Has an accent. He has a unique style of teaching - if you don't like it, then you may not like his class. I thought he was a great teacher. Don;t bother asking questions during a test because he will NOT help you. Great class, overall.

There are not any assignments or quizzes. the down side to that is that you don't get a chance to figure out what you do and don't know. Exams are difficult considering there are no quizzes or assignments before hand. He gives breaks, but during the breaks he teaches, so there really is no break. He is very kind and is easy to talk to.

If you attend class, you should do well on his exams. Most long answer questions come directly from lecture. He is really passionate about Organic Chemistry and about the progression of Chemistry as a field. He marks his exams with consideration to the class's average knowledge. I would recommend taking his course if Chemistry isnt your strong suit

Such a good prof, he is clear with what he expect you to know and always helpful if you get confused. This class isn't easy but he make it very interesting. I've always hated chemistry but now it's one of my favourite topics. But if you don't like attending classes this is not the prof for you. Most of the things on exams are discussed in class.

Vinay is an excellent chemistry teacher. Don't worry so much about scrambling to write all the notes down, just LISTEN! Part of the exams are based on the textbook but a lot of the long answer questions are from the discussions in class about real-life applications; not what you can find in the book or notes.

Makes class interesting and he makes sure his students know what is going on. Tries his best to answer any questions you may have and a very fair marker, marks for the steps taken and not just the final answer. ALWAYS did better than I expected!

Midterms are super easy, but you will die writing the final exam, it is super long and very tricky. He's a nice guy always willing to help but when i say his final is hard, ITS HARD.

I got an A+ in Chem 114. Vinay made it clear and easy to learn. You need to work hard throughout the course though. After talking to Vinay, I learned that the class average was 75% and six students got A+. (SFU/UBC average is 55%). The final exam was hard though. If you depend on rot learning, are lazy or not too smart, Vinay is not your teacher!

Great prof, kinda hard to understand the first few weeks though. Midterm averages were I believe about 70% each? final is pretty difficult. Lecture can be hard to follow though, but Vinay's always willing to help.

Vinay is an excellent Chemistry professor. He knows his stuff, and conveys information clearly (you'll get used to his accent). He really likes real-world applications, which I found useful and fascinating. He always checks to see if students are 'okay with this'. If not, he will explain it in another way.

Definitely gets you into the course material. He's really smart and connects what you're learning in lecture to real life. MAKE SURE YOU SIT NEAR THE FRONT OF CLASS. Very fast speaker, but also very smart. Definitely knows his stuff, and if you're having trouble he's more than willing to help. A bit tough to get ahold of by email, though. You'll definitely want to pay attention during class, though; he covers a lot of material, and his tests are no joke. You can do well, but you'll have to work for it.

Vinay is amazing!! Took him for Chem 113. I got a C- in Chem 12 but in his class I managed an A- His tests are really tough but he's such an easy marker. As long as you write something related to the topic he always gives you some marks.

Vinay is very specific and his tests are straightforward. Assignments are ez pz and everything is fair. Never leave a question blank, he usually gives you marks for anything related to the question! Very interactive and funny, also 10/10 hot would bang. For real though, my favorite Prof, had him for 113 and taking 114. Normal study and easy A :)

The best chem teacher at UFV. If you know what you are doing, and he thinks you know what you're doing, you'll get good marks on all your exams. Lectures are very interesting because he makes real world applications all the time. The only downside (hardly) is that he has a bit of an accent so is sometimes hard to understand.

Vinay was awesome, made Chem 113 my favourite class by far. He's very good at explaining concepts using similes or in terms of something else. I found the course material very interesting which helped but still Vinay kept class interesting and entertaining. All the material you're tested on is stuff he goes over in class so show up, listen, pass.

Great class. Clear lectures but he expects you to work hard. One of the best teachers at UFV. No need for textbook. All notes, lectures and even solution manuals were provided. Not for weak students though as he doesn't baby feed kids. Always available in his office. He would actually announce his office hours, after everything class! Highly recomm

He gives partial marks for trying. Very passionate about chemistry, made it interesting. If he gives real life examples chances are they will be on the midterm. Text was no help for midterms finals, study the practice examples on the lecture and the ones he gives in class. What ever he reviews before the test will be on the test.

Really inspiring chem prof. All of his examples he gives in class will be relevant test material, so do yourself a favour and take pristine notes because that will be your ticket to an A+. You need to be quick on his tests though, as there are a lot of written answers. Gives marks for trying as long as he understands what you said on the test.

Awesome prof. I'm not normally a fan of chemistry, but he makes lectures very interesting, gives breaks throughout the class, and is hilarious. He's also an really generous marker which helps a lot for his tests. He addresses everything you need to know for exams in class, so make sure you don't miss any classes. Definitely recommend him!

Vinay is an AMAZING! If you are used to studying by heart (rot learning), you will have a tough time. It's fantastic how he makes difficult concepts easy to understand. So as long as you follow his instructions, show your methods , you will do really well in the class. He always announces his O. H. at the end. Don't skip the lectures.

Vinay is the BEST at UFV. Students who complain about him are the same students who get spoonfed in high school and expect the same in post secondary. He doesn't believe in rot learning. If you expect to learn chemistry by heart, you'll fail. POINT. Lots of examples. He literally waits in his office with a candle and are always willing to help.

Vinay is by far my favourite prof at UFV! He is funny and helpful and the only prof I can think of that is a generous marker. The material is difficult so as long as you do your part and work hard he will help you succeed.

At first, I didn't like Vinay but I took a second course with him and he really grows on you. He's pretty funny, and ALWAYS available to help, fair at marking and will let you argue points on an exam if you feel like you have deserved them. Plays music in his lab section- overall great prof.

The material is the best out there. I need continuing education and would not consider going to any other class. Vinay knows what he's doing; as a former teacher, I would give him all A's. His teaching methods are engaging and educational.

He is a great prof. He doesn't rush through content, and stayed late after class to help students and was very available. Would take him again! I had him for the lab as well and he is fun and open to any questions you have.

Good prof, was usually able to help with work before every class and as long as you are paying attention the lectures were pretty clear. Gives good practice content as well that helps you understand how to use the equations in each topic.

Overall good prof, was able to take questions before almost every class. His lectures were easy to follow along with as long as you were paying attention. Examples were also clear and he helped if you didn't fully understand it. He taught the lab portion too so it was nice that he directly tied in the lecture content to the lab activity.
