Very Personable. Good sense of Humor
Outlines the tests for you, and prepares students well for the tests
VERY good teacher, relatively easy as long as u pay attention and take notes. She's very nice and helpful and easy-going.
Good lecturer. Very helpful and easy going.Must take notes. Field trips enlightening. Learn a huge amount about the world you walk in every day.
Took her last spring. Great teacher. Interesting and obvious cares a lot. It doesn't hurt that she is hot too!
I hate BIo so it sucked for me and I got a C. But she is nice and friendly, she loves biology-pay attention and go to the field trips you will do fine.
Good teacher. If u go to class and take notes u will get a b on the test. she lets u know whats on the test. Her teaching style is one of a 7th grade science teacher, she goes slow and gives u a chance to learn and not just frantic note taking.
Very orginazed teacher, always on schedule.
She is always in a good mood. She is a fun teacher. I had marine bio with her i never studied, didn't do our only project and still got a C+.
Very nice lady. Completely clear on what she expects. Follow study guide for each exam and they will be easy.
Enjoyed the class, learned a lot

One of the most kind hearted ladies I've ever met. Extremely educated and always in a great mood. She would actually spend hours on the phone with me trying to get me to understand specific concepts and questions I had. I hope the rest of my Bio teachers are going to be like her.
One of the BEST instructors over there at Grossmont! This is an A+ Instructor, anyone who can't pass this class with this Professor just must of rode the short bus in high school. All you need to do is be there, and BE THERE for every class and it's pretty much a guaranteed pass for your bio G.E. re
The semester started out okay but her lectures became confusing. She talked a lot and didn't really give you anything to take notes on, just a lot of rambling. If you like a visual outline type of thing I would suggest not taking this class. She is also an attendance nazi.
I had 2 D's and one F before taking the last test, but I made it and I passed the class. Mrs Dudley is very Kind and helpful. Furthermore, you will be a stupid if you can't pass her class. In addition, she has a sexy voice.
Shes a fun teacher, I actually stayed awake in her lectures because I thought she was entertaining.
Nice lady, well educated and intelligent, could think more about evolution, since like most she speaks the commonly held beliefs of our time without thinking about the rationality of such beliefs. Thoughtful research into the validity of evolutionist arguments in the class would be much appreciated.
I felt that she was extremely confusing. She doesn't explain things thoroughly. Whenever students ask questions she gets irritated and is condensending. This class was by far the most difficult for me- I have always recieved A's & B's throughout college needless to say not in her class!donttakeit
She's a great teacher. The subject is hard, but having her as a teacher makes it enjoyable. She loves what she does and it shows. As with any science class you take it IS a lot of hard work.
She is extremely arrogant and condescending when you ask questions, which makes her very intimidating to be around. She likes to be surrounded by men, which is why her entire class is males and she likes to hear herself talk. Subject is not hard but her attitude is horrible. Stay away!!!
requires a lot of textbooks and, of course, reading. She is always up talking and notes are neccessary.
Very nice teacher, is very much into Biology and has lots of good examples. If you dont miss a class and pay attention you should do fine. It does require a little bit of work. But its worth it shes a great teacher.
She is well educated in Marine Biology, though she was pretty scatter brained. It was hard to follow her a lot of times and she talks A LOT while explaining the lab exercises. She is arrogant and is unapproachable. The class was challenging because of everything you have to memorize, but it's not awful. Glad I passed it, that's all I can say.
She's a hard one to rate. I liked her, not really the subject. She's not arrogant though, she's just not going to tolerate half-arsed work on material she covers/recommends. Slightly ditsy, but overall she make the effort to get the course information available to everyone. I recommend taking to her during class hours.
Easy class. Quiz each week in lab but she gives extra credit on each quiz and even drops one quiz. There is also extra credit on the tests. She is very informative and you just need to be sure to take notes and study each week and you will do great. Does have a few field trips but easy homework for those trips. Great class to get an A.
Easy Easy Easy. This is one of the easiest sscience classes. Extra credit on weekly quizes and on all tests. Lab is straight forward and ask if you need help she is great with helping. Unlike most other profs, she stays in the room with you during the labs so you can always know what you are doing. Nice woman and great class.
Very friendly. Tells stories of her kids. Willing to help if not too busy. Difficult tests. Do all assignments.
Horrible teacher rambles on and on about things that are not even on the tests. Tests are hard, even if you take a test you still have a quiz when you get to lab to many field trips throughout the class. unfair grading very obvious she has favorites recommendation is not to take the class
She's alright.
I think she's great. You have to study though! Not an easy A for me but her enthusiasm for the subject was catching. I learned a lot and worked hard for the A.
I found this class relatively easy. Yes, there was a lot of work, but overall Prof. Dudley is a great teacher. I also found the labs interesting. A much better alternative to the regular biology that I dropped.
for those of you who want a challenge...this class is kinda difficult but only because there is so much to learn and memorize and so forth...the prof. is pretty chill...but can be a bit intimidating at times..make sure u get the yellow book..you will find EVERYTHING in it that u need to pass the class...there are 4 exams..and 3 field trips..do all!
Professor Dudley is easily one of my favorite teachers to date. Not only is she a fantastic teacher and extremely knowledgeable, she makes an honest effort to actually get to know her students (keeping in mind that she has upwards of 100). I would recommnd her class to anyone.
She's on of the best teachers I've ever had. She makes an effort to get to know her students and really knows what she's talking about. I would recommend her class to anyone!
I thought I would hate this class but it turned out to be my favorite of the year!
Dudley was a great biology professor, one of the best professors I have had in college. She made an effort to keep us engaged in the class and got to know her students more than any other professor I have had. I enjoyed her class and actually wish I could have her again, but I really have no interest in taking more science classes. Oh well. lol
Very friendly, funny, and helpful. Lectures are straightforward and easy to understand regardless of previous biology experience. I would ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND her class to anybody!
Professor Dudley is incredibly knowledgeable. You won't find a better prepared teacher to instruct you in marine biology. She has a ton of field experience and education under her belt and it shows. She is a difficult teacher, but it is a difficult subject. Take her if you really want to learn!
Professor Dudley is extremely thorough! She is a stickler for attendance and will not hesitate to drop you if you're late too often or don't show up. She has a lot of experience in Bio and Marine Bio so she has LOTS to teach. Funny, quirky, informative, disciplined & over-all challenging. Don't expect an easy-A, she makes you WORK for it! Take her!
This class is definitely manageable. My worst subject is biology or anything science related, but the teacher is very knowledgeable and WANTS you to do well, and will push you to get that passing grade. do your work, study hard, take the class!
She's a great teacher. I would recommend taking her class because she's informative and knows what she's talking about. It's work but she's always willing to talk you through it. The only problem I had was that she goes on tangents sometimes but her lectures aren't hard to follow.
Prof Dudley really knows her stuff. If you want the grade you will definitely have to TRY but it is feasible. Definitely have to go to class, there's a quiz once every week, and she can be rather rude at times but after you get to know her she's pretty nice. She is very serious about her work. Closest to UC caliber I've seen at community college.
the class is very hard because there is A LOT of material, but it's possible to get a good grade. study A LOT. she doesn't give homework other than lab work to finish. doesn't use textbook much. quiz in every lab. talk to her about anything you need, she's super helpful
shes a good teacher but the class is really hard you have to study to get a good grade and theres so much material but shes super helpful. Take her
As much as I like marine biology, Dr. Dudley did make the course difficult mainly because she wants you to throughly understand the IN DEPTH material instead of generalizing it. The labs are legit but you need to study those two for a weekly quiz. The best part of the class though is you get to go on field trips.
Difficult class if you are not well versed in biology, but the teacher is excellent. She is very passionate about her work, and explains things well. Expect a good amount of studying and review to pass the class. Accompanying lab is usually interesting, not very difficult. Just requires you to pay attention.
Adequate professor teaches concepts making them easy to understand. There is not that much material but expect a lot of memorizing in the last 2 exams for the animal taxons. This class is hard but Dudley has good teaching skills.
This is a decent class. I am not a science person. For the most part she is very straight forward about what she expects from you. If you have a question it pretty hard to approach her because she is very intimidating. She becomes pretty stern when you ask her something that you are already expected to know. YOU WILL NEED TO STUDY! Just work hard
If you look up the word difficult in the dictionary guaranteed this class would be the definition. The professor makes the material in course more confusing than necessary and rarely ever provides explanations. If you have a question don't bother asking it because she is not going answer it. My advice, you need a lab course DONT TAKE THIS ONE.
Really tough class. I took it for the gen ed requirement and barely made out with a B. She is a good teacher and you will learn a lot. However, if you have no interest in the subject I wouldn't take it. Do the study guides and really pay attention to the bold faced items. No homework, just quizzes and test.
Vinny is an interesting character, but her passion and dedication to the marine science shows when she lectures. In the field, she is not afraid to get dirty and gives you the opportunity to learn about animals you've never seen! She goes off topic now and again and loves to talk, but she is so helpful, and gives you guidance. I loved her course!
Professor Dudley is a funny and cool teacher and Uer nails always look fabulous. She is strict at times and her class criteria overall is tough, but as long as you take notes and study, the class becomes incredibly interesting. She shows neat videos to make the class more entertaining, and also labs are exciting and sometimes difficult, but doable.
The good, the bad, and the ugly with Dudley: Good: everything on the test is covered in the lecture and labs. Just show up, I didn't even buy a textbook. Bad: if you are only taking a biology course for credit, skip this one. Loads of terms, boring content, and diagrams. Expect miserable nights of studying. The ugly: she doesn't use blackboard.
3 tests (half multiple choice, half short answer section) In lab, 5 question multiple choice quiz every week. Fill out lab exercises completely, you turn in a couple without notice. Extra credit project at the end of semester, very easy. 2 field trips to tide pools. Attendance is mandatory and if you skip, good luck catching up!!
Just like any other class, you need to study. Tests are tough if you don't put effort into studying. If you're interested in learning marine bio or biology in general her lectures are very detailed and interesting. If you do raise your hand she'll try her best to answer them. Lots of labs, some get boring. Dissection labs can be rejuvenating.
This was by far the best class I have ever taken. Mrs Dudley is an amazing teacher, she may come off strict but she just wants you to succeed. I barely used the textbook and I never studied and I got an A. She offers a lot of extra credits and bonus points. The tests are straight forwards and you do a lot of cool stuff. Recommend this course!!
The reviews for her are not accurate. Dudley is the most boring, confusing, rude professor I've ever had. She puts her foot in her mouth A LOT when it comes to talking to students. She isn't nice at all and talks to us like we are nothing. Most of the work in lab is unexplained or poorly explained and she does not prepare you for the tests. AVOID!
Professor Dudley was an amazing bio professor. I was bummed when the class came to an end. Ask questions on topics you don't understand and pay attention during lecture, she always has time to talk to you and in my experience enjoys a student who questions topics not discussed thoroughly in lectures.
Professor Dudley isn't the nicest to people although she was nice to me for some reason lol I think she doesn't like when people ask her dumb questions that's the only negative part of her is she can give you attitude but she's just strict that's just how she is she Isn't here to play games. It's A LOT OF LECTURE AND NOTES be prepared to work hard!
She's super sweet, and even gives the class a few laughs each lecture. Lectures are long, take a LOT of notes. Tests are the majority of your grade and can be extremely hard, especially if you do not study days before. Overall, she is great at teaching.
Gets in your face a lot. Treats you as if you're still in Middle School. I wouldn't recommend her class at all. Less than half of the class stayed for her class before I left.
She's really nice if you get on her good side. The class is hard and she's very passionate about the subject, so be prepared to work really hard! Talks forever but if you start your work while she talks in lab you'll get out faster; take good notes in lecture and you'll be fine!
Don't take this class if you have no business learning about marine biology. Tried to reach her many times regarding my grade and if there were things I could do to better it but she was never any help. She loves to talk about herself and is always making rude comments about perfectionists and ppl with OCD me. Not very nice and voice is annoyin
Dudley is an amazing professor who cares about students and is naturally funny. She's very enthusiastic and passionate about marine biology! Be sure to show up to lectures because those notes will be important. The labs she assigns are incredibly fun and informational, especially the field labs. Not much effort beyond notes and occasional reading.
Prof. Dudley's class is hard, but it isn't really her fault. Marine bio just isn't as fun as it sounds. Attendance to class and labs is mandatory. The labs are gross. The class is easier if you do the reading. She's very intelligent and the tests reflect the lecture material. Outside field trips were boring. This class is loaded with females.
A very smart professor with lots of intellectual qualities, yes with too much writing in her class also 3 or 4 heavy tests and like 12 lab quizzes but at the end a professor with to much knowledge in biology and zoology
This was a great course. At first I thought it would be difficult because of the diverse nature of the ocean, however the professor provided all the tools needed to succeed. She also didn't have any hidden or tricky questions and the course was very straightforward. I also walked away with a better understanding of the way tides worked.
She's a really good teacher, just go to class take notes and you will pass easily. You get a study guide and a lecture guide that are both super helpful for the tests, there isn't much homework but you must attend the lab or you won't pass. Overall its an easy and interesting class as long as you put in a bit of effort.
She missed a field trip and made the students do it again to make up the work. She talked about herself a lot, too. Generally speaking, I found that the best way to learn the subject was to ignore her. The class itself was easy (especially since she has 60-79% as a C, with A and B being normal), but not because of her teaching by any means.
She was like a guide introducing us to this brand new world that you can tell she was passionate about. Was the class hard? Yes! However, its better to learn from someone with her knowledge about the ocean than just out of a textbook. Do not miss the field trips. Theyre incredible!
I was not happy with Mrs. Dudleys teaching. Her lectures are pretty bland, and her grading was very hard. Her labs are rushed and take forever. I would not recommend taking this class if you're looking for an easy A...
I was very disappointed with Mrs. Dudleys class!! she is very passive aggressive and very monotone during lectures. During labs she talks for a good hour n a half before you even start the labs. I do not recommend if you're looking for a bio teacher that is approachable and wiling to work with you.
Horrible.. no passion to actually teach. Seems like she likes to assert her authority or dominance onto students. Constantly makes kids feel uncomfortable in the middle of a lecture. Very unprofessional presence in the classroom. Doesnt know what partial credit means. All She is good for is putting your test threw the scantron.
It's always nice when you get a teacher who is obviously experienced in their field outside of teaching, and professor Dudley is that. The only negative that I've experienced in class is that labs usually have a long block of explanation that is only done because not everyone in the class reads the directions beforehand. The dissections are smelly!
Oh my GOODNESS - I just want to say that Professor Dudley was the best professor I have had. However, if you are looking for an "easy A" this is not the class for you. You need to show up, do your work, pay attention (this is easy because she is hilarious and a great storyteller). I got the book but really didnt use it - all info in class on PP.
When I first started the class I swore I would give her a bad review, but as the semester progressed she began to grow on me. She can be very firm with students who are not paying attention and put them on the spot, but she has a heart of gold and I ended up enjoying her class. Field trips are fun, you get to go to the beach (:
Dont waste your time with this professor. Nice person, but terrible teacher. If youre not a strong test taker, you will not survive. Also have fun purchasing a brand new text book, Lab Manual, Lab Guide AND online software (which you wont even use) no opportunity to earn any points other than the 3 100 point exams and quizzes every Mon/Wed.
This was an online class and each week, there were anywhere from 2 hours to upwards of 3-4 hours of lectures you had to watch. This is added on top of the weekly lab assignment you have to do. There is a quiz every week, but they're all open note. Tests aren't open note and make sure you study or it's gonna be pretty difficult.
1000% recommend this teacher to anybody. I was so nervous to take Bio online but she made it so easy. Yes it takes time to watch her lectures but thats with any bio class. Every week you have a 10 question lab quiz and around every 4 weeks is an exam. Stay on the work and you have no problem passing this class. She is amazing and incredible.
This teacher is not organized, doesn't help much with trying to get you back on track. I had to take this class for credit... but wow regret not waiting another term to take another teacher.
Probably the worst College class I have ever taken. Terrible organization of the class, quizzes have nothing to do with the lectures, overall not a good experience.
Beware of labs if you do not complete the assignment before lab you will be quick out and half to come to next days lab.
Do not take this class if you value yourself, your time, or your money. The 2 textbooks I had to buy were both written by her, not awful but red flag #1. She is so disorganized and despite knowing her stuff, is not fit to be teaching students. Her video lectures are long and rambling and make you question if getting that W is such a bad thing.
I would not recommend her to anyone, be careful, she makes mistakes and blames them on students!!
I have taken about 120 credits. She is the worst. From time to time I remember how horrible Virginia treated people, even years later. She frequently belittles students. She even tried to embarass students infront of the class by "diagnosing" them with mental diseases. I came back on here to make sure people know how horrible she is. Don't do it.
I had to report her for racism. This teacher was incredibly rude and degrading. She treated black students in her class with very clear agression. I felt unsafe and she made me cry several times. Good luck asking this teacher a question without her making you feel horrible. I studying my ass off and barely passed with class.
Virginia is a terrible person. She gets angry when students ask questions. She requires you to buy a textbook she wrote atop the required textbooks. I submitted a complaint to the department head over the way she treats students (She is the only teacher I ever felt the need to do that with). She should be fired. Do NOT take her class.
She is just awful. Her class was 3 hours long and she talks so slow, and none of it makes sense unless you study it on your own time. No point in even showing up to her class other than the fact that she dropped 6 students because they missed class. Argued my reasoning for missing class for a jewish holiday and had to contact department head.
This class was a challenge but it was weird how the teacher made us find answers without explaining them to us when we had questions. I should have gotten an A since I followed the chart correctly and she would not tell me how to get to the right answer bc I did get it right but its cool. #washed champ yall stay safe tho.
