One of the most annoying courses you will ever take in undergrad. Takes up alot of time, don't listen to the other reviews. You can get an A+ but the course will consume alot of your time!!

Please do not listen to the other reviews for Biol 2070. This course is very long and annoying. If you want to do well, expect to put alot of time and effort into this course (alot more than biochem). I got an A with much work. Do not take if you don't have to, you will likely regret taking it unless you enjoy long labs and making lab reports.

Though she doesn't teach directly, she organizes the labs and makes the final. the final was ridiculous because it had weird wording. She doesn't give you back marks easily and the this course doesn't let you have feedback til the end. When you finish writing all your lab reports. Yeah, how am I suppose to improve if I'm not allowed anything back ?

Most disorganized course ever. The marking was too tough, you lose many marks for the smallest mistakes. They did not bother with printing a new manual for the summer class, so we just had to figure it out by ourselves didn't we pay just the same as the fall and winter classes?. Take way too long to answer emails. There is more, no characters left

Do not take with her, everyone here says she is awful for a reason.

She is literally one of the worst profs for biochemistry 2020 do not recommend her at all. Two midterms worth 25% an final worth 50% class average for midterm one was very low and she has a lot of written answer questions. She reads off the slides and covers almost 2 chapters per lecture without explaining anything.

She literally breezes through a whole chapter every class. I don't think she knows how commas and periods work because she clearly doesn't give any breathing room to allow students to take notes at all. Her midterms are unclear and requires extensive memorization of literally all structures, diagrams, and equations in the textbook and lectures.

Worst prof to take for 2020, she covers multiple chapters in every lecture and does not provide any explanation for any of the content. Her tests are ridiculously hard, she makes you remember diagrams that are very irrelevant to the course. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Worst prof. Covers 2 chapters every lecture, reads off slides, and doesn't provide any explanations. Doesn't offer any practice problems when asked, and doesn't give any clear answers regarding tests/exam. Tests are extremely hard, regardless of how much you study. Covers material that is irrelevant for the MCAT. Would not recommend.

Shes the worst prof Ive had in York. First of all she cant teach, she just goes over the lecture slides and reads through them in class. Secondly, her tests are composed of both short answers and multiple choice questions that are so hard and irrelevant. NEVER TAKE HER unless you want to fail

literally the worst prof ever... the final is in 4 days and we still don't have any idea about it. Moreover, she is very hard to reach, and she doesn't respond to emails. we didn't receive any emails from her since the course started. if you are planning to struggle teaching yourself and if you don't care about your GPA then take a course her.

She did the bare minimum. Terrible at responding to emails presenting concerns in a timely manner, maintains a general nonchalant attitude towards her students, and literally speeds through entire chapters in a single lecture.

Worst prof I've ever had. Speeds thorugh lectures and expects you to rememeber everything even though she just reads off the slides and doesn't explain anything and It's impossible to get hold of her for clarification out side of class. Never clear on whats on the tests or even the format and the actual content of the tests are unresonable.

Vivian is flat out a terrible prof for BIO2020, She goes through 1-2 chapters in a hour like it's review. She only made 1-2 post the entire semester! She doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner. Her tests are obscure and difficult and she is a difficult marker for the short answers. Class average below 50% on test 1.

She is a good person, however, she is not very good at teaching. She was not very helpful during the COVID 19 . Wouldn't respond to emails in a timely manner. The final exam she made was worth 100% of the course for some people. It was not reflective of the course at all, just random facts which were vaguely mention on her PowerPoint slide.

She's the worst prof I had at York. She can't teach, only reads her slides and cant draw something on the board without messing up. Her tests were wayyyy too difficult and 60% drawing. She expects you to memorize and draw full detailed mechanisms while all other profs teaching the same class make their tests mc only.

I have personally had a extremely bad experience with this professor on one-on-one interactions. Just as there are great teachers that can get you interested in STEM, there are unfortunately others that turn you away from it like Dr. Saridakis. I don't know how else to put it other than she seems to have no empathy or consideration for students.

I am in my 4th year of study, and she is the unequivocally the worst professor I've ever had.

Absolutely so unorganised, its been over 20 days and she hasnt given us our test back. She is MONOTONE, read of the slides and PUTS NO effort. I wish i took some other prof. Save urself and ur money. She has NO office hours and Does NOT reply to emails at all

Dont be fooled, her overall rating of 2/5 is OVERINFLATED most of her good ratings are from 2008ish where I assume she was decent other good ratings are from BIOL2070, a lab course that she manages, not teaches Has no passion, does not answer emails, does not explain concepts, goes through slides quickly, super hard tests (short answer only)

If I were to box mike Tyson in the ring for 5 rounds or retake this course, I would box mike Tyson for 20 rounds. whatever you do in your life DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH VIVIAN. I studied in Iranian highschool and I had dealt with every type of teacher I can say this course is on top of the worse things I have done in life.

If you're reading this, please DO NOT consider enrolling in ANY of the courses she "teaches". From the very beginning, in September 2020, I noticed that our class website homepage was a MESS. Nothing was in order, she never removed anything from it, never responded to 3 of my emails, and gave HORRIBLE and MEANINGLESS assignments. Never again. 0/5

Horrible Teacher. She did not know how to teach, she read straight off the slides in such a monotone voice and didn't communicate with students about deadlines or anything. The whole class was a mess and the class average for the first midterm was a 40%. Never taking a course with her again

She is objectively the worst professor at YorkU. She doesn't teach you, she reads the slides. She doesn't have office hours, and on top of that she will not reply to your emails within the 2 business day mark like most professionals. Vivian, I hope you see this: please resign from the teaching stream. You, and all YorkU students will benefit.

Actually a horrible professor. Goes so fast, horrible graphics and long slide shows. Almost everyone I know is behind in this class. A 20 minute video can explain her entire lecture In a less confusing way. Why she's teaching BOTH SECTIONS even tho I'm technically in the other profs section is beyond me.

She only reads the slides. Does not teach. Just wants to get through as many slides as fast as possible in the time she's obligated to teach. She does not answer questions throughout class. Not to mention, making 10% of our grade this stupid foldit online video game that takes up 30 hours. She wants us to not get an A+. Very disappointing.

CANT teach, if you need the slides read to you in a monotonous voice then go to her lectures (you wont learn anything). Her lectures are the biggest snooze fest. This course is frustrating. The professor only reads slides and says “of course” without explaining. No examples or practice were given, so the midterm better match what was taught. I had to use ChatGPT to learn. We were supposed to have a different professor, and the sudden switch is extremely unprofessional!!! we are paying for these courses.

She is teaching some concepts outright wrong, doesn't understand the slides, and therefore can't teach; she just reads them. Her confusion about some of them suggests she is reading them for the first time as well. Will not explain anything, something complicated comes up, her response is of course. A+B = C (why? Ans: of course). Wasting time.

The worst prof i have ever had, reads lecture slides, extremely dry lectures, youtube teaches better. You will not know anything after her lectures. You will have to teach yourself everything. No practice tests, no iclickers to test your knowledge. Literally nothing. Plus they forced everyone to have her this year for half the semester.

a super content heavy but interesting course, she's just the worst teacher oat. no inclass activities/iclicker to check your learning, no practice on eclass, no way to know what is actually important and what is just examples for understanding, vague 'learning goals' to the point of being useless. its just 3 hours a week of directionless info-dump.

I've never met a professor that made learning so difficult. She uses molecular models that, if you're not sitting close to the front, you just cant see, along with the stuff she writes on the board. She glazes past slides, theres no practice questions, she teaches like shes never seen her slides before. It's just overall a complete mess.

Terrible, probably the worse prof ever. Her lecs are an 3hr info dump each week. She doesn't teach you the material,she reads off her slides, if you like audiobooks this is the class for you. There's no practice questions and only 2 short quizzes that don't really give you much practice. She also loves saying OF COURSE when "answering" questions

The class itself isn't that hard, but the way she teaches makes it ten times harder. She rambles, her slides are a mess, and she sounds like she's reading her slides for the first time. Her tests have things on them that were barely even discussed in class.

I should have dropped the class as soon as the prof said everything that needs to be explained can be found by searching it up on Google. Her slides are almost as bad as the way she teaches as she seems confused while trying to teach the material

The worst prof in the whole department. I'd say in the whole university. 0 teaching skills, no practice questions, not even class questions. She almost destroyed everybody's grade. Don't take her class, even if it's mandatory, just take the course in summer. Trust me I'm helping you here

Nobody knows what is expected of them for the exam and the questions don't even remotely reflect what is focused on during the lectures. Barely enough time on the exam and a short answer question hidden somewhere in the booklet that is randomly announced in the last 8 minutes

Horrendous…. Can't teach and makes the midterm sum sort of puzzle instead of testing knowledge. You either know your biochem or you don't there's no need to twist the questions to confuse people and put a time limit when you have 6 short answer questions that have 3 questions within them…..

If reading sentences off slides with a laser pointer is all it takes to be a professor, then I hope I get my job offer soon. It baffles me why Vivian is in a lecture hall because she clearly does not care about teaching. No expansion on topics, never took her eyes off the screen to answer questions, and just tried to lecture as fast as possible.

I just got my midterm and I have one thing to say. SHE DID NOT PREPARE US FOR THE MIDTERM. I spent my whole reading week listening to her lectures (which btw was useless because all she does is reads off the slides) and taking notes. ALL MY TIME AND EFFORT WAS PUT TO WASTE. This professor is a walking disaster. Astoundingly unorganized, chronically nasal, and incapable of delivering a single clear lesson. Her lectures are rambles through material she obviously doesn't understand, paired with slides so chaotic they're practically jargon. It's a miracle she's employed in academia and not serving Big Macs somewhere.

Came here to say that we got the first exam back (yes exam, because now we have no midterms and 2 exams for this course which we had 1h30 to complete) and the class average was about 60%. Do with that what you will.

Genuinely ruined my major. Can't even get into medskl now. Horrible professor, puts 1 picture on the slide and sounds like a nonstop audiobook. Not fair towards students, we were supposed to have prof Bayfield. Exam was 35% and her assignment was unrelated to anything and took so long to do. Genuinely ruined my mental health. Y was she even hired??

It was difficult to prepare for the test because we were given no sample questions. The questions were very challenging to answer and the short answers were hard to reach her answer that she expected from the question she was asking.
