VERY VERY HARD! If you are not good in math do NOT take her. She does not help you, she has an I don't care if you fail attitude. Even if you go and talk to her she does not care/help. I do NOT recommend her to anyone!!!
She is very nice and really cares about each individual student... she is not the easiest teacher but if u do all homework and quizes you can get an A
I really enjoyed having her. you have to apply yourself though. but she is very willing to help you
One of the best teachers I have ever had. Will all ways look back as her being a steping stone to my success
She's a great teacher and is very kind and fair. Even though i've only had a week of her so far!
i did NOT like her at all! i made amazing grades in high school math and found her class extremly difficult just because she wouldnt help and had the i dont care if you fail attitude!

WONDERFUL teacher! Hands down, she is the best teacher I have had at SLU so far. She is very fair and always VERY willing to help each student. She is very understanding and helpful. I made terrible grades in high school math, but I got an easy A in her class. GREAT teacher!
awesome teacher and willing to help if you are willing to learn. if not for her i would have been in trouble.
she was great
She was a difficult teacher. She knew what she was doing but she moved very fast!!
Horrible!
Awesome teacher; very helpful and always willing to repeat anything for you. go to class, do homework, and smile at her a lot, she'll love you. she's really really nice! i decent in math and got an A. She's awesome!
I had an amazing perfect teacher who went on sick leave and this lady took her place. shes too fast, she doesnt explain things or tell you what lesson you are learning. she gives sample problems and 3 seconds to complete it. boring. and her speech is ridiculously annoying. just a miserable class. steer clear!!
She is very helpful and always willing to go over any problems or examples. She explains things very well and thoroughly. Her speech is a little annoying though but she is a very good teacher.
The woman pretty much rocks beyond measure. She goes over everything thoroughly...she'll help you until you understand - even outside of class...all recommended assignments are on Blackboard, but I recommend going to class so you'll understand...she's not boring...she's the SWEETest heart...GO TO HER OFFICE (she'll see that you want to do well).
She complicates a very simple math lesson and her grading is horrible. I had amazing math scores and grades in high school and her class seems difficult to me because of her teaching.
Her voice can tend to get a little annoying, but she used the weirdest phrases. It's funny, though. She does everything on the board, so pay attention and you'll be fine. Take GOOD notes. The math department makes most of the tests, so don't get mad at her for them. She is very helpful if you ask. DO ALL WORKBOOK AND WEBASSIGN assignments! It helps
works everything out on the board. web assign and workbook pages are a big part of the class. bring your book to class she will be very helpful if you ask and she knows that you care about your grade. she is a really nice lady.
She goes slow for those who aren't that good at math. And she keeps the material light and save the harder material for the homework that you complete in the math labs. Be sure to attend the labs regularly because it makes up most of your grade.
I love this teacher. She is very helpful and very nice. I missed a homework due date and she changed the due date so I could finish it. She also explains things very well.
She doesn't put up with any disrespect. Electronics are not allowed; definitly old school. However, she is very helpful if you are confused.
Best teacher I ever had!!! She is more than willing to help you out every chance you get as long as she see you putting fourth the effort as well if you go in there with an I don't care attitude that's what you will get in return from her. I would recommend her to everyone :)
She will do anything in her power to help you pass. She will open your homework and quizzes back up just so you can make better grades.
She gives good notes. She always wants to help when anyone has questions. Sometimes she calls on random people to answer a problem, but she won't be mad if you get it wrong. If she catches you on your phone she will throw you out of class.
I'd recommend this teacher to anybody! She knows her stuff, and really wants students to gain a familiarity with subject matter. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it REALLY helps to go to class. She doesn't work many examples but will if asked. Class is weighted. Everything is done on mymathlab.com which can be a pain until you get familiar with it
i came into this class without knowing about the lab hours that were included. They sort of hit me hard at first, but they really mean a lot if you want a good grade in the class. the instructor was the sweetest lady ever, and she would assist you in any way that she could. I would totally recommend her. she even pushes assignments back :)
She is a great teacher. Has a good personality and is very helpful. Dont talk or txt cause she will kick out of class if you do.
Mrs. Adelmann is really sweet and reminds me of my grandmother. On the first day of class she's super scary and lays down the law, but as the semester progresses and you stick with it, she gets sillier and more conversational. If you text in class, she will indeed throw you out. But it keeps the class focused and positive.
She is great! She acts all mean the first day of class but she is not mean at all! She is so funny and very helpful. She will say she doesn't move due dates but she moves them more than any other teacher I know! I suggest taking her!
I don't reccomend her. She begins each answer to anyone's question with "Well you should already know how to do this." She has the right intentions, but she just isn't that helpful. Definitely don't text. Not awful, but try for someone else first.
Seriously amazing teacher. Will answer any questions you might have. She's a little intimidating at first, but is really sweet and funny after you get to know her. I would take her again in a heart beat.
Mrs. Adelman can be very intimidating, but once you get into the semester, she's so great! She is more than willing to go over any questions you have or with any problems you had on homework. She asks repeatedly if there are any questions before she moves on. She is perfectly fine with moving back due dates, you just have to ask her!
She is the sweetest professor ever and is so helpful! She pushes back due dates all the time and will answer any questions you have, you just have to ask! She has a no nonsense policy on phones, but if you are respectful and try, she will do anything to help you! Definitely recommend.
Very friendly and nice. Follow her rules in class and you won't have any issues with her, testshwquizzes are online so she can't control content but she always pushes the dates back to help. While you can miss class occasionally, unless you're great at math I would recommend attending so you understand. One of the best math teachers I've ever had
I love Mrs. Adelmann! I would take her again in a heartbeat if I could. She helped me out so much when it came to understanding the material and was always willing to meet one on one with if you need extra help before tests. She seems strict the first day, but she just wants the students respect.
SHE IS SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!!
amazing lady.
I love this teacher so much. She is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet. She knows what she is talking about and is willing to help you understand the material. She moves back the homework if you need extra time and is not afraid to admit how hard math truly is. I wish she taught all of my classes. She is the best. I would take her again if I could.
Best teacher Ive ever had. This course is very difficult & she made it a breeze for me She is a good hearted & as sweet as it gets. She knows her stuff & how to teach it. She will answer all your questions Never imagined math would be my favorite class. youre dumb if you dont take Adelmann. Oh, & u WILL respect her. Not an option. DO NOT SKIP CLASS
she was an amazing teacher. always willing to help you out and prepares you for the tests. there is a lot of homework and tests are hard, but with her help it is a lot easier. i would definitely recommend her!
She is the sweetest professor I've had! She truly cared about my grade and is very willing to answer questions in her office and in class. Highly recommend!
The greatest math teacher I have ever had. She has a really special way when it comes to explaining topics, and it always manages to click! Math has never been my best subject, and Math 161 is a hard class, but Mrs. Adelmann was there for me. She will go over any problems you have, and is very good at extending assignments so that everyone can pass
Mrs. Aldemann was a great teacher. She always extended assignments when needed, and went over ANY question you had. Math 161 requires a lot of math lab hours, and I honestly feel that math lab prepared me more for test than in class did. But she is a great teacher and I would truly recommended anyone to take her.
VERY good math teacher. Explains things really well and very open to help and to answering questions. Very available for out of class help. Super funny and easy to listen to. Very caring and so cute. Take her. Just do it.
Let me start by saying I like math and it's one of my better subjects. I loved having Mrs. Virginia. She's super sweet, although she may seem intimidating. She moves fast through the lessons, but if you have a question, she will gladly help. She will reopen homeworks and push back due dates if needed. She takes attendance seriously though.
I took Math 161 with her, so the amount of work wasn't her choice; we had to use My Math Lab. She will answer any of your questions and teaches material thoroughly. The only "issue" I had was her pacing. She teaches quite slowly, but this may be good for some students.
She is a great professor and explains math super well. She is also very willing to go over concepts more than once and push back due dates if students are struggling. Very caring, but she doesn't tolerate laziness. Overall, she is one of the best math teachers I've ever had.
She is AWESOME! She comes off a little harsh and you may think about dropping but DO NOT DROP. She is very passionate about math and teaches you the easiest way possible. She is so sweet and funny once you get used to her. Very helpful in Math Lab. Never had a math teacher as wonderful as her.
As an Education major I was uniformed that I could take Math 105 instead of this course, so I ended up dropping this course. She moves through things very quickly, and you have TONS of homework, but she does welcome questions.
Very hard class but she is the best teacher for this class. She is funny and very helpful. I loved her, she does move very quickly and you have to go to class to pass. Math lab was my best friend this semester and my study group for that class too. The practice test will help alot if done over and over again.
Nobody really likes math, but she made it tolerable and easier for me to understand. She's very sweet and willing to help you if it's obvious you make an effort in the class (i.e: go to the math lab, attend class, etc.). She's very open to questions (before, during, and after class) and moving due dates around to accommodate you if you need it
She can seem intimidating at first, but it is only because she wants the best for her students. No electronic devices! She will call you out if seen with it. She gives all the tools needed to pass, and she shows you how to apply them. She's lenient with due dates. She's very helpful in class and in the math lab. Highly recommended!
This class is not mandatory, so after a couple weeks I started not attending. The math lab IS mandatory though, and it is three hours a week, and helpful if you use your time wisely. She says to take the practice test many times since "it should help", and it helped the first test, but afterwards not so much. Make sure you know everything from hws.
Very helpful and will push back due dates if necessary. Kind of intimidating but very funny. Shows a few examples in class and expects you to ask questions in the math lab since its required anyway. Willing to work with students and help if its needed. Doesnt like phones. Easy to work with as long as you show up and do all assignments
The course is pretty intense but she explains things as best as she can. Shes helpful & is open to questions and goes over homework questions if you ask. NO PHONES. Showing up to class is not mandatory but very helpful.
Great teacher. Explains problems well. There is a lot of homework but it is manageable.
She came off very stern at first but honestly she is a very nice teacher at heart. She wants to see you do well IF you try. She tells you like it is, and is very honest. Loved her class as long as you pay attention.
Ms. Adelmann is an amazing teacher. I loved her class. She doesnt tolerate cellphones but youllbe so busy taking notes that you wont even notice. Class is just 50 minutes and went by really fast. She uses examples that comes directly from mathxl.
She treated us like children and really hates when you have your cell phone out, but sheaves actually a pretty good teacher. She makes things easier to understand. She also gives bonus at the end of the semester. Other than that the math is gonna do a number on you.
Mrs. Adelmann is a good teacher but considering if your in math 161 you only have 50 minutes of class she cant teach you everything you need to know. A lot of teaching yourself. She can be rude as well though. It just depends on how her day is going.
She made the material seem much more complicated than it actually is. I think I'm fairly good at math, but if you know you struggle with math, don't take her. I ended up skipping every class and just teaching myself. Lowest test grade was a 95 for me, so if you apply yourself it's doable. But I would not take her if you know you need a good teacher
Her tone towards people can be pretty rude. Her teaching is decent but if you know that you struggle in math, I would not recommend taking her. I have a high A in her class rn bc I learned this last year in high school. She does try to help students by pushing some assignments back. She drops two lowest quiz and homework grade.
Due to the fact that the class is only 50 min, she did not get to go into much. She only goes over 1or2 examples per each type of problem. Majority of the class is done on Pearson. She can come across as rude at times but is a sweet lady if you talk to her one-on-one and is willing to help you. Dont expect to ever get out of class early.
Mrs. Adelman is an absolutely wonderful professor and person. If you care about your studies and show her that, she will go above and beyond for you. She is very serious about showing up on time, and staying off of your phone during lectures (which you should do anyway). The course is not easy, but she made it enjoyable. 10/10 recommend.
She is a very good teacher for someone who is confident and good at math. She means well, I think, but can be very challenging for people who are not as strong in math. There was an intense amount of homework and if math is not you strong suit she may not be the one for you. If you do take her though she does do help outside of class.
She is terrible!!!! Do not take her she is a terrible teacher. Gives a lot of homework and barely helps out. Tests are extremely difficult and she can be very rude. I said bless you and she kicked both of us out and didnt let us come back for 2 weeks. This made me fail the class. Do not take her you will regret it.
very sarcastic and rude. She does not tolerate cellphones and if you are a minute late she wont let you in. She is a good teacher but overall bad attitude and does not help you when you ask for it. Be ready to take notes and beware of her attitude.
Mrs. Adelmann is a wonderful teacher. She explains things clearly. If you miss something and ask for help she will willingly give you all the help you need. She expects you to apply yourself to do well. Act like a mature young adult, don't use your cell phone, don't be late, and you will succeed in her class. I would take her over and over again.
Love this lady! Amazing! You have to work hard to understand the material, but she makes it doable. Youll need a tutor and some extra help, but work hard and youll get it. Very caring and understanding. Shes a been there, done that lady so shell be generous on a late assignment IF youve tried your best. Reach out to her!!
This lady knows her stuff! Can easily learn from her. Extends homework when she notices everyone struggling.
Everything you do is on pearson and she goes over how to do it all in class. If you are struggling with a problem, she'll show you how to do it. She seems intimidating at first but she's really nice and cares about her students. Make sure to do the practice test multiple times and you'll do good on the exams.
Loveddd this woman!! She may seem scary and strict but she cares a lot deep down. She may call you out in class but its just her way of pushing us to succeed. She always encourages us to ask questions since she does move pretty quickly through the material, class is only 50 mins and everything else is through Pearson. DO THE PRACTICE TESTS!!!!
She may seem strict and mean, but she really cares. There is a lot of homework on Pearson, but she also offers practice tests. The practice tests really help, and if you complete them all, she gives a bonus point to move your overall grade up. The two lowest quizzes and homework get dropped. Just pay attention and stay on top of the online stuff.
worst attitude i have ever experienced a teacher have, she expects you to know too much and is difficult to follow along with in class. the way she acted towards students made it impossible for me to learn, i dreaded going to class every other day
This teacher may seem tough but when you get to know her she is really willing to help her students if you can show that your trying lots of homework but its worth it
Mrs. Adelmann is one of the sweetest old ladies I have ever met. She may seem tough to crack at first, but she really does care for her students and wants to see us pass. She is strict on her no cell phone rule, but you'll be so busy taking notes you wont notice. Class in only 45-50 minutes. If you plan on passing, then go to class.
Mrs. Adelmann may come across as rude to begin with, but don't let that bother you. She genuinely wants to see you succeed. If you have questions she will answer them in class. Before coming to class watch the pre-lecture video; if you don't you'll be lost. She doesn't like phones so keep them away. Stay on top of your homework and you'll do fine.
If you don't do well in math, I would not recommend this professor. She teaches very fast through things and you mainly learn on your own.
This woman is truly an angel! She pushed me so hard to finish a class I swore I would fail. She makes you work really hard for you grade but when the class is over you will have actually learned. She can come off as sassy or rude, but that's just her sense of humor. Everyone should take Mrs. Adelmann!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! If you can avoid taking this class, you should. The math is hard and there is endless amounts of homework. Mrs. Virginia had a bad attitude and did the bare minimum to help students.
She is extremely sweet and started every class with going over problems people needed help with. She teaches you in class, but everything else is on you. You can contact her and ask for help, but she does not offer extra credit. You have to stay on top of her work!
Mrs. Adelman is such a sweet lady! I have always struggled with math and she went above and beyond to help me understand. This class is HARD! So keep up with your homework. It's all on you to learn the material. She teaches the topics very well and always answers questions. She is helpful so use her office hours! This class takes a lot of work.
She was fine. She talks very professional and moves quickly. But, shes willing to answer questions and help out.
math is hard for me, always has been. Now while she did help me out with some things i didn't understand, i still did terrible in her class. She has a very strong vocabulary so she is difficult to understand and you really are on your own. If you have a strong math background you'll be fine.
She is very passive aggressive with the way she lectures.
I liked Dr. Adelmann, she for sure is willing to help out with any problems you have. Though to be honest you will probably be teaching yourself most of the material and problems. She has an archaic sense of humor and has a strict phone policy,"Ok lets put the phones away, put them in your school bags." Get ready to hear that everyday.
The entire class materials like Homework, Quizzes, and Tests are digital. If you don't rely of partial credit to pass, you'll be fine BUT IF NOT oh boy.. Yeah, this class is very very hard. Not her fault tho, its the department head. Very sweet lady but professional too. Just do ALL of the assignments. Trust me you need all the buffer grades possib
Ms. Adelmann herself is very nice, but I absolutely hated her class. Her tests are worth 68% of your grade, and one failed test brought me from an A to an F. I had to drop her class because of this. Pearson is very particular about how you enter answers, so the wrong format can result in the wrong answer, and she doesn't give partial credit
She had good lectures and answered all of my questions during class, the homework wasn't too hard but the tests were insanely hard. She drops your lowest test grade, homework grade, and quiz grade. If you ask questions during class and show up, you will pass the course.
