Daily quizzes but some are curved. No tests. Most of grade is based on a semester long project which seems hard at first but really isnt. Very very helpful if you have any problems at all. Highly reccommend

A very good teacher. Picky grader on Essays. Overall she is very nice, and understanding, make sure u do ur hw, and study keep all ur papers because her tests contain alot of the cw dittos we get.

Daily quiz. But don't let that get you down...it actually helped my grade out in the end. She's a nice person, but a hard teacher. Since she knows everything about the subject, it seems easy for her...but it's hard for us.

Wanted to drop this class the first day, but it ended up being my favorite. There are quizzes every day, but she provides study guides that have all the quiz questions. Tests difficult, but having quizzes every day makes studying easy. Great personality!

I hated the class and her the first day. But she has really grown on me... I think she's the best professor I've had. The daily quizes are straight from the lectures, and the lectures are all online. Very clear about what she wants. Take her class, its very interesting!

Read the lecture notes online before class! You really don't need to take notes during class but she does elaborate on teh notes with stuff that is on the tests!

At first I hated Professor Thompson's class, but by the end of the semester I actually liked it and her. She gives a lot of quizzes, and you have to study her notes she gives you to do well on them. Overall, I learned a lot from her class, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Over the course of the semester i have gotten to like the class.Alot of quizzes and map quizzes but soo easy as long as u go over the practice quizzes.dont have to take notes during class much.can print out stuff on class schedule online.nice lady easy to get and A as long as u study.

If you have no interest in this class, DO NOT TAKE IT. It was very hard to get up in the morning to go to this class. You have a quiz almost every day or every week. The Map Quizzes are easy but the others are very hard and thorough. She teaches like it's an upper level class but gives you a few chances for extra credit. Most people still got a C.

Good teacher!!!! She expects you to come with a basic (and I mean basic) knowledge of math) I almost fainted when one student didn't know that a billion is a thousand million...Dr. Thompson seems to have a good sense of humor....she is much funnier than she realizes...but she is a tough grader....and can you believe it...spelling counts...

Like others have said, she expects college students to know that 500 million and half a billion are infact the same. She truly teaches the material, as opposed to just lecturing. Considering that this is an introductory class, you truly learn a lot. Also quite funny.

Believe it or not, before i took this class i hated geography...but now I enjoy it. Its a good class that everybody should take. She is somewhat of a hard grader. You have a quiz everyday..relax only 10 pts. based on the previous lecture..and 5 map quizzes...which are easy. Make sure you study and she does give you many chances for extra credit.

for a GenEd she expects you to konw alot, but shes a really good teacher. You have to know SO much for her tests, but as long as you know the general IDEA u don't need to so very specific stats. Use the map on the tests

My favorite teacher at TU! It is a difficult class, but you actually learn. She is very funny, knowledgeable, laid-back, and extremely helpful. Her grading system is very fair. You have to study for the tests, but there is no question as to what will be on it. She gives out review sheets and gives 110% of herself to this class. Highly recommended!

I liked her a lot. She actually made geography interesting. The only thing that was a little tiring was having a quiz every day and you cant make them up if you miss that class. The tests were a little hard but not if you study well.

Dr. Thompson teaches a unique class in that there are no tests or final. Instead, each class or so has a quiz, which counts towards your final. There are also some computer (GIS) assignments, and a major neighborhood project about Baltimore, MD. Most people will like this class, and Dr. Thompson is awesome!

boring class, but very easy. You have a quiz everyday, but its only on the readings you read for every class. tests are just like the quizes just more detailed. didn't learn in class, did all the work out of class reading and doing the study guides

easy quiz everyday, covers a lot of material, but exams are easy. make sure you pay attention to the info. taught in the beginning, makes the rest of the material easy to understand. Oh and know how many zeros are in a million, billion, etc. Easy A.

she expects you to learn a great deal over a short period, but she does her best to make sure you get it by giving you the info in class then giving it to you again online.i'd take her class. you love her because you hate how hard she pushes you you'll appreciate it in the end.

This class requires a lot of time outside of class. its a lot of material and she quizes you on it everyday. however, she is a fair grader and if you put the time into the class it is possible to get an a.

although the class is extremely demanding but if you do the work it is really easy and youll learn to love her regardless of the fact her class requires so much work i would definatly reccommend this class but be prepared to work

Dr. Thompson's class is pretty hard. But if you are willing to work hard, you will do extremely well. There are lots of chances for extra credit, and she is so helpful outside of class if you go to her office hours. She's really nice and funny, people who didn't like her just weren't willing to work.

There is a quiz or test every day. The study guides are long, but they WILL prepare you. If you're looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. That said, she is an AMAZING professor. She knows what her stuff, can be funny, and is helpful. She gives you all that you need to succeed, you just need to use it. For those willing to work, I HIGHLY rec her!

great techer who knows what she is talking about. Very interseted in her subject. Quiz everyday, but that is good because it gives you better oppurtunity to get more points and make up for a failed one. Tests are easy, just study. And there is alot of extra credit.

My absolute favorite class/professor. YES it isn't an easy A and YES you will need to study for the tests. You have a quiz every day which forces you to learn the material--she drops the lowest two grades. Map Quizzes which you can retake as many times as you want. Four tests based off of the daily quizzes and plenty of extra credit opportunities!!

QUIZZES! There are daily quizzes that count for about 20% of the grade. These cannot be made up (but your two lowest grades will be dropped). These are to motivate one to show up to class and do the reading. Tests are mostly multiple choice and pretty simple. She expects you to be able to analyze geography and not just know facts. Pretty good.

she is a really great teacher!! puts all her notes online and she is sooo passionate about teaching...you take a quiz everyday which blows but just study right before class and your fine...tests are straight from the notes...miss less than 2 classes she only counts your worst test as 5% instead of 15%...BEAST TEACHER

V.T. is very passionate about Geography. She is very knowledgable and helpful. She is very clear and lets you know what she expects. As long as you do the readings, you should get an A. She is changing the layout of the course next semester though. Take her!

She demands a lot for a gen ed course. She goes fast but her lectures and notes are on line. The class is different then expected and more interesting.

Dr. T sure likes the subject a lot and that helped. Book hard to read but tests okay if you study. Posts lecture notes and they hit main points.

I loved Professor Thompson. She is clear about what she expects from you. If you pay attention, read the material and do the study guides you can get an A. This class is challenging but it is worth it because you actually learn the material.Some students say she is rude, but I disagree. She is straight forward and extremely helpful.

Great professor, clear and straightforward. she does expect a lot from students but its not hard to meet her expectations if you try. Also a great adviser, she helped me immensely over the years. People that dont like her are just really lazy.

This class is a lot of work but if you study and keep up with the lectures, you will do fine. Quizzes daily. She is very helpful and wants to see her students do well. The material is interesting. People who do not like this teacher and lazy and do not do the work.

Okay...it is not true that lazy people don't like her. I got a B in her class. This class was harder than my 400 level courses! Too much work! She is very helpful, but I would not punish anyone by saying that you should take her class. I worked my ass off in her class and studied 10hours+ per week. I did learn a lot though. Do not take her course!!

Professor Thompson is an excellent professor. She is extremely knowledgeable on her subject area and basically spells out the class for you. If you pay attention to her in the beginning of the semester, it really makes a difference. Before her class, I abhored anything social studies, but this has become one of my favorites.

Can be a tough class becuase there is so much info. Keep up with readings and studies always to do well! Daily quizzes. Easy map quizzes. Some rough exams. Cares so much about her students. Always knows your grade. Always willing to help.

It's not true that people who don't do well in this class are lazy. I worked my ass off in this class and so far I have a 73% This is harder than my A&P2 class- & that class makes me want to punch a midget- along with my 300-level nutrition class. You're better off not taking her. Take it online. As I am about to do.

She's not that hard, I guess your typical lazy college student wouldnt do so well. I spent about 30 minutes studying before each class and did well on the quizzes and About 2 hours on each test. Got a B+. and she's really nice and always willing to help

You really need to work and study for this class b/c it's a lot of information. There are quizzes every class, but if you do the online study guide that she posts you'll do fine. She is a very good professor and knows what she's talking about and she's very willing to help you. Tests are pretty hard, so definitely study. There are extra credit opps

Class requires textbook, must purchase. Super nice lady but very intimidating. If you need help go to her office hours, she is super helpful and do whatever it takes. Chapter summaries, and requires a paper on climate change. Hard grader but if you put in effort, she recognizes that.

She is an amazing teacher, you can learn a lot in her class. She's always willing to help you out and she brings out the best out of you

Excellent teacher. Fair grader with good feedback. More of a political/social class rather than science class. No hw just 4 reports that are very easy to do. A is possible if you follow her rubrics and put effort into papers. Material is actually interesting (if you're into international studies/issues)

Amazing professor. Very helpful and a fair grader. Current event article every week which we discussed with the class and as a timid person I found it not difficult to do. Various writing assignments but they were not difficult because she would guide us through. Final paper on climate change and 5 min powerpoint presentation on final paper.

Professor Thompson gives assignments every night, but they are so helpful when it comes time to write the paper for each section because you already have it organized and have most of the information. She is extremely accessible outside of class and gives quality feedback to help you do well. If you do all your HW, it's an easy A.

A really nice and caring professor. She's actually really interested in each student and their discussions in class. Class is heavily dependent on discussions so make sure you participate for credit. A lot of papers but the topics picked are actually interesting. Be sure to check blackboard (regularly) to see when assignments are due.

Such a sweet teacher. Easy class as long as you do the readings. EASY quizzes every class (dont be scared). The class is what you make out of it. If you have a positive outlook on the information you're learning, you'll do fine. Study guides and reading assignments before every class. Most exams are take home. Not bad for a core class.

I enjoyed my semester with Dr. Thompson. There is lots of homework but it is not very difficult and does not take very much time. There are two papers that you have to write throughout the semester but she breaks up the process and is very helpful and willing to meet outside of class very often.

really sweet lady who cares about your success. class had a pop quiz each day so make sure to read the study guides she makes, very smart woman! The test are all take home but going to class will help you get lots of extra points for the tests. Going to class will help you understand the concepts for quizzes. Also gives lots of fair extra credit!

Dr. Thompson is an amazing professor! I've taken her for 2 classes. Her lectures are really interesting and makes you leave the class wanting to learn more. The tests are take home and are essays that you will have 2 weeks to complete but don't stress too much about it. If you put fourth the effort you will do fine. A real gem, you won't regret it!

She does care about the success of her students, and tries her best to be clear about assignments. She is a touch grader though and rarely gives out 100% on anything. Her feedback is just eh, it seems like shes grasping at straws often. But there is many assignments and some extra credit opportunities to boost your grade. Interesting topic.

I never got a 100% on anything in that class, but I'm a better writer for it. She critiques everything, but gives the most helpful feedback. She's knowledgable and will help you with any question you have. She's also available nearly all the time. I emailed her a lot this semester and she always got back to me within 20 minutes even on the weekends
