the material. intimidating at first but take good notes and study for quizzes and tests; really good guy! I would take him again
VIjay is awesome. He is always willing to explain if you do not understand and always makes sure everyone understands the material before moving forward. The material is not easy but I learned more from his class than most of my other GVSU classes combined. If he taught more classes I would certainly take them.
Expect to do homework and study a number of hrs before each of the 3 tests. There are no surprises on the Tests. If you do his assignments and know them very well you will do fine on his tests. He is a top notch professor. He teaches a tougher than average class and does it by making it manageable. I have a lot of respect for him as a prof.
Vijay knows how to teach. He assumes little to know background knowledge and takes things from square 1. He simplifies complex subjects and adds complexity only after he knows the whole class has caught on and is following. Very friendly and approachable. Tests are hard but there are no surprises.
I think this class is very hard for some and just comes easier to others. Tests are long, so make sure you know material inside and out. Do all of the practice problems. If you do poorly on the first test, meet with him to work on problems so you can do better on the next one!! Don't buy the book and sit towards the front so you can see the board.
I love Prof. Gondhalekar. He is supportive, has in-depth knowledge and knows exactly how to break down complex topics into comprehensive material. I would anyday take his classes again if possible.
call me Vijay :) I love him so much! he is the heart of finance department! friendly, and always there to support and help his students! Best Professor I have had at GVSU! Go to class, study hard.. tests are not that easy, but he explains things well! TAKE HIM 100% you'll not regret it !
No book required. Attend the classes and be ready to take good notes as most of the class is doing problems on the board (very helpful). DO NOT be afraid to ask him to slow down or clarify. Overall great professor and caring person. Just know that one problem you went over in class ONCE briefly will be on the exam (only complaint). 10/10 class.
Dont buy the case book just go take pictures of it if you can. You use one case one time. exams are tough with no formula sheets and he is a super tough grader on exams, presentations, and papers. one paper and one group project and one case study. best professor at grand valley.
Wonderful man and very effective professor. Takes the time to make sure all of his students are understanding what is going on in class, and will review topics multiple times throughout the course. Would absolutely take again.
This class was very difficult. The professor is very knowledge and very good at teaching the material. This class is very hard though. Grades are made up of a take home final, quizzes, and a midterm. I really learned a lot in this class and would recommend it, but it was a tough class. I would recommend this professor and take him again.
Try to get another professor.
The class is probably the hardest class I have taken at GV so far. However, he is very good at keeping the class engaged and improving in the subject. If you come to class to learn u will b fine. if u r not a finance major & have 0 interest in this type of stuff. I highly recommend taking another professor whos easier or not take the class at all.
Vijay is probably the best Seidman prof I've had yet! I knew nothing about FIN going into it, but after taking FIN 320 with him, I'm super interested in learning more. He pretends to be a hardass on day one to scare away slackers, but is actually in incredibly sweet, smart guy. Be prepared to take lots of notes, but he'll always help you.
Vijay is a great professor! As a business minor, I would have struggled to keep up if I did not attend lecture, have a study group and take the time to do all of the practice work at home. Make sure to utilize the practice questions! His exams are based off these and not the textbook. The class was based off of 3 quizzes, 3 exams and 1 project.
He's a great professor. The ONLY complaint I had was that it seemed most FIN professors provided equations on the exams, while Vijay did not. However, he truly cares that every student understands the material. Do not buy the textbook!! Take good notes and you will be fine. For the exams, study his practice problems. Highly recommend.
This is a tough class, but Vijay makes everything clear and explains things well. No weekly homework, but there are some cases and a huge group project. If you put the time in, you will do well. Take him for your capstone! Don't buy the case book. It's $90, and you will use it once.
Vijay is the best Finance professor I have had. He is tough on his students and makes you work for your grade but it is rewarding in the end. The professor does not allow notes or formula sheets on exams but I found this made me learn more. I would highly recommend this professor to anyone.
Vijay's class is based off tough love; you're going to hate him sometimes, but at the end of the day, you're going to be happy he's your prof because he actually cares. Show up to every class, take good notes, and don't buy the book. This man is a gem, I highly recommend taking his class.
You'll think he gives very clear instructions as to what will be on the exams and then you take the exam and he asks questions in a way you don't understand because it's not the way they were presented in your practice problems. Also, he'll ask you to define terms you've MAYBE heard once in lecture. Very hard class. DO NOT if you don't love Finance
Vijay was the best professor I have ever taken a class with at GV. He teaches in a way that makes asking questions easy, which is so important in an advanced level finance class. I wish I had taken a class with him before my last semester because I would have enjoyed him as a professor in more courses.
Vijay is an amazing professor, he truly cares about his students & their understanding of the subject. He is incredibly intelligent & definitely knows his facts. He never goes off a book or PowerPoint which makes it crucial for you to attend class. His tests are open ended but don't let that scare you he fully prepares you. Highly recommend.
Great teacher, if you are not a finance major would not recommend as you need to memorize equations and others don't make you. If finance, the best teacher you can have, teaches you things outside of the textbook that is applicable.
Finance capstone classes are the absolute worst, but Vijay tries his best to make it as enjoyable as possible. Hands down my favorite professor at GV. Tough class, makes you work for your grade, but you'll thank him after. Awesome professor and an even better person.
Hands down the best professor Ive ever had at GV. He has taught me more in this one class then I have in any other. He explains everything & makes sure you truly understand. Exams are straight forward he tells you what to expect and if you put in the work you will get good results. I wish he was my professor for all my finance classes. must take!!
Best professor yet! He is a pen and paper type of teacher, so don't expect notes or lecture slides. He teaches by example, and I personally feel that is the best way to learn finance. Says he's not a good online teacher, but his pre recorded lectures are very helpful along with the weekly practice problems. Do those you'll do great on exams!
Professor Gonhalekar is one of my favorite professors I have taken at GV. All he brings to class is a whiteboard marker and does examples for the full hour 15. He posts video lectures as well for additional help, and posts practice problems and solutions before every quiz/exam. The class is tough, but well worth it. He genuinely cares.
Very knowledgeable, clearly knows his stuff though hard to keep up. Class is based solely on tests and quizzes that are very difficult. Devote your time and you will pass, but DO NOT skip a lecture, and DO NOT hesitate to ask question, he moves fast which can be intimidating though give practice problems and answers questions well.
Really great professor and really knows his stuff but if I were you, I would not skip a lecture. Exams and quizzes are almost identical to the practice problems so make sure you know your stuff too. Class is solely based off of exams, quizzes and a 5 point group project.
Professor Vijay is by far the best Professor I have had so far. You wont need the text book as all class he goes over the new concepts and does countless examples. Any question you have he will happily answer. He is very clear about what to expect on the quizzes and exams. Make sure to study as those are the only grades you get for the course.
Doesnt go from book, strictly from his notes, tells you what goes on every quiz and exam so if you know the material he teaches you will exceed in this class. Very loving guy and loves to get to know his students, and wants everyone to do good in his class, and always offers extra help. Highly recommend taking him.
Class is graded on 3 exams, which are 75% of your grade. If you can't do every practice problem without your notes, you won't make it through the class. All of the FIN320 classes at GV are graded similarly, but Prof. Vijay only allows for the formula sheet to be used for the first 2 exams, while other professors allow an open book.
Can't say enough good things about him. Explained the material really well and there was no homework. If you are pretty good at math, you will do well in the class.
If youre a good student, and really want to learn the foundations of finance, take him. He is very straightforward and there are not any surprises on exams. He writes on the white board only, and you would be smart to write with paper and pencil to capture everything he says. he is hilarious and the best prof at gv. Dont take if you want it easy.
You can tell that Vijay knows a lot about finance. He tends to talk a bit fast but will take the time to make sure students understands what he's talking about. He covers a lot of materials in each class so it's really important to attend them. He is also clear about what content will be on his assessments so you can study effectively.
Vijay is a very knowledgeable professor. He makes sure that every last student understands the current topic before moving on to the next. Although I never utilized it, he seems to be very open outside of class and welcoming of emails. I wish I would've taken more of his classes before I graduated! Great guy overall and highly recommend!
Vijay is a really nice person, but I don't want anyone to make the same mistake I did by taking him as a professor. The only points given are the in class quizzes, exams, and one project worth 4% of your grade. I repeatedly went to office hours and still almost failed. Only professor who refuses to provide a formula sheet in the finance department.
I know there are a lot of good reviews, but in my personal opinion I did not like his teaching style as he tends to go very fast and expects you to know everything after one example. There is also no homework that is graded and no textbook, strictly only learning from lectures.
He teaches things that dont seem important from a real world view. Everything in the course seems so out if date. Id take somebody else.
Vijay teaches specific things. The trick is to just focus on how to do those things. Now I know he will just ask those in the remaining exams. I tried to learn really the first few weeks with this being like the last finance course for me. Just follow his board examples (he does not know how to use any technology). Youll be fine.
Vijay is by far the best professors I have had. The Finance dept lacks good professors but Vijay is great. He really wants you to understand what is happening and wants you to get something out of his class. To do well you need to go to class or you will be very lost. He is very straightforward about what is on the exams. Great and caring professor
He is okay. Tests are predictable. Boring as hell. Clueless with tech.
Dont take Vijay, His teaching style is ridiculous and he is way too fast-paced. I will pass but regret taking his class from the very beginning. Many other professors who will give you formula sheets for 320. He will make doing well in his class and all of your other ones at the same time a living nightmare.
I love Vijay! Prof Gondhalekar teaches old-fashioned, no textbook. What he writes on the board and lectures about is what is on his exams. If you're a person who misses class often there isn't really any way to get the information or make up for it. He teaches real-life finance; mortgages, credit cards, stocks, and lots of useful information.
Vijay was a great professor that has immense knowledge in finance. He wants you to succeed and I would take every one of his classes if I could. It can be a bit challenging but worth it.
This is a difficult class. However, Vijay is the best, he cares for his students. You work hard in this class and you will be fine. Vijay will take however, look is required to help.
Pay attention really well in lectures and ask questions whenever you need clarification--he will always be so willing to help. Overall great professor, really passionate and knowledgeable about his field.
GO TO EVERY LECTURE. He lectures all class every class, so take good notes as he does. He will slow down if the class needs help or someone has questions, he's very understanding and kind. 10/10 recommend, but be prepared to pay attention.
Clueless with technology, does not give out formula sheets, and does not give out good material to help study with exams. The only graded material that matters are the 3 exams and you HAVE to go to class to understand the material. However, he is a very nice professor and is always willing to help when you have questions or concerns.
Great Professor and person. Does a lot of practice problems for class. Hard concepts but he helps you learn them. He even learns everyone's names with ease and no nametags.
Cool guy but the only FIN prof. that does not give formula sheets for exams. He also gives very little extra credit on exams compared to other FIN profs. There is no blackboard use, everything is paper and lectures are done on a whiteboard. He seems to enjoy making the class more difficult than needed and takes pride in being a very difficultgrader
By Far the best professor I have had. He explained everything so well in a way in which everyone was able to understand. He applied everything to real world applications. This is not an easy class, but if you are willing to put in study work you will do well. He is very clear of what to know for exams. No Surprises!
Vijay has a great personality however, he refers to himself as a "chalk and talk" guy, so be prepared to attend every lecture and write down everything he says. No formula sheets outside of exam 1 and the final. Very knowledgable and posted review videos on BB to enforce material. Great prof. if you prefer the traditional whiteboard teaching style.
Prof. Gondhalekar is a seasoned finance expert who favors a traditional whiteboard teaching style. While lectures move quickly, he's willing to clarify concepts. Attending class is crucial, as is using resources like Unstuck ai for study prep.
The best professor I have ever had. Challenging class, but he is hands down the best. Such a nice guy and really want students to succeed.
This professor is amazing. He really cares about his students, every class is interesting and easy to follow. I never missed a class because he teaches so well you can tell he wants us to learn. Each class is full of useful information, and I always leave knowing more than when I walked in. I definitely recommend taking finance with him!
Teaches using a whiteboard. Makes up for being nice. Can't say I felt like I learnt modern finance skill sets.
I am a straight-A student and found myself stressed in this class. I dropped it and don't regret it. He did not allow any formula sheets, EVEN THOUGH EVERY OTHER FIN 320 PROF does. I hated how he would just write everything on the whiteboard and go so fast. He is very nice though and I wished he printed out the word problems.
Prof. Vijay genuinely cares about his students, his favorite saying is "You're learning Finance for the first time, please ask questions!". He teaches an incredibly hard course and he teaches it in a hard way. He does that because he isn't teaching you just to get you to pass, he actually wants you to learn Finance. Beware this is a hard class.
If you are not a finance major I don't recommend taking his course. You are only graded on quizzes and exams, and he is the only fin320 prof that doesn't allow a formula sheet for ALL exams. You have to memorize all the formulas and extra stuff as well. If you skip a class, good luck catching up.
Take him if you are a finance major, he will set you up for success. He does make the class hard, so if you are not a finance major, I would recommend another professor. He seems scary at first, but trust, he is wonderful if you actually talk and engage with him. Study the practice problems he gives you for the exam, go over them multiple times!!
TAKE HIM!! Not a finance major but i could not recommend him enough, one of the best prof i've had here. His lectures make it easy to learn the info which helps when studying. not having a formula sheet was no problem bc of the amt of examples u do in class! Also gives examples that are similar to exam questions and will make sure you get the hint.
Finance is a hard subject, but Vijay makes it very understandable. Compared to other finance profs, he is the best choice. You go over many exam-like questions, so you know what to expect. No formula sheet, but as long as you study hard and take very good notes, you should get an A. Great teacher. 1000% recommend coming from a non-finance major.
Don't take him if you're a Finance major. Class is hard for wrong reasons. You will waste time memorizing formulas. He is clearly uncomfortable with any tech including Excel.
This is a very hard class. Vijay is the only finance prof who does not give a formula sheet or cheat sheet for the exams, so if you can't memorize a lot of formulas, do not take his class. There are only 8 grades throughout the semester, and they are all quizzes and exams. Very fast paced. He's a nice person, but I wouldn't take him again.
Would not recommend, he def knows what he is teaching but he is an incredibly hard grader. He loves letting the class know he is the ONLY prof that does not allow a formula sheet. If you get stuck with him good luck.
Very hard grader! If you're good at memorization, you should be fine. I'm not, so the class felt much harder than it needed to be. The pace is very fast. He's a nice guy overall, but if you don't learn well from someone lecturing and writing on a whiteboard, you may want to look for a different professor.
This class is difficult, but Vijay explains it very well. He goes at the pace the class needs, and if you show up and study for exams you will be fine. 1 midterm, 1 take home final project, a few quizzes. Most of the work is showing up to class and taking good notes.
