Prof. Quan is the best! You DEFINITELY want to do whatever it takes to get in one of his classes. Atleast half of our class got internships or jobs through him. He is a teacher to the core, and takes his job beyond the classroom. He'll help you with your resume and job search, and is willing to call contacts on your behalf. He's the best in FM
prof quan was a great professor, but a very tough grader. he's also a total geek but he's a really nice guy and likes to get everyone participating.
Prof Quan is awesome. He is ery helpful in the classroom as well as helpful in getting a job. You're ery lucky if you get him.
this is a very hard class with a lot of work, but its a requirement and there is no getting out of it. he is very helpful with finding jobs

Best teacher ever! Do whatever it takes to get into his class cuz he's awesome. He goes off on tangents sometimes but he teachers you what you need to know, and doesn't throw in any crap you don't need. He teaches about the real world, and doesn't keep you in class for longer than he needs to.
Best professor i have had in my life in business. He explains everything clearly, helps his students if they ask. A lot to remember, but he reviews most of what will be on the exams.
He is a wonderful teacher. Best I ever had in FIT. He really knows his stuff, ALL notes are on Power point and he gives time so u can write them down. Explains everything and he gives the best advice. He gets to know every student. I had him 2 years ago and when I see him in the hall he remember my full name and where i sat in his class. Amazing
Absolutely a must have teacher! He explains everything in detail, doesn't keep you long. Provides great stories during class. Very resourceful and a great professor to network with. He should be in career services because he does a lot more than they do to help you with the job search.
I had him twice - he is a great teacher and very helpful to students, not just in the course but also goes beyond to help with your future. Take this professor he is the best!
He is an unbelievabky great teacher!!! He makes class time so much more fun and interesting than any other professor because he has a great personality, is extremely funny, tells us great stories, and cares about our futures and job search way more than we should! He is a good teacher for FIT but not a great professor when compared to other schools. He knows his stuff but is a bit cocky and sometimes isn't clear about what he wants. Overall a worthwhile class to take but he is rather condesending to students and makes fun of people often. Kind of a shallow person but still a decent class to take.
Very energetic and keeps you engaged, highly knowledgable, tells great stories, and really cares about helping students. On the down side, a bit disorganized and some of the tests were not well written (multiple right answers, unclear questions). On the whole, though, I'd definitely recommend. Knows his stuff and really wants you to do well.
He is an AMAZING teacher!!! He really cares about his students and wants them to do well and succeed!! I am graduating this December and he has helped me in my job search and gave me the most helpful advice on negotiating salary. This is my second time to have professor Quan and I would highly recommend anyone taking him!!! Great teacher!!!!
I took his class over the summer and I enjoyed it. He is very nice and helpful. He will answer any questions and is a great networking contact.
He's a great teacher... I learned so much and was able to utilize that information in my internship this summer. Not only does he want you to be successful academically but also in your career. He's a great for networking purposes also. The class was not super easy so dont take his playfullness for granted. He was great!
Professor Quan is one of those professors you purposely pick the class that he's teaching because he is that good and you will actually come out of the class knowing what your doing

Amazing professor. 3rd semester taking him. Highly reccommend taking his classes.
He talks a lot even during exams but he is serious about success. There is a quiz just about every other week and homnework is graded. No make ups for exams not sure about quizzes.
He is gpa driven and does not understand if you get sick or should I say he could care less. No chilli pepper for you Quan!
DONT TAKE HIM. Super annoying and talks about himself the ENTIRE time. I seriously could write a book on him... Even though he knows this**** hardcore, he is not a very good teacher and since he does know it all his grading is SO SO SO hard. I am a straight A student and his class I got a C... So not worth the money.. And umm gross he is NOT cute!

If you want to hear about the all mighty Quan- then this is the class for you! If you actually want to learn the material and not roll your eyes the whole time- get out!! This class is about JDA- but, although according to Quan EVERY COMPANY uses JDA, he knew nothing about it, he was learning as he went along. Also, blamed the book for his mistakes
Professor Quan was tough and gave WEEKLY quizzes but also was fair by answering questions and accepting challenges. If you ever even consider cheating do not take his class he WILL catch you! The material was hard but if you try hard he will give you a great grade...and yes he does talk way too much!!

Do not take this class as a blended course. You meet 6 or 7 weeks in-class and the rest is online. Quan is very understanding and funny. He is also very strict and disciplined. I enjoyed his class but I would've preferred it only in-class, not blended.

He is hilarious & full of stories that will make his class even better. Weekly online quizzes (super easy) and a few tough tests. Quan will make you work for it but you will thank him later!
Very animated, always entertaining, keeps things interesting and makes learning fun! Also teaches invaluable life lessons, especially for the professional life ahead of us students.

If you have the opportunity to take him - DO IT! He gives so much insight into the industry through his lectures and story telling. He wants everyone to succeed and as long as you're respectful, honest and try your hardest - you'll LOVE this class.
I am not sure if it is him as a teacher or this class but he does not teach Merchandising Strategies online very well. It is a heavily dense with a final senior project which is a paper and presentation for a sponsor. He doesn't explain things very well. A lot of time he doesn't make sense. This is not a class to take online or teacher to have.
Professor Quan was great. He really cares about his students and has many good stories about his time in the industry. He is really big on punctuality so if you have him try not to be not even a minute late, he takes that very strictly. I would love to take him again, he really was great.
Prof Quan gives great lectures based on his own industry experiences. He is extremely knowledgeable AND he can teach. He knows how to guide the class to think critically.
Professor Quan gives lectures that actually draw a lot on his real life experience in the field which is great. He explains things really well, and uses a lot of examples. He is easy to listen to, and tells it like it is.

Something great about Prof Q is that he ties in real world happenings into the course content, and teaches you far more than the textbook would. However he gets side tracked very easily and often skips chapters which you are still expected to read and will be tested on. Overall, great class just not for people who need academic structure.

he is rlly strict with attendance. he will go through powerpoints really quick but let you know what is important or not that will be on the test. have alot of connections. he doesnt review for the final, the test he gives out are decent. i did fine in his class. 2 EXAM, 1 GROUP PROJECT, FINAL ,weekly quiz online.
Professor Quan cares about his students and keeps his class very relevant and entertaining. The book is only necessary for the weekly before class quizzes. Paying attention in class/studying and working hard on the group project will get you an A. His main downfall is that he talks about himself and his projects A LOT.

He doesn't really teach you about marketing, he just goes over the ppts and tells you what to highlight. He is a tough grader on his assignment, which is a case study. He is fair with his grades, but a tough grader overall.
He could be a great professorhumorous and inspirationalbut unfortunately he doesnt care about teaching. He never prepares for lectures but only reads ppt and talks about himself. Hes strict about punctuality. Group projects and exams are very tough. He asks students to rate for him here in his first class. DO NOT take him if you want to learn.

Definitely my least favorite class I had to take first semester. He is okay I guess but doesn't know when he crosses a line which is quite often. He had to apologize to our class multiple times for being offensive. You have to take quizzes every week, he makes you read articles only he is featured in, you will randomly get called on all the time.
I DREADED going to this class. Professor Quan spends half the time talking about himself. He makes us read every article he featured in and also interviews hes in, even if its just one sentence. He picks on students and participation is very important. He also needed to apologize to us many times because of some offensive comments he has said.
He is literally the worst. Uh. First day of class made us take a freaking oath to swear not to say any of the dumb stuff he says to the administration. He has had to apologize multiple times for being uneducated and offensive. This class literally took ten years off of my lifespan. Do. Not. Get. Quan.
Be prepared to get called on because participation is mandatory. The professor is kind and caring but talks a lot about life and information outside of class. Watch out for weekly homework assignments like quizzes that aren't difficult, but you need to read the textbook to pass it. Overall, you will learn from the class, but be prepared to work.
This class should not have been as hard as it was but Quan just went off topic literally every class. Myself along with others all dreaded going to this class. All Quan does is talk about himself and call out students. There are weekly quizzes so textbook is necessary. Weekly discussions too. Dont take this class.
Took this class online due to Covid. He spent half of the class talking about himself and somehow relating every single topic back to himself... This was my least favorite class where the 3 hours seemed like an eternity. I dreaded Wednesdays because of this class. He spends the first half of the class talking about himself and we have class discussions on articles. For the other half, he just reads directly from the powerpoint. The only good thing about this class was the people I met.
This was my least favorite class, all the Prof Quan does is talk about himself and whenever I asked questions about what we were talking about he never had an answer for me, it was like he didn't know what he was teaching. He the most self centered teacher I've ever seen. He will spend hours talking about himself and making his students read articles that he is featured in. He has constantly showed that he is out of touch with not only the students but the real world and his class is the worst for a new student. Don't take his class if you don't want to be insulted.
When the semester first started I thought that this class was great but as time rolled on the true nature of the class and the professor was revealed. A majority of the time spent is the professor talking about himself, and then the rest is boring and unhelpful lectures. If I had more characters left I would have a lot more to say, two thumbs DOWN!
Genuinely the worst teacher I have ever ever taken. He will not provide anything useful and will more often be very counterproductive while he brags about himself and blatantly insults his students. It was clear instantly that he would be bad but even though our expectations were low he's managed to disappoint us further every class. Do not take.
I believe he has good intentions, but this class was extremely difficult. Very little specifics regarding what will be on exams, and he is quick to interrupt when students are talking/presenting to ask questions or make a point. Focused on his press features and read a lot from slides. I would advise another professor unless you LIVE for business.
He is incredibly unprofessional and talks about things that shouldn't be disclosed in class. He will interrupt students' questions and/or presentations to hurry them up. He is very self-centered and 9 times out of 10 he will make you read articles that he is mentioned in to brag. If you're thinking about registering for his class, don't.
A terrible professor with such little care for his students that you will want to not only drop his class but change schools. He is so far from what an ideal professor is its mind-blowing that he is employed. If you need a reason to not take this class then remember the bragging or the insults or how he makes classes terrible every week

quan is literally annoying, uneducated and self obsessed. it is incredible to me that he hasn't been fired. he has good potential, and maybe his class is better in person, but online it just seemed like he didn't really know what he was doing. don't take his class.
Prof Quan is extremely frustrating and has a severe god complex. He starts every class talking about how he KNOWS the fashion industry and how lucky every student is to take his class. You aren't lucky. Be prepared to be randomly called on and judged for your background/appearance. Never take Quan at 8am, or at all.
Quan made me want to leave this University. If I ever have another professor like him, I will drop. No questions asked. Quan forgets that the things that he says actually have a human impact on his students. It is an act of superhuman strength to go to his class time and time again. I'm stronger but worse off because of it.

To keep it short and simple: save yourself and dont avoid having him as your professor. He made this class a complete nightmare and I can speak for the majority of the class when I say we didnt learn much, if anything, from him. He even had to literally call us out to say something we learned and we all could not think of ONE thing.
Talks about himself for the full 3 hours of class. You don't learn anything, he just brags about himself. Only graded on 4 things for the whole semester (case study, midterm, final, and final group project). Not very understanding either when it comes to absences. Makes you stay on zoom for tests.

Professor Quan is a very knowledgeable man he knows a lot about the fashion industry however he talks a lot about himself, participation matters a lot as well he gives homework every week, if you dont participate he will call on you.
Prof. Quan SUCKS. Every quality you don't want in a professor, he has. Classes are long and boring where he talks about himself for an hour and then reads premade powerpoints made by the textbook company. Preaches academic honesty but can't even create his own assignments. Takes his time grading assignments - took 3weeks to give us our final grade.
Took his 8am class, because he went off on tangents when "explaining" the material when the midterm and final came (only 2 exams) they were extremely hard. He also made us do case studies, and if you didn't write what he was not expecting he would take points off. The group project is a good way to bring ur grade up if u need too.

Honestly, Just no. Do not take this class if you actually want to learn. He just talks about himself and will seriously make you feel like you aren't good enough. Wouldnt recommend him to any other FIT student. Other professors have their own say on him as well. He is super Judgemental and the FIT community knows it!
FIT students are too good for this professor. He was the worst professor I had during my four years at FIT. All my friends took him and said the same thing. He is super unprofessional, and not a good businessman. He told me I "wouldn't be successful", now I own a NYC based multi million dollar company, and am more successful then he will ever be.
Participation and engagement are the biggest factors when it comes to grading, if you don't show up you'll fail and he won't like you. Stay on top of reading assignments, quizzes and be prepared for tests. He's a nice guy but definitely likes to hear himself talk and plays favorites when it comes to students. Screen sharing is mandatory in remote.
I had no choice but to take him (all other professors were taken/did not fit with my schedule) and I kept hoping he would not be as bad as the reviews made him be. Boy, was I wrong. Quan's ratings scared me, sitting through ONE of his classes was actual torture. My friend and I dropped him during the break of our first class. I cannot imagine being in the class for the whole semester. Talked about himself, his money and clothes, how smart he is, etc. AND he made us take an oath to not discuss what he says outside of his class!
The first class with Prof Quan was painful. On the first day, 3 hours were spent talking about how amazing and incredible he is, and about why his haters on this site are wrong. Then, he wanted us to write fake good reviews for him. Very little time spent on the course info, and more time spent on him boasting about himself.
Professor Quan has helped me on many platforms. Not only is he a great professor, but he has given me internship application opportunities, as well as helped me into my study abroad program. Overall he cares about your success as a student and will do whatever it takes to make you succeed.
Professor Quan is one of the best and most respected Professors at FIT. I have tried to take his classes, but they fill up quickly! Prof Quan has been a great mentor even though I did not have him in class. He works to set you up with internships and industry contacts. As long as you work hard, Professor Quan will help you in any way he can! A++!

Professor is often sidetracked from teaching lectures and course material to the students. He tries to be nice and funny, but spends too much time talking about things unrelated to the class. We learn from powerpoints made by the textbook. Could be worse, as the class has improved since it first began.

Being a first year college student, I didn't know what to expect going into college. Prof Quan was the first professor I met and I feel that his experience in the industry and all of his knowledge helps us students to have a better understanding of the real world and working in retail rather than memorizing a textbook.

Make sure to put extra effort in in class because Quan will really go out of his way to help you career wise so make sure you treat him with respect. Really interesting lectures and will actually give you advise to help in the industry instead of just showing how to do well in the class.

He is truly one of those professors that u just don't want to listen to. he tries to brag about his past career and knowledge. he barely teaches he just runs through the material. He also tries to be relatable and funny but isn't. everyone just fake laughs and grunts to themselves lol
Quan was one of the best professors I've had. He tells stories in a way where he will keep your attention and focus while having fun. He says what he needs to say and he gets his point across, you just have to be smart enough to understand his way of teaching and what he means. Some people may not understand. A very memorable class.
Quan spends all of his time bragging about himself instead of giving useful lectures. He's incredibly arrogant and unhelpful. Has incredibly difficult tests and grades with unclear, strict standards. Worst professor I've ever had. Avoid him at all costs. (most of the positive reviews were ones that he bribed students to give him during classes)

Very nice and jokes a lot, exams are mostly multiple choice other than 3 short answer but super easy. Your only hw is a weekly mindtap quiz. Class is overall very fun and he makes it interesting. He has the students best interest at heart.
Professor Quan is a great professor with a lot of experience. He loves to joke around with students, but also gives advice and seeks out opportunities for us. HW is weekly Mindtap quizzes which aren't difficult. The exams are challenging, so studying is important. Overall I enjoyed this class and would definitely take professor Quan again!

Have you ever wanted to teach yourself your entire course material while simultaneously knowing your professors entire personal and professional life? Well this is the class for you. Is he nice? Sure. Does he care about his students? In a sense. Is he a good teacher? No. Will most of your class fail their exams? Well yes.
Professor Quan, outside of the class environment, is a really great person who knows a lot about the industry. He wants his students to succeed and “make money” as he says. I'm terms of his teaching style, I do think he tends to rely on the textbook and powerpoints for us to learn rather than teaching us through application or practice.
Prof. Quan is overall a genuine guy, however he is very arrogant and has a very inflated ego which comes across very condescending. He clearly puts himself on a pedestal and is very frustrating to speak with/learn from. He wants his students to do well, but does not prepare us well. He says a lot of words but few are helpful. Would advise against.
Vincent Quan seems nice. But, you're on your own in this class. He goes through the material fast and expects you to learn through the readings and quizzes. He also brags about himself every class. When you ask for help, he doesn't really help with the quizzes. And you won't know your final grade until the end of the semester. Take at your risk.
He talks about himself for most of class and then tries to put in the lectures really quickly at the end. You have to teach yourself completely for the exams. There are 3 exams and they are MC. However, the exams do not have the same material that are in the power points.
I get the negative reviews but if you are actually here to learn and succeed, Quan is the guy for you.I have learned so much in just a few weeks, lecture heavy and the homework is a weekly reading and take home quiz. But if you build a good relationship with him you will go places. He sets students up with crazy internships and wants us to succeed.
It's one thing to take quizzes and exams, but we're not getting the practice we need to actually learn the material. The homework feels like pressure, not support, and for an intro class the structure isn't helping us understand anything. Any time math comes up, it's rushed, leaving most of us confused. RUN. DUDE
If you are an AMC major, do not take this class. Take an AMC-related course. If you are an AMC major, you aren't as prepared as everyone else, and you are expected to know things you haven't been taught, which will be on the tests.
