The only reason I made an A in this class was because of the ta/si. Professor Vancleave is mediocre at best. Her tests are not easy, and her lectures are a mess.

Tests are extremely hard, her lectures tend to sometimes skip around, she doesn't use any power points or anything she just speaks, so if you're a visual learner her class will not come easy at all. She isn't very animated when she lectures so its easy to let your mind wander and get bored.

I really enjoy this class and her lectures. I dont know why people say her classs is hard b/c it wasnt really. Just go to class and if not, read the chapters and good grades are easily attainable.

Question are not covered in either the book or the lectures. Answers kind of have to be inferred from information. I attended every class, read the book, and took notes and still pulled Cs on tests. And I have an A in every other course but this one.

This class is not hard. Go to class, take some notes if you want...The most important thing are the STUDY guides. Go through, learn as much as you can about the terms on there, and you will be fine. There is a level of inference you have to have on the tests, but buy studying the guide, you'll be fine.

Shes hard if you dont go to class or dont listen, shes a teacher who loves her subject so she tends to ramble but shes a good teacher... she gives you study guides before each exam, if you do those youll do great... the tests arent hard you just have to understand it all. She drops the lowest test grade. shes very helpfull.

Van Cleave was fairly easy. All you need to do is read the book (even then you don't really need to), take notes and somewhat pay attention. But when it comes to the tests, she conveniently gives you a study guide of what EXACTLY will be on the test. Can't get any easier than that.

Her lectures makes you wanna cry, bores you to tears. I struggled to stay awake. Tests straight out of text book, although she makes very subtle coments about a given subject during the lecture, then puts that info as a question on the test. Those are the questions you will miss, as she'll prolly say it when you are asleep. Avoid her at all costs

I didnt enjoyed taking professor Vancleave's History class. She wasnt organized, and her lectures were hard to follow. She does not use Web Ct, or any kind of outline so the whole class is based on you taking notes off her lectures. It was also confusing because she would jump around alot. I wouldnt reccomend her again.

She DOES use webct...and like others say.. there are STUDY GUIDES given before each tests...which basically tells you what ya need to study exactly. However she does give around 9-10 pop quizzes through the semester and one writing assignment. Compared to many many other professors.. she is.. very clear on her lectures.

Very easy! She is very nice but lectures are pretty boring! Tests are extremely easy---straight from the notes. I didn't buy the textbook I would always use my notes and cliffnotes to study! Gives pop quizzes, but usually out of nine grades the lowest five are dropped. Easy class.

Going to class is not entirely necessary as she just reads out of the book, but she still manages to jump around which makes for confusing note taking. She does however, give out quizzes at random intervals and gives you useless factoids on SA that she'll put in the test. Fairly easy class.

Boring. And she skips around. Seriously, I cannot emphasize the boring part enough. I'm not saying this to be mean either. She is nice and everything and cares about history, but needs to come up with a more interesting way of teaching history.

80% of your grade is on three test, there are four test overall but she drops your lowest test grade. She posted a study guide for each test. 10% is on a interview paper 3 page long double space not hard at all will get 100 on paper as long as you write 3 pages. The other 10% on quizzes there are 8 total not hard at all. I recommend her.

Lectures are exactly what you need for exams. Book use is minimal unless you really want to study. 2 Projects are easy. Knows her stuff. Not a hard class but take good notes and u will do fine. SI helps too.
