Connors has been called dr. meanie, and what ever else you may hear. He is just a straight up jerk, who does not care if his students do well or not. He is the only professor I will say that is just useless. He needs clarity and breath in his teaching.
I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR, HE IS COOL AS HELL. HIS CLASS IS JUST WONDERFUL AND HE MAKES YOU LEARN ALL THE MATERIALS POSSIBLE. NICE MAN AND DEFIENTLY YOU SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS.
I know the students who rate this guy bad for this class - they can't even pass into bio so you can figure out pretty quick why they don't like someone with standards - most helpfull teacher at this college!

Excellent teacher if you're not a fundie bible thumper. He's tough but fair and inspires those who aren't too lazy to learn. Great time in his class!
Even as a Christian I loved this guy's balanced look at evolution - he showed me WHY science works and that just blind faith doesn't make something true - TAKE THIS GUY TO LEARN SOMETHING AND BE OPEN TO HOW GOD REALLY WORKS!

hard, boring
Not helpful at all. He thinks he knows everything in the world, even not involving BIO. Extremely hard to keep up and understand everything in the class.
Realize that this is not an easy class and if studying and staying up late aren't your thing, then don't take this class because you will fail. He is a VERY helpful professor, but it's up to you to go by his office, notes are a little different, but success is possible as long as you put time in!

He is a very fair grader, and very brutal scoring lab papers. His tests and mini-exams were not too difficult if you studied and understood, but he can be picky as to what he wants for an answer (even though a clear answer isn't in his notes). Exams are essays and short answers.

He was terrible. All he did was talk about his personal intrest and lecture us on how bad the bible belt was and how we (college kids) are all lazy. His test are very difficult and he picks favorites.

HARD AS HECK CLASS!
Never comments on Christians and speaks honestly about evolution.
This is the best teacher for this subject!! material is a pain in the a$$ to remember, but some of it is fun. Tests are MC and take a lot of thinking, dont think you can just wing it by not attending lecture, big big mistake. if you get a bad grade and then improve on next test, he gives you half the differnce added to past bad grade. what a deal.

If you're a Christian and are easily offended, then I don't recommend him. If you overlook his obviously anti-Christian stance, great teacher. Very interesting, funny, more than willing to help you, actually kept me awake at 8am (that's saying something). Quizzes and tests are HARD; you absolutely MUST study and attend lecture, or you WILL fail. B-

Horrible...i went to every single lab and only missed his class like 3 times and i got a D. It's really hard and boring. LOTS of notes. Tests are impossible...quizzes are cool because they are online.
Save yourself the misery. He is loud, obnoxious, and thinks that students are stupid. He complains and lectures about what we are and aren't doing on a daily basis. He thinks that we should know everything about biology. His labs are horrible. He doesn't help you and his quizzes are impossible. He should not be a professor.

Dr.Connors is the biggest mistake USC Upstate has ever made. Rude, condescending, ****, clearly picks favorites, and quite disrespectful of students. If you're a female or anything less than the stereotypical "macho man" AVOID HIM. He allowed the oafs in our class to constantly harass the girls and 2 foreign exchange students. Completely unfair.

What a jerk. If you want to mess up your transcript, take his class. He is proud that he only gives one A per class and fails over 50 percent. Yes no lie. Also full of himself thinks that he is something special even though he couldnt get into dental, medical school. So now he derails others from their dreams. Told many they wouldnt make it.
Connors does not teach BIO300.
he is the hardest professor ever. he never answers questions and he is a jerk. we have no idea what his tests will be on because he never informs us.

Dr. Connors has helped me go from a lazy C student to an A+ student :D. He really enjoys encouraging his students to succeed but you won't like him if you do the bare minimum to get by. Very realistic! Hard work but totally worth it!!!
This class is already challenging, but this professor makes it even more difficult. The test are tricky & he didn't even know the answers to some of the questions. He even told us that we wouldn't pass his test or make high grades, but we would be improving. Do not take this professor. You will stduy hard, but your test grades won't reflect it.
Wow - I took Dr. C and I am a student at Upstate. Gotta say, I'm ashamed that the nasty comments are written by fellow students who can't even spell and yet they graduate. Not sure I'd want to hire someone like that if I were a boss.

I really enjoyed having Dr. Connors! So much that I have him for BIO 102 lecture again. He is encouraging, but he can def tell the differece between a slacker and someone who participates in class. Make sure you look over Chapter Review Questions in textbook! His exams are very straight forward.
Dr.C is a very challenging professor but if you work hard, you'll do just fine. The tests are straight from his powerpoints and from the chapter questions in the book.It never hurts to read the chapter for a better understanding of the material because his lectures are quite fast. DO NOT take him if you want an easy grade!!
He is a good professor. The content is sort of hard but he does make it harder. If you have a choice take Bannan, shes REALLY boring but a lot easier.
Dr.Connors is a very hard teacher and Immunology is a very hard/interesting class. But you need a hard professor like him to prepare you for your graduate/med school classes. If u study his notes and read the text book, you can make a good grade. Requires VERY detailed answers on the tests. He gives improvement points on tests. Picky lab grading.
Dr. Connors is a jerk. He mocked me for not understanding something. He is a terrible lecturer. Spends the whole class trying to scare people away from Biology, lecturing about time management.
He is a pretty cool professor whenever he is NOT rushing. On his Last lecture be prepared because hes just going to skim through everything veryy quickly. His class is very time consuming because he makes it more in dept then needed to but he also explains it clearly and helps you understand. Study. Study. Study is all I have to say. Good Luck!
He's a very good teacher and not very boring. He does go fast with the note and it is a lot of material. His class is very hard; however, he is not dull to listen to and he tries to make it a fun class--well as fun as lectures could be. And that is all the class is, also he uses connect (online quizzes and homework) that took me hours to finish.
This professor is rude, unprofessional, and just plain old mean. Very arrogant and not helpful in the slightest. Only take him if there is absolutely no way around it. Worst professor I have ever had.
I made a decent grade in the class (B) but I dreaded going. Connors made rude comments about women in biology and when I tried to talk to him about my interest in research, he was dismissive. He is arrogant, uninspiring and overall, a poor teacher of the subject.
I must be completely honest & say that this was the worst teacher I've ever had. He does make rude comments about women in some of his lectures. I've NEVER had problems with any of my professors and passed all my classes but his and I studied day in and day out. He only helps who he wants and is VERY arrogant. I pray that you do not take his class!
The most confusing professor I have ever taken. He didn't specify what was going to be on exams and he always got off subject. His class requires you to do a lot of INDEPENDENT studying and learning; you basically teach yourself. The exams really make you think and are very tricky. You have to beg for help. Very degrading to students.
I don't mean to be disrespectful but I'm honestly shocked that this man still has a job, haha! He constantly brags about how many "magazines" and stuff he's published when in reality no one cares. Awesome professor. Knows what he is talking about and is always willing to help. Is a tough grader but hey it's biology what do you expect? Work hard pay attention, take notes READ ALL MATERIAL and you should be fine.
Good teacher but very tough. On the first exam 2 people got C's and the rest of the class got F's. On my exam, I got the answers right but not with enough details so he gave me partial credit and no credit (mostly no credit). With this class, study like your life depends on it. Listen in class, go to tutoring and SI. let him Know who you are.
I dropped his class. First exam with only 2 people pass with a C!! He comes off kind of rude to me. Everyone in class seems scared of him & he tells us we can't ask him questions unless it's outside of class.
Dr. Connors has high expectation from students, as he should. If you study and pay attention, you won't have a problem getting at least a B. Tests and quizzes are straight from lecture. If you are confused about something, go talk to him. He is more than willing to help. Is it an easy class? No, but you get out of it what you put into it.
Dr. Connors is a tough teacher, not very lenient and is very brutal when grading quizzes and tests(no partial credit for anything). Expectations are high, even though several students in my class weren't even biology majors. Quickly went over powerpoints and refused to provide them for reference. Lab report instructions contradictory.
You have to attend class. He lectures quickly, but if you have questions he is more than happy to answer. He quizzes often. Twice I had to correct when he marked answers incorrect when I had gotten them right, but other than that, he's proficient.
Very good professor, Dr. Connors is able to explain complex things in more simple ways to understand without being condescending. Bio 101 is a difficult class but Dr. Connors is an excellent professor.
His tests are very tricky and difficult so he is sure that you really know the information. Do not take this course if you are not willing to devote a lot of your time to it.
This person is absolutely the most depressing professor I have ever had to endure.
Dr. Connors is a great guy and easy to listen to during lab, but I would avoid taking any of his classes again. -He does not post lab powerpoints for future reference which makes studying much harder. -He aggressively grades lab reports to prepare students for harder classes down the road. This makes it very hard to attain high scores.
I would never take this teacher again nor would I recommend him to another student. He takes forever to grade assignments, does not reply to emails, and is a very tough and picky grader. Attendance is mandatory. Take at your own risk.
Just study. His class is not that hard. Make sure you know everything he could possibly ask at least 3 days before exam time. Anticipate the free response questions he will ask you for the exams. I made a list- and every time there were only 1 or 2 questions that I didnt anticipate. Love him as a professor.
