LAB. Medium difficulty class. Teacher was punctual and professional and nice. Quizzes every week, attendance a must.

She was a very good teacher and was extremly helpful when you had questions.

Very knowledgeable.. Powerpoints are directly off the text book so if you read the book, no point in going to lecture. Tests are hard, not sure if the questions were more confusing or the answers.. But she gives alot of busy work assignments, so the points add up, making it easier to get a better grade.

She makes it possible to get a good grade and is always prepared and a great teacher. Her essays are very basic and not overly graded. She just asks that you make an effort to do the assignments. If you go to class, take the tests and do the assignments she is very fair. I would take her for all my biology classes if I could.

She's very clear with expectations and required work. If anything, she overestimated the amount of out-of-class studying is required. Papers are not overly graded so not hard to get 100% credit as long as you write it well. Tests are tough. Not enough to just know the material, need to know the concepts and how they work.

Had her for lab. Very good teacher wish I had taken her for lecture. Very fair on grading. Easy to talk to and very helpful with questions.

She is a very wonderful person! so nice. Lots of material quick, but study the study guides and online quizzes !! you will do fine just STUDY. a lot of ppl don't and wonder why they flunk. I would take her again.

This is the first science class I have actually enjoyed and done well on, Mrs. V made biology easy and understandable. I am not saying that she is an easy professor but if you do her homework it'll makes up for the test grades. Her tests are similar to her quizzes and her reviews are very forward, as long as you STUDY BOTH you'll do fine.

Prof V is awesome. I had her for 1406 and 1407 and made A's in both. It's not an easy class by any means. There is a lot of material and memorization but she gives as much as she can to help you succeed. HIGHLY recommend her!

Professor V is awesome! She goes over the material and gives good examples. She will answer any and all of your questions, and is available during her office hours or after class. You must study for the tests but they are pretty straight forward. Study her power points and your quizzes. I did not use my book, except for one assignment.

Professor V is awesome! I was TERRIFIED of bio but the way she explained everything in her lectures made the material very easy to understand. She gives many online quizzes and then uses the same questions on her tests. The material can feel overwhelming but as long as you go to class and pay attention you'll get an A. She's so sweet! I recommend!!

LOVE HER. TAKE HER. she explains everything, is super sweet, and has lots of extra credit opportunities. puts questions from in-class and online quizzes straight on test. mentions everything that will be on tests during lecture. highly recommended and would take again.

I love Prof. V!! She has been an amazing teacher and tried her best to make biology fun. Her lectures are long, so be prepared to take notes, but if you pay attention and do the work you will pass! She's always available for one on one tutoring and is very passionate about biology. Would take her again!!

Professor V is very clear on what is on the tests; (study guides). She let me turn something in late - medical reason - would have gotten an A if hadn't missed. Gave a powerpoint in the syllabus that she physically goes over each lecture, so attendance is not NECESSARY, but you get extra credit if 3 missed classes. Would def take again.

Great professor. Only gives assignments that are helpful to prepare for tests. Mixture of online and in-class quizzes; all easy. Total of 5 exams; not hard but you need to study for a good grade. She takes attendance so show up!

She's very sweet and helpful, I missed a few labs and I got an A. Labs are a little difficult but that's nothing new for a college class. I think she offered a little extra credit

Prof. V is an AWESOME Biology Professor. I'm a foreign student, and despite my deficiency of english, she was very kind and patient. Biology was always hard for me (I have a Law degree),but Prof. V works hard to make sure you understand everything. I've never met a teacher so polite and professional.I highly recommend her!

Lecture - A lot of content, may just be easier to use the powerpoint as a reference but take your notes out of the book like I did. Quizzes in class and online. Test questions analytical. Lab - Easy lab Prof. V is very fun and jokes alot. Not an easy class, lab was fun and straight forward. Great professor, would recommend, not for slackers

Professor V is an excellent instructor and she is hands on with helping you with lab experiments if you have any questions. The only way you fail her class is if you don't put forth any effort.

She's kind, very knowledgeable and helpful at helping students succeed, including getting that A. She assigns just enough homework to keep you engaged with the text, the heart of this class. She's adaptable to the tone of the class. Her lectures could be less about the powerpoint slides, but she touched on everything we needed to.

She's a great teacher. I took her in the summer and would suggest taking her in the regular semester because taking a science class in 5 weeks is overkill.

I took Biology 1406 accelerated class summer of 2016 under Prof. V, she is an awesome professor! She genuinely cares about her students, very helpful, easy to approach. Lots of materials covered in just 5 weeks. Be ready to read and spend a lot of time if you're taking summer class. Not easy but if you work hard you'll get an A.

On a personal level, I loved her. BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER. IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TAKE ADELE OR MILLER!!! She is okay, but she has a different way of teaching. Only 11 out of 25 kids are passing, only 5 are making over a B. If you must take her, read A LOT, go to office hours, and take advantage of bio tutoring! If you skip, you will fail.

Drops the lowest quiz grade, quiz average replaces lowest exam, 10 points added to total lecture grade for perfect attendance (can miss up to twice). She is a funny professor that cares for her students and will help get the best grade they can. She is very understanding when it comes to needing help and she gives curves on exams that can be tricky

She's a great professor! There is a lot of reading to be done but she does a great job of explaining everything. She's pretty straight-forward about how she grades and even offers extra credit during test and quizzes. She drops the lowest test grade for a quiz grade if it's better. She's over a great professor.

Great professor!!She truly cares that you perform well in her class!! Excellent communication with students. She is also open to suggestions and always tries to find a way to make things work, specially when lab practicals and lecure exams overlap. For an A grade, make sure you pay attention to her lecures, read the book and study her PowerPoints.

Really like her. Wish I would have been able to have lab before lecture. She was always able to explain things better for me.

She is amazing. She is so clear in lectures; Some people thinks she gets off topic but I disagree. Her power points are amazing. For the final exam I literally just read those and made a low A, giving me an A in the class overall. 1 percent extra credit for missing less than three classes. Don't really have to read the book. Office hours are great.

I recommend printing power points and taking notes on those as she lectures. If she did not cover it in class, chances are it won't be on a test. Show up to lab, because you will have quizzes the next class day over what you learned in lab, this info is not on a power point, you have to attend to know it. Practicals are easy if you attend.

I've heard a lot of horror stories from people who previously failed Biology because of bad professors. This professor is NOT one of those. She is great. She goes into such great detail in all of her lectures and really wants to make sure everyone understands everything. Don't be afraid to ask questions! She really cares about her students!

Professor Velamakanni is the best professor I've had at Collin by far. She goes into so much detail in her lectures, and explains everything thoroughly. I always felt adequately prepared for the tests and quizzes. She gives multiple extra credit opportunities, which really helps. I definitely recommend taking her for Bio 1406!

Professor V was a great teacher for Bio 1406, she is very detailed in her lecture and makes the information easy to learn. She is big on quizzes in class and online, to make sure you are understanding the material. She drops the lowest quiz grade at the end.

Prof V is the sweetest! You put the work in and actually study, and you'll be able to pass this class with an A. If you slack off, then complain that you're failing, well tough luck. She explains the concepts very well, and is always available for office hours to explain them further.

Prof. V is the BEST professor I ever came across in my college life. She is very passionate about what she teaches and absolutely cares about her students and their comprehension. She knows the materials are hard and will strive to have her students pass. Im heartbroken that she doesnt teach other science classes im not sure how i will cope.

Professor V. is really sweet and great at giving lectures! I had her for lab as well. She gives study guides for her exams but you can also go on easynotecards and find most of the questions she uses on tests from there. Overall, you learn a lot from her lecture and if you skip class frequently it'll start to hurt your grade. Otherwise, easy A!

Prof V has been one of my favorite professors at Collin. She really cares about the success of each and every student. She gives such great reviews for the exams that really help to prepare you for the material that is going to be covered. She is just overall an amazing professor & person.

Professor V was amazing. Bio II lab absolutely killed me, but she honestly saved my grade and my passion for the subject. She was always extremely kind, funny, and loves her students. She's genuinely a caring educator and wants the best for her students. Heavy lecture, but very informative overall. Take her!

The course it self was challenging, but she gave plenty of practice and help. The tests could be tricky but it's not too hard as long as you read the book. Overall, she's a great professor and teaches the material instead of just reading through the concepts.

Professor V makes biology fun! She is always willing to help with study time outside of class if you do the work. The exams are exactly what is taught. I would take her class again, absolutely. The only problem is, I already have.

Best bio teacher ever!!! Exams are super easy! Gives review sheets before exams just study those and its an easy A. She really cares about her students and is there to help! Posts powerpoints online. I recommend taking Prof. Beck for lab.

Professor Velamakanni was absolutely AMAZING! I would recommend her to anyone. I was nervous taking my first college level science class but she was super caring, helpful and answered all of my (many) questions in my (many) emails quickly and clearly! This is not a blow off class by any means, but if you study and do your work this is a great class

Professor Velamankanni has been pretty tough to beat. She's very strict about deadlines. Coming to class helps...a ton! She explains the material in a very friendly way and answers all questions clearly. The exams are fairly simple to do well on but as long as you pay attention, take brief notes, and look at the study guide, you will do well.

SUCH A GREAT TEACHER, even though the class was only 50 mins she would make you super prepared for tests and the assignments, her lab class was just as easyyy take her !!!

Definitely one of the best Professors at Collin. The lectures are not mandatory for blended classes but she explains concepts so well, it helps a lot to go. Thoroughly enjoyed this class.

I'm so grateful I had Prof. V for Lecture and Lab classes. I'm back to school after 20 yrs and having her made the difference because she gives clear instructions on what to focus on for the exams, provides study guides, promptly grades our assignments + exams, is always available to answer questions by email + office hrs. What can I say about about Prof V. other than she is honestly the absolute BEST thing to happen to CC! I went in to her class very skeptical of my abilities to take a Science FOR Science Majors but she makes sure everyone succeeds, if effort is seen. She is ALWAYS willing to help outside the class and actually WANTS the students to succeed. <3

FUN, FUN, FUN! She loves to laugh and actually does the labs with you. The 2 exams come from the weekly quizzes and videos on Canvas, so dont skip. She states what is expected and clearly outlines what needs to be done to do well. Do the minimal and you MIGHT pass if you attend lectures. Put in the effort, ask questions, go to office hours...A/B.

When 99 prcnt reviews are glowing, that is more telling than anything. She is AMAZING. She will make sure you do well and is very motivated by participation. 1407 requires critical thinking and participation, it's not just "regurgitation". Study for weekly quizzes, exams come straight from them. She teaches from PPT, textbook, and discussions.

I hate biology and science and I was misled by an advisor to take a SCIENCE MAJORS version of biology so I was really suffering. But Dr. V was really great at explaining the concepts and you can tell she's passionate about it. I still had a tough time, but even I managed to get a B in her class. If you're a science major, TAKE HER CLASS.

Proffessor V, OMG WHERE DO I START? I took her Fall of 2021. She completely changed the way I look at biology. ATTEND THE LECTURES AND FO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. She is the sweetest professor ever.

Take her. If you see her on the list and her class is available just take her. You won't regret it, I think she's the best professor I've ever had and I know for sure that literally the whole class can back me up on that. just take her and you'll be good.

Please be prepared to read & study (3x). a lot of information. She has audio files. You really got to know your stuff for her test and quizzes;quizzes are fill in the blanks/free response. 50 questions on the test, 35 multiple choice,15 has to be written. Fast talker but ask questions, she loves interactions. Occasional ex cred applied to exam.

I had Professor V for both 1406 and 1407 lectures, and let me say that she is my favorite processor. For 1407, it is more student-led and you have to learn the material on your own time. However, she is easily accessible and totally understanding of any issues. She provides study guides for her tests and they are very helpful. Take her if you can!!

Although this class was difficult because biology is a hard subject, I would recommend this professor because if you do the work and read the textbook, you will be fine. There are also extra credit opportunities which are awesome. I would recommend taking this professor.

Professor V is an amazing woman and teacher. She makes biology so fun and truly cares about your success. In the honors course, you will have a quiz every week and a reading guide, but it is manageable. 3 exams and then a presentation for the final. Really takes the stress off of finals week!

Be ready to study! I know I could have gotten a better grade had I studied more. If you take her lecture and lab class, be prepared to have a quiz twice a week! She gives out extra credit randomly, so watch out for that. It is a lot of information to understand, but Professor Velamakanni will help you understand what you're confused about.

Prof V. is amazing! There is a lot of material covered in this course, but I think she did a great job in her lectures. She was always open to questions and really cared for her students. Every week: reading guide, online study module, and in class individual quiz and group quiz. There were 3 exams (optional 4th), and a group project as the final.

Prof V is the most amazing professor I've had! She has very thorough lectures, super caring and willing to help, and really connects with her students. I had her for both lecture and lab and she makes a hard topic easy to understand. Going to class matters, however she does provide lecture audios and extra youtube videos that help. Take her class!!

She is a great professor and explains content well. She is very friendly and if you try to learn the material, you should pass this class!

You can bump your grade every exam by one whole letter if you submit your study guide. No cumulative final, but lots of group assignments and individual quizzes. Very personal with her students but can come across as condescending as she sometimes laughs at "dumb questions." Study the illustrations and don't overcomplicate it and you'll be fine.

10/10 prof!! Copy down whatever she writes on the whiteboard. Her quizzes were ~10 questions each and open answer (she gives partial credit). She has study guides for tests that are very helpful and if you complete them, she gives 10 points of EC on the respective exam. *Take advantage of the Pearson study area*. Lab was easy/straight forward too!

Professor V is a thorough, caring instructor who really connects with students. While her class requires diligent studying, she provides helpful resources like study guides and online content. The quizzes can be tough, but with attendance and tools like unstuck ai, you'll be well-prepared to succeed.

One of my favorites ever! The only critique I have is the assignments. It's like a group quiz but is pretty difficult and depends of who you decide to group up with (I lucked out with my group we all were good about studying beforehand but it would suck to be in a group that didn't). She will give great EC! End lecture grade over 100% bc of that.
