Awesome professor. Very easy to pass. Always willing to help; if you do not understand something, she will take her time to explain it to you.

Very nice and good professor, she worries about all of us understanding the material. She explains very well and answer all our question. Exams are not difficult if you practice what we did in class. I really hope she can teach me the next chem class I will be taling.

She is very nice. But, she is an okay professor. If you're planning to take her class be ready to read the textbook all by yourself because she doesn't really explain but rather she reads from her power point presentation. If you're not dedicated and not very good at chemistry I wouldnt recommend taking her. However, her class is very easy.

A talented woman of science. I must say, however, her course is challenging, but I did Excellent for someone new to chemistry such as myself. If I were to give suggestions, it would have been better if we had a wider array of questions to learn from.

She comes to class to teach and not to joke around, she doesn't like talking at class at all and doesn't really like high school behavior. But she will explain everything through tons of examples and slides which is not too bad, it's really not that hard to understand her, I like her.

This professor I won't say is one of the best professor in Bmcc.She is helpful. I recommend her for anyone who wants to learn and pass. She always gives reviw before the exams, if you study well then you will do god. She is very fair to everyone. She will explain everything in class with sildes examples which is not too bad. Prof. Arriaran, is great, not only as a professor but also as a person. Very easy to talk to when you struggle with the lecture. She also takes extra time to individual explain the material during the lab sessions. In class she uses a lot of examples and makes sure everyone understand. In labs she walk around every bench to teach us. Love her class

This semester I have her in lecture and lab, and it was great; in lab there was more time for her to walk through the different groups and explain almost individually to those truly interested. I was upset to students who don't take the course seriously and just copy from others. She always ask eo if have questions. Love the class

Really great professor. She's very willing to answer questions during or after class. Her tests are pretty good; if you study you will be fine. She also adds points from the review sheet with the actual test so you have a better chance at passing. Be on time, she really dislikes it if you're late. Overall, she is understanding and nice.

As a criminal justice major i was scared taking Chemistry but Professor La Torre really helped her students learn the material. She reads off the slide but gives you point breaks and asks questions to make sure everyone gets it. For her tests she gives a review thats worth 20 points in the exam. Practice the material, participate and you'll pass.

I really like this professor. At first I was scare because English is my second language, but after talking to her, she remark that there is nothing to be afraid of and many of us have had the same issue at some point. Really nice. She answer all questions but before she makes you think. At first I didn't like her but then I realized she is wonderful. Just don't be late to her exams, she doesn't like. One classmate arrived late to all tests and she was so nice to allow her taking the test. In the final she is more strict. I got an A!!!!!! I like chemistry now!!!

I didn't know chemistry was every where, she related the topics in class with the real world. Gives lots of examples, ask lots of questions. She cares a lot for real. Learned many things about chemistry. My class was very early at 8:00 am, be on time, especially if there is a test or quiz. Give lots of examples, participation matters a lot!!!! She ask many questions to make sure we understand. I like the fact that I left each class knowing something new. I recommend her class.

I like her. She can surprise with a pop quiz after a lecture just to make sure we got it. Very fair, accessible, and caring. I highly recommend her. If you attend the class, study, participate and don't joke around you will definitely pass with a good grade.

Very nice, she lead us during the lab to successfully complete the experiments, and explains everything in detail. Participation is very important, quiz giving during the semester is all about the experimental work. A plus is that she also make a review of the lecture material even though we have another lecture professor. Take her class!!!!

Super fun. Her entire lectures are posted well after in Blackboard .PPT and she uploads the lab so you don't actually need the book. If you fail this class, either chemistry just isn't for you, or you absolutely didn't try. It isn't an 'easy A' by any stretch, but Organic Chemistry isn't supposed to be ��

Arriaran is a great professor that really cares for her students and their understanding of the material, very few science professors care as much as she does. I just wish she'd reply to emails given this was an online course. As long as you read the text book or the powerpoints this class should be a breeze. Very clear and straight forward exams.

Trust me shes the goat, dont need stress yourself just put in some effort and you'll get yourself an A, theres labs homeworks and 3 tests as well as an exam, just study and ace the class.

I love her, if you are taking chemistry look for her. We change to online classes on March, she made sure everyone was on board after this abrupt change. She holds live classes, and records them, for a late review. She cares a lot of each of their students, her classes are amazing, she won't let you to give up. Take her, she is great!

If you are looking for a caring chem prof. take Prof. Arriaran. She treats you with respect, and she is always making sure everyone in class (online) understand the material. The blackboard course is very organized, and the course outline is very clear. I love this organization. If you can take her classes do it, she is great and very helpful.

I took class, we use a Labster, a very interesting and engaging virtual lab tool. Prof. Arriaran was awesome guiding us through this tool, and always make sure we don't get stuck with this new (for me) virtual lab experience. Take her class, and you will not regret. It is difficult to find science professors like her that really care about students

I took Professor La Torre during Spring 2021 for both CHE 108 and 109, and while chemistry is difficult for me, she made it a little easier to understand. My favorite part about the entire class was using Labster for our labs. She posts a reminder every week on what's due and has clear grading criteria. I do recommend taking her.

Great Professor, very caring. Always answer my question by email and in person. CHE 201 is not easy by she give plenty of examples in class to understand lectures. Even though lectures are heavy because class meets in One day for 7 hours but easy to flow. Her Exams are clear and easy to follow as well. Hope she teaches part II of this class

Very good Professor, she is fair grading and also with tests. Ask you about the material covered in class, give opportunities to boost grade. I would take her again if she would teach the next CHE 202. We are almost at then en of the semester and I am happy I took this class with her. Prof. Arriaran is a very caring professor. This CHE 201 is not an easy one but the prof. answered all my questions even out of her office hours. It would have been great to have her as Professor for my CHE 202 class. Exams are easy if you study, she always encourage participation. The lab was also excellent, I learned a lot with this professor.

Taking CHE 201 hybrid. Prof. Arriaran is very nice, always willing to help. Lecture is asynchronous, difficult for me, but she has plenty office hours that I am using to my best. Helps a lot. First exam not great, but now I am satisfied with my grade scores. Prof. is strict but very human, you can always ask her questions w/o feeling intimidated.

I like prof. Vilma. I took CHE 201 (hybrid), the course is not easy, but prof. make the class interesting. Lecture was asynchronous, I would have preferred in-person lecture, lab was in-person. If it is your first time taking a chemistry class this is the right person. She explains everything in detail, she is too smart and knows a lot about chemistry, she explains to you as if you were first class, it's hard not to understand her. You must read a lot and study for her quizzes and exams, but everything is in the readings and the book.

Prof. Vilma is very good teaching chemistry. I never took chem before, but her lessons were very easy to follow and learn. Homework for every chapter are in blackboard, with multiple attempts so it is helpful to practice and boost grade. Exams are fair, always do review before if asked, grading is also clear. The professor is good overall, but she does not allow to retake any assignments, so if you miss pre lab or homework you will not be allowed to do it, even if you good student.

She makes the class so easy to understand. Homeworks for lecture and lab are easy, and you have a week to do it, plus you have many attempts to get a good grade. Exams, are challenging but we can use our notes, so that was really a plus. Prof is strict but caring, sadly she does not teach 202. Take her class, you will enjoy chemistry!

I'm not a chem person but prof torre made class easy for me. Each chapter has a homework which helped me to study and get ready for test. Tests were similar to homework and questions in lectures, which was a plus for a student like me. Tutoring at BMCC was not great, but she values attending tutoring for credits. I remember nothing from high school chemistry, but really feel like I learned something in her class, even at the accelerated summer-course pace.
