A great teacher! She actually spends time trying to make the course material fun and accessible! I really enjoyed the class!

She is a great funny teacher who knows what she is talking about...she loves to hear what YOU think, but she also shares her thoughts with the class...great job on the research paper, she was very helpful, high recommended

Well, what I'm hearing from some of the other comments is a lot of lazy people who probably didn't want to do the work. She is a very good teacher who cares about her students. If you don't like to actually think and would rather just pretend like you go to collage then find another teacher.

Absolutely the BEST teacher I have ever had. She is very enthusiastic and passionate about English and it shows in her teaching. She is fair, expects you to work hard, and I have the utmost respect for her.

I loved Mrs. Bouie class, she is very passionate about the subject and about life. she is a fair teacher, and expects her students to work hard and think criticaly. I learned alot about english and about life, i recomend her to anyone who needs to take english.

She is hilarious!!! Its almost like going to a comedy club!! But don't underestimate her, if you pay attention and respect her, you will do very good!!

She is one of my favorite teachers I've had thus far. She makes the class and assignments very interesting. She is not afraid to be honest or even blunt. She is also very helpful and to the point. You can email her at literally anytime. I wish she taught more classes!

She is one of the best teachers that I have had since I have been in this institution. She is very helpful and wants to see her students become successful writers. Very good teacher. She pushes back due dates if needed and explains things. Watched movies to help explain what you read. Gives you a lot of time to finish the Research paper and helps you write the thesis statements! I HIGHLY reccomend this teacher!!

Mrs. Bouie is an excellent English Professor. She gives clear directions and is really helpful. She expects you to be thoughtful on written assigments though. She is likes to joke and make the class interesting and fun.

She was a pleasure to have in class...I had dropped out English 102 3x before taking her class and she was very nice and helpful. If i had to take another english class i would take it with Mrs Bouie

Professor Bouie is one of JJC's shining stars. Her classes are very enjoyable because she puts so much of herself into them. Her grading is very fair. She is very available to her students if extra help is needed. If you put half as much effort into the class that she does, you will do well.

When it comes to grading papers she seems a bit harsh. It seems as though she's more concerned with a few grammatical errors than your ability to think critically, debate, or persuade. For example, Mrs. Bouie takes off 1 point per minor mistake and 2 points per major mistake on the final, this adds up quickly.

I think she was a great English teacher. I actually looked forward to her class at the end of the day. At first I thought she graded too harsh but then it turned out she wasn't. (At least with my papers) She is an amazing person and really makes class interesting. If you're a slacker don't plan on getting an A..but it's not that hard.

Bouie is one of the best teachers at JJC, and truly cares about her students. She is not an easy teacher, but one should not come to college expecting something easy. I recommend her class on tours I give at the college, and the way she conducts the state mandated research paper is superior to most other professors at the college. Excellent!

She has such a passion for teacher, and educating her students. You really do have to read all the assignments to understand the class... but hello this is English! There is also of information to get out of this class. But she is a really good teacher!

She is really, really nice and makes class discussions interesting, but can be a tough grader at times. Over half the class dropped before the research paper so they would have another teacher.I don't think she is bad, but can be very tough on papers

Personally, I did not like her class. Bouie is a nice, helpful woman do not get me wrong, but she is TOUGH on papers and LATE on handing back papers. I still have not recieved my research paper back and I've been on summer break for a week now..She is unorganized with students homework. Whoever takes the class, GOOD LUCK!

She is very loud and helpful. Believe me... I fell asleep in my art history class before this one and she would wake me up every day. Grades papers tough, but this is an ENG class, so it pushes you to write better. Spent hours discussuing the 5-10 page short stories you read the previous night, which is tad boring at times. Overall, pretty good.

Really good teacher. Really tough grader but do not drop her class it is fun! She's late with handing stuff back but is very passionate. You do have to work but it is really worth it. Get to fix your first two papers if you get below passing on them. Overall take her course you will be happy you did!

She's probably the most FUN teacher I've ever had in JJC. However, just like what others said, she's VERY late in handing back papers. She doesn't post your grade asap too so you basically don't know where you are in class. Oh and she's A VERY VERY VERY VERY tough grader. She's funny though and nice.

Great teacher. As many others say, she is late in handing back the papers but if you need help she will help you. She does make very clear what she wants and does not want. She does not like people using contractions whatsoever, do NOT use them at any time and she will make that very clear to you. Otherwise, she's a fantastic teacher and very nice.

I took an accelerated class with her over the summer (2 hour class). PROS: Nice professor, will help out if you have questions, spends a lot of time in the computer lab, where you share youtube videos, can text in lab (but not in her classroom), very open minded person CONS: tough grader, especially on the final, goes on long lectures too much

Prof. Bouie is a great teacher and I'd recommend her. She's very insightful and encourages philosophical thinking and class discussion. Personally, I never received the individual attention I would have liked but I guess I always caught her at the wrong time. We also spent wayyy too much time in the computer lab.

I am taking her again in the fall. She is an excellent, passionate English teacher that makes you think critically about everything. You just need to actually try, and it will be an easy class. This is coming from a dude who hates English, but she makes it seem so understandable.

If you expect to float through her course forget it. If you actually have a spine and like a challenge go for it. Not recommended for weak, lazy students. Excellent teacher.

Prof. Bouie was wonderful very professional good at what she teaches. If I had read this ratings before I probably wouldn't of taken her class, very glad I did . Her class was not easy but the challenges were very rewarding. She always gave me feedback and was helpful when I asked for help. Grades fairly so if you want a good grade work for it.

I would recommend this teacher, but she will grade very hard, so be prepared for that. She's very nice though and will go over assignments with you if you need assistance. She also has her funny moments and is known for teasing students (in the good way)

Great English professor! Don't take her if you're a slacker, she doesn't seem to tolerate it. She will make you push yourself which is what I liked most about her. Very vibrant, keeps class interesting and you can tell she loves what she teaches.

Professor Bouie was very enthusiastic and is very knowledgeable so she made the class interesting. Took this class over the summer, and I don't know if it was because she was swamped with other work, but as long as you did the work and showed an understanding of the material, she gave you full credit. Finished with a 100% in this class.

I took Professor Bouie for english 101. We only had one paper the whole semester and the rest were easy in-class assignments and the final. Easy A and she is very caring. I really recommend taking her class.

Lol. This lady let us watch Schindler's list, blackfish, a Holocaust movie and another movie throughout the year. All of which took about 90% of class up. Otherwise, she makes you sit and talk in groups about nothing lol.

She truly was a strict English teacher (full disclosure, I took her as an honors teacher), and will make you truly earn whatever grade you receive. You will not get out of her honors course without working hard. That being said, she was extremely fair and worked with students often. She doesn't always show up to her office hours on time, however.

Professor Bouie is a good professor. I had to retake English 101, so I was nervous when I took her class. She is not a super tough grader and the papers are not hard. Very understanding when I did not meet the requirements for a paper at the deadline and allowed me to turn it in the next day.

Professor Bouie is truly not as horrible as people describe her out to be. She is a tough grader but an honest one. If you put no real effort into your work dont be expecting a good grade. Very slow at grading papers tho. Very understanding to personal situations in peoples lives. I took her class online due to covid

Professor Bouie was always helpful and didn't grade hard at all. The only thing my class was assigned was five essays for the whole semester. She answers her email quickly and tries her best to explain one's question. Overall, as long as you try on essays, you will be guaranteed a great grade.

Super fun and easy class to take if you love literature. She always gave good feedback and answered emails within a decent time. I liked engaging with the prompts given for the discussion boards and essays!

One major research paper as the final, refers to class novel as primary source. There are very few assignments so just be thorough in the discussions and research component assignments.
