Do your work on time and you will pass the class easily. Online quizzes and homework are not hard at all. Only 4 speeches. Participation gets extra credit.

This class was wonderful. It aided me tremondously with my speaking skills. He assigns speeches once in a while, and if you complete all homework and research, you will do great. Professor Higgs is personable and he is open to help you if you're struggling.

Professor Higgs is one of my favorite professors. He's nice and teaches very well. However, because he's so nice, people tend to slack off when it comes to the work. He grades everything, and when people don't do the work, he gets mad, but he's overall a professor that means well.

Even when I do not like speech, he found a way to encourage me to learn. Only two papers if you do them correctly the first time. DO THE HOMEWORK AND QUIZES!!! If you want to go to class and not put effort, then do not bother. He is not good at posting on time, but he is fair when it comes to grading. Would take him again for sure!!!

I found this Proffesor awesome. He'a funny and caring. He teaches great and seems to have a big knowledge about Communications because he explains really well. I would take him again withou a doubt!!!

I took Professor Higgs for both SPC1017 and 2608. He is an amazing professor who enlightened my view of public speaking and rhetoric. I encourage you to take his class if you are looking to really understand the underpinnings of rhetoric. He is funny and his methods of teaching are engaging. I would totally take his class again!

He is the Best professor I had! I am so glad he was one of my professors in my first college semester at Dade; I hope you consider taking his class! Let me tell you why In his class there was not one day he did not bore us to death instead he would enlighten us and the class would be so much more fun. Hi works are easy just read the book .

His class was very interesting although it was not really what I initially expected. He keeps the class engaged and is overall a good professor. Be prepared to work, it is not an easy class but if you apply yourself fully you will pass.

He's a great professor! He is funny although sometimes might say out-of-the-line stuff but then again, he is a speech professor and all he wants to encourage free speech. Overall, excellent class and entertaining assignments.

Professor Higgs has been by far the funniest professor and the most coolest professor I had the pleasure of taking. The only bad thing I can say about him is when he starts talking about a something of the topic of the lecture, he will go on for a while. If you're a pro Trump or Hillary, don't take Higgs. He makes fun of them a lot.

I didn't know what I was getting into with this class but it wound up being good. The content of the course is very educational and will help a lot of people become aware of the world we live in an how communication affects us all. Higgs was good an genuinely cared but at also didn't have time for no BS. Slightly all over the place; Good man though

One of my favorite profs! Not a class you can pass by just showing up. His assignments put you out your comfort zone, requires you to put effort into your work. Some can't handle how blunt he is but its because he's real. He cares! He wants to challenge his students into higher thinking, this is rare to find

This class is not for everyone. If you really want to challenge yourself intellectually and face academic rigor then I recommend it. But if youre gonna be lazy and complain that its too much work and its hard then it isnt for you. The work he gives serves a purpose. Overall he is a very cooperative and caring professor 10/10

Professor Volrick Higgs, Is an exceptional developing scholar, professor, and caring soul. He is qualified for his field of study as a professor, expect a lot of lectures and reading.

Hes great. Gives good speeches, very good feed back when you do your presentations. Keep up with the homework online and try to give organized/good speeches and youll be fine. Also, make sure if you have any personal issues as to why youre struggling in his class to tell him. Hes super understanding.

The class is not an easy style and delivery kind of class. It is for those who seek a challenge into bettering themselves. The professor is a kind and nurturing soul and all prior accusations of "short temper" are not true. He is passionate about his line of study and inspires others as well. This class was tough, but worth it.

The prof. is excellent I took his class at night. You can tell he loves his career and he does care about his students and grades. Urges you to participate and ultimately just wants to help you pass and communicate effectively. You do have to do work but its not difficult and be good at time management.

He can be disorganized but he is flexible with changing the due dates. The assignments grades wont be on blackboard until the very end of the course but the results will be better than you expect. You will have to go to his office a lot, but it will be well spent time because he really cares and listen what you say. Amazing person and Professor.

Best communications professor, youd have to do a few speeches, very interesting class. The way that he teaches is amazing. Grading criteria is based on attendance, speeches, one essay and participation.

Professor Higgs isnt the easiest but he cares about personal growth. He is skilled enough to be able to identify where each student is at the beginning of the term and then grade us on our growth in the subject. I had a particularly rough semester when I had him, and he didnt give me a hard time at all. He is very understanding and cool.

Prof. Volrick is an amazing person. I took the online course for Speech and he really cares for your grades. He is constantly sending reminders for the upcoming assignments. Make sure you read the rubric before submitting any assignment because he really does pay attention to that, he also gives extra credit but only accepts it if you do everything

I had him for an 8 week course on top of other classes. I would have to drive to a different campus for his class. He is very motivated in his job and willing to reorganize the syllabus. My class only did 2 speeches because the 2nd speech, he wanted us to really do well with it. Gives good feedback and does want you to grow.

Mr. Higgs was the best teacher to introduce me to my first semester to college. He made sure we were getting things done and had us participate in group activities. Very inspirational and very real.

He is a great professor and is passionate about teaching. He is not tough, he does give assignments but they are not difficult. He is understanding but you must let him know if you cannot make a deadline or are going to be absent. In my opinion, he is an amazing teacher, and i find his class very enriching.

Professor Higgs is a active speaker so his class involved firsthand knowledge. I enjoyed this class. I did all the assignments and passed. He helped improve my skills while making me laugh. When I contacted him to point out a mistake of mine, he was very understanding and forgave me. He was professional, sweet, and understanding. God bless him.

Very nice person and gives a lot of feedback on your speeches so you can know what you did wrong. I had trouble with a link and he was very patient with me, despite me messing up so much. Public speaking is always a little hard in general, so it depends on the professor. Luckily, I got a good professor!

Professor Higgs has a very dry personality, he seems uninterested when he speaks and because of this all his lectures sound boring. However, the class is relatively easy. 2 speeches, one in the beginning and one at the end, cameras ON. Attendance is mandatory and a 10 question quiz weekly. 2 essays in total. He will also randomly call students!!

I enjoyed Prof. Higgs 1017 class. He is very knowledgeable about Communication. Follow the Rubrics, as he instructs you, and you will be fine. He gives excellent feedback which helps going fwd. His instructions are clear and concise. The quizzes are not difficult and the questions come from the book if you read. I would absolutely take him again.

I took Professor Higgs online Speech class, and he was honestly a great professor! Professor Higgs breaks down the syllabus where it's easy to keep up with your assignments and gives great feedback when it comes to presentations and essays. I would recommend taking his course!

Prof Higgs is incredibly kind and noble. The recent reviews don't do him justice. Only two speeches, one introducing yourself and another one you got to pick with a partner. No midterm or final. About one or two kahoots but they're super easy. He is very accessible outside of class and he won't fail you unless you just dc about this course.

I had an amazing fall semester with Higgs. Speeches and homework were really easy and I highly recommend. Amazing feedback and overall I'd take this class again if I could. I was scared to talk in front of others but feedback from him gave me a boost of confidence.

My professor was extremely strict—deducted 15 points on an outline for missing one quotation mark, as if it was the end of the world. I once got sent to the back of the class for briefly looking away during a speech, accused of talking and disrupting. Gave good feedback for future instances of public speaking. Speeches and outlines are very tedious
