Very Hard, do not take her. She cannot speak english. Despite all efforts, we cannot get someone else to teach the class, unfortunately for all men who have to take it.
All the bad things you've heard are true. I pity the fool that has to take her class. Talk to your advisor and try to get around her.
If you like spending day and night doing reports and listening to a lecture you can barely understand I suggest you take her.
This class is the worst class I have been in, in a while. She has trouble with the fact that a Timeline/graph has to have two axises years by something else.. She keeps saying... "it goes up" But by what scale!?!?! Dont take her.

Please do not edit my post for this is all true. I will continue to keep on posting this if you keep editing it out!!!!!!!!!!!!! She gives a whole new meaning to racial profiling. Her classes are so boring and makes me want to wash my mouth out with a shotgun.
Sure she can be pushy and stubborn. But she is still greatly dedicated and brilliant. Her historical soc is unbeatable--she puts all of the pieces together in a way that is pervasive, convincing and enlightening. She tells it like it is (and was), and this is disturbing for some people. 2 bad.

not bad i missed 5 days of school and she still passed me i did the work and there are things i have learned and took with me from this class though her english is hard to understand
She is a bit hard to understand, but everything she teaches she provides facts to back it up. She doesn't spout her opinion with no facts whatsoever. I saw no evidence that she hates white men.

She needs to stop teaching this class. i hate her so much. i attended every class and did all the assignments and she didnt like nothing i did. she failed me for stupid reasons. and you cant understand a word she says. she needs to go back where she came from!
She teaches a 100 intro class exactly the same (including notes, subject material, and videos) as her 300 level advanced class. The load is overwhelming. even the other staff have refurred to her with names that I shall not use here.

If you are one of the others in the country that don't speak English... then this is probably the class for you.
VERY DIFFICULT CLASS! she assigns TONS of reading, and you have to read it to keep up. her grading system is weird to say the least. we had one test that was a quarter of the total grade and she assigns "manditory but not graded" assignmets that you HAVE TO DO. if you miss one, you fail. if you're not interested in sociology, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
preety hard class at first but as long as you do all assignments, take notes on videos, and study for the tests you will be fine. o and all the reading hw waste of time just study the test sheet and memorize

I really liked Professor Bahl, As long as you pay attention to lecture and take good notes you will definitley pass, I earned a B from her and I would definitley not say she is **** or judgemental, she is very nice as long as you act like an adult...
This professor has provided an opportunity for us to transcend everything we have been conditioned to accept that limit our reality. Everyone says she's hard, strict, unclear. she is a very poor teacher, the class is beyond difficult. she teaches things one-sided, her feminist opinion and nothing else. this is the only class i have not done well in. i had to drop it to not fail it. very difficult to understand as well - bad accent and poor grammar
This teacher is not a teacher she does not accept open thought, her class is a dictatorship. Instructions are unclear and she is very opinioated. After talking to a friend that had her 300 level class we looked at our reading ass. notes and video ass. discovering that she was teaching the intro and 300 level classes the same exact material. Most ignorant person I have ever met! Basically told people they were stupid if they asked questions or didn't know the answers to her questions. If you have other options, DON'T TAKE HER!
unless ur a human services major who wants a challenge, DO NOT TAKE HER! i was fortunate to drop her class for spanish can't imagine what my grade would be if i woulda stuck it out. she knows her stuff but thinks everyone comes to penn college to take her class, judging from the amt of homework she gives.

Like everyone else says, her class is waaaay too hard for an intro class. She also has very feminist views, and if you show opinion...you get shot down for it. Her tests disallow your own examples...that means you have to use EXACT examples from the text...Ridiculous! Take someone else, or you are in for one hell of an intro class.
IN my opinion i think she is a great teacher. Yes her class is hard n difficult, if we dont learn the hard way, how do we realize what the real world is like. She teaches us how to think of ourselves and be an individual. The problem is we all want the EASY way out. If we kept on doing that, where in the world would we go to create our future..
She is a very intelligent prof. Her passion for the subject is commendable. I appreciate learning her arguments to better refute them. The work is time consuming. If you are lazy or have a bad attitude do not take the class. If you are willing to write and regurgitate her opinions with a smile go ahead. Be aware she has a thick accent.
Dr.Bahl was a very hard teacher but I can't say that I hated the class. She knew what she was talking about and was very knowledgable. She assigns you work to HELP you not to just give you busy work. If you respect her, she will respect you back. Just take the time to talk to her and you will appreciate her class.
Very hard to stay awake in class. Very hard to understand her. That being said, the semester grade only comes from 4 tests, so study for the tests and you will be fine.
Dr. Bahl was an ok Professor. She really knows her stuff, but it is hard to understand her sometimes because of her thick accent. She gives a lot of work for being a 100 level course, but this is required by the college. She gives out required homework but doesn't count it. I would only recommend this course to serious students.
I am an "A" student. That being said, I found it very difficult to figure out her expectations. There is very little feedback on the homework and exams. The grades are based on just 4 tests, so if you can figure out what she wants you're in. BE PREPARED TO READ,READ, READ.

DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN. She teaches things one-sided, meaning she shows us the bad in things and never the good parts. "Mandatory non-graded assignments"... figure that one out, because she gives a ton of them. Her tests aren't bad as long as you can memorize about 15 200-word essays. You do a ton of work, but only get graded for the 4 tests.

Just read everything she gives you and come up with something to say for the topic you are on. It is alot of reading, learn to skim. Try to be interested because you can learn alot. I had her for Soc111 and dreaded it. But for soc 321 it was much more enjoyable because it was not just a bunch of college freshman. If you respect her she will open up

Your assignments are not graded and the tests are imposible. She'll make you look like an idiot. Don't take her. Waste of money and her way she see's things are completely stupid..
Extremely hard to understand sometimes due to her accent. All tests are essay. She will not accept any other opinion than her own, and answers must be in the exact words of the book. Endless handouts. Makes you do pointless assignments and projects which she doesn't even read. REALLY DIFFICULT CLASS. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU CAN AVOID IT!!!!!!! :(

I'm an A student and struggled with the class. You can't understand Dr. Bahl and she yells if you ask her to repeat. The tests consist of all essays, 1000 words in an hour. There is a lot of assignments she don't even grade but if you don't do them you recieve an I in the course. DONT TAKE HER!
Dr. Bahl is a great teacher. She has a lot to teach you if you are willing to listen, her class is not a piece of cake but what she makes you do is only to teach you something, it is college, not high school. Most people have difficulty with the material but take it out on her. P.s. her accent is not that bad!

And if you try to be apart off class and speak, she will make you look stupid in front of the class, she will tell you that your wrong before you even get done speaking, STAY AWAY had 3.0 when I started her class, first class I failed in college

She is a brilliant professor but she's really hard understand and acts like we're at Harvard. I understand it's college but I felt like I was going for my doctorate degree in her class. Again she is really smart but she should ease up on the students. We don't have sociology degrees.

Absolutely HORRIBLE! Avoid at all costs. Too many handouts, articles, and homework. Tests are all writing for an hour and half. cant understand a word she says. She tells you there is no right or wrong answer and tells you that you are wrong when you answer a question (even opinion questions) DO NOT TAKE her unless you really want a challenge.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Her tests are 10 questions 60 words each. She has you do a paper every week that includes going to the library. She treats it like it is your ONLY CLASS! She has favorites, if your not one good luck. Took weeks to even understand her!

Dr. Bahl is very intelligent in the field of Sociology. She told our class she was trying to make a change in the thinking of young people today, which I can see is true. She is passionate. Class is hard, but not impossible. Got an A & this was my first semester of college and I was as a non-traditional student w/ two babies at home. NOT THAT BAD
She is very smart, but a horrible teacher. Her directions are hard to follow, she's constantly sending you more homework to do, very strict rules even if you have a legitimate excuse to need a change in them. I can see why some say she's biased (politically). Just help yourself and stay away.
Dr Bahl is extremely inspiring. She is an open book thirsty to teach and make a difference socially. She is an excellent professor and I recommend you take her SOC course(s). It is her calling in life to teach. It brings me great joy to have her on my campus! People bad mouth her because she makes you work! TAKE HER CLASSES!
Don't take her if you don't want to waste your time. Dr. Bahl is a biased and difficult professor to work with and her test are ridiculous for an intro level class. She treats the class like its your only class and its for your masters degree. Avoid if you want to keep a good GPA with out spending all your time on a gen ed.
If you are a lazy student then you will struggle with this class. Yes, she makes you read and write and internalized information. It is what college is about. Dr Bahl is a fine educator and any open minded person who won't judge her as a "foreigner" should be able to see that. You're struggling? Go to her office hours, she wants you to succeed!!
I LOVE Dr Bahl. She is going to blow your mind with her knowledge. She wants you to succeed. This class IS HARD w/ short essays due weekly and only 2 exams. She gives you a study guide with the EXACT test questions. Do the HW and ACTUALLY study the exam questions and you will pass. I am OBSESSED with Sociology because of her awesome instruction!
DO NOT TAKE HER. She is so unclear with her information, I don't care what anyone else says. She sends so many worksheets over email it is hard to keep track. You take two exams worth 25% each of your grade. If you want to maintain a good grade point average, stay away.
Dr.Bahl is a very helpful professor. She will go out of her way to ensure that her students will succeed.The people who say not to take her are lazy and don't want to put the time into learning the very complex discipline of Sociology. She is a wonderful professor and an incredible asset to Pennsylvania College of Technology.
I learned more from this class than all of my history classes combined. The class was very demanding but the outcome was worth it. If you are up for a challenge and actually obtaining useful knowledge then this is the class for you. If you are lazy and just want an easy A then you should probably pick a different course. She is a terrible professor for many reasons. Had to drop her class so I wouldn''t fail in my other classes for my major amongst other reasons.
She asks the students questions during the entire class period and if you don't know the answer, she puts you down in front of the whole class. Worst professor I ever had. I leave every class wanting to cry.

This course provided a comprehensive understanding of technology & global social issues with the professors emphasis on the interdependence of all societies in dealing with the continuous advances of technology that are creating the said global social problems. The assignments and classroom discussions with this professor enhanced my understanding.
Dr. Bahl is too hard on her students. She is very hard to understand and her grading system is not right.
The doc can be a little strict in class, and her accent can be a little difficult to get past. However, this class is an eye opener if you don't dismiss her as anti American. You should hear her talk about the problems in India.

Dr. Bahl knows her subject very well and presents it it a reasonable manner. However, expect to write A LOT and a lot of homework. With the amount of work given one would think Dr. Bahl thinks this is your only course. If you miss a class expect to be playing catch up at some point.
Dr. Bahl is an amazing professor. She wants respect, so do not go into her class expecting to be able to be disrespectful. She very knowledgeable about the subject and able to think diversely. She is available outside of the classroom and willing and eager to engage with students who desire to succeed.
