Very difficult class. Somewhat hard to understand because of the accent, but once you get past that he is not so hard to understand. Look out, he spends very little class time on proofs, but the tests are almost if not entirely proofs, and he is very specific about the wording of them.

dr. voloshin always maintained a careful explaination of the many difficult concepts, from integration techniques to convergent natures of infinite series...

this was a tricky class, but he was very clear in presenting the notions early in the class, so that, everything very simply followed

The difficulty of the class matches the difficulty of the subject. Dr. Voloshin taught it so well. I never been so inspired about math. He is always willing to help and pushes the class harder. I can't wait to attend his computer programming class.

Dr.Voloshin is a wonderful professor. His lecture notes do not come straight from the book,you do need the notes and lectures because many things said in class are NOT in the book. These things are very helpful though, so attending class greatly increases chances for a higher grade. Great class overall!!

I had Dr. Voloshin for 5 classes total while at Troy and I thoroughly enjoyed them all. The last class I had with him was Real Analysis 2 which I highly recommend for anyone planning on grad school. Great class and great teacher.

Incredible class. As with all of Dr. Voloshin's classes, he teaches very well and explains things clearly. All of the postings on here saying that he is difficult to understand and that he doesn't explain things well are written by people who did not either understand the material or did not study. I took Calculus 2 with Dr. Voloshin and it was wonderful. I truly absolutely loved that class. Pay attention, attend, and go through your notes and you'll fly through the class. Dr Voloshin is dedicated to his students and his material. He's utterly professional and extremely intelligent. Best of all, he loves to teach and help his students.

Best class I have taken so far as a math major. Dr. Voloshin explains the proofs and algorithms behind Graph Theory very clearly. Each lecture was exciting. He is willing to help anyone outside of class and even provides helpful information for grad school and other opportunities. This class drastically changed my perspective towards mathematics.

He really wants you to do well, GO TO CLASS! He gives 5 extra points for perfect attendence. study your notes your test come straight from examples! Also, he exempts people from the final, and lets you have a formula sheet on the final if you do have to take it!!!

Dr. Voloshin is a great professor who is always looking to help his students pass with the best grade possible. He tells exactly what will be on the tests and gives the dates of the tests at the start of the semester. If you don't understand something he will gladly meet with you to help you understand it better.

Dr. Voloshin is a decent professor. He is nice and seems to care about his students and is incredibly smart. I took him for Cal 2 and did well. He teaches right out of the book. All his tests are based mostly off his notes. Only once did he give us a question on a test that was not from our notes, but it was very similar. All in all, he is good.

Well, Dr. Voloshin is one of the wants you to know everything teachers, if you look at your book before class and notes after class then it will be easier to understand. He does help and does response really fast in e-mails. He really care about students if and only if you care back. test came out of notes and notes came from the book.

I have taken 3 classes with Dr. Voloshin; Calc II, Intro ,& Vector Calc. He is a very nice professor & is always willing to help after class. Really cares about his students,wants you to actually learn the material & understand it. Best way get up with him is email, super fast replys. Attend Class (extra credit) Memorize tonight means just that!

Attendance is not mandatory but he rewards you if you do not miss a day with extra points on your overall grade which can help alot. He knows his stuff but teaches it pretty well also. He understands that you may or may not love math and so he wants you to learn it but also puts into consideration this when grading tests and gives partial credit.

Dr. Voloshin is not the easiest of teachers, but this is offset by his ability to teach. He's able to combine multiple styles of teaching in order to appeal to the many different types of learners. Students know the material after leaving his class.

I was so nervous about taking this class b/c you had to get a C or better, but this professor was amazing at keeping you motivated. He helped and responded so quickly that I never had to wait more than ten min for a response. It was one of the best math experiences i've ever had!

I like Voloshin. He is a great teacher but its mandatory you tend each class if you want to do well in his class. He is very helpful and understanding. i had him for 1125 also; and did well in that class to. If you look over your notes a few time you will do well on his quiz and test.

This is my second time take MTH1110 at etroy. As my new instructor, Dr.Vitaly Voloshin did a great job explain everything related to the course and he answered all my questions very quickly. When I needed help with the proctored final exam due to the time differences between China and USA, he helped me very quickly. He is great and very helpful!

I am weak at math but he breaks it down so you can understand it. Do not drop his course. He will help you. I would recommend this course to anyone. Great Instructor! He is VERY fair!! He will work you especially if you stay in contact with him. He will answer any questions you have and if you email him he gets back with you very quickly. My is my weak subject. I however walked away with a B in Dr. Voloshins Class. He cares about his students and their success. All of my emails were always answered within an hour, if not sooner. I am starting on a sec. degree, If I ever need another class he offers, I will def. be taking it. GREAT GREAT GREAT Instructor!

I took calculus in high school, but this was way harder. This class wasn't in my major, but i took it because the school urged me to because of my act score. DON'T TAKE CALCULUS UNLESS YOU HAVE TO. Its hard. Voloshin's helpful, Study your notes, most of the problems on the tests came exactly from there. Show up everyday and you get bonus points.

There if you need something explained, go to class and do the homework. Also loves this subject more than life.

He's a pretty awesome professor. True to his word though, when he says to read your notes and the textbook. If he says to memorize it, memorize it. This was not an easy course, but if you follow his instructions, you'll be ok. If you have trouble, he's there to help. Would take again!

Classwork is really organized. Tests do not come as surprises. If you follow his instructions, you will definitely make a great grade.

Calculus was a STRUGGLE for me. Dr. Voloshin was very helpful (through email and visiting his office), and he made the structure of the course perfectly clear, but maintaining a good grade was extremely difficult. His tests are short and hard, but do come from examples from homework or the book so STUDY. He's a great guy, though!

Finite mathematics was one of last classes to take in order to graduate. I hate math with a passion so I held off as long as I could. I used this site to find the best professor to take it with. Dr. Voloshin has to be the most efficient professor at Troy University, if you are having difficulties then email him he will email you back within the hour, or quicker. He gives out a lot of work, and it is a tough course for those who are not comfortable with math, but he will help you. Super nice guy and extremely helpful.

Voloshin is one of my favorite teachers. He is brilliant and Im honored to be one of his students. He has very clear grading criteria for all his courses. He wrote the textbook used in this course so its very easy to follow. The course is difficult but if you put forth the extra effort outside of class its a very rewarding experience.

I mean, its math! I can't fully complain because the actual work was not as terrible as i thought it would be. Dr. Voloshin is an amazing professor. He emails back immediately about any questions or concerns you may have about anything. He is forgiving about tests and quizzes. Dr. V is great. He mainly uses MyMathLab but also has weekly discussions. the discussions are extra credit (which helped me maintain an A). He also has quick responses to emails.

I hate math with a passion, but Dr. Volishin is a wonderful instructor who really cares about his students. Figure out how to use the Study Plans in MML early in the course. Complete the weekly discussion questions. There are three proctored exams in this course, so be prepared for those. I'm glad I don't have to take another math course!

He is a great professor but this course is EXTREMELY difficult. I fought hard to simply pass the class. He does give extra credit (40 points worth) and your grade is point-based so be sure to review the syllabus to see how many points you need to make the grade you'd like to make. There are 3 proctored tests, including the final exam.

Dr. Voloshin was an outstanding professor and I absolutely enjoyed his class. I had health issues over the course of the term and Dr. Voloshin was very caring and gave me extra time to get caught up. He is very well organized and explains things and you know his expectations on Day 1 which sets you up for success.
