Procrastinates in handing back grades, and half way through the semester I had no idea what I had. What makes this so frustrating is that it is very hard to improve when you don't know if your assignments were good, bad or completely off the mark. Didn't get back my assignments until the semester was pretty much over. Not a good teacher all. Avoid.

Here's the thing - for her online class, honestly, if you do the required discussion boards and quizzes, you'll pass so easily. She posts video lectures and news articles to read every week and they're fine, but totally unnecessary. The textbook really isn't necessary either because she tells you what's important from each chapter in the videos.

The class was unorganized, and she would constantly leave students confused with what is going on. Always posts quizzes and exams last minute. I was excited to take this class, but now I regret it. Assignments are easy however, there is a strong lack of communication between the professor and the students.

Absolutely horrible, even to a MASS major. NO organization. Not accessible. Left us in the dark for 7-10 days without an update/assignment, multiple times, then shows no compassion for how lost we all are. To add insult to injury, her tests are timed, which would be fine if they werent 1 min/q (ex. 50 questions, 50 minutes). Do NOT take her, ever.

AVOID. believe me. We learned nothing, she rarely updated the blackboard even though this was all online. Out of 10 quizzes we were supposed to have she only uploaded two for us. TWO. She gets snippy when you ask her to post stuff and she really does nothing. Never take a class with her if you care about learning at all. I felt like I was robbed.

Its an online class so I never met the professor but we had a set schedule of quizzes and discussion posts, but she just stopped giving out quizzes and discussion topics. So basically my grade consists of 1 quiz, 1 discussion post, the midterm, and the final.

The class was fully online due to the pandemic, no communication between student and professor. Out of the 10 quizzes, we only had 3 and 1 discussion board. She left us for like 3 weeks without any assignments or anything. Honestly its an easy class, professor doesnt seem to care at all, textbook isnt required. Would not recommend taking.

Oh god. Where do I even begin? By far the worst professor I've had - that is if you want to actually learn. We went weeks without hearing from her and had about 5 assignments the whole semester even though they were supposed to be weekly. Easy A because she doesn't care about her students or her class.

Her online class is easy. Her scheduling due dates are weird everything is due on like Mondays/Tuesdays. You need to stay on top of your schedule because she doesn't send you reminders. She doesn't grade the assignments herself so its easy to get an A as long as you complete the assignment.

I took global comm asynchronous and it was easy to keep up with. You have about 5 discussion posts for the whole semester that don't have to be very long. And in between that like one quiz every week, that are really easy. She assigns readings from the textbook but I never even got it and I was fine. Just make sure you pay attention to due dates.

There could have been better communication between her and the class. She would post assignments a little late so for some it would be hard to complete them on time. She also does discussion boards frequently and there is only 2 exams (the mid-term and final) which is basically ur entire grade. Do the work and you'll be fine.

Insanely unorganized. If you work over weekends definitely don't take her class. She does not post the assignments until Friday and they are mostly due on Mondays. Her quizzes are super easy. She isn't great about responding to emails quickly. If it's possible to avoid her class you probably should, it's really not worth your time.

Professor Medina-Messner's class was easy enough, but I was not impressed by her lack of communication outside of the classroom. I emailed her multiple times throughout the course of the class and never received a response. I hope she sees this and puts more effort into communicating with her students in a timely manner.

I understand Professor Medina-Messner had a difficult semester, therefore I don't hold anything against her. Frankly, the class was ridiculously easy and you'd have to actually go out of your way to not get an A. If you want a good grade and can look past unreliable communication, take 274 with Medina-Messner.

Extremely easy asynch class but just an awful professor. Gave me a B for my midterm grade when I got an A and didn't respond to my emails asking her to change it, and she never did change it. Very disorganized, does not post stuff on time, and the quizzes and tests are a joke. Easy A if you can handle basically not having a professor

Unreachable by email. Posted one informational lecture for the entire semester so I literally did not learn a single thing. Taking Diversity in the Media is a very important class for a Journalism department but Medina-Messner does not take her job seriously. This class was unbelievably easy because the assignments took no effort or vital info.

I wish I could rate lower. I think she is extremely unprofessional and I feel as though I am getting robbed of the opportunity I am in fact paying for to be taught by capable and competent instructors. It is hard for me to fathom how a "professor" could have such utter disregard for her students. Will dock points w/o any explanation. shes a joke.

The class itself is not difficult... but that's because of how bad of a professor she is. Unprofessional & apathetic & unorganized. Unclear with grading, guidelines, and other things -- only a few assignments but all of the exams I could get an A on without even trying.

Overall I learned nothing in all 3 classes I took from her. I believe I was barely taught and didn't once receive feedback for any of the work I submitted. Grades were given at random as things from the beginning of the semester to end were all graded with seemingly generic high grades with no explanation the night before grades were due.

You know it's bad when your prof literally implies in an email that they don't care about the class. She was late with posting everything and put practically no effort into making the class educational or worthwhile. I've never felt like a prof cared about their students less, how she still has a job at the university is beyond me.

avoid this prof at ALL COSTS!! dont bother buying the textbook. just be prepared to spend the first hour of the class sitting there as she slowly asks each student how their progress is going with whatever the current assignment is. she makes some assignments up as she goes, so also be prepared if she springs a presentation on you last minute.
