Nice guy and actually fairly good teacher too. Goes over things a little to slowly sometimes so class can be boring but class is easy. Attendance is required.
A nice guy, but a little boring sometimes. Tests are easy, especially since he puts out a practice test. Requires attendance.
Very clear and thorough in the information he presented. Also, if you have any questions, he was eager to help you. Excellent teacher for those who don't quite like economics but have to take it.
Choe is a good teacher, very clear on what tests will be on because of practice test, sometimes he takes a bit of time during lectures to find the right words. Vrey fair grader, only bad thing is he takes attendance but he'll give you extra credit for it.
This class was very easy I never opened my book i just read his notes on line and took his practice test. If you do that and go to class you should easily get an A in the class without very much effort!
Choe is real nice, professional, and straight out simplistic. He spells everything out so a 1st grader could understand. Tests are easy, and I rarely looked at the book. Online Aplia fee was a bummer to pay to do the hwk's. His gentle voice is so low I could fall asleep to it, yet loud & clear enough to take in all the knowledge. interesting stuff
Easy class, research paper and presentation worthless..only worth fraction of grade. He makes it impossible to fail
great guy, i loved the class. he gives you all the things you need to know for the test. he loves his job. sometimes he is hard to understand but you get used to it. highly recommend this prof.
Great teacher but hard to understand at first.
Choe is in excelllent professor, he teaches you so much, yet goes just slow enough so you can fully understand the class material. Homework on aplia offers points besides tests, extra credit for attendance-but attendance is mandatory because he will take points off your final grade if you skip more than 4 classes. over all great class, great prof!
Easiest class I've taken. You don't need to read the book, but it definitely helps. Lectures are extremely boring, and he takes attendance. Recommend for an easy A
Great Prof and very entertaining in class. You ave to buy a computer program called Aplia, but it is worth it. Has online hw almost every week, but its not tough. He is hard to understand at first but he explains material in way everyone can understand. This class was very easy, and you get extra points for good attendance.
at first unclear with his asian accent, but you get used to it and he talks very slow. test questions come right from course material and old tests, easy weekly assignments
You have homework almost every week on an online program called Aplia. The homewor is easy and helps your grade. You get points for attendence, he was kind of hard to understand at first, speaks slow, I wouldn't reccomend taking him in a night class. I wish I had taken a day class with him.
Choe is a very good teacher. You can mess around on your computer in class and he doesn't mind. He is hard to understand at first, but after a few weeks you'll fully understand him. Very nice guy. Tests are very very hard, but because the HW and quizzes are online it's easy to "cheat" on them. Great prof!
Teacher is quite hard to understand. Most of the time I would zone out in class but I would learn the material through the internet quizzes and a little bit of reading. If you show up everyday he adds 4% to your final grade
I like this teacher a lot he is my favoriete, I studied his slides for exams and I got an A in his class, if you don't like to study and need easy A this is not your class ..
Nice guy. not too dificult to understand. wants his students to learn.
His accent is so bad. He is not helpfull with students.if you want to adventure and you do not care about your GBA, then take his class.
Amazing guy. Has a bit of an accent but makes up for it. Always has handouts, writes on the board, usues D2L all the time; couldn't be more helpful. Always smiling and makes class enjoyable.
CLASS IS VERY EASY! TESTS ARE EASY! JUST DO YOUR APLIA ASSIGNMENT (online homework) AND YOU WILL DEFINATELY GET AN A... HAS A REALLY BAD ACCENT THO
He does have an accent, but he is very helpful and wants everyone to understand the material. Don't buy the book there is one included in the website you will use for his class. Easy class just due assignments that are easy and pay attention in class. He is a very nice guy and curves the exams.
Dr. Choe is one of the easiest professor I've ever had. Don't buy the print text book, just study his slides, and do your homework. Don't skip the class if you can, his lectures are very interesting and he adds extra stuff on top of the materials on his slides. He's funny and extremely nice. You should be able to get at least a B for this class.
He is a great professor! He is really nice and loves to smile. Yes he has an accent but it's easy to pick up on it after the first week. He talks slow enough for you to understand and explains things in ways you can understand them. He is a great teacher!
Vince is so friendly, he always has a smile! He never has one wrinkle in his shirt....EVER! He is very professional and organized. Best handwriting you will ever see. He is hard to understand the first day, but he talks slow enough for everyone to understand. He uses Aplia which helps a TON, do your online homework assignments and you'll be golden!
a gentlemen with accent <3 I like him!!
Mr. Choe is hard to understand at first, but after the second week I understood him easily. His notes are posted on D2L, and the test material is hinted on in class. I would recommend attending class and printing off the notes and study them often. Even though it was recommended to use APALIA (or EPALIA, I can't remember), I did not use it.
Great teacher Used alot of real world examples to make the learning process easier. He took a subject that I was dreading a made it simple and interesting. I am sorry to see him go.
The first day of class he said he was not supposed to teach business statistics and that he is filling in for the semester. He was absolutely terrible. He gets confused on some problems and ends up teaching us wrong. All homework is done online in Connect.
TERRIBLE TEACHER! so hard to get in A. average on the tests are around 70 percent.
Very helpful and puts everything online which is nice, but very hard to understand. I did not use the textbook at all because it is posted on aplia that for econ101 we had to have to do assignments anyway.. overall though.. terrible experience.
He is an awful teacher, can barley understand him. He isn't helpful when a question is asked. His tests are difficult even with adequate prior studying. I would not ever take a class from him again.
Vice Choe is ok he got this strong accent but you get used to it. and he is really helpful, answers emails right away. i am expecting A in this class and all I did was attend class and do all the online homeworks. if you don't like too much online stuff take the class with Phillip Miller, I am taking my Econ 202 with him . he takes only tests.
He's an awesome teacher. Econ 301 is math based and pretty much adds econ terms to everything taught in college algebra and some Calc. If you've taken calc before this class it will be a breeze. He is also very willing to help and point you to resources if needed.
Lectures are beyond boring, has such a monotone voice that I found myself doing other classes homework during lecture. Aplia assignments are the only other thing your graded on besides tests! Gives practice exams and answers but still could barely get a B on the tests after reading and going through the practice exams. TAKES ATTENDANCE EVERY DAY!
The class isn't horrible but his lecturing is severely dry. Has online work due every Sunday and it's simple stuff, especially if you have your book in front of you. Takes attendance points every class period. Has an accent too, not the worst I have experienced at MSU though.
I liked him as a Professor he was hard to understand at first but you get use to it. Has homework which helps your grade in the long run, also 3% boost on your grade if you don't miss more than 3 lectures.
All you have to do is show up to class and you should do well. He is a very slow teacher and makes sure students are understanding. Gives out a lot of homework but it doesn't really take a lot of time and is actually quite beneficial. His tests aren't hard and his lectures aren't too boring. I would recommend having him as a professor.
Very good teacher, Goes nice and slow, and actually cares if you learn the material. You get homework assignments every week but they are super easy, just a little time consuming and super beneficial and they are also worth 20 percent of grade. I got 99.9 percent on my homework about so it's definitely easy points. Would recommend.
Not the greatest class but easy and layout is clear.
Lectures are long and boring. He has online homework due every week. Tests are hard so be prepared to study.
Read the textbook, don't skip class, do the homework, don't just study the night before the exam, and you'll be fine! Tests aren't similar to homework. Reading the book helps
Does a great job teaching. His lectures cover everything if you take good notes you'll pass for sure. If you do have a problem he is more than flexible. Makes a little bit of a tougher course fairly easy.
Lectures are long but he goes over all you will need to know for the test. Assigns homework every week. It's easy enough. Gives practice tests and answers which are useful. Friendly. Smiles a lot.
Friendly: smiles a lot. Long lectures but he goes over what you will need to know for the test. Assigns homework online. Attend classes if you want to pass.
I learn very well with powerpoint and thats how his lectures are. Very clear and gives lots of examples. Expect weekly online homework and you will NEED to make notecards of PowerPoint. Exams are straight forward but are anything that has been on PowerPoints. ATTEND CLASS! If you don't miss more than one day you get 4% added to your final grade!!
He wasn't a bad teacher by any means. You must study intensely to do well in the class though. On three of the exams out of four, the class average was under 68 percent. The class wasn't lazy. I would know because I was busting my butt in it. I have to take Macroeconomics again. If you are MSU, take the other Macro professor, said to be easier.
He's very smart and knows his stuff. Classes are too long and boring. ALOT of online hw. Exams are not that tough.
One of the best teachers I've had to date. Really explains concepts and makes sure you understand them. If you take notes and pay attention, this class should go very well for you. I would definitely recommend Vince to anyone taking Econ 201. He gets so excited about economics, and wants to make it enjoyable for everyone.
Takes attendance everyday. Has an accent but you can get used to it after a little while. Very friendly guy and loves what he does, extremely helpful too. Makes sure the students learn the stuff. Tests can be difficult, but he gives out old exams and some of the questions on his tests are from the old exam. Also reading the book helps a lot on test
The class itself was pretty difficult for me, but if you show him that you are willing to work hard and improve your grade he'll help you. I went to his office hours a couple times when my homework grades were bad and he re-opened a bunch of assignments for me so I could improve my scores. He's also helpful at helping you study for tests if you ask
Vincent was ok as a prof. His lectures are long and it can be hard to focus at times. He has a thin accent, but can be understood and is open to questions if the material is understood. Attendance points are given so class is a must! Tests are difficult, as expected for an Econ class. Vincent wasn't a bad choice for Macroeconomics.
Great teacher. Highly recommend. He made lectures interesting so I learned alot. Realistic expectations. Pleasant demeanor and attitude. Online homework came with online access to the specific chapters of the book so I didn't have to purchase the print version. Do the homework, study his powerpoints & previous test questions and you should do well.
Really is a professional. The material is boring, but it's econ. Attendance is taken daily so be sure to keep up. He's a decent teacher; take good notes and he's very approachable with any questions. Tests are kind of long and tricky but aren't too bad. If I passed, you can too. He does have a bit of an accent but his English is fantastic.
Dr. Choe was really great. Though the lectures are long, he manages to make them interesting. It is also apparent that he enjoys the topic and cares whether or not his students learn. The class itself is difficult- especially the exams, but he is available to answer questions and offer guidance.
Dr. Choe is an excellent economics professor. Economics in general is tough for many students (including myself), but Dr. Choe is extremely willing and eager to help outside of class. Exams are difficult, but as long as you read the book, attend class, and put forth your best effort on studying for exams, you should enjoy this class.
Choe Kwang is a very caring and nice professor. He does have an accent but you do get used to it. Tests are pretty difficult so get ready to study. If you attend every class period or only miss just 1 he will give you 4% towards your final grade. He was very helpful when I met with him at his office hours, and very understanding about homework.
Vincent is a really nice guy and a fanstastic professor but his lectures are too boring and the exams are really difficult and trickier. Be definitely ready to read and do not skip class if you wanna pass. will recommend his classes
Dr. Choe is a caring professor. He tried hard to explain some difficult concepts even though he sometime confused himself. Exams and quizzes are not too difficult if you read not only his notes but also the textbook. Generally, his class is pretty easy.
Boring class
Good guy but a very hard class. Class average on most tests is around a 69-72%. Thats AFTER the curve too. Lectures are very boring and if you do take this class do not take it at 8am as you will often ask yourself if its even worth it to go at that time of day. And thats not just my opinion.
He is a caring professor, he will explain things if you ask for help. Be ready to read the book, if you read it before the lecture it makes the lecture content easier to grasp.
He tries to make the lecture more understandable by giving examples. The tests are based off of lectures and the textbook. Do the homework, it will help curve your grade especially when youre not that great at economic like me. Overall, hes a nice professor to talk to when you have questions.
In his class, you get what you put in. Thats fair and not all profesors are like that.
Hard tests
Dr. Choe is a solid professor. His lectures are pretty good and he makes sure that the class knows what material will be on exams. The only grades are 4 exams, attendance, and some weekly homework assignments though. His accent is really a non-factor, and he shows a great deal of passion for economics. Overall, I would definitely recommend him.
Professor Choe is very well versed in economics. While his accent can take some getting used to, he really tries to help students understand lecture concepts. Homework and tests have a good balance in the overall course grade. He does award 4 bonus points to those who have missed 0-1 lectures.
Pretty much the most basic the class gets. You go in, he lectures, eventually you have a test. No projects, papers, just four exams and online homework every week. Attendance can boost grade a little. Lectures are not special. Tried to help learning process as much as he can but still minimal extra learning
Super clear directions, sets you up to succeed in the class. Most of the material is common sense. Nothing too difficult. Offers attendance credit, which really helps. Just do the MindTap and you're gtg.
The tests are very hard I spent 12 a week studying and doing homework
Professor takes forever to respond to emails. He is not understanding in any way and does not speak very good English. The course discussions are confusing and sometimes did not make any sense. Does not allow late assignments even if weird measures come up due to Covid-19. Very confusing class to take completely online if theteacher doesn't teach.
I took this class online and really didn't have much interaction with the professor other than a check-in email a few times a week, and most of those emails were from the teacher's assistants. It's not a very hard class but it is incredibly time intensive. The book is absolutely required, get Cengage unlimited it will save you money in the long run
He really took advantage of covid by doing absolutely nothing, and letting the students teach themselves. Homework and discussions are due every Sunday. All he does is send reminder emails about due dates, hes completely useless. Some chapters are long and the homework is time consuming, I shouldnt have to teach myself a course that Im paying 4.
he is good guy cares about his students
His lectures are on the boring side, all homework and exams were online, so as long as you do the mindtap assignments and do decent on the exams, you should be fine.
All the homework and tests are online so if you do those your fine. Very long and boring lectures but you dont need to show up if you do the homework.
(Also ECON 202) Both classes are through Cengage. If you do the homework and read his notes, you'll pass. If you attend lectures, he has an accent, but you'll get used to it quickly. All tests are online (4 total). Sweet guy, cares about his work.
*also 201. He is a very sweet and caring guy. Accent may take time to get used to. I honestly never really attended class, and still received a great grade. Just make sure you do the homework and do well on the exams!
Super nice guy but i could not understand a word he said. the tests were all online and his favorite words are "ok den" and "so now den".
Took this class as Hyflex and I didn't go towards the end but still did well because you are granted three attempts on each question for the homework. Required to do two assignments per chapter and that's it besides the exams. He knows what he is talking about but can be a little hard to understand sometimes. Overall I recommend
There are two assignments per lesson that are easy. Lectures are easy to follow along with if you go in person (really hard to understand over zoom). This was my second class with him and I would always choose him for Econ classes.
Overall, the class is not terrible because there are few assignments, but I don't think I understood a word the professor said which made the tests very hard.
Dr. Choe is a nice kind professor. I stopped going to his lectures after the first month, but I kept up with my homework and got A-'s on my exams (which were easy) I took the exams online and the class hybrid. Just make sure you stay on top of your work, and you'll do great.
He's okay. It's hard to understand his accent and the stuff we learned in class didn't help with homework. In this class, you should rely on the textbook and cengage help.
He uses Cengage, for each chapter you have to read a chapter, do the problems/applications, and homework. The grading is best out of three. The exams use lockdown browser without camera but are pretty difficult if you don't have Chegg. At the end of the sem. he drops the lowest test and two lowest homework but my grade didn't even change.
He is very hard to understand. He makes the class extremely boring. His homework and tests are completely anti-AI. If you use AI, you will do awful in this class (Unless you have chegg).
I took this course 100% online, there's a lot of reading and homework assignments. Lowest midterm score gets dropped, 2 lowest assignments get dropped. Lots of communication about assignments due and when tests are taken. Overall easy class.
Took this class as an 8 am and should not have, he talks slowly which makes it hard to retain information while being tired, but his grading is extremely fair. He drops the lowest exam, and the two lowest homework assignments. Additionally, he has attendance points listed as 10/7, every missed day = one less point. Overall, interesting class.
