i enjoy this class

She is a very bad teacher. She talks down to students all the time and is unwilling to help. She is not even a nice person she is rude and does not take her job seriously. I wish I never would have taken her. She is an terrible teacher!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree that she will talk down to students. If you are not testing like you would normally do, she would probably blame you for not studying enough, or she would suggest that you seek out testing from the learning center to find out why you are having difficulty.
She is a very good teacher but, she is very rude and unfair!!!! She needs to take care of her angernesst toward the students!!
Ok, i admit she is a little abrasive at times, but there is nothing wrong with a teacher that actually takes the time out of their day to telk to you about how your grades aren't what they used to be. It is a rarity to find a teacher that cares. Her lectures are actually pretty good in spite of the sporatic notes on the board...
Yes, she's abrasive, I think its a breath of fresh air. She's straightforward and non-tactful, a fine quality. Good teacher. Her chalkboard notes are sloppy and all over the place though
Her Lectures lag too much because she overclarifies everything, and yeah that may sound like a good thing, but she does it so much that you loose interest fast.

MRS. lOZANO IS THE BEST PSYCHOLOGY TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD I HAD HER FOR PSYCH. 101 AND 126 I REALLY ENJOYED HER CLASESS!!!!!! IF I COULD I WOULD REPEAT HER CLASSES AGAIN!!!!! MANY PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE HER BECAUSE SHE'S DIRECT BUT THAT'S WHAT I LIKE ABOUT HER. I WOULD RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO TAKE mRS. lOZANO FOR PSYCHOLOGY!!!!
helpful with a variety of things will always answer any question and help you understand when things seem unclear.
you either love her or hate her, i just so happen to love her...writing is messy, but everything she goes over is in the book and the quizzes are a great study tool for the tests and the final is the last test. its easy if you study. i took all the psych classes she offeres
Lozano is perhaps the worst instructor I've yet encountered at PC. While she knows her subject well, she is unfriendly and brutish, not to mention disorganized and slow to respond. I am of the opinion that a 101 class should not challenge its best students to scrape an A, and hers does. Avoid Lozano if at all possible.
Lozano takes really confusing and unclear notes, her tests are pretty hard She is not afraid to tell it like it is.
Great teacher, nice and straight forward. always willing to help
She is a very good teacher, but some people just don't like her because she is Direct. She has experience in the field, so If you're serious about learning about Psychology, she's your best option.... Everyone who says she's a bad teacher most probably didn't try at all and failed her class.
Great professor, I learned a lot and feel prepared for more upper level Psych classes! Take her!
It was by far one of the most confusing classes, I think mostly because I took it online. Very straightforward teacher though.
She is a good teacher and if you read the book and know everything on the test study guide you should easily pass the class.
it's a perty good class but its too hard you basically need to read all the book because you never know what shes going to put in the tests, in my pesonal opinion i like her class but i don't like how she grades she basically fails every one in her class if you don't show knowledge in her class.
Lozano is one tough cookie. The class I took with her was very interesting but her notes and tests were ridiculous. Her notes were messy and hard to follow, and as for tests you need to read EVERY LITTLE DETAIL because you never know what will be on her tests. If you do not read, you will most likely fail the tests and the class.
Lozano is not a nice person. She treats her students like they're in 3rd grade & forgets that this is college and we pay for these classes. Her notes are messy and all over the place on the board. Worst professor ever, it's like walking on eggshells in her class. I wish I knew this before I took her class...very hard lesson learned!
Would not recommend she does not take her students into consideration treats you like you are stupid especially if you do not agree with her opinions.
The first professor I've had who doesn't care.
Amazing and inspirational teacher. Take the class if you actually enjoy psychology and not to satisfy requirements. The lecture makes you think and can be applied to your daily life. I love her. She's tough but this is college not highschool get used to it.
I took her Psychology P101A course on FALL 2014. She is a great teacher, and she is very passionate about her job! She is extremely knowledgeable about the subject she teaches! There are exams, so you have to read, study, and attend class regularly to pass the class. She is also pretty funny.
She seriously does not know how to teach. Plus she puts you down and says don't expect a good grade.
Worst teacher ever. Puts her students down. If you don't know somthing your automatically stupid and less respected by her. Her teaching methods are garbage. She's stubborn about technology and socail media. She's not attractive and she has a hunched back. Avoid her at all cost
She comes on strong at first, and that actually never goes away. She's not going to disservice her students by lowering her expectations. Participation will get you a long way in her class. Take her class if you're not a sissy and actually want to be treated like an adult, held accountable & LEARN SOMETHING. I would take her again.
I agree with all the comments, both the good and the bad. I found her very rude and often poorly prepared, yet she is challenging and funny in a horrifying way. I enjoyed her class.
I read the reviews on here & felt discouraged from taking her class however I decided to enroll in it and do not regret it. I LOVE her class, it is extremely interesting & you will learn a lot. For those complaining she is hard & mean are probably the ones who aren't ready for college. :) I have to admit it is pretty challenging, but worth it!
Honestly, I went on this site as I do with each of my professor's and I was nervous. I spoke to one girl who had her, she said, "Just stay quiet." I took the advice, but I found myself talking during the class and joining in with talking. Yes she can be intimidating, but I genuinely like her. I know people who dislike her. But I am fine with her.
I love Ms Lozano. I'll be taking another one of her classes in the summer just for fun. She's funny, open, and interesting. Don't change anything Ms Lozano!!
She is very old fashioned and her way or the highway type. Follow the rules and don't be late or absent or taking too many bathroom breaks or even yawn because she'll tell you something. She can be funny but also condescending. You'll learn mostly from the book rather than her scattered notes. Bring your popcorn because it should be interesting...
Yes she may seem very strict, but that is for your own good. You are suppose to be treated as an adult in college. None of that high school mombo jumbo. Highly recommend listening to both her lecture and book to see if she left anything out. I recommend taking her for the class.
The class overall was an easy class, because you mainly learn by yourself through your textbook. The textbook is an easy read and interesting. Mrs. Lozano is a very confusing teacher very one minded, and sometimes rude. Don't bother writing down her notes. I would not recommend her!
I took this course over the summer and it was a hybrid class. She does not respond to emails and if she does it takes her a week. Which is not accepatable especially if its about classwork and you need her help. I didn't see her as a rude person, she was very straightforward. Disorganized and didn't ever respond to how I did on my classwork.
defiantly a tough class but as long as you show up prepared you'll do well. Read the chapters before lecture to understand what she talks about. Online quizzes are pretty easy but exams in class are tough. Make sure you do the study guides she hands out. Very strict about talking when she's lecturing and no cell phone use. Hard work pays off!
The negative chatter about Mrs. Lozano was instantaneous, which I thought was a bit ridiculous. The emphasis is on the textbook. Period. The purpose of her lectures are simply to supplement the material in the book, not provide you with everything you need to know. Outline everything in the book for notes, including details, not just definitions.
Probably the worst class I have Tooken in PC. You pretty much learn on your own. She does do notes but has such a horrible writing that I didn't understand half the things she put on the board. She's really rude and puts students down. I wouldn't recommend this professor at all. & she's always late to class
I took this class because it fulfilled a requirement. She is not a good teacher at all in my opinion. She take HORRIBLE notes that are hard to read and very sloppy and unorganized. She also has a bad attitude and almost seems angry all the time. You can pass this class but you definitely have to work for it. Not an easy A.
Super Interesting class! Lectures are meant to supplement the reading. She harvests a great learning environment by having zero tolerance for disruptions of any kind. Mrs. Lozano is truly a gem in this college as she inspires critical thinking. I'm strongly considering taking another class with her although my major doesn't require it.
At the beginning I felt she didn't want students to do well, like she was setting you up to fail. After I changed my attitude about situation I realize that her method of teaching is preparing us for this fields, psychology, future course, and effective. You have to study hard and work for your grade. I will def be taking another class with her !
I think Her way of teaching is not appropriate for college. Her notes are very hard to follow they are also hard to read because of her bad handwriting. when writing she is all over the place she skips from one subject to the other and it makes her whole lecture hard to understand and read Overall a very stressful and hard class.
Her lecture notes are hard to read, she jumps from board to board with different things, and she always goes off topic which makes it very confusing. Her tests are very difficult and you much memorize all 25-35 pages. In the short answer tests she will not give you points even if your answer is right simply because it's not how she wants it.
she lectures from one point to another, confusing the entire class. She will start chapter 5 rant about chapter 10,12,2,8 and then come back for 15 minutes to "finish" chapter 5. A lot of unnecessary reading, hard grading. Attendence in mandatory, and expect pop quizes and online quizzes , essay answers on exams.
She has a unique personality but overall shes a very understanding person. She has passion in the subject she teaches and it really shows in her lectures.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. She is rude and condescending to just about anyone. She is constantly late but yet yells at students when they are. I shouldve listened to what people had to say about her, but I gave her a chance and I regret it. She is horrific.
Hardest professor I ever took. When I didn't understand the material and seek for her help, she didn't help me. She told me to look over my notes or her lecture. Lecture and notes were not helpful at all.
This professor is very knowledgable about what she is teaching, however, she is rude and insulting. I don't like how she yells at students and criticizes everything we do. Would not recommend her because I've cried enough!
Absolutely one of the worst instructors Ive ever had. She is very rude and acts in a manner that is not at all professional. Taking her was a huge mistake.
Picking her class was a huge mistake, she is constantly condescending, very rude and overall not enjoyable to be around. I dreaded attending her lectures.
Doesn't teach well, grades are based majorly on exams. She gets irritated when asked questions and her only help is to tell you to reread the chapter. Her tests are horrible, she gives very little instructions for projects and expects you to just know what she wants. She doesn't stay on topic and belittles students who ask questions.
She is the type of person you avoid in everyday life. Very unpleasant and her teaching methods are extremely outdated and its clear shes stubborn when it comes to technology. STAY AWAY
She will lecture most of the time and shows some interesting videos. Her notes are a mess. The best thing to do is read the book and take your own notes. There are some rare occasions when she will give out random group work and pop quizzes. However, i don't think that they make much of a difference in your grade. Focus on studying for tests.
she is the absolute worse. that is all. goodbye.
Took her hybrid class, she unless you read the textbook you wont pass the exams. Do NOT use her study guide nothings on the test. Beware of her course!!
Personally this wasn't a good professor for me. She is really strict and expects for people to speak up in her class. Many quizzes and tests. Class is hard to pass and no phones allowed. Her class is hard to understand. She's very tough and not afraid to fail you. I attended everyday and still got an F. Need to pass her tests to pass class.
Lectures were all over the place. Participation is encouraged but be careful with what you say. She likes to disagree with students on how they 'actually' feel about personal experiences and will translate your feelings for you. Be sure to read the chapters before class to understand lecture. Knowledge of psychology before taking this class helps.
Her lectures arent even lectures, she is all over the place. Rude when it comes to expressing an opinion. Only she can be right. She seems nice at first but that ends quickly.
Love her classes. Everyone complaining about her classes I'm sure didn't want to do the actual work. She is thorough in her lectures and explanation of the material and concepts. So long as you take learning seriously, you will do well. Yes, there is reading required. If you don't want to read and do work, don't bother continuing with college.
She is honestly one of the worst porfessors at Porterville College. Her sheer stubberness to adapt to technology in the end only hurts the student. She is the type of person you would avoid in public. Avoid her at all costs
Professor Lozano was not tough because she wanted to better her students, she was just plain rude. She encouraged participation but if your comments were not up to her standards, she might scold you. Her PSYCH101 class consisted of mostly exams that determine most of your grade, be sure to study the book closely because her lectures are a mess.
I do not even go to school here during the fall and spring and I am taking her summer class. Apparently she has a problem with me asking questions as she was being such a smart ass. Her online test doesn't even allow you to go back and look at questions so good luck
She ONLY gives us test and that determines if we fail or not. Very poor ass effort from her part. Her lectures arent even good. She expects us to teach ourselves. Very rude too. She doesnt give us Homework which doesnt give us a chance to bring up our grade if we are failing. Now I cant drop the class, I regret being in her class. COVID-19 time
Difficult class because the only thing she grades are quizzes that she doesnt even help us study for. Kinda rude too if you ask a simple question
I've taken both Abnormal Psych & General Psych with Lozano & enjoyed both classes. She is very misunderstood and cares a lot about her students but is a "tough love" type of person. The only negative thing about her class is how she grades. The class is test heavy, she does NOT give A's and will not explain why. She would be great if she changed!
As long as you read the textbook, show up to lectures and study. Youll be fine. All of these other ratings are dramatic.
At the beginning of every class I’ve taken she goes over her curriculum and explains what is needed in order to pass her courses. It’s simple- Be on time, don’t be late, don’t interrupt and participate as much as possible. The learning and grades speak for themselves. younger kids from high school hate her bc she does give u a wake up Call
Took this class as a late start online course. She only accepts homework through email and will not accept it if it is not done a specific way. The exams were online and start at a specific time and you are given very little time. Would not recommend if you are able to do the tests at the given time.
Awful professor, refused to acknowledge emergencies letting students fail.
Don't choose her if you have anything going on in your life (kids or work). She doesn't care if you have an emergency or any reason involving children. If you miss a class because you were sick she will ask you for a doctors note. Book is required and you won't pass if you don't have it. She's very rude and gets off topic easily so you never learn.
Most horrible professor, her lectures are everywhere and it doesn't make any sense. She's not understanding for those with kids and will fail you. Her grades are only on random quizzes she assigns before we even learn the chapter and exams, her study guides are okay, but there's stuff on exams she hasn't gone over. READ THE BOOK!!
Only the 2nd day and had problems with her. I gave her the benefit of the doubt when I heard bad things about her. She stopped her lecture twice when I asked someone about her writing on the board and it turned into a whole questionnaire about me and even joked about. She is quick to go off topic and wants to prove a point no matter what.
She was a tougher professor but really cared about the subject. She didn't repeat herself too often and she doesn't allow ANY electronics which was kind of a bummer cause I found myself leaving class a lot just to check my phone. Her assignments arent ever busy work and everything we learned in this class can be used outside of class.
Her lectures are meh, she will cover some of what will be on the exam in the lecture but not all. She tends to go off on tangents on the same topic. The textbook is a MUST for this class; you will fail without it. If you don't read the chapters for the exams, you will fail them. She is kind, but overall her class was difficult and stressful.
Lozano will definitely come off very intimidating, but she's just passionate about what she teaches. Goes off on tangents very often but hilarious. Y'all are being dramatic. Just show up to lectures, read the textbook, and study for exams then you'll be alright. No homework but she gives them out sometimes for extra credit so take advantage!
Lozano was very knowledgeable and old school as far as the use of technology in her class goes. Prepare to take notes and study, because she has a high standard of what is expected from students. She is very approachable, and will take time to help students that have genuine interest in psychology. She genuinely cares about her students.
She was intimidating at first and is very old school. She encourages questions and participation in class and will give extra credit points when doing so. She is extremely knowledgable in her field of work and you can tell she cares deeply about the subject. Exam questions are straight out of the book. She taught me a lot. I would take her again.
Not the greatest
Attendance was mandatory even though she would show up late. Her lectures were more about her husband than actual psychology. I wouldn't recommend this teacher unless you want to drop out within the first week
Professor Lozano was one of the worst professors I've come across. She's rude, publicly humiliates people, and belittles them. If you say something or ask something expect to be immediately shut down no matter what because she's right and you're always wrong. A lot of the test she gives don't match lecture. I Would not recommend this professor
Worse professor. Listen to the others. Tests are heavy, every other week. Rude to students, and belittles them when they answer wrong. Read the book on your own and make your own notes otherwise you won't pass. Lectures and notes she gives doesn't match what is on the tests. So just read the book and you'll be fine.
Don't waste your time taking this class worst professor I had so far during this semester.
Most times she doesn't even talk about the lectures and talks about other things that aren't relevant to the subject. Class is okay if you're okay to work hard and read through big chapters which are gone over through lectures. Grading is mostly based on tests. She's very much old school only time you'll need a device is for quizzes.
