He know his stuff, he goes out of his way to make you learn the subject.

In 260d he makes you really appreciate how hard problems can be. Always helpful.
Dr. Rosenhaus is the best math teacher I have ever had. I don't think I looked at the clock in his class the entire semester, he kept the material so interesting. I am going to be taking him for an upper division class soon, so we'll see how that goes.
Possibly the best Prof I have had in my college career. His work ethic, desire to help students, and love for the material earn him high marks in the respect department. My college experience is better for knowing him.
Amazing teacher. Great work ethic and always available to help. Also, one of the nicest people I have meet at CSU Chico. Really good grasp of not only the material but how to teach it effectively.
Makes extremely difficult concepts easy. Great teacher, and makes you understand why you need math, and creates a mental motivation for Calculus, instead of just showing you formulas. Great Teacher.
Very helpful and friendly. Try very hard to keep people intrested. Tells great stories.
Dr Rosenhaus is easily one of the best math professors I've ever had. He has a strong understanding of the material, explains it well and was always willing to help.
The best and most inspiring math teacher I've ever had. I look forward to taking another course next semester.
Great Professor
Presents material so you understand the concept and aren't just doing repetative problems. Prepared me very well for 235! Can't wait to take another class from him! LOVE YOU ROSENHAUS!
Dr. Rosenhaus is the best math professor I have had at Chico State. He is challenging, but always makes you work hard and understand all material. He is always available to help and is always encouraging. Not to mention the guy is hella smart.
he as an excellent professor...I actually got a lot from his class
He was a really good at teaching this subject. He was always available for help and the help was effective. He also is very funny when teaching the class. His test aren't bad as long as you do all the homework problems.
This professor is horrible. He can't teach to save his life. He makes the subjects more difficult than they need to be. He seems to be very scattered when teaching. His exams are insanely hard. He is difficult to understand at times due to a heavy Russian accent. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COST!!
He made the subject so much more confusing then it should be. Don't take him, he is very hard. It was open book for me but the tests were crazy. I dont know why you guys all like him so much. He has a heavy accent and is hard to understand. There are better teachers out there.
Rosenhaus is awesome, don't listen to freshmans or people that just began the calc series. Open book tests and he doesn't collect homework. Granted, I haven't taken his 7A class but he teaches 7D very well. Beware if your fundamental skills (trig esp.) is weak, though.
Rosenhaus is a great teacher; he knows his material thououghly and knows how to get it across to his students. He is also the only teacher I've had who genuinely cares about the success of his students and is willing to put so much of his own time an effort into helping us understand the material.
300 characters can't describe Dr. Rosenhaus. He is the best instructor I have ever had! Thankyou Dr. Rosenhaus, for giving so much of your personal time this week to help us prepare for the final.
Rosenhaus is a good guy and a great teacher. Have taken many classes from him, but this semester was the most surprising. People underestimated his intelligence and thought they could get away with slacking. No chance. His classes will be a challenge so don't slack off, he will make you learn.
Dr. Rosenhaus is excellent! Will push you HARD to learn the material. If you slack, he WILL tell you! Genuinely cares about each and every student. Gave up 15-20 hrs of his own time to have extra study sessions for the final! TAKE HIM if you want to learn!
Dr. rosenhaus challenges you with his tests but because of this he forces you to learn more. i would recommend him to anyone that is at least expecting to take additional years of calc
dont take him unless you have too
Dr. Rosenhaus was very good teacher. His tests were only hard if you didnt do homework or take part in class. He always prepared us as well as he could for everything and created a great learning environment. Explained everything you needed to know as l
Hes an awesome professor, (he probably reads this for fun), but he can be a little crazy. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!!!! I definately had to work my ass off for that class.
this guy is tight but his class is serious and hard. "get your**** done and its fun"
very poor professor with dry jokes, dont take him in this class else you are doomed
Dr. Rosenhaus is a incredible instructor and great person! So inteligent its almost scary. The material is hard, tons of work is required but if see it through you will learn alot!

Best math teacher I've met. Very helpful. Uses stories to catch class attention. The man is incredible, taking his class has made me wish I had more math in my major. His expectations are high but you'll learn a lot.
Hands-down THE best math teacher I've ever had and one of the best professors I've had. Extremely brilliant man. Explains things very well and is ALWAYS willing to help. This guy is hilarious too! Really makes you feel involved and motivated!

Dr. Rosenhaus is a horrible math instructor. His explantions are far from being clear. Avoid this professor if possible. There are much better professor out there.
Great Personality. Good teacher. He knows his material very well and will explain any question asked. But that is also his down side, he spends most of the class helping with homework problems resulting in little time actually teaching new material which forces you to spend lots of time reading text. Overall, i would recommend.
Rosenhaus's class isnt necessarly hard, its jsut your whole grade in the class is based on 20 problems thorughoutt he smester, no redo's, no hw grade, rarely quizes if any. hes a cool guy, but expects alot. so good luck o and i tokk 260 (differntial eq.)wiht him twice
This class is a waste of time. He spends most of his time telling pointless stories that have no relevence to the class. He is not clear at all. Take this class at Butte or find another teacher.
To say he is a bad teacher is to imply that he teaches. He lets the book do it all for him and when he does try to "teach" he fails. He thinks he is god in class due to his Ph.D. and will do whatevery he wants. He is also rude when students ask question. If you would like learn from a book with test that Unsimilar to the class. He is the teacher for YOU
Dr. R is outstanding. Probably a 170 IQ with a PHYS/MATH PHD. He will do anything to help those who work hard. If your an engineer TAKE HIM FOR CALC! Highly respected by all engineering faculty.
Not a professor for lazy people. Homework is not required, and if you get lazy and don't do it the class will be hard. However, if you do the homework and show up to class with questions, you will do well. Very fair professor. Sometimes the way things are presented are a bit above my level, but he is always willing to work with me in office hours.
Do your homework, show up to class, and visit his office hours and you'll do fine. Not for lazy people. No due dates so class is laid back, but the Prof. gets upset with people not doing homework. Make sure you take him at least once if you are an applied math, engineering, or physics major. Extra Credit Project allowed in most of his classes.
GREAT Teacher in my opinion. Really focussed on student achievement and in-class participation. VERY important to keep up on the homework because his tests can be a bit tricky. Sit in the front and he's sure to put you on the spot...but it helps you focus.
He's a very smart teacher who pushes you to your potential. Also, I love his Russian accent.
Very good professor, interesting class and stories. I did not really like math before. This class made me remember all the algebra, and calculus that I started to forget. The tests are like challenging puzzles. If you want to succeed do your homework, ALL of it.
Dr. Rosenhaus is incredible! He really knows his stuff.
I also had him for 220. Great teacher. Runs a tough and entertaining class. Do the homework, i know its easy to put it off but if you put it off it will show on the tests. All points from tests. Dr. Rosenhaus is very personable and really funny. Take him if possible!
I have had Dr. Rosenhaus for MATH 121, 260, and 475. He is an excellent professor and very easy to pass as long as you actually care about the subject. If not, doing homework and paying attention in class is sufficient (not to say you are easy Dr. Rosenhaus!) As others have said, those who give a bad rating are those who hate earning a grade. :(
Great Professor! but you have to put your part. Homework optional but highly encourage to pass the class. Many short quizzes straight forward. Visit his office hours and he would help you A LOT!! Good luck highly recommend this professor over all the other ones.
Would recommend; very knowledgeable and helpful professor. He wants his students to succeed and makes it easy to do so if you show you care (aka doing hw).
Best math professor I've ever had. Knows the material inside and out, never stumped and always makes you think deeper than just the numbers/equation. If I could take all my math classes with him I would. Class grade is entirely quizzes/midterm/final and an extra credit project (recommended). Only cares about his students, very personable and funny.
A great teacher with a wonderful personality. He demands high understanding, not just regurgitation of formulas. Very helpful in office hours. The class is tough but rewarding, and he grades fair. Do all of the homework, go to class, you'll be fine. Hilarious and lively in the classroom. Frequently gives meaningful life lessons as well.
Recommend to take all classes you can with Dr. Rosenhaus unless you are looking for easy grades. Lets you use anything (books, notes) on tests.
I've had Vlady for two semesters now and my opinion on him is the same. Brilliant, hilarious, kind, and fair in all his quizzes and assessments. Do the work and you'll be fine. It's just his dark humor when he threatens to kill you, drown you, boil you, fail you, or do any of the above to himself.
Best math teacher. Wish he spent more time on math and less time on current events, yahoo news headlines, chalk box language discrepancies, etc but its part of what makes him so engaging and personable. Would recommend.
I've taken three classes with him. There's nothing else I can say other than: Best teacher (in any subject) I ever had in my life.
Dr. Rosenhaus is the best math Prof. at CSUC! He is an excellent Mathematician who shows his enthusiasm in class. For Math Modeling, we were given 5 challenging HW assignments and a research project we had to present to the class at the end of the semester. He is tough but fair! If you love math, then I would definitely recommend Dr. Rosenhaus!
Probably the most intelligent person I've met so far in my life. He'll teach you something more important than math: hard work. Plus he's also a true comic. A rare combination. He does not curve and his tests expect a lot. He has no problem answering questions. Sometimes you think he's up on the clouds then BAM turns around and math everywhere!!!!!
Class is built to help engineering majors the most, but is absolutely pleasant for a math major. Dr. Rosenhaus' research area is in this field. Strikes fear into those who don't do HW. No graded homework. If you don't do the homework, you've got another thing coming... BIG FAT F! He will inspire you. I recommend you write down quotes from him!
One of the nicest teachers, he makes an effort to get to know all his students. first half of class is for questions on hw second half is new material. Homework every night but isn't collected or given grade. Only grade was from final and weekly quizzes so you have to know your stuff and study every week. Office hours are pointless and unhelpful
Quizzes are usually questions from the hw, which you aren't required to turn in. The test are hard but if you studied you'll do fine. Personally didn't do my hw often causing me to fail my quizzes but aced my tests. His lectures are mostly him solving hw problems, be sure to study on your own to pass. Class takes effort.
I've had some mixed feeling about Dr. Rosenhaus but ultimately come to conclude he's one of the best teachers I've ever had. The thing that sets him apart from any other professosr is he challenges you to be better. When you take his class you can't just show up, zone out and take notes, he will call on you and expect the best from you. Inspiring
He used to be my favorite professor at the beginning of the semester. He would give quizzes that were exactly like our homework and gave us quite a bit of time to complete them. However near the ending of the semester he progressively gave us problems that took a little bit more time to solve but didn't give us more time for the problems.
Dr Rosenhaus is one of the most inspirational professors I've had. He tells lots of stories and goes off on tangents that teach you a lot about the nature of education and math in a big-picture sort of way. He is very personable and funny, while really pressing you to understand the math in a deeper way than you may be accustomed to.
Rosenhaus is a genius, he assigns homework every night but never collects it for credit, and all quizzes and exams are open notes. What ruined the class for me is that he wastes so much class time insulting/picking on the whole class or individuals. It was half funny at first but is extremely distracting after a while.
This was the worst math professor at Chico State. His exams are very difficult, and goes over some topics that aren't even in the textbook. His syllabus has an extra credit assignment on it, but he never discussed in class until a few days before the final. He makes a difficult class even more difficult.
Don't be afraid to ask questions in this class as Professor Rosenhaus is always ready to discuss eager ideas. He describes a variety of real-world applications in an easy to understand manner and cracks jokes along the way. To ace the class: show up, do extra research on the assignments, go to office hours, and enjoy the beauty of mathematics!
I think what he / I needed was longer lecture time for 5/5. Proves everything. Book is used for problems (needs better book). Weekly quizzes. Most important to me he is a very caring grader and gives partial credit for correct approaches. He also reviews quizzes after grader grades them (good thing). Wish he did the linear algebra class.
Overall probably one of the best if not the best professors I've ever had. He makes the class very interesting with his humor and his history lessons on various mathematicians and physicist. Great professor for engineers / applied maths. Is not nit picky about notation, and doesn't check the homework. You get the grade you work for.
Rosenhaus is the kind of prof who actually wants you to learn the math and why you do the math, rather than a plug n chug equation. If that's not appetizing, then hes not for you. Overall you learn very useful things and a respect for where the knowledge came from, and more respect for the math and the professor.
He has been the hardest instructor I ever had for Math. I am currently taking Math 260 with him please avoid online courses with him because he will deduct 30% off if you turn in late the quiz one minute. If you do not follow the same process as him in a quiz problem you will get a zero for that problem. Overall he is a tough grader and a nice guy.
Homework and readings assigned daily from textbook, required for learning the material, not graded. Material not always covered in class before homework. Class time dedicated towards calling on students to answer questions (often not directly about material) and going over requested homework problems. Thinks math is easy for everyone.
I never taken a class with him in person please avoid online. When the semester started 34 students by the final 17 students and not all students passed the class I asked so I know about how many passed. Pretty much tough grader. He says he wants you to learn but his lectures are difficult to understand. Dont believe old ratings for online course.
Great professor, if you really just put in the work you'll get the grade you deserve (there is a good amount of work to do). Although it is all online, if you attend his office hours and always ask questions in class you can really excel. As a person, he really wants his students to pass and is helpful in whatever questions you ask.
He does not lecutre. I dont mean his lectures are boring or undescriptive. I mean he does not lecture, instead you are given a pdf that was copy pasted from the textbook and told to read it. Class is mostly wasted talking about nothing specific and could be used in so many better ways. Instead of taking the class just read the book, useless prof.
If you can take a different professor, unless if you like to pay thousands of dollars just so you have to teach yourself.
Couldn't get into the online zoom lecture for the first couple of days of the semester during COVID times. Sent him multiple emails with no reply and there were no office hours available. Rosenhaus then proceeded to call me a liar to the dean and the academic counselor helping me through email, literally said "how dare you take his side".
Dr. Rosenhaus is a nice person but a tough grader. He gave me a zero on a quiz just because I solved the question using a different method than the one he taught in class. However, sometimes he would give some partial credit for starting to solve the problem his way. HW is optional and quizzes are typically 2-4 questions weekly so be prepared.
Calc 2 is already a hard class but Rosenhaus makes it H.E.double hockey sticks. He barely teaches, rambles about some random historical fact or obscure story, insults 5 students, then frantically scribbles messy, disorganized, practically unreadable notes on the board during the last 5 minutes of class before assigning 30 homework problems..
Prof Rosenhaus is one of the most interesting and intelligent people I have ever met, years later I still think about the things I learned in his classes. He will challenge you, an A in one of his classes requires you to be an actual math genius. Even so, this man is a master of his craft, best professor I've ever had
if you could, take another professor. everyone has a different experience, but i personally think he is not that great at teaching. sure he is a nice person i guess, but the class was based solely on quizzes and the final exam. if you have test anxiety he is not the one for you. he spends most of class cold calling and rambling. his notes suck.
Dr. Rosenhaus is super nice and friendly guy, the class grade is weighted only on quizzes and the final exam. I had straight As and Bs on all the quizzes and got a c- minus on the final and it tanked my grade to a b-. His class is hard but also teaches you well. Takes a lot of time and effort but I enjoyed his class overall.
By far the best professor I had at Chico, in any discipline. 20+ years later I still think about him often.
Dr. Rosenhaus was a good math teacher for my learning style but this may not be true for everyone. Calc I was easy in his class, the tests are easy and the homework is never graded. He has an accent but its very intelligible. Has great stories to tell about Russia, sometimes goes on tangents. He offered to be my advisor, very inspirational.
