Not very helpful, but 1/3 of class gets an A, 1/3 gets a B, and 1/3 gets a C...so you are sure to pass!
I thought he was very helpful. He was an effective teacher. If you are not good at math, he is the guy to take.
very handsome. he is such a sweetie.
Most of the tests were mult. choose with no partial credit. Expects a lot out of you and for you to preform well; you will pass but it is HARD to get an A in his class.
It was the hardest class I have had in college, but I am horrible in math. He is a funny guy though, just that he grades too hard on exams, no partial credit. Either you are right or not. But if you are just looking to pass a math class, take him.
I thought he was pretty easy.I got a B+ in calc so how hard can the guy be. Hes funny too. Take him in the summer if you can
DO NOT Take Him if you dont have to. Difficult to understand but he curves a lot. makes bad jokes
I like his teaching, he is a bit unclear at times but he takes his time and doesn't rush you. Tests were fairly easy, it wasn't anything he had not gone over before.
His reviews are harder than the test... ask questions... got to him for help!!!
Guy knows hiw stuff, but can't teach it. Extremely hard to understand
Very Smart..but terrible teacher..hard to understand!
He is very challenging, but he makes you know the material. He is also a very caring and understanding teacher. If you go to him for help, you will do well in his course.
very willing to give extra help outside of class. if you do the HW and go to his office for help, you will pass.
never did my homework and only studied for tests the night before...got a B. I could never understand what he was saying but he was always willing to help
He's definatly a cool guy. Accent is ammusing but not too hard to understand. He gives a ****load of homework though.
Great professor! His explanations are clear and he gives lots of examples. Although there is a considerable amount of homework, it really helps you to learn the material.
Great teacher!! Once you get to know him hes a funny guy. You have to work hard though, but he gives you help if you need it.
Hard class, but he helps out alot... always there if you needed sometin.
a nice guy.. but u have to show up to class everyday.. gives a lot of quizzes.. and always checks hw... helps ur grade out a lot.. tests are a bit hard. but if u show up to class u should be fine.. he does give extra credit. but mini ones..overall i was pleased..
class isnt terribly hard, pretty basic stuff. thick accent, very hard to follow. hes also a little nuts, some days hes really happy and cracks up in the middle of class for no reason. but others he flips out at everyone for random stuff such as, chewing your gum too loud ha! if you can take someone else dont take him!
nice guy. easy class overall. he makes it almost impossible to fail a test. do the homework. gives in-class "quizzes." funny...even though it takes a while to understand. sometimes i found myself laughin at him tho. i say take him
He is alright. Prepares you for the tests. Funny facial expressions. Expects you to go to class every day. Take notes and you'll do alright.
this professor is really good as long as you can understand him through his thick accent. do your homework b/c it's graded, but easy. he gives you practice tests to help you study. i got out with a B and didn't work very hard. he's always available for help if you need it! i would highly recommend!
Hilarious guy, great teacher, very clear and helpful. Tests are very do-able if you take notes and do the homework. Highly recommended.
very clear
I'm taking this class as a requirement and I've taken calculus in high school so this class is a breeze but honestly, if you have any background in math at all this class will not be hard for you. Dr. Nittica breaks the material down to a VERY easy level. He's foreign so he has an accent but still a good prof.
Nitica is awesome, there are so many opportunites for points and he practivally curves everything
He is a very good professor. All the comments about him are under N. His name is Viorel and last name Nitica. Go to that page and you will see why to take math with him. Explains really well. He cares and make sure you understand. Gives extra credit and exercises that help a lot.
Great professor! Take him. He is very caring. Makes sure you understand. Go to his office if you need help. He encourages you. Gives lots of examples... Makes calculus easier. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
He is very helpful. Nitica explains really well. The hardest topics seem easy when he explains them. He gives you easy-to-follow strategies to solve hard problems. He cleared confusion I had from last semester. Take calculus with him!!!
I don't know who all these other people are rating.. Nitica made simple math mistakes all the time and had people from our class correct him. He was not very friendly or willing to help, either.
Dr. Nitica may seem a intimidating at first, but he's a really nice guy and wants students to do well. Very approachable during office hours and gives opportunity to do well and pass the class. Of course if you're more interested in whining about using only one index card(cheatsheet) during tests instead of two, this clas isn't for you.
Great guy! very good teacher and really enjoys teaching. helpful. easy to do well if you do the homework.
terrible class and teacher, he's hard to understand and his powerpoints are the worst, barely explains the material and expects u to just understand it the first time, he gives no partial credit on any quiz or test,if u plan on doing really well, u better do all the homework and study alot for both the quizzes and tests, i wouldn't suggest this guy
I think the poster before me sums it up best..."if u plan on doing really well, u better do all the homework and study a lot for both the quizzes and tests". Duh? It's called "college" not elementary school Skippy. Do the work, do well. He curves like a crazy man. If you can't pass his class easily, trade school is your future.
nice guy, easy a if you go to class and pay attention.....grades easy
great teacher...hard to understand but when you get his words everything turns to be very easy
professor nitica barely speaks english and runs through the lesson so fast i dont understand anything that goes on..i was sick one day and i feel like ive missed a week and im so lost..theres hw every night which isnt bad but its hard. hes a nice man but needs to explain lessons clearly
Nitica is awesome. I have him for Applied Analysis and the material is incredibly hard but he does his best to help us understand. He is always willing to help at any time and grades extremely easy. Definitely recommended
Prof. Nitica is awesome. Anyone who says otherwise shouldn't be in school. It doesn't take much work to keep up with his class. I've done horrible in every math class I've ever taken. So far, I've got an A in his class. And all I do is keep up with the homework and study for a night or two before the tests.
I never was good at math but he helped make it easier to learn. he gives lots of Extra Credit, He gives homework and collects it every now and then but he says when he will. he cracks a few jokes now and then. I recammend him
Professor Nitica was excellent. If you attended class, and payed attention, there was no way you could not understand the material. He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. He does not waste class time, and you know exactly what is expected of you.
Professor Nitica was honestly the best math teacher I have ever had. He was really nice and he presented the material in a way that everyone can understand. Yes, he has a Russian (?) accent but you get used to it. I am terrible at math and I ended up with a 101% in the class! Take Nitica!
Class started off fine but I feel like he called it a semester halfway through. He started to prepare us less and less for tests as semester went on.
He was the best math teacher i had. You just need to figure out his acent, which isnt really that hard. If i can, im gonna take a class with him again.
Professor Nitica is an AMAZING math teacher. I am not strong at all when it comes to math but he puts it in a way that is very easy to understand. He is always willing to go out of his way to help. Because of this I got an A+. Best math teacher ever!
Great teacher... yes?
Viorel is the best! He is funny in his own way and is a good professor. He may ask the question "yes?" a lot, but he is great! a man who know what he is talking about. Viorel is the man!
AVOID HIM IF YOU CAN!!
Hilarious. Daily lectures are posted online so you can pay attention in class, only writing some extra notes for yourself. He's very helpful. If you can explain why you got a problem wrong, you'll get points back. I bombed a test and went to his office hours - he gave me a problem to do there, and got 15% extra credit on it. He wants you to do well
Nitica is awesome. So helpful and genuinely wants to see students succeed. He knew I wanted to go right to Calc 1 so he gave me a book to get prepared for next semester. Getting an A+ this semester and I'm taking him for MAT 161 too. Take him if you get the chance!
Nitica is a good math professor. His accent is easy to get over after a few classes. He posts his lectures on D2L and they are helpful. Do the handouts he gives because they are worth points, and come to class because he sometimes gives extra credit when a lot of people are out. Don't bother buying the textbook though.
A really tough class, full of proofs. His accent makes it hard to pay attention and understand occasionally. But he was very helpful at office hours and I think he is easier on those students who attended. He does have a sense of humor, sometimes humiliating, but always funny.
I had to take his class and it was very hard. He teaches extremely fast and is very hard to understand, if u miss a class it feels as if u have missed a week of class. Didnt take attendance but you should go so ur not too lost. Try to avoid him if u can
"DO THE HOMEWORK"
He's ok, hard to understand, doesn't make things that clear. Tests are challenging. Shouldn't be your first choice for a calc teacher but prolly not the worst.
Viorel is awsome. He may have a thick accent but he is very clear about how to do the math. Asking questions helps alot too, He also gave chances for Exra Credit like it was candy so take do EC. I suggest taking him.
This review is specifically for MAT 427, but I have also had him for MAT 151 and MAT 200. He was a great professor for 151 and 200, but the fact is that no professor at this school knows how to teach MAT 427, and no one wants to. Avoid the class itself if possible. He does not know what he is doing, but YouTube does if you want to still take it. :)
Teaches way too quickly. Expects you to understand everything already. Insults you if you get something wrong. He knows his stuff but is a horrible teacher. If you take his class, be prepared to do a LOT of homework.
He is a good professor. He is funny and loves his subject he always says math is so fun. He gives a TON of extra credit allowing you to do well. And if you ask him a question on a test he practically gives you the answer. He explains things well and goes at a slow pace for everyone to keep up.
good class
I love taking class with Nitica. He has a strange sense of humor and his tests are usually easy. Unfortunately, his tests did not prepare for the final so you will have to truly understand what you learned to do well on the final. He is excellent in office hours and really likes to help students learn. Work with him and he'll like you.
Easy class if you know what you are doing.
He has quite an accent, but after a bit you get used to it. He has a very dry sarcastic sense of humor, but it's awesome. He is one of my favorite teachers/professors; definitely top 5. Just pay attention because he moves. On a cool little side note, he only brings markers to class and teaches everything by memory and it's all right.
Hard to understand but you get used to it. He's not clear with explaining things. If you don't understand math I'd recommend a different professor. Btw he calls you out in front of the class if your not understanding things, not sensitive to feelings.
Best math teacher in WCU. Easy going and easy to follow once you get through the accent.
I would highly recommend Dr. Nitica for any Math course. If you work at it and put in a good effort, you'll do fine. He's approachable and eager to help.
gotta get past his accent, then he's a great teacher, laugh at his jokes and he'll like you
Moves very quickly through material, takes a couple classes to get past his accent, and then you are already behind. First two tests aren't too bad but the third test has 12 full calculus questions and you'll be lucky if you finish over half. As far as learning the material, you'll know it by the end of the year, you just won't have a good grade.
I had him during the Spring of 2014, and I am not a math person. I ended up getting mostly As on the exams. Definitely study and do the homework in this course. Prof Nitica wants to see his students succeed, and gives tons of extra credit. Take advantage of his office hours; he is friendly and approachable.
MAT-443 is Applied Analysis at WCUPA. This course essentially covers topics in applied mathematics and partial differential equations. Took this in the summer, not an easy subject. Dr. Nitica is very reasonable and gave us replete notes. I find him to be a very thorough and considerate instructor. Grade was based on problem sets. Will take again.
Really good at explaining everything. Gives you so many resources (textbook, lectures, extra quizzes, review, answer keys, homeworks, etc.), so the only thing keeping you from a good grade is not doing the work. His accent is nothing to worry about, because he speaks English fluently. I've never had a single issue with his accent. Will take again.
Professor Nitica is great! He moves quickly in class and expects a lot from you. He is very helpful in his office hours. If you really want to learn and understand calculus take him.
Gives a lot of homework but it is weighted very lightly so I never do it. Most helpful math teacher I have ever taken. He will do anything he can to help you get a good grade: office hours, email, or in class he is always there to help. Do his test review packets, they make live 1000 times easier. Amazing prof all around
Nitica is hands down the best professor I've ever had. He knows all of his students names and wants us to succeed. He doesn't count attendance but he notices and appreciates when you come to class. Class should be an easy A if you attend and do the homework. He is very helpful and will go over anything in class. Accent isn't bad at all
Nice guy. Accent isn't that bad. A little odd. It's possible (probable) I didn't take the class seriously enough, but I did horrible. His grading is what screwed me over (90% of the grade is 3 exams and the final, 10% HW), and his lectures are what he grades on, so the book isn't of much help. He's not bad if you already know Calc, which I did not.
You'll get used to his accent, but he's the best math teacher i have ever had. I took calc in high school and i didnt do well. His class was an easy A! I took him over a year ago and i still study/refer to his notes after transferring from WCU. He gives a lot of extra credit, almost every class, so i wouldnt skip class to miss out on that chance.
The concepts in this class are not very interesting by nature. Nitica comes off as boring but warms up once you get to know him. He has a lot of dry humor and is pretty sarcastic. He does his best to make the concepts appealing. You have to do well on the tests to do well in the class.
Professor Nitica is an excellent math professor. He tries to prepare you for exams by handing out study guides which are very similar to the exam. He assigns homework which is sometimes graded, but it is not difficult. He also offers extra credit problems at the end of class (time permitting). I would highly recommend taking his class.
Prof Nitica explains new material very well and makes it easy to understand. He does have a thick accent, but speaks good english. He gives LOTS of homework, but it's really for your own good. He gives practice tests that are just like the test itself. Making this class very doable even for those that struggle in math.
Clear, confident, and tough. Inspired me to work harder. Good prof to take if you actually care about learning. Didn't make me waste money on a textbook for this course (precalc). I would take him again.
There is a lot of homework in his class, but if you do it you will be prepared for the test. Professor Nitica is very straight forward and really teaches you the information. Sometimes his accent can be very thick, but you will get used to it fast. I would recommend anyone to take his class, but if you do not do the homework it will hurt you.
Absolutely one of the best teachers I've had so far at WCU. Explains the material very well and gives you many homework that help your grade. The tests are IDENTICAL to his practice exam (change of #'s). If you do what your supposed to, you will get an A!
Professor Nitica knows his stuff and teaches in a way that is simple and straight forward. No text book which he considers to be a waste of money - just lecture notes and handouts that correspond directly. He provides practice exams and holds review sessions. Show him that you understand the material, go to office hours and youll be straight
Prof. Nitica is an excellent professor. He's clear, intelligent, and will help you succeed if you truly care about success. I took precalc with another prof at first and failed, then received an A after taking it again with Prof. Nitica. Spend plenty of time in his office, he's a good man to have a conversation with.
Doesn't explain his work when he teaches. Always makes mistakes and gets mad at students when we didn't catch his mistakes.
He's the type of person who says something hilarious but you only occasionally pick up on it. Posts all his lectures online, so unless you understand what's on the powerpoints -- DON'T skip class. Will call you a genius if you point out something incorrect on the board. He was super nice, and really easy grader.
Hes honestly the best teacher ever! He literally spoon feeds you & solves every equation on the board. He hates people using their phones & will call you out. Also, dont get to his class late or leave in the middle of class. He starts teaching the second he gets to class & doesnt care if its 20 mins before the scheduled time. ALSO,HES HILARIOUS
He's clear about what the grade for the class consists of, 4 tests and homework. The homework is easy to get behind on so make sure you do it as soon as you can. Tests are basically the practice on D2L. He's also great with extra credit. My test average went from an 80 to a 90 because of them. Show up on important days, study and you'll be ok.
The only saving grace to this class is that the practice exams and real exams are very similar. Prof Nitica has marked correct answers wrong on my exam and has been unwilling to take a look unless I come to his office and do the problems again. He gets mad if you get up in class, even to go get water.
Prof. Nitica is kind and caring. He has a sense of humor. He is generous with the extra credit. Do the work and go to the office hours. You have an opportunity to learn a lot and do great.
