I have not met a more well-informed knowledgable professor. He is very verbose and well-spoken and you really need to do a lot of self-study. Integrates humor and friendliness effectively. I'll take him for discrete mathematics again!
I have taken MTH 101 before this class and did very well. I do all my work and he is actually not a great teacher for MTH 101 I do believe that he is very knowledgable. He is flexable on how he teaches, he will ask what kind of structure the class would wants is probably better for higher level math
He's a good/funny guy. He teaches fast though. Thank God I learned calculus in high school. You better study and keep his pase. In five weeks we learned all the material we had to for the quarter. He likes everyone to have a good time. He cares more about your learning experience than your grade.
His grades are only on the midterm and Final! the Midterm was so imposible
Very funny, great guy. Moves very fast, you need to keep up. Does not take attendance. Tests are a bit difficult, there is only two, but he curves the life out of the scale.
DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN! Once when asked about how to solve a problem he said, "I wish I could tell you."
Three tests all quarter; tests are impossible. Knows his stuff and would be very helpful, but impossible to communicate with him. You say one thing and he will answer another. I would not recommend him for anything past Mat 101.
nice guy with a good sense of humor ..tests are very hard, most in my class struggled through the quarter..
VERY HARD!!! i took BMS 126 and got 104% but with this teacher his midterms are IMPOSSIBLE. He puts a star next to the questions that he knows no one will be able to do and tells you that. The final was impossible too. i talked to 20 people in that class and they all failed it except for one. STAY AWAY! got an accent too
Very good
do not take him.....avoid his classes...
Hard........................
can i get an honest rating for this class please?
very easy, i went to 6 classes including midterm and final and i got an A
lazy and demean'n.Neverin his office until 15 min.B4 class. If you show to his office for any help, he will tell you to relax and not worry about anything. I missed a class and take home exam and he told me not to worry about it and i had to put all my eggs in finals basket and rest assured he failed me. tries to be life coach instead of a teacher.
always there to answer questions. gave us like a 3 class periods to review for the midterm and 3 weeks for the final. if you don't understand what he's doing just stop him and ask him to explain. he actually wants his students to do good. it is a hard class though. do the problems at the end of the book and ask ?s and you'll do fine
Worst teacher I have ever had in my life. Yea he doesn't grade you on much so if you're good at teaching yourself out of the book, then take the class. But if you want to learn from a teacher, get another professor! Would not recommend him to anyone.
One of the worst teachers I've ever had. I don't think that he ever kept us the entire class and one time he actually let us go early because he said he was "tired of talking." Not clear on anything, messes up constantly and tells you to fix it later, and tests are HARD! About 10 people got zeros on the midterm. I had to go to the tutor every day.
AWFUL! the worst teacher i have ever had! i had to teach myself the material because he never really went over it. he just did the basics because "its easy and we all know how to do it" at least thats what he thought. midterm and final are extremely difficult, the questions are really trivial, and are there just to trip you up. don't take his cl
AVOID HIM! I have always been good in Math, took all honors and AP math classes in high school and go A's. BMS material is easy as hell but his problems are extremely complicated and difficult. Never kept the class for longer than 50 minutes. The highest grade on the midterm was 72 out 140 possible points. He is obssesed with logs. AVOID HIM!
Worst BMS teacher at DePaul. Made class more difficult than it needed to be. Often skipped steps during examples and never really explained material. Claimed all the problems on the final were reviewed at least 3 times when some problems were in chapters we had not even covered yet.
Terrible. does not teach at all. makes tests impossible. Very difficult log problems with no quality examples in class
A lot of people on here have said that Lepetic is terrible. I disagree. I thought he was very helpful. I had to go to his office hours a lot because Calculus is a weak subject for me. His test questions came straight from the book examples. I took him about a year ago so he may have changed his teaching style...
Terrible teacher... if you really want to pass his class always sit in the back and cheat that will be the only way to pass.... hard work will never get recognized this is a lazy teacher...hates to stay the whole class period and doesnt like to repeat him self ever!!
The absolute worst teacher I have ever had. When he teaches he explains nothing, going through the problem without barely any explination. I just got out of his class, and he made fun of me for not understanding a problem because he can't teach at all. All problems come out of the book because he can't think of anything himself.
Does not explain concepts very well. Skips steps. Had to teach myself the course. One of the worst math teacher at DePaul.
You really have to read the book and do the hw to understand calc.If you see him during office he does explain things to you. If your lazy and not inclined to put any effort in the class than try another prof. That said, he's a very fair grader and gives you alot of opportunities to do well ( e.g extra credit problems). Do the HW, u'll do fine.
This teacher is awful. from always getting A's in high school, and college. i just receive my first F. dont take him
Worst teacher I've ever had. Does not explain clearly and grades unfairly. He talks to the guys in the class like they're idiots and bends over backwards for the girls. I'm a girl and I noticed that. I have never gotten below a B in my life and I aced 125. And I just failed this class.
VERY EASY. EXAMS ARE NOT THAT BAD. HE ALLOWS YOU TO HAVE ONE CHEAT SHEET DURING THE EXAM. HE WILL LET YOU OUT EARLY FROM HIS CLASS EVERYDAY.
This man... do not take. I studied and saw tutors and did so much work and didn't pass. He doesn't help at all and is really bad at explaining concepts. AVOID!!!!
He is a terrible teacher! He does not explain the concepts at all. He does not follow the sylabus, and we skipped around in the book. There are only three grades for the entire quarter. I have never even gotten a B in math, and I had to drop this class when I failed the midterm.
This professor is a funny and smart guy, but seems pretty lazy and does not know how to teach. Do not take if you need a structured and organized lecture. He doesn't really assign homework and you get out really early every class. I managed an A, but I did a lot of outside studying and homework. If you put in the initiative you will do fine.
At first, THIS GUY WAS IMPOSSIBLE! HOwever, he gave me a drive I have never felt before. I failed midterm with a CAPITAL F but passed with a B. Hes the kind of teacher that expects us to REALLY LEARN. No Beer or Kegs for this class hehe.
if you want to pay to teach yourself, this is the teacher for you. he doesn't teach, he's constantly "reviewing" because he assumes students already know the material. really really difficult and impossible class. i failed.
WORK HARD AND HE GIVE You good grade. HES FUNNY But REALLY Tough. IF you looking for a challenge hes the MAN.
DO NOT TAKE!!! this teacher is bad. The people who did well in my class already took calculus. the ones who didn't failed. be prepared to go above and beyond to pass this class because just doing the work wont do it unless you're a math super genious. i had to put in ALOT of time and effort to barely pass with a C-
I recommend vlad if you have taken calc before. He lets you out early and class is not mandatory. I got an A, but I did have to work for it. Class is only midterm, take home, and final.
Seems like a nice guy but what he says is quite a far cry from what he does. This teacher is like a deceptive assassin; he lulls students into a false sense of confidence by stating that exams "will be easy" but then he drops bombs in tests that really make one feel betrayed. He is lackadaisical and difficult to relate to.
He's a really funny and interesting professor. However, if you need everything clearly explained, he's not your guy. He's not good at helping you understand the material - which is very difficult. If you already took calc and dont mind teaching yourself from your book this might be your class because that's exactly what you have to do.
This Professor is a REAL silent killer on so many levels. If your an honest hardworking student that just needs a little help to understand his unorganized way of teaching forget it! He does not care about your sincere effort to learn or dedication to being on time! He lies about the material on the test & drops a randon bomb on test day.
How can this professor keep a job & waste students money with such low reviews. Do bad professor's get disciplined? He is ridiculous!
He doesn't know how to teach. Just like many students, I was happy to get out of class early. But his test are nearly impossible if you have never taken calc before. He hates helping students and he cannot teach. Good luck if you take this class. You'll need it.
Abort!!! Please do not suffer like I did. I am a hard-working student and loves math, but this calculus class was a joke. He is like a stealth bomber on test days and delivers material you have never seen in your life. Watch out before you are his next victim!!!
WORST professor i've had at DePaul by FAR. does not know how to teach. even when our whole class didn't understand something his solution was "look in the book". you're whole grade is determined by the midterm and final. very hard to get a hold of, not helpful outside of class.
Does not explain concepts well, and by mid-quarter has very rambling lectures that sometimes do not relate to the subject. Have someone take exams for you, he doesn't know anyone's name unless they stand out.
I already took calc in highschool so this class was easy for me. Class was never mandatory, he always let you leave early, and there was never any homework. Because I had already taken it this class was low priority for me and this class requires no outside work besides one take home test. If you have already taken calc take him to save some time.
Do Not Take! He is just a bad teacher. He assumes you know it because to him, the material is easy to him. Horrible
Very interesting lectures that always let out early. This was an extremely easy class.
A low quality professor at DePaul. You only have a midterm, take home and a Final which hurts your grade tremendously if you preform poorly on one. Explains Calculus horribly, obviously is not teaching his calling.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He comes off as a nice guy at first, joking and letting you out of class early. He dodges questions with rude comments. You insult him if you don't know something. He can't break math down to an understandable level. Tests are impossible and he's a tough grader. I had peer and private tutors, worked hard, only to fail.
Really nice guy. Definitely a teacher for higher thinkers. I felt bad for the kids that weren't good at math, though. If you are good at math, take him. I got a 100% in the class and didn't do an ounce of homework. If you aren't good at math.... Find some one else haha. Really great guy though.
His accent is hard to understand, he is a nice guy but cannot teach math to someone who doesn't know math very well. Everything was unclear and there wasn't any homework. I honestly don't know how he's still teaching when 3/4 of the class failed.
The material he presents consists of book examples or one he makes up on the spot. Without prepared lecture notes, this produces many algebra mistakes. Doing the homework doesn't help for his exams. They consist of material that hasn't been covered since basic algebra, like (x-y)^3(x-y)(x^2+xy+y^2), only you will have to integrate this.
Do not take this professor. He is a horrible teacher. He gets easily frustrated when you ask him a question or to take a moment to clarify. I seriously learned more from the college student math tutors than him. He makes you pay almost $110 for the online HW access code plus the really expensive depaul book ($100-180). Believe me, do not take him.
Okay, this guy starts off the year by acting like he loves to help and loves questions. DON'T BE FOOLED. He's condescending and when you ask a question he will act like you're stupid. There's no required homework and a math class is the only class that should have that. He'll flat out say "you understand? No? Of course you don't" Very rude!
He's a pretty funny and nice guy and lets you out early. That's really the only good thing I have to say about him. He really just confuses you. He literally makes things so much more complicated, and makes you feel lost. If you are signed up for him in this class, DROP! If not, do the online HW for 10 extra credit points, you'll need it.
Okay, people have been giving Lepetic such a rough time, but in reality its not that bad. His tests are literally just like the homework examples he gives you or the problems on a review packet. he's not as bad and people portray him to be. he doesn't assign homework, he's pretty funny, and class gets out early. you can get an A easily if you study
A very nice guy, I'll give him that. But his teaching is not the best. He's one of those professors that thinks the material is super simple and makes total sense, so he skips steps. He loves questions, but don't wait until right before a test or hwk is due, he will become very rude. There is a 3 point penalty loss on exams if you guess wrong.
Not very clear, but it is super easy to get an A in this class. in class midterm/ final. one take home test. online homework is worth extra credit. Take this class if you want to pass, but if you are really trying to learn, you are going to have to teach yourself.
Lectures are confusing. Homework is optional, and extra credit. He is not very helpful. Mid term, take home exam, and final exam. The final exam is worth more than the mid term. I got a 55% and a 87% on the final and still passed with an A- in the class. The class is also curved depending on how bad everyone does. Good luck
I felt bad for him he tries to explain things clearly, always asks if people understand. But even then he skips tons of steps while doing problems, & his explanations to the problems aren't clear enough. He uses more complicated approaches when solving. He does offer the homework as 10 points EC, and is willing to stay after class to discuss any ?s
Honestly, it is a really tough class. I am doing my MBA at UoC and not DePaul for obvious reasons. Instructor is too smart for the flock at DePaul. If you come to class, pay attention, and work through the problems - you will be fine. He curves a lot, and class is even out of 110% with normal grade cutoffs. Hilarious too. Very elegant man
Worst professor at DePaul. Had to drop his class immediately because the way he taught calculus was a way only people who had him before could understand. I read the Rate my Professors and saw that he was bad, but he worked with my schedule. Biggest regret! DO NOT TAKE!
If you are good at math and enjoy it to some extent, this is the class for you. If you are just trying to knock out the requirement, take a different professor. Lepetic is extremely smart and hilarious. Really enjoyed his class, but definitely a course for higher thinkers. If you are struggling just talk to him and he will do his best to work withu
Really nice guy, but his class can be a little difficult if you're not proficient in math. His teaching can be a little hard to get so the book is a must have. Homework packets aren't graded but you should definitely do them. He likes people who talk in class. Very strict grader, no partial points on the midterm or final.
DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Unless youre fine with having mymathlab teach you, avoid taking this professor. Attending his lectures will put you on his good side, but prepare to be even more confused walking out then when you came in. I got a B by sitting down and doing the homework to teach myself. He calls students out for asking "trivial" questions
I took him for Precalculus. Whenever you would try to do the homework after a class, you wouldn't be able to get anything done because he doesn't teach what's on the homework. Spends a lot of time rambling. Not a good pre-calc teacher. Is not good with translating whatever is going on in his brain. Probably better for much higher math classes.
Lepetic is a terrible professor - he knows the material well but is terrible at explaining it to students. He constantly skips crucial steps, assuming that students already know most of the material
Amazing professor. The amount of knowledge this guy possesses is overwhelming. Ask him anything about math , physics or philosophy he can talk for hours. Obviously he enjoys teaching. The material covered in class is huge so it takes a lot of work. Pretty easy grader. Show him that you know something and you will pass.
The best math professor I ever had. He cares about his students and is always ready to offer extra help. This class is difficult though and working on self-tests is indispensable. If you want to learn this is a guy for you. However, if you are stupid or don't want to study take another professor. Also a very funny guy.
He is a very nice professor with good intentions for all of his students. However, he makes it very hard to learn the concepts he is teaching because he skips alot of steps and expects you to already know them. Homework isn't due until the day of the final. Midterm, Take Home test, Final. Nice guy, not the best professor i've had at DePaul.
I took precalculus with this individual which is an extremely easy course to understand... unless you take it with Vladimir Lepetic. He is extremely knowledgeable in mathematical studies, but he made simple concepts overtly difficult and did not seem to care for the students in the class at all.
A very nice guy and awsome professor. I never liked math and I was never good at it. (I took 135 twice). With prof. Lepetic I finally got it. He explains well and is very helpful during and after the class. He encourages questions and wants you to succeed. With some work it is impossible not to do well in his class.
He lays it all out for you, literally. If you study, there is no way for you to get anything less than 100. The problem most students have is that they do nothing until the exam and expect to learn it overnight. Very caring, funny, and charismatic guy. Wants you to succeed. Do the work, easy A(you will know exactly what is on the final).
Vlads a hilarious guy and loves to mess around in class. He knows the subject a little too well and teaches in a way thats kinda difficult to understand (he has a thick accent) theres no homework so if you dont do the optional packets and mylabsplus youre screwed. Only midterm and final grades so yea
Not a class went by where I didn't laugh because of the little stories he would tell. He doesn't have the best teaching technique, but as long as you stop him and ask questions, he will make it very clear to you. Other than that, he was a goofball and clearly respects his students. Just ask questions. I promise that it is not that bad.
Lepetic is certainly a humorous man. He does not baby his students and expects them to ask him questions when they do not understand the concepts being taught in class. Everything that is expected of you is laid out clearly. Sometimes he lets class out early. There is no homework, so everything depends on you to study. I would take this prof. again
Lectures are all over the place and very difficult to follow, doesn't review all of the take home problems but is available outside of class
There are three self tests, a midterm, a final, and a take home exam. The take home exam is an easy A and the other exams are remarkably similar to the three self tests. His lectures are all over the place and filled with holes that he just expects you to fill in yourself. This is a class where you mostly have to teach yourself.
If you can take this class with any other professor, do it. He expects you to know everything and always says to ask questions if your confused. I would always ask questions and hed just belittle me and make me feel so dumb. His lectures are all over the place, even if you go to tutoring, the tutors are co fused on how he solves the math problem.
Claims that all the test problems are excercise problems from the book and that you find the solutions in the back of the book, WRONG! Also he is tough grader, 10-15 questions per test and you either get it the problem completely right or it's wrong, no such thing as partial credit. Also, good luck taking notes he erases almost immediately.
The best professor I ever had. Also a very kind man. Always ready to help. If you have any difficulty with math go to his office, he will work with you until you understand. All exam problems are from the homework so if you did the homework you should be fine on the exams.
Lepetic is really a great professor and very caring man. He wants you to succeed and will do anything to help you do well. He encourages questions and is ready to repeat things many times until you get it. Calculus is not easy and he expects you to study. However, with some work it is almost impossible not to get a good grade in his class.
Professor Lepetic was one of the best professors i've ever had. He really cares about his students and always was willing to explain anything we didn't understand. He wants everyone to do well and will really work hard to ensure you do. I wish all my classes could be with him because he really encouraged me and I feel more confident than ever.
If you are self-directed, and actually trying to learn something in school, Lepetic is great. He doesn't coddle you, and you have to put in work to truly grasp the material - but isn't that why you're in school? Very generous grader as well. I enjoyed his class.
I can't recall ever having a professor who expressed how much he wanted his students to succeed. He wants to give you the best possible grade he can. But trust me, you have to stop him and ask questions. Not only will it help you understand, but he will take it as your desire to succeed. Ask questions, visit his office hours and you'll be just fine
Terrible teacher. If you ask questions, he will say "oh I think you learned this in 5th grade or something, right?" This is the worst math class I've taken in my college career and I'm a senior. Overall terrible teacher. He says ask questions and that he wants every to do well, but is lazy. You have to put in more work and time to compensate.
Lepetic is a great teacher. A very kind man he wants you to succeed. He loves questions and will patiently keep explaining things until you get it. If you are struggling talk to him after the class. You need to study though. Exams are easy if you did the homework.
I'm not sure if this is the worst class I've ever taken, but it's one of them. It made me think about preparing GMAT and switching to another school. He never explains things well, always let students refer to the textbook.. ok then why do we need a professor? Many more Cons, no pros. Just AVOID him or AVOID DePaul. Horrible!
Update on what I've commented here for Professor Lepetic on 02/08/2020. He's knowledgeable and if you use your brain to ask questions. He's there to help you and willing to help students before the class. This isn't a class that you sit there digging nose and get A. But Lepetic will help you go through it. My previous comment is right down below.
This was the worst professor I have had at DePaul. Grade was composed of 3 tests. He grades them harshly and a lot of the material is stuff he never covers. He hates answering questions and berates those who ask them. It is like he feels threatened. At times he seems nice and funny, but by the last class, only 10 out of 40 people were showing up
Lepetic is a great professor. Possibly the most caring professor I ever had. I enjoyed his class and learned so much even beyond mathematics. All exams problems are picked from the homework and all are previously solved in class. However, Lepetic is certainly a teacher for higher learning student and you need to study.
Hes a great guy but not a great professor. He doesnt go over the problems in detail and expects you to know everything. The class was based on midterm, take-away home exam, and the final exam. So far, the worst professor Ive ever had. I would only suggest someone to take this class if they are already good at math. Otherwise, stay away.
Math is a difficult but this professor is awesome. His explanations are detailed and he is always willing to help. By far one of the best professors I had. If you ask questions and do your homework you will do fine in this class.
my access to the online book got denied. after countless emails back and forth, he said that homework will not be graded due to the fact I COULDNT GET IN. then he still took off the points for homework, I luckily did well on the midterm and final. im very petty and not a fan of this so 1 star for you <3
(Taken during pandemic) Overall, Professor Lepetic was a solid choice for business calc. He dedicates most of the lecture to answer your questions to make sure you understand and is a REALLY sincere person! grading is made up of the midterm, final, and MyLab Math homework so it isn't too bad
He made a lot of mistakes during the lectures. And given the short summer term, he dismisses the class very early instead of doing his duty to explain the material. Most importantly, his grading criteria is very unclear; it's hard to tell if he is grading based on his bias because he never releases the correct answer. Avoid him if you can.
He claims to be supportive of asking questions and he comes off as friendly but when I asked questions he seemed impatient and belittling. It made me not want to show up to class and was humiliating. Some people found this class easy but I imagine that they have prior experience in other logic or math disciplines.
Professor Lepetic is great at teaching the subject matter, and I was able to learn clearly and efficiently from his instruction which led me to receive the grade I wanted.
Prof is a no bull type of professor. He expects you to do the leg work, explore topics for yourself and be very much engaged in class. He does answer questions and is willing to work through problems you have trouble with. If you find you're not great at the topic, go to office hours early on. He means well so long as you show him you try
Caring, and a very nice man but his lectures were hard to follow. It helped a lot to ask questions.
He is clear about the difficulty of the class and the work that would need to go into it. He goes step by step through concept and has no issues explaining mathematical properties you may have forgotten from high school. He responded to my emails within a few hours. He cares more that you grasp it and will answer "homework" questions in class.
I recommend you read the textbook after each lecture. Most of the exam questions come from his given self tests (most questions are found from the textbook). Professor Lepetic is super caring and helpful. Definitely attend office hours if you need extra help on the material or the self tests. Overall he was a super kind and engaging professor!
Dr. Lepetic's class can be difficult, that is true. It's a load of abstract concepts that can be difficult to grasp just from lecture. As he says in the class, all the assignments are from the book and all the exams have questions from the assignments. So read the book and you will pass, no excuses.
Professor is truly happy when students show that they care and are thinking about the material, are willing to participate and answer questions, or ask if they do not understand something. Gives all the material to succeed, wishes he did not have to give out grades, and will give the highest grade he can. Really interesting and very smart.
The professor is knowledgeable in his field I get it. But he was arrogant and disrespectful. He expects everyone to be knowledgeable about discrete structures. He goes on and on for 3 hours. As soon as he shows us an example, he moves on to the next without making sure that everyone understands. If one or two students get it, he has done his job.
You get the questions on the midterms ahead of time. Even if you take the answer right out of his book and show him the answer (which he will say is fine in class when he looks), if you write the same answer verbatim on the exam, you will get 0 points on the exam. Avoid this Prof. at all costs. Just another horrible Prof at DePaul!
You'll have to study outside of class a decent amount, especially if you haven't had any experience in math since his lectures don't cover everything. If you treat his lectures as review for said studying and use his office hours to check the self test questions, you'll do well. The self tests all have questions that are on the exams word for word.
Professor Lepetic consistently makes mathematical errors. He fails to cover exam material adequately, leaving students unprepared. His explanation of material is unclear. Be prepared to learn content on your own or do what my classmates did by sourcing answers online. He is writing some of the 5 star reviews about himself.
Class is unclear. Lectures an disorganized. Textbook he provides is awful. Also unavailable like 0 outside of class. And ends class early because he doesen't want to teach. Take it at a different university and transfer the credit over.
I guarantee you all of the nice comments on here about himself sounds like he wrote them himself. If you had him as a professor, you'd know that.
The topic is important. It says a lot that DePaul doesn't invest in faculty to teach. They use an adjunct that is unclear and disorganized. He begs people to buy his poorly written textbook. He has limited availability outside of class. He enjoys giving really low scores on the exams. The reviews he has self-written below are comical. IYKYK
I regret that I took this prof for my CSC-400 course; he is really unclear on grading and loves to deduct your points for no reason. Even if your answer was taken from the book, he may have noted it as invalid. Awful prof. Do not take him if you want to keep your grades good.
Professor Lepetic's class is challenging, but he genuinely wants students to succeed. The lectures can be unclear at times, but the textbook and resources like Unstuck AI are extremely helpful. Attend office hours and stay on top of the material, and you'll do well.
The professor did not give many homeworks but his lectures are very poor. The level of work done in class and given in exams is very different. The exams can be difficult if you just go by his classes. You need to put extra effort outside classes and do the practice questions he gives you because exam is based on that.
Enjoyed very much the class. It was hard but Lepetic is always willing to help anyone who puts in the work.
If I could give this professor 0 stars or negative stars I would, that's how horrible he is when it comes to actually making sure the students are learning and his grading criteria. I have never met any professors like him at DePaul, he must be tenured so don't care.
dude just dont. like seriously dont.
I will say this. If you can find another professor that teaches this class do it. This might have been the worse experience I ever had.
