Really nice guy and easy to talk to, also pretty young for a prof. For a first year prof he is very well organized and extremely helpful..he's marking is fair
He is an awsome prof who really works hard to help his students. He provides helpful examples...and tries to joke with class to make dry legal research methods remotely interesting...he is very young for a prof but seems to care for students and their success...if you email him expect to get a response really quickly. REALLY nice guy...
Very boring material, but the prof makes it bearable. Extremely nice, approachable, and helpful, I look forward to seeing him around in teh future!
The course had high potential to be the most dull course ever, but he made it seem somewhat interesting. Very helpful, he likes to joke around with students too.
Very helpful and very intelligent. He makes the most of course material and cares about his students.
amazing prof. very approachable wants you to do well in the course. The kind of prof that would like to get to know you as a person, not just a student. Responds to emails usually within the hour. Very well rounded in terms of character that a prof should have, dont expect him to throw you a few marks just b/c he likes you, very fair in marking
He's a fantasitic prof who really cares about his students. He is also hilarious. I never wanted to miss a class. He is very fair and reasonable too.
Good prof, funny guy, cares about his students. Tries to explain things thoroughly which can be rough sometimes if you already grasp it well but has good job experience to relate and work into his lectures.
so hilarious. and gorgeous.
Vince turns dry material interesting with his animated and engaging personality. He is always eager to help those with questions, albeit sometimes a little TOO eager as constant clarification for those who cannot grasp concepts lets the class get distracted and material doesn't always get covered. Overall, however, he inspired me to minor in law.
AMAZING professor! So fun and helpful.. a joy!
AMAZINGGG PROF!! the best one I have had at Carleton so far in my 3 years. He's extremely helpful, and wants you to do well on his exams and assignments! All around good guy, take a class with him if you can!!!
Very, very talkative and amusing. Breaks in classes include Monty Python.
Talks too much about things that dont matter, which is unfortunate because that doesnt help with your grade. Not very clear in what he is looking for in the assignments better talk to him separately so you do fine. Is willing to be helpful and uses his email frequently. 2 textbooks and a coursepack..one of those was actually used the mcgill guide.
Vince is a great prof. Interesting lectures and he is very helpful if you go and see him. His marking is fair but you need to know your stuff. He appears sort of strange to begin with but he is hilarious. (raps and dances in class)
Really clear in getting the material across! Seems to care about getting the info to the students rather than rushing through the lecture- which is REALLY helpful on the exam!! Asks for feedback half way through the semester, not at the end, so he can help the students out if they need it...Great prof all around... extremely knowledable in all asp
A truly great law professor. Was truly passionate about what he was teaching and that was contagious. Always tried to keep people interested. Grading wasn't too rough.
He is a fantastic professor. Very entertaining, but also explains in a very easy to understand way, often using examples that relate to everyday life (mostly funny examples). Get ready to have fun, but also to enjoy learning the basics of the Canadian legal system
If you are interested in the subjects he teaches, take his classes! He has a passion for the law and the topics he instructs. All of the complaints I have heard about his class are from people who didn't like the subject of, for example, public law.
Can't say enough good things. Don't be shy to approach him.. even just to say hello. Great prof, more importantly, great guy.
amazing prof! relates all the material back to examples that are easy to understand. he even rapped for us the last class of the year which was awesome.
Makes the class the fun. Great experience. Very knowledgeable
LOVE him. He's the kind of prof you actually WANT to listen to, very enthusiastic and interactive. He also has a good sense a humor haha.
AMAZING PROF! i dreaded taking law but because of him, i switched my major. he's so easy to understand and has a great personality!
Professor K is a great teacher...He is my favorite professor at Carleton throughout my 2 years...I wish him all the best
Prof. K.'s enthusiasm for law is incredible. He is so into it, you can't help but be drawn in. Approachable and knowledgeable, AND he gives a 10 minute break in between the 2 hour lecture, usually a YouTube clip or something that "let's us in." Remember to listen to the voice . . . his voice, that is. Pay attention. The voice will lead you home.
An amazing prof. Really good teacher, also really funny. Not to hard, but you have to go to class or atleast PASS. Finised the year wit an awesome rap!
Professor K Rocks! MUST attend all lectures in order to get a good mark but don't sweat it because he makes his lectures fun. If you study from your notes and read the articles discussed in the tutorials you're guaranteed an A! Funny too made me lol!
This guy is such a fantastic professor! He is in a lecture hall with 400 students, and yet I still was able to feel a connection to what he taught. He was not a distant, vague person just throwing words out of his mouth. He really cares for his students, take the time to get to know him, TAKE THIS CLASS!!
Nice guy, makes the class fun. Only problem is he talks way too fast, doesn't usually repeat his examples, and no slides. For a second course it would be great, but not a first year.
Prof K. loves what he does and you can feel every time you attend one of his lectures!
HE IS AWESOME! To be honest, because of Professor K, I took on a new interest interest in law. He's funny, interesting, and cuts to the point. Make sure you take good notes, and READ THE CASE BOOK his tests are fair if you study. I'm kind of sad that he only teaches first year courses though. But honestly, he's the best prof for the job!
Awesome professor, he's really funny and made the class fun. He made my 8:30am class worth coming to. It's too bad he only teaches first year law. Take his course!
Great Prof. Line up early to register for his course.
Great Prof.
Awesome prof. He is the reason why I decided to have an interest in law. He's funny and he tries to relate to us so he's totally worth it. He was probably the only prof who could get me to class on a Monday morning. Take him if you can, and you most definitely will not regret it
Great Proff. Best class ever!!!Gives hints for the exam!!make sure to take good notes!!
He's a pretty cool professor. He shows lots a clips during class since he knows it's hard to stay focused for a whole two hours. Be prepared for a lot of Monty Python...He gives a lot of examples and explains things really well. To be honest, I never read the textbook, but I went to every class and I ended up with a B. He definitely made law fun.
Great Teacher! My favourite teacher to date. Makes law fun- in order to do well, take good notes. Exam is multiple choice but gives you tips and sample questions to review!
I was rather mislead by all of the positive comments. I have found his legal research class to be overwhelming and at points rather confusing. He's a nice guy but should not be in charge of a mandatory class. Work yourself to the bone to get a B, attending every class is moot in this case.
Honestly would not have given law a second look without his class, but he converted some of my friends from COMP to LAW and I am now pursuing a Law minor. Some of his lectures can be a little dry, but hey, given the course material, he does an amazing job. Was nominated for a teaching award the year I had him (And honestly should have received it)
One class is all it took me to realize I am going to have an amazing semester with this professor. He makes the material enjoyable when it seems dry. What other professor would make the following joke: "I wish I dressed like Lady Gaga. I can. I have tenure... Maybe not..." Definitely looking forward to his class.
Very good professor, always organized. Speaks very clearly as well. Every long lecture he would show something funny during break. Dude's a fan of Jersey Shore and is an eye candy for the ladies. Just don't make him grow his 'stache.
A god among mere mortal teachers. Loves pythons, Monty Python that is... He can express his legal thoughts and teaching experiences in hip-hop form. Nuff said.
Great professor! One of my favorites in first year. Make sure you fit his class in to your schedule, you will not regret it.
Prof K is amazing!
He was paired up with Brettel Dawson to teach this class. They chose to focus the course around same sex marriage in Canada, and this was interesting. the assignments were tedious and time consuming but if you work hard you will see good results. I would recommend taking this class with him. He is funny and nice but can be arrogant/mean over email.
Amazing prof! He is very clear, and answers everyones questions. Stops to make sure you are all on the same page. The exam was okay, you have to keep up with all your readings or else you'll fall behind.
This man is awesome! He can make a really boring topic seem interesting! Tells a lot of funny, relevant jokes and stories, and he always makes sure his students understand whats going on. Slides are very clear, he is just an overall quality professor! Highly recommended!
Best prof ever
Very good prof. Class can be difficult if class is not attended. If you go to class, keep on readings, and take good notes you will do fine. Assignments are easy enough and the t.a.'s seemed lenient with their marking. Overall amazing prof. very funny and keeps you amused throughout the lecture which can drag at times.Rapped for us during last clas
Very funny prof who loved rap. Plays interesting videos during break. Do the readings and make sure you go to the tutorials for easy mark and help with assignments. Papers were really easy and straightforward. Multiple choice exams were too as long as you know the material. Likes to give out freebies. Fave prof so far.
Amazing professor. If he is teaching a class you want to take or have to take, make sure he is your prof!! He is funny, crystal clear when it comes to the lectures, and will answer your questions to the fullest. Also, we watched a lot of rap videos and Monty Python during breaks! :D
Extremely Awesome Professor, Cool, Collected, Intelligent, extremely helpful and approachable. The Best Professor in Carleton University
I had Profesor K in my first year. I was very nervous about taking law as I had heard it was challenging. Prof K made it an amazing experience. I would recomend him to anybody. The best prof at Carleton!!
I can't say much about his teaching because I unfortunately don't know, but outside of class he's more than just a professor. He's someone who really cares about students and their well-being.
Amazing prof. The class itself was difficult and required a lot of small work, there were quizzes most weeks 2 major assignments and two tutorial prep exercises. Kazmierski has excellent lectures, you can get a lot of easy marks in his class the tutorial prep exercises u just have to do hem and u get 6% easy. WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HIM!!!
Amazing Prof! Goes the full 3hrs but its interesting and he engages alot. A lot of group discussions, but theyre pretty easy. The work and assignments aren't the easiest. Attendance 15%, Journal entries 20% (very easy), Project proposal 10%, Proj Presentation 10%, Final 35%, Def recommend him!! Easy to talk to and very helpful.
In his laws 1000 course reading is obviously essential. However no tests, mid term and final exam was all multiple choice, no tests, fair amount of assignments. Assignments have an upper word limit as you go on.
Most entertaining prof I've ever had. I truly enjoy his class!! He knows his material quite well and gives a lot of examples to further explain the material. I will definitely recommend him to everyone who wants to go into law!
Great prof, makes boring concepts interesting.
A funny, nice guy, and a great lecturer. I didn't end up liking Law very much, but I survived the course due to Kazmierski's great lectures - he picked out really interesting case studies for the readings + lecture material. Readings are killer on the academic articles, super interesting in the court cases. He often gives out "freebie" marks.
Halfway through the course atm, don't like law much, but the prof clearly cares about his students and enjoys his job. Very open to answering questions from students and asking us questions for interaction - tries his best to keep people from falling asleep, and is fairly successful. Interesting articles chosen for readings. Currently getting A's.
VK is a wonderful man & professor. Knowledgeable, approachable & eager to help students succeed. 4904: Reading is heavy & he does rely on students to come prepared and participate. Journal entires were engaging, final paper was tough BUT the topic is up to you. He gives very thorough instruction/feedback. Enlightening & enjoyable course overall!
AMAzing professor. Would 100% recommend to any 1st years takin LAWS 1000!
He's genuinely an amazing prof, and he's really funny to listen to. Just make sure to actually go to class! Everything is important.
Professor Kazmierski is one of the best professors you can have in Carleton University. He is an excellent introduction to Canadian Law because his assignments/tests are fair, his lectures are easy to follow, and he brings in an element of fun into the lecture hall that many other professors tend to ignore.
One of the best profs at Carleton! No one has ever had a bad experience with him. He is very approachable and is very helpful when it comes to term papers. He marks fair, but you have to participate in class to get a great mark. Do the readings and you'll be fine. 10 out of 10 I would take a class with him again! If only I could!
Makes learning lecture material fun and memorable. Showing up to class and taking notes will guarantee success, understanding of readings is important too but you can get by without reading every word. Paper topics were interesting and graded fairly (for the most part). Would recommend to all first year students.
Hands down my favourite class for my first year. Vincent is an amazing prof! He's absolutely hilarious and makes the lectures so interesting. He makes it his goal to make sure that the transition from high school to university is as smooth as possible. I can't think of one negative thing to say about his class. Super cool guy! Thanks for a cool yr!
Great prof if you go to class and focus on the lecture material. He posts his slides and is easy to understand. Assignments are heavy but he gives you all the material you need and guides you through. Did not do any of his readings and still did good, do not buy the two textbooks endless you know you'll read them. (small black one isn't necessary).
Three years ago I was stepping into what I only thought was a law elective credit doing an engineering program I couldn't care any less about. Today I'm on my way to graduating with a law major. Thanks to professor K, he inspired me and showed us how intricate and interesting law actually is; for once I never wanted to miss a professors lecture
Hes the best! Made dry methods into something memorable! Super approachable and hilarious so you will re watch the vod before the final assignment. Will help you piece together the theory and practicality too of consititional law. Wish he taught more at the graduate level but a gem for intro to laws and methods.
Truly just phenomenal. I don't even know where to start. His lectures can be like a performance he runs around and stands on the podium and is just so passionate. The course content was awesome and he made the driest parts exciting. Just a wonderful professor all around. Super awesome course. I cannot recommend him enough.
Loved this prof! His lectures were always entertaining and it's clear how passionate he was. He had really bad jokes, but they always made my mornings because I would laugh that much harder. The class wasn't difficult if you pay attention to concepts and put in the effort. Would 10/10 take another class with him.
Professor Kazmierski aka Professor K is by far one thee best law professors at Carleton. He speaks to you with respect and is super down to earth. He worked for the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court of Canada. His passion for teaching shows in his lectures. Clear instructions and will help you if you reach out.
Hilarious and super engaging teacher. All his lectures were super memorable, and he's upbeat and cheerful. Go to his last lecture; you won't regret it. I hope I get him again soon. He's easily one of the best professors at Carleton!
I really liked this class. You have to attend every lecture and do all the readings if you want to pass. Prof K is hilarious and super sweet. Would definitely recommend as long as you're ready to put in the work.
I had Prof K, and I'm happy I did. Despite the challenging and heavy nature of the law material, I thought Prof. K did a fantastic job of breaking down these complex legal concepts. Attending every lecture is recommended if you want to succeed because he provides all of the exam tips in class. 100% recommend him. Also was lenient w/ extensions
Easy class as long as you attend lectures and tutorials, asking questions in your tutorials will really help you understand material as well. Look out for things he is constantly repeating in class or putting emphasis on as those are the important topics that will be on the exam. Definitely would try and find other classes he teaches to take again!
Hands down AN AMAZING PROF! He's super passionate about what he teaches, super clear and concise as well. He even hints at important things that will be on exams during lectures so make sure you're paying attention. He's very knowledgable and such a respectable and kind individual, I would love to have him again in the future!
Professor K is amazing! He is good at explaining everything and doesn't overcomplicate things, he makes legal concepts easy to understand. The only thing that I didn't really like (and I say this lightly) is that his lectures were heavy. If you doze off or miss a class, you'll be a bit in a bit of a pickle but apart from that amazing prof
One of those precious people you'll absolutely love and willnever forget. Take his courses!!
Kazmierski is such a star! Law is very dense, but he did a great job making it a lot more digestible. To get a good grade, you need to do the readings, go to the lectures, and the tutorials---a lot of what he covers in class is not included on the slides he posts. But he is very fair, and he does not trick you. He is also a very engaging lecturer!
The lectures were heavy with material, but you'll honestly see that in LAWS1001, no matter what professor you have. I loved his class; he was really engaging and dropped a lot of hints on what would be on the exam. You won't regret it.
He's a good prof and all, but his material and slides were too messy and lectures were all over the place for how heavy the content was. Wish there was better organization and better tools for studying.
Very nice person but his material/slides were pretty unorganized for how heavy the material is. If you don't have an auditory learning style/miss a class this course will be very hard. Assignments graded very fairly though. Lots of material to learn for exams which were in person (other profs had online), so do well on assignments.
What a great professor!!! Professor K knows how to make challenging & dull topics interesting & engaging. His class is very useful. His assignments and the way he structures the discussion groups work in teaching you the basic skills of how to read cases as well as writing and analyzing case briefs. Great class overall!
Literally my favourite law prof. He is so nice and so funny and you can tell her actually cares about his students. He puts cases on his exams but the main ones he talks about in clss so just pay attention to what he says and write it down. Attend class and take notes and you will pass no problem. He even made a rap song for the final
He is a very fair professor! One of fairest and best ever. He gets all your attention and gives his best so you learn the most from his classes, sometimes in entertaining ways. His classes are heavy with readings and he is not tech savvy but definitely recommended. Thank you Prof K for being who you are.
Prof K is the best professor I have had by far. He is very genuine and gives you alot of hints of what is on the exam or the quiz. The assingments are fair and gives you alot of time for them. I recommend attending all the tutorials, its free marks and they help ALOT on the assignments. Be prepared the read the text book but amazing class!
Amazing lectures but requires you to take good notes which I didn't really mind as lectures were engaging even at 8am. Final exam was pretty simple and straightforward and he gave hints for exam. Prof cares about his students and is hilarious. However, my mark struggled as TA's mark very strictly on assignments (first assignment average was a 68%).
Prof K is such an amazing professor and truly cares about the success of his students. His lectures were very engaging and he explained concepts very clearly. I strongly recommend taking one of his courses!
Prof K was an amazing prof! I never wanted to miss a lecture. Cares about his students success and is very approachable when you need help. Readings are a little overwhelming as they're quite law jargon heavy, but he goes over it in the following lectures. In order to succeed you need to take good notes and attend lectures. TA's marked fairly imo.
This is by far the best professor I've ever had. He is so nice, caring, and incredibly engaging. He cares so much about his students and about law in general. The course could have used more things to be graded on like weekly assignments to help with retaining the heavy content. Go to the lectures, if you don't you will not pass.
Vincent Kazmierski is one of the best profs at Carleton. He is very friendly and easy to follow. The course itself is fairly easy and readings are optional. When studying, focus on what he says in the lecture - not what is on the slides. What he says is paramount to doing well on exams. Overall, very cool prof, easy course, and engaging lectures.
Prof Kazmierski is a super nice guy and really easy to talk to, he knows and is very passionate about his subject, and his content is easy to understand. An amazing prof, would definitely take again
He is such a good professor. Choose his class if you have the option to. Even though it's early, I never dreaded coming to this class. He made me want to pursue my interest in law further. Explains concepts that are generally tougher to grasp in very efficient ways. By far my favourite professor.
10/10 lectures! Super engaging professor who loves his job. Cares for his students. Would recommend!
Super caring, interested and upbeat prof! Even though the class is early in the morning, he rewards class presence with hints for exams and quiz which has been helpful so far. The readings are important for the exam and midterm so at least revise the summaries. Class presence is pretty much essential bc he adds important info not included on slides
Amazing Professor! 100% would recommend to learn about Law.
Prof K is an outstanding professor. He explains all of the readings during his lecture and makes class fun. This class was on monday at 8:30 and the class was always full. He is a great lecturer. The exam was very easy if you studied. Make sure to do the readings and attend class. Assignments were pretty easy, but you have to put in the effort.
I promise you he is literally the best laws prof you will ever have. The fact that i actually showed up every lecture AT 8 AM goes to show how amazing he was (Im not a morning person AT all). Its also very important to go to lectures cause he explains concepts in such amazing detail which makes it so much easier to understand.
He'll answer all of your questions during class. He is also very accommodating to students with disabilities. The lectures do not have mandatory attendance, but they are extremely useful. If you don't go to the lectures, you won't do well in the course. It's not that bad though, since they are very entertaining.
Amazing Prof. Very Passionate about what he teaches. Lectures were at 8:35 Monday morning, and I still was excited to go. You are only graded on 5 things (2 papers, Mid, Final, Attendance) but he gives lots of time to get you work complete, and he explains what to review for final. I would 100% take a course of his, even if your major isn't law.
He truly loves what he teaches and it shows. So engaging and caring, especially for an 8:30am lecture on a Monday. The midterm and exam are tough but he gives lots of hints in his lectures so make sure you attend! Assignments were easy but grading depends on your TA. 10/10 would absolutely take again!
Professor K is an amazing professor who clearly cares for his students success. He's hilarious and can somehow make a gloomy, winter 8 AM class enjoyable. Assignments are clear but slides aren't detailed so your lecture notes are important!! I would definitely recommend his course!
