Coop is a smart man. You do have to try to listen to him in class as alot of this stuff is boring. I think he's an O.k dude and you will do fine so long as you study some. Just do it-you have to anyways..

not hard at all. he is pretty straight forward with the material. he doesn't through you any curves. great guy.
Good teacher,easy to talk to. But don't give answer to the homework, you don't know if you are right or wrong. Other than that, he is good teacher, on time and waste no time.
This guy sucks, doesn't teach anything on the tests, very mundane take- home test that take forever to complete. Run, don't walk.
very smart man, you can learn alot if you listen in class. Unfortunately what you learn in class has little to do with the tests and consequently your grade. The take home tests are a nightmare, taking as long as 15-20 hours to complete.

Powerpoints are boring but are extremely helpful. Wish all profs would make their lecture notes available. Gives a lot of prep work for exams but exams are typically representative of HW and class examples (Expect 1or2 test q's that are strange)
Pretty good lectures. Take home tests suck but you can dictate your grade.
Stay Away - Shows the boring Power Points that are included with the text. Tests are quite hard and it is tought to finish them in the allotted time.
Don't take this class! He does't prepare for class and uses the book's slides. DO NOT TAKE!
If you have any interest in OPER, take anyone else. Tests are too long for time given. Gets mad when asked questions.

Cooper is a great teacher. If you try, you will succeed. You will learn a tremendous amount. some would say he is boring but dont be fooled - you will learn a lot if you want to.
Cooper is a great teacher, but the material can be tough. He wants you to learn and you do learn if you put forth the effort required. He can also be a funny guy if you catch him at the right moment, but he is very serious about teaching. I highly recommend this prof. He is one of the best.

I have taken almost all of Dr. Coopers classes and believe he is among the few professors I have had that I consider Great.
Dr. Cooper's a great professor. He is very boring and monotonous but his class is not hard at all and he is very fair. One of the few professors that I really respect and one of the few classes at UNCC I have learnt a lot in. Take him!
The class was an easy A, but actually going to class is the hard part. He is rather monotonous and relies too heavily on slides. Classes can be quite boring.
The material isn't the easiest to understand and he isn't the easiest teacher to understand either. When it's time for SQL you MUST practice using the examples and slides given.
Easy, but without a doubt, the most boring class I have taken in the MBA program. Tests are take-home and he speaks completely from the slides, like a script!
Dr.Cooper is a great professor. I have taken all of his courses. His classes are very boring, but he makes sure that you understand whats going on. The only thing you have to worry about is falling asleep!
I wish I could figure out what he's even talking about. I read and understand the book, but unfortunately his test questions are as confusing and poorly thought out as his lectures. I may understand the book material, but darned if I can figure out what HE'S asking...
Very smart man, and is a master at what he teaches. As long as you are showing an effort to learn, the class will be easy. Material can be confusing at times, but stick with it and he will give you a good grade
Nice guy, knows his stuff but doesnt convey it very well. The book is not much help. MC on tests can be very trivial and obscure facts from the book so read well. His lecture style will put you to sleep but he is willing to help if you ask. Not a backbreaker class, but I found myself often leaving lectures feeling like I didnt learn much.
I can teach myself better than this professor. Lectures are torture - boring and read from Powerpoint. This man taught me nothing.
quite possibly the worst teacher i have ever had in my life. if you get him do yourself a favor and drop the class immediately. he does not even attempt to teach the course material and has no clue as to what he is talking about.
Dr Cooper is a great professor! He's not nice right off the bat but once he knows who you are, you would say he is a nice professor. My advice is to read, read, read and you will do fine. The SQL stuff comes pretty easy once you learn it but the test on it is crucial. To do well on that exam, do the practice problems. Overall great class!
One word... AWFUL.
Had him for Intro to Database and didn't like it too well, but this class was great. I learned more useful info in this class than any other class in my major. Its a lot of work (all labs/projects), but you will leave with knowledge. Dr. Cooper is a good person once you get to know him. He can be hard to follow, but he really knows his stuff.
Can be boring at times, well most times. Go to him outside of class and he is nice. Does not really answer questions asked in class, but he will in his office. overall, not too bad.
This class is pretty boring, but Dr. Cooper is a nice guy and pretty much curves test grades so that the class average is an 80. Does have a fairly strict attendance policy (for summer, any absence over 4 takes your final grade down 5pts). You probably won't realize that he even has a sense of humor until about half way thru the semester.

He can barely hear you with his hearing aids and doesn't understand what you are asking (which is why others say he doesn't answer questions). Boring class, take home tests have many questions not in the current book. Project is super easy. If you actually want to learn the topic, find another professor.
Terrible professor and super boring. Take this class with a friend so you can switch off going and signing in. The class itself is useless but read the book and with the curve you will make an A.

This class is hard. If you have questions just look in the book. He is going to direct you there any way. I would suggest reading the book and outlining it. All of his test come from the book databank and not necessarily from the lectures. He does curve which saved the whole class.

Professor Cooper is boring, his lectures are straight from the textbook and expects you to read it multiple times and to put his class before any of your other ones. I went to get help and he made everything worse. Avoid him if possible.

Honestly, one of the most horrible teachers to learn from. Amazing person, but I feel bad for him when he's teaching/lecturing and NO ONE is listening. The most monotonous voice possible, and the tests are very different from what he talks about. He takes attendance. Tests are unbelievably hard. But 3 out of 5 tests were on koofers as a reference.
Lectures are terrible. I am generally very into class and love learning, but he makes it impossible. Tells class at the beginning of the semester not to ask questions because he cant hear with his hearing aids, and to come to office hours to ask questions. Tests are incredibly hard. You will learn next to nothing, but will pass if you read.
BORING! Most people are on their laptops or their phones and never pay attention to him. He is super boring. Just read the book and pay attention in class as much as you can and study the book etc. He takes attendance so if you miss a lot of class you will do bad in his class. Take someone else if you can.
WORST CLASS EVER. He is very nice, but the lectures are SO long and no one pays attention in the class. The tests are BEYOND hard. There's a disconnect sometimes between what's in the book and what he teaches. The chapters are long, but anything in them is fair game. "Extra credit" for attending class, not mandatory though.
Terrible teacher. Lectures are incredibly long and boring. Nobody pays attention to him at all. Attendance is for extra credit. The tests are unbelievably hard and have nothing to do with his lectures. He just really wants you to read the book. On exam review days he just reads the book to you. He can't hear well so you can't ask questions.
If you can take a different professor at a different time do so. Otherwise you'll be teaching yourself. None of his lectures help with the exams, which are the only grade in the class. He expects you to read the chapters 3 times each before the exam and make you put his class ahead of all your others. It's possible to pass, just not likely.

Honestly, Dr. Cooper is just too old, he spends almost all of class sitting at the podium and rambling on for 75 minutes. His tests probably haven't been updated in 15 years which is why often they contain questions that relate to nothing from lectures, powerpoints, or the Textbook. Honestly doesn't really seem to care at all.
Its hard to follow his lectures. Hes hard of hearing & gets upset if he ask questions. The only way I passed was because all of his exams are on the koofer website. He allows you to have a formula sheet on all the exams, but he never checks to see what you actually have written on the sheet. Majority of the class cheated on all the exams. No HW
The professor once yelled at someone in class for asking a question as though they were challenging his knowledge on the subject even though the student was very respectful and the professor had been confusing in his lecture. Cooper's tests are about 20+ yrs dated, his lecture content is 10+ yrs. Overall, learned little. Glad the class is done.
First thought when I saw him walk into the classroom: "Please don't die in the middle of the semester!" Not that I'm saying age is a bad thing but this professor is older and hard of hearing. Tests don't match content taught in class. Best of luck if you take Cooper! You're gonna need it! One positive, he allows old editions of the textbook.
