extremely incomprehensible, doesn't let you ask questions. nice but really needs to work on his teaching style
Rather unorganized, and is extremely difficult to follow in class. Although the material is not that difficult, the class itself is very hard because of his lack of organization and poor teaching style. He's a new professor so I'll cut him some slack, and he's a nice guy, but you have to teach yourself. Exams are very difficult so STUDY extremely
Roughest class ever. Really really needs to work on teaching style but he's gotten better over the course of the semester
It's a difficult class, and I'm not a chemistry person, but he gives you so many opportunities to learn and keep up. He posts everything online, and responds to emails and suggestions. He definitely knows what students are going through. I had no problem with him, and I'm not a great student. People probably don't like him because they did poorly.
I found the material easy to grasp but learning it straight from Vince was not the way to go. He's way unorganized with his notes. If you can do his examples, Your-Turns, and the MasteringChemistry by yourself twice before each exam, you should be fine. This ain't Chem M01A though so don't tell yourself you know the material when you don't
he's an alright professor, definitely have to study long & hard. he tries to help but usually will say "this is chem 1a stuff, you should know it". test are pretty hard but the concepts are pretty understandable.provides slides online which help a lot.replies to emails really quickly.he got better throughout the semester, overall, hard prof but good.
Chem major and barely passed this class with an A.He is a very unorganized professor and forget asking questions during class because he doesn't know the material himself but expects us to figure it out before the tests. His tests are incredibly hard and his partial credit is 2 or 3 points out of 10.Get help elsewhere and memorize the quizzes and hw
His tests are not too hard as long as you do Mastering Chemistry and work through example problems he gives in class. He is enthusiastic about the subject and does wish to see students succeed.
Crisostomo is an excellent teacher; I barely used the textbook because the lecture slides he makes are so clear. The online homework is very helpful too--barely did any practice problems from the book and got an A in the class (and I'm NOT a science major). He is very approachable so ask for help if you need it! Study hard and you'll succeed.
He is a good professor. Don't listen to the people who have posted on here before. Honest opinion, he was a new teacher last semester, and at times that was very obvious. But throughout the semester he took time out to alter his expectations, and really attempted to accommodate student's needs. Also cares about students and wants them to do well.
And as for the "Chem major" that in his words "barely passed the class" you need to strongly consider choosing a new major, because if you had trouble in a gen Chem class, with even a decent professor, you will devastated by the time chem 7 roles around even with a phenomenal teacher at the helm.
He is an excellent professor, and anyone who says otherwise probably didn't try. HW is 10% of your grade and therefore important to complete. He is very generous with partial credit if you DESERVE it. He is knowledgeable and willing to help if you take your time to approach him.I would highly recommend taking a class with Professor Crisostomo.
Bottom line all you lazy complainers that dont take responility for your decisions. If you want an A in any class YOU WILL EARN it. Wonderful teacher who loves and is devoted to teaching chemistry.
I just started this class and it is very difficult for me especially since I have never taken Chemistry in my life. It's hard to grasp the information he lectures us, so I would suggest reading the textbook and practicing the problems in there as well as doing the homework on MasteringChemistry. And for lab, make sure you get a good lab partner
Coolest professor ever. His way of teaching is exactly what I like to be. I love Chem anyway. :)
He is hands down the best professor I have ever had!Hes not boring at all during lecture, explains very thoroughly. He's generous w partial credit on the exams. He shows you exactly what needs to be done in lab, and the best part is the way he does his notes in lecture. The handouts and mastering chem are super helpful.I'll definitely take him again
Professor Crisostomo is an amazing teacher! He tries to be as fair as possible with assignments, and although hIS tests are hard, he prepares you for them. However you do have to study A LOT!! Lectures aren't too bad, I never skipped a day! And you're pretty much guaranteed full credit on lab because he doesn't let you leave until it's right!
Good teacher. Taking him for the second semester (Intro chem and gen chem). Tests directly from the lecture. Tells you what you need to know. No confusion. Study = Good grade. Must study but not impossible.
Professor Cristisomo drop ur attitude and learn how to teach. You have no right being that rude when ur a new professor that doesn't even know how to help students learn properly. Be clear...not spew jargon and act like ur almighty. Pff.
This is my second time taking a class with him, and he is still as great of a professor as he was in my other class. He's passionate and knowledgable of the subject. His notes are very well organized and makes it easy to follow along. He's a very kind and helpful man. Overall a great professor, I will be taking him for a third class next semester
He's a disaster. I believed those cm below and took his Chem 1A class, and the whole semester of mine turned out to be a hard time of suffering. Most other pp in class agreed with me that he was trying to show how smart he was rather than improving his teaching. Stay away from him if you don't want yourself to suffer like us. He's not that good.
Poor poor students who end up with him. When we as America begin to discuss the disaster of our education system in America...he is an example of where our students are getting very little out of a course that offers a LOT. I will encourage u students to pick a professor who expects a lot from u because they teach u NOT a professor who doesnt. SAD.
After taking his class, all what I wish for the rest of my student life is "never have any more professors in any classes are like this professor". Oh my God, he stressed me and treated me as stupid when I did nothing bad about him and never told anybody bad about him. I still have no idea why he did all that weird stuffs to me !!!???
Now is winter break but I am still haunted by his class. If you used to be picked when you was in secondary school and there were always rumors about you around, then his class will bring you back to those days.Stay away from him !
Wow tough crowd, had him for both Chems. He loves chemistry and it really shows when he teaches. Mastering chemistry is a pain but really its where i learned the most. His lectures are ok but you have to study yourself to completely understand the material. Study mastering chem questions and lecture questions for tests and ull be set
These kids below are obviously failures. They know nothing of chemistry and they put no effort into the class. They recieved the grades they earned. PERIOD! He is totally fair and actually cares about his students so long as you care about his class. Most homework is online. Just study for tests and you will be fine. Trust me.
Very picky professor ! Not a good professor at all ! Even though not too hard to get A but too tired to get through the class with a lot of hw and exercises. Be sure to spend a bunch of pleasure time for extra study to pass the class.
HARD CLASS! Teacher treats you like your stupid if you ask a question. Tests are your grade and are VERY DIFFICULT! When I asked about my grade I was told to average my tests! ALL other work is pointless to do. Attendance is MANDATORY if you want to even pass. Online work that is super confusing. DOES NOT SLOW DOWN LECTURES. PICKS FAVORITES
Decent Chemistry teacher. Explained things well, and tests were reasonable. 60% of grade comes from the tests (i averaged 90% on the 3 tests). Didn't seem knowledgeable of the material to the level I would expect, i.e. couldn't always answer my questions. MasteringChem is a pain, but there really isn't that much homework so i can't complain
Worst professor I have ever taken !!! I have no idea how someone can say his class is easy. I am good at science and still find this class hard. How about other who are not ? I have to say that never ever take him if you have chance to take Berg. Believe me ! Because I don't want any of you to fall into my footsteps
Class requires a lot of work. Have to really make time to study because his exams are unconventional. You'll get A in lab for sure. Practice all his sample problems and understand the concepts bec he will tests you on that. He is very helpful though but make sure to put some effort in class. STUDY, STUDY.
Very picky professor and not an easy class at all
very bad professor! He cant teach! Dont take him or he will make ur life hell! take berg!!!
This professor receives many complaints, but it is because the class is hard and that frustrates many students. He works hard to make sure that everyone understands the material, give him a break, he can't read minds. This class is A LOT of work, don't go into it thinking you will just get by no matter how smart you are. STUDY, there is no other way
I have taken many science classes and have never had a problem with chemistry. Mr.C doesn't really "teach" and expects you to learn from Mastering Chem, and the book. I would have definitely took Berg,if I could go back. I would study for hours for tests only to discover a majority of material on the test was never fully "taught" by teaching.
DROP.. is my only advice :(. He is a smart guy but literally a horrible professor. I am a biochem major and have never done this horrible in a class. I studied all the time and found the tests unfair and nothing is similar to homework. Also, it is pretty pathetic how disrespectful he is to the class. Ventura has great teachers!
Only the tests matter for grade and he uses trickery to deceive you like using double negatives. Worst professor I've ever had.
Put it this way on the first day of class he bragged about how many people would fail because his tests are so hard. What you receive on tests is your grade in class.
I had to work crazily hard more than ever just to get a B in his class. Can you believe it ? This is college level, please. Don't try to show how powerful you are over your students by asking them to solve problems you even can't affort if you were tested by chance. We are here not to compare how good we are over you !!!!
I do not understand how someone expected to teach students can have such poor language skills. His grammar is all over the place, his pronunciation of even the most basic words is rarely correct. He never uses plural nouns, so good luck deciphering the tests or any concept he attempts to explain. I beg you to drop before its too late.
If you study 24/7 and read the book, basically teach yourself, you might stand a chance. He has no compassion towards his student. It may be college, but he takes things to another level. It is simply ridiculous. Don't take him unless you are seriously going to dedicate all of your time to chem. Otherwise, good luck.
Students who don't want to put any effort and want an easy A in a chemistry class will definitely blame their teacher at the end of the semester. He was amazing teacher. Care for his students and will prepare for you for the finals.
His notes are the study guide. Practice mastering chemistry , quizzes and notes. He care for his students.
HORRIBLE. DOES NOT EXPLAIN ANYTHING. pretty much expects you to teach yourself at home before lecture. DO NOT TAKE
Does not explain anything. Does not help students. Pretends to know everything….doesn't know anything. Tests are extremely hard. Final is multiple choice and very hard, almost no one passes. No extra credit. Lecture notes do not help. If you take this class you basically have to teach your self Chem2. Good Luck!
His tests are weird, they test you on concepts he goes over in lecture that most ignore, and mastering chem helped a lot. He does pull some BS like throwing in an irrelevant value or testing you on something from lab. Ask him questions, show him you care, he'll hook it up in the end. Lab is a guaranteed A, print his lectures and memorize concepts.
great teacher.
Horrible professor to say the least. Take the class somewhere else. Some people just aren't made for teaching.
Bad professor avoid!!
Good teacher. It's chemistry, so it's going to be a little difficult but he tries to make it as easy and straight forward as he can. Make sure you review your note handouts before tests. He won't put anything on the test that isn't in the notes.
Loved him he was so easy. I don't really think he cares if you are there for lecture but lab is important. I got an A easily with little effort and it was fun.
Worst !
don't take him !!! Nightmare !
You have to put in effort to get a good grade, but if you attend classes you should definitely pass the class. I find him humorous and he can be sassy but we just laugh about it. Lectures go by pretty quick and I think he actually wants you to succeed. I don't know why he has such terrible reviews. His tests are pretty straightforward too.
Worst ever.
He's honestly not that bad. If you go to class and actually try, an A is easy. His tests are pretty much what he covers in lecture with some homework problems thrown in. Personally I think he is really funny and willing to help you if you're confused.
At first he seems sweet, don't fall for that. Don't bother asking questions in class, as he'll have another student answer them. The book will teach you much more than he ever will. He's a great teacher, if you took AP chem in high school or if you're a genius. I wish I'd listened at the beginning of the semester when everyone told me to drop him.
Prof. Crisostomo is by far the best chemistry teacher at moorpark college. I don't really like chemistry but at some point i really started liking that subject just because the way he teaches. I would recommend everyone to take his class if you are willing to work for an A.
If you're putting efforts then he's there to help. He wants you to succeed in his class. Lectures are very straight forward. Doing mastering helps a lot as Test are directly form mastering and his notes. I never touched the textbook to study for his test. Lab are straight to the point as well. He's really good. Recommended!!
He is a very good professor. His lectures are very interesting. he do home works online, which i like them a lot, they really help. He really wants all his students to get a good grade. He is always there for you and understand his students. first class he may seems a very hard professor, but he actually is not. i will take him for M01 B for sure.
You really have to work to survive that class
Don't take him if you're Filipino, but if you are, do your best to keep that from him. I've never come across a racist professor before, so this was a first. I was told that my passing of the class was at risk because I had to miss one lab day. Another friend of mine was threatened with a drop because she missed one lecture. He was okay otherwise.
He really really wants you to pass and he'll do all he can to make sure you do. He's a super chill grader and will give you full credit if your reasoning is correct but your numbers are wrong. Course is a lot of work so be willing to spend some time. Study his notes and you'll do well on the exams. He replaces slower quiz grades will the final quiz
Let me be clear: I knew this would not be an easy class. Chemistry is hard. However, Prof Crisostomo is rude to students, harps on them unexpectedly, and cannot even solve his own extra credit problems. If you want to actually learn and succeed in Chemistry, take another teacher. Otherwise, prepare for ridicule and sarcasm of whilst not learning.
Exams are tough, but manageable. I got an A in his class. His lectures are really good and is a good teacher. Really good about partial credit. Extra Credit Questions are very tough and not doable. I wouldn't bother doing them. Ask questions and go to his office hours. He is willing to help.
Prof. Crisostomo was an excellent professor. He really makes it obvious that he cares about the students and wants them to pass. His lectues are interesting because he makes us appreciate the concept he is teaching and funny because he cracks jokes often. Test questions come from lectures, notes, and online hw. Overall, I would take him again.
Dr Crisostomo is THE MAN! he has a PhD in chemistry and is extremely intelligent. His lectures are great, engaging, and he'll throw in a couple of jokes to get you laughing. Very honest and generous grader when applicable, half credit on tests is accepted and can help you 1 on 1 anytime you want. Take this guy for Chem you won't regret it. Greatguy
Amazing lecturer, can be passively aggressive sometimes but it's hardly noticeable. Willing to help all the time and go over the material again if you don't get it. Honors is a lot more work and takes time, so be prepared to put effort. Exams are mainly from his notes and the final is quite simple. The lowest exam is replaced by the 2nd lowest
Awesome professor. If you do your work and practice a lot you'll pass his class easily. This is class where you will have to study and be dedicated for. His lectures are fun and inspiring. He is good at explaining and is always available to help.
This was the best chemistry professor I have ever had! He really goes above and beyond for his students and is passionate about teaching. He is always willing to answer student questions and is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure a student understands a concept. Definitely recommend!!
This professor is definitely challenging but that's no excuse for your performance. You have to put your time in it, especially every day. Advice to future students, he hints what will be on the test, normally mastering chemistry, his notes or lab. You should pass this class, especially with the extra credit, homework, your attendance and project.
He is sassy and few people take that the wrong way. But other wise he is a good teacher tries to keep lecture up beat and fun. His test usually for the same pattern so if you can get someones old test DO IT.
Take Professor Crisostomo!!! I promise he is worth it! He is very approachable, kind, and helpful when it comes to explaining topics and understanding them. You will be so happy when you take his class and if you can, join the Honors because it's a great bonus, but it does take time! Honors is not a breeze and he will guide you step-by-step :-)
Professor Crisostomo is a nice guy. If your head is in it, you show up to all classes, you do all the online homeowork, and all the 'your turns' I think you should do well. That being said it's not an easy subject so be prepared to work for a good grade. Also, for extra practice I found it helpful to do examples and practice Q's from the text book
I wish I took him for chem 1a and for all chemistry classes. He is clear what he expects and he is also really funny. Very approachable and it truly is up to the student to put in the effort to ask the questions and visit him during office hours. He wants you to succeed and is always welcoming. I have never seen him discourage a student's question
Great professor. I rented a textbook for his 1A course and never touched it. Took him again for 1B and didn't even rent a textbook. Just come to class and pay attention and you should do well. He's very nice and is funny. Each exam had 10pts worth of extra credit and your second highest exam score will replace your lowest.
Great Professor. Fun but still taught the material well. Was open to questions and offered extra credit. Exams were somewhat difficult but felt like I was prepared well.
Prof Crisostomo was a great guy, however the lectures were a bit hard to follow and put into action so actually doing the homework and workshops was the best way to learn- however, he was always willing to help and explain things when you're stuck. Missing the labs was a big deal, but the labs are fun and he doesn't let you go until you get it!
A solid choice for Gen Chem at MC. He gives many extra credit opportunities, but this class is still a lot of work. 3 of his own "midterms", 1 ACS standardized final, and some quizzes along the way. He's a really funny guy and has made me really like Chemistry.
Professor V is definitely one of the more interactive professors I've had. He's very accommodating and he's willing to help you outside of class as long as you are too. It's a grueling course and the exams are rather hard but if you go over the workshops, class notes, and homework, you'll be set. He says "everybody will get the grade they deserve."
EVERYONE ENDS UP WITH THE GRADE THEY DESERVE. prove you actually care about your grade, study, SHOW UP, PARTICIPATE, and take advantage of every extra credit opportunity. he's a really nice guy and wants everyone to do well. even though it was difficult, i'd take him again. it was worth it and i actually learned
Amazing, awesome, and wonderful professor! You must study to succeed and do your best. Also, show up to lecture and labs. Labs are fun and challenging. He gives good feedback, very helpful, caring, and inspirational. I'd definitely choose him for my prof if I took this class again. I'd also recommend him for Intro Chemistry and General Chemistry 1.
I respect him so much and he made me want to do well in this class. There is a lot of online work, but it is all helpful. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, he really dedicates his life to helping his students. Don't underestimate studying for his test because he gets questions for all aspects of the class. Please take him, you won't regret it!
He is a tough teacher. He will kick you out of honors if you don't receive an A. You better be ready to study. He does allow you to make up tests to raise your grade by a letter so that is nice.
Professor Crisostomo is a really good teacher, he really cares about his students and wants to see everybody be successful. He tries to find ways to be able to help students be able to raise their grade up. While I will admit that he was not the easiest teacher, I would not mind taking him again because he really will find ways to help you out.
Crisostomo is one of the best teachers here at Mp. He is very helpful and nice so don't be afraid to ask any questions. Class was difficult but overtime you get a hang of it. Study as much as possible for tests. He made me really like chemistry and feel good about; its now my major. Definitely recommend taking him.
Dr. Crisostomo is one of my all-time favorite instructors. He's a warm and funny guy, who is expertly knowledgeable and an above-average communicator. People who put in zero effort love to hate him when they fail. Dr. Crisostomo is very reasonable with grades and will help you out, but not give you an undeserved mark. I am taking him for M01B.
I almost dropped this class because it was very overwhelming in the beginning. For people that haven't taken chem since high school, I recommended intro to chem first. He's a nice guy, but I think he teaches a lot more in depth than needed, making it hard. My advice is to stick it out tho, because it eventually gets easier and he has extra credit!
I found his lecture hard to understand. He is not very clear. He just reads off of his power points. Some of my classmates, some did not. His teaching style is just talking. The textbook is online. Do the homework it helps for the test
I love professor V! Chemistry is a difficult class, but he makes it very clear what he expects in lectures. Class is always funny and interesting.
Great professor! Made a difficult subject a little easier to understand. Says you "get the grade you deserve." He let our class do retakes of exams and he also replaces your lowest test grade with 2nd lowest. He gives you all the tools to be successful in the class. Do the workshops and "your turn" problems! ACS final was harder than his tests tho
Prof Vincent is one of the only good chem professors at MC. His teaching style wasnt my favorite so it was hard to get by the semester but ultimately at the end (meaning the final) helps with your grade. He may seem a little hard and uncaring at first but hes really only doing that to help. Hell warm up eventually. Overall, chem isnt my thing.
This Prof really knows his stuff. The material is dense and it is easy to get lost when class size is so large. You need to ask him questions or else he will assume you know what youre doing. Strict grading in lab, he makes sure you do all the work correctly. Hard work, hard final exam, but overall I learned a lot about chemistry and passed.
Professor Crisostomo is simply an amazing Chemistry teacher. He goes above and beyond to make sure you understand the material. His lecture notes are super organized and you don't even need the textbook if you take notes thoroughly. He is an amazing human being and is very friendly and easy to talk to. If you are an honors student, definitely take!
Crisostomo is legit! I was lucky enough to get off the waitlist to take his class. The professor knows his stuff and whenever you ask for clarification, he never hesitates to explain. Overall you gotta work hard to do well, but overall doesn't disappoint because he's good. Definitely recommend and would take again.
Warning taken online because of covid. The class is lecture heavy, be prepared to feel anxious & uncomfortable. He calls people at random, if called on expect no guidance felt like a roast not a teaching experience. labs long, exams hard, prof unreasonable. I'm not lazy either Ik work, taken calc and other stem classes tbh dont take if not needed.
I learned so much in Professor Crisostomo's class. This is a tough course but he prepares you well for exams, offers extra credit and is accessible if you need additional help. He is very knowledgable and it's apparent that he loves teaching and wants his students to succeed. I would highly recommend his class!
Gave up during the pandemic and made us watch 8+ hours of lectures a week. Good grade is possible but has trouble explaining questions, labs are easy As but had mandatory participation with cameras and will always call you out if you don't have cam and mic on. Makes you take exams with both on and is extremely distracting with so much audio.
If youre going to take anyones advice take mine. He will call on you on zoom and make you feel so dumb I legit gained anxiety from him. It makes me sad how if youre a THURSDAY lab student. U have to watch him teach Tuesday lab recordings instead of him teaching you. Even if u have a C,wait it out, the final project he gives everyone an A v helpf
Hands down one of the worst professors I've ever had at MC. He only cares about students who completely grasp ochem material, and leaves those behind who don't. His tests are extremely hard, and when he had a long term sub who filled in, it made it all the more confusing to stay on track. Take Ochem with literally ANYONE else!!
Took this class during Covid. 2 lectures a week (2-4 hours long), 1 lab (2-4 hours long). Online mastering and workshop every week. And quizzes every other week. And exams 3, 100pts. you dont have to learn cuz youll be catching up with assignments. A final project. If you have classes or a life this class isnt for you. And expected to study more
Chemistry can be fun if you're with Professor Vince. He is clear on expectations and really cares for his students. He wants all his students to do well. His examples and explanations are fun and easy.
Professor Crisostomo is awesome! He is very considerate and finds ways to accommodate his students. He really cares for his students. He gives lots of extra credit to help his class. I really think he tries to accommodate different types of students - he can make chemistry concepts clear, fun and easy to learn and gives plenty of examples.
Professor V makes this difficult chemistry class easy, manageable and clear. He sets up his students to do well. He gives extra credit to make for exams. He will kindly gives extension when you ask him. He is very available and usually answers calls and emails promptly. The finals is a project where he guides you to get 100%. I learned a lot!
Dr. Crisostomo is one of the best professor at Moorpark. Hands down very knowledgable and passionate professor. Subject is hard but he explains very well and really cares that you understand the topic.
Alright. You're probably scrolling through trying to find an easy chem class, and I'm going to be realistic with you. It's attainable. This class has homework, bolstering your grades. The tests and few pop quizzes are hard, but with an online textbook, group labs and recorded lectures, actually listening to Prof. Chrisostomo will get you far.
Super nice, very understanding and flexible. Attend class regularly and he will guide you to get an A. He allows for some corrections, extensions and lots of extra credit. He made chemistry easy and relevant. I definitely recommend Prof Vince!
Professor Vince overall is a professor I recommend. He's always willing to help and yes, there is a lot of homework due to it being a college STEM course, but it does help you out for exams. The only negative thing I had to say is that he forced us to watch recorded lectures for the last month which negatively impacted everyone. Do recommend.
Chem is a dense subject, but Professor Cristostomo will work every class to make sure all his students understand and are comfortable with the material being discussed. The labs were straight forward and doable as were his homework assignments. The workshops were long but very relevant for exams. Lots of opportunities to raise your grade
It was a pleasure to have Prof. Crisostomo for both M01A and M01B. It is important to pay attention in his lectures as he will rarely test you on something that he didn't cover in lecture. The tests are very challenging but fair. He is willing to work with you to make sure you get the grade you deserve.
Prof Vince Crisostomo is a very helpful and a very understanding teacher. He really cares for student needs and is very considerate when it comes to extensions due to valid reasons. He is a good teacher and is a good person. He wants students to succeed and he makes the chemistry topics fun and easy to learn.
Knowing I had Prof Vince's support helped me the most. He allows (within reason) late assignments and that was very helpful because we've all been struggling these past two semesters (pandemic). So it was nice to have an understanding professor who was very open to ensuring his students succeed.
Before I was ready to take his class, I was anxious about chemistry, as I always felt intimidated by it. But I have to say, he was very concise and organized with his material and lectures. And it was all relevant to homework and Exams. He's also very compassionate, he did his best to move me from his waitlist to his class. He absolutely cares.
Prof Vince is amazing! Great teaching skills and also offers plenty of extra credit. His lectures are interesting and he makes sure you learn the subject well. Offers office hours outside of his schedule and you can call him whenever you need a quick question answered. Chemistry was my least favorite subject until I took his class. 100% recommend!
He's a really good teacher. In order to do well in his class, you, of course, need to study a lot, however other than that it really isn't much work. Just show up for the labs and pay attention in class and you'll get at at least like a C. He also has a lot of office hours, so you can always ask him questions
This professor is so confusing. When it comes to class meetings you kind of have to figure it out on your own. He does not communicate effectively and is unclear on important dates.
Very difficult Chemistry class. With Enough effort, you will pull out an A. Be prepared to go to office hours. Tests are very hard.
Hes great at explaining material, but theres a lot of work (9 h worth every week) more if you dont understand parts of the material. Tests are brutal even as multiple choice. Took it during COVID, cameras on, he will put you on the spot, especially in lab. Youre going to want to be a full time student, I struggled doing both and other classes.
Tests are VERY HARD and impossible to pass. Goes fast in lectures + expects you to master the material right after its explained. Makes you feel bad for not knowing a topic. Be prepared to study and still fail the tests. Labs are the only manageable thing. Tough course. "Exam Reviews" consist of him starting a question leaving you to finish.
Prof Vince is very helpful and accommodating. I personally enjoyed his class mainly because I liked his teaching style its easy to understand and his handouts / notes help. He really cares for students. Lecture is not boring! Makes the material relatable- be ready to really learn. You will not regret taking his class.
Professor C is the reason why I started to really like science, so much that I switched my major. He inspired me. He gives bonus, he is very accessible, replies to emails, you can even call him any time (within reason)! You will not regret taking his class - you will really learn and have fun as well! He accommodates absences with valid reasons.
Professor Crisostomo's a really good and nice professor. His class has a final that's basically an easy 100 as long as you do the work. The midterms are very hard, but he gives 10 pts EC for each one. The lectures were decent, and they had a lot of good examples to study for on the test. The labs are pretty easy too.
The best thing I liked about Prof Vince is he is always encouraging students to do their best and gives one on one help with any situation or question you have. He is very considerate and accommodating.
awful. wish i would have taken the other prof teaching.. many ppl say that taking the other prof was best decision as he is a much better teacher, vinces tests are super hard and he does a horrible job teaching. save urself the headache. condescending & cringe sense of humor to top it off
His lectures are a mix of concepts and examples, and it is an accurate representation of problems you would see on any exam. At times, the way he responds to students seems a bit condescending, but I had an overall positive experience in this class. He offers a good amount of extra credit and makes it easy to get 100% on the final exam project.
This professor is amazing. Just pay attention in class, take good notes and try during the labs. This will amount to an easy A.
He expects you to know everything. He definitely favors students too. Expect a lot of things due at the same time. His tests are extremely hard. Expect to study hard and still fail his exams. Not recommended if you actually want to learn the material and are bio students that want to succeed.
I really love Crisostomo. He really wants his students to succeed. His teaching style is not my favorite since his show of work is a little messy and scattered on slides so you have to do some outside studying to make it make sense to you. His extra credit and final project (most get 100%) helped raise my grade a whole letter grade though!
I had Prof Vince for two semesters and really enjoyed the first one. The second is a lot harder but I still enjoy him as a professor and a have a solid time learning in his class.
Hard class but good teaching.
Plenty of extra credit opportunity take advantage of it. Always there to help you, plenty of office hours and you can call him for questions. Lots of homework but easy to manage. Tests are pretty hard, there were four total, but he makes topics clear and understandable just do your part. Would definitely take his courses.
Prof Crisostomo is amazing! He will really help you learn the material in a manageable way. His tests are fair. Even though the class itself is hard - he made it easy to grasp. I can tell he really cares for his students success. The extra credit opportunity is a BIG BIG bonus!
Prof Vince is a great professor. Chemistry is hard but he makes it interesting and easy to understand. One thing I like about him is the option to attend lecture via zoom or in-person. In person is great of course but the option to zoom for lecture is also nice - plus his zoom lectures are equally engaging. His extra credit assignments are awesome!
Prof Vince is a caring and amazing prof. I never got bored in his lectures. He gives you an option to attend lec via zoom or in-person (labs are always in-person). I had him both for 1A and 1B. Learned a lot and my chem found'n is solid! Very considerate when it comes to fam and work emergencies. He gives bonus! Have fun!
Prof Vince is amazing! Had him for 1A & 1B. He is a caring professor & wants you to succeed. 1B is quite hard but he explains it well. His lectures are intriguing! He has a 10-point EC that goes towards exams. Tests are difficult. He does expect you to know a lot from 1A, he will bring up those concepts & their exact chapters.
Chem is an extremely hard subject. That being said. Prof. Vince was amazing. Explains that material better than any professor I've had. It's still a difficult course nonetheless. EC helped a lot. Tests were somewhat hard. Just study and practice and you'll be good. Not a lot of hw and it was relatively easy. Same with labs. Highly recommend!
Professor Vince is always open to answering any questions that students have, which I really appreciate. He understands students needs to ask lots of questions (even if they are super basic). He is also very approachable.
Before each days lecture, try to finish the homework and review the powerpoints IN THAT ORDER. The homework is pretty easy points, and you will be awarded MORE points for viewing hints. His tests are HARD, but final exam is easier. Ask questions, don't be ashamed of not remembering 1A concepts. He's super kind and wants you to succeed.
He rushes through lectures & expects students to master topics in a flash. He does not take time for clarification or review which he solely leaves up to course embedded tutor to do. His labs consist of assigning busy work then taking off for the period. Prepare to always be confused and to teach yourself. Extremely disappointing.
Pros: Extra credit options, has zoom lecture option, provides lecture handouts for easier note-taking, accessible outside class. Cons: Flies through topics, relies on tutor/textbook to explain material, sort of unapproachable, very difficult exams, very fast paced, long intense lectures, leaves during lab. Prepare to teach yourself the material.
Professor Cristostomo is a very caring teacher and happy to help students. His lectures are easy to follow and go at a slow pace. His exams are multiple choice and the questions are worded confusingly, but if you study its easy to get an A on them. He also offers extra credit after each exam. The labs are quick and graded on participation.
Easy labs and lots of office hours to ask questions. Start studying a few weeks before the exams, do the homework and workshops and the bonus assignments for extra credit and you will find this class easy. If you don't like him it's because you probably didn't put a lot of effort. As he says: you will get the grade you deserve. :p
As someone that has loved science all through school thus far, this class wasn't great. If you don't have a science background, I can see how you'd fall behind. Many of my classmates were ALWAYS confused and the professor just leaves you behind. He speaks in metaphors in his lectures which is quite confusing. Always left during labs.
Prof Vince was sassy in a bad way. When asking questions, he would make you feel dumb or ignore you all together. He knew the concepts very well and was good in lecture, just not good at answering Qs. Tests were really hard and worth a lot, labs were easy as long as you showed up. I'd avoid him if you can
Awful experience, had to drop the class. Teaches assuming everyone has already seen the material before which is horrible, he's not good at explaining & uses metaphors for everything which makes it more confusing. Calls on random people to participate. The tests are huge and very difficult. Labs are relatively easy. Has a zoom option for lectures.
Exams are the most difficult and defining part of your grade. It is a trend in his class to study hard and still fail exams. He gets sidetracked a lot, which makes his lectures very hard to keep up with and he still expects you to master alot of the material. Assignments/quizzes/labs are no issue, but there is no redemption for failing hard exams
Prof. Vince is a great guy. Funny, but extremely particular. He shows you how to solve a problem one way in lectures, then expects you to answer extremely hard questions on exams that he did not cover at all. Acts as if his class is more important than any others, so he expects your full devotion. DO NOT take this class with another STEM course.
Prof Vince is one of the best professors at Moorpark. He is patient and very considerate. I read all the recent comments here and I disagree with them. U have to put in the work - it's a 5 credit chemistry class! He's fair gives LOTS LOTS of extra credit opportunity. You will do very well in CHEM M01B if you take him for CHEM M01A. No regrets!
dude seems perfectly chill outside of class but jeez his exams are unnecessarily hard. wish there was something else that could balance the difficulty. grateful for extra credit but didn't make much of a difference for some people
Good guy, but his tests were always so difficult for no reason, never similar to what was reviewed in lecture or in the homework, that's why he offers extra credit opportunities but in some cases they wouldn't even help if you did that poorly on his tests, but if he's your only option, just do 100% in every other category and you'll pull through.
He cares about students success. The course is hard but he explains very well. The test questions were mostly from his lecture and homework. If you study and attend all labs and do all homework, you can easily pass this class. His extra credit really helps! Made a challenging course fun and doable - I always look forward to going to class!
This was such a hard class and I felt like Professor Vincent didn't really help and tended to be condescending when you asked a question. Be prepared to study A LOT. There is a lot of extra credit, so do it because that's the only thing that saved my grade. Go to every lab, do your homework, and extra credit and you can pass but it is hard.
He made it difficult for what is to be claimed as a "General Chemistry" course. The homework and test relevancy was close to none. The averages were always terrible (D or below) to the point that the extra credit does nothing for your grade. He makes you feel incompetent for not understanding the material. Focus on hw, labs and bonuses to keep up.
There are about 3-4 tests in the whole semester and they are extremely hard, especially if this is your first time ever taking chemistry. He does not give any study guides, but just says that everything covered in lecture is fair game. He gives extra credit, but it doesn't help because the average for his tests are usually in the C-D range.
This is a hard class but Prof Vince made it enjoyable. You will really learn from him and he will prepare you well for tests. The tests were hard - BUT IT's CHEMISTRY - this is challenging - have to accept that! That is why Prof Vince is the best instructor for me - he really helped me understand topics. Very considerate and always communicates.
Learned a lot. I will miss his lectures! Best teacher I have had! Very caring and wants his students to succeed. Its a tough course, lots of work but he made it fun and manageable.
The class is not difficult in regards to homework, labs, the only reason I got a B was due to getting 100's in all those categories except the tests. 3/4 tests were made by him, all averaging a C or below, by the third test he was surprised the mean was in the 50's and refused to take blame. Final was easy cause it wasn't written by him.
CHEM M01B is considerably way harder than 1A in terms of topics but Professor Vince is a great professor to have for a subject as hard as Chemistry and wants his students to succeed. His tests are also challenging but the final is way easier. As long as you stay focused and consistent in practicing the skills you are learning you will be fine.
Here's how his Chem M01B class works- Do extra credit, attend all labs, do the homework and you will pass I have never passed any of his 3 tests in this course (50-65%) but I did everything else and got a B Tests are hard (the averages for all 3 were failing grades) but he has lots of places for points (each test has a bonus worth 10 points EC)
Much harder than M01A w/ Crisostomo, but if you make sure he knows who you are (camera on during Zoom, participating) he will be more than fair with your final grade. Do well on homework, labs, extra credit. He knows his class is hard, make sure you try your hardest and practice often (the Your Turn problems in his notes are very helpful).
This class isn't to be underestimated. As a premed student tho, getting an A was achievable. The homework helps a lot, but reviewing his extra "your-turn" questions, lab questions, and some end-of-chapter questions will secure you a good grade. He offers 10% extra credit for each exam, and can replace your lowest exam score (by his own discretion).
Online class included incredible pre-recorded lectures. Super thorough and clear with what was required for the exams. The actual exams were challenging, but never unfair. Homework was a bit annoying at times, but these questions were from Pearson and not him directly. Highly recommend you take this course.
This class was -awesome-. Expect to need to pay attention and do the work. Exams are very tough but are balanced by ample extra credit opportunity and relatively low weight compared to most classes. Super direct and concise feedback without sugar coating, and a lecture style that always left my face muscles sore from smiling after class.
Professor Vince's CHEM1B is tough, but worth it. His lectures are engaging and he genuinely cares about students succeeding. Be prepared to work hard - do the homework, attend labs, and utilize tools like unstuck AI for extra practice. With effort, you can pass this challenging course.
Professor Crisostomo is a great professor. The class is tough because the materials are tough but he truly wants all his students to do well. He gives you his phone number to call whenever you are stuck on a problem or have a question. There is weekly homework, quizzes and 3 tests plus a final. The tests are very challenging.
Prof. Crisostomo has been one of my favorite professors at Moorpark. He's pretty funny, and his lectures are relatively easy to follow. The exams are quite difficult, but he provides plenty of extra credit which you should definitely do. The labs aren't hard, and go by fast. There is weekly homework on Pearson, with an occasional quiz.
I am not sure why he is not graded higher. I think he is one of the best Chemistry teachers at Moorpark. He is good at explaining things without making it boring. He cares so much about each student and truly does everything to help you get the grade you want. Obviously, Gen Chem is a tough class, so you just need to apply yourself.
He's my favorite chemistry professor throughout my entire life, and that's saying something. General chem 1 was an easier course and the tests were more understandable, however this semester it suddenly changed. The exams became more rigirous and our class average was a 52%. However he does offer bonus credit, but the exams are just way too hard.
Professors class was informative and he was extremely caring and taught well. Tests are very difficult but he does give out extra credit to help with your grade. Make sure to really go over all materials, otherwise you won't pass this class.
Don't take this teacher if you can avoid him, he's honestly a nice guy but his tests are absolutely awful and there's no good way to study for them. The final was one of the worst I've ever taken and people walked out crying (no joke). Overall I don't feel prepared for ochem and I wouldn't recommend this teacher
I do not usually leave rate my professor reviews, but I had to for Professor Crisostomo. He genuinely cares about the material and is a very interesting guy. As long as you do all the extra credit, and genuinely study the material outside of class with a good amount of practice, there is no reason not get an A or B.
Crisostomo is super lively and is super kind and understanding about students' circumstances. Labs are fun and he makes sure that you understand what your submitting when giving you credit. Exams are super difficult but the extra credit option is super helpful to keep a passing grade. Would take again
I had Professor Crisostomo for Chem M01A and M01B, BEST PROFESSOR EVER! Im truly so glad I took him for chemistry because he is such a caring teacher and is literally the best. THE EXAMS ARE VERY HARD, but as long as you study you will be fine. There are bonus questions after the exam that help your grade a lot. The final is really easy. TAKE HIM!!
You can get an A in this class, but it's one you have to work for. He is intimidating, but if you demonstrate a desire to learn and dedication to the coursework, he's friendlier. Exam bonuses are a MUST; they will save your grade! The key to good exam scores is thorough notes and studying EVERY practiced skill and important fact! 2 study days min.
prof. crisostomo is a very intelligent teacher, but it was difficult for me to grasp the concepts because of the way he explained them. this was the first ever c i've gotten in a class, and not doing the extra credit he gives was my DOWNFALL. if you do the extra credit and start studying for his exams a week in advance, you should be fine.
Professor Vince was probably the hardest yet best professor I have ever had. He REALLY wants you to succeed in the class and will help you along the way. Exams are super difficult, but there is always extra credit. Just try your best and you'll do well.
Vincent Crisostomo is an amazing proffessor and extremely entertaining. If you have questions he will take the time to answer them in detail. Would take his class again if I could.
The professor gives you a good amount of extra credit for each test which you should definitely do. The tests are straight forward and questions are similar to the problems he goes over in lecture . He often goes off topic and talks quite a bit. A 40 min. lecture video is 20 min of irrelevent talking. Labs are somewhat easy and go by fast.
Be ready to have to teach your self. This class i would never take again. He gets annoyed sometimes when you don't understand and many students in my class had a average of 50's on test
Picks on people and will stare at you depending on who you are. Tests are extremely hard and will take so many hours to study for just for him to not put that material on the test. Test is basically worth the whole grade in the class. Good luck.
His lectures are really long and he tends to get off topic sometimes. The class is easy enough to pass, but to actually get an A is more difficult. There was an online book and homework you have to purchase. The grade itself is made up of exams but also homework and labs. Stay on top of the work and passing is simple enough.
Professor was super nice and understanding. His lectures are long but helpful, but his exams were super hard. Although to make up for it, he gives a great extra credit option for each test which you should definitely do. You will need to study, a LOT.
