Great professor, cares about his students, easy going, just a great guy
Very clear about what is expected.pay attention and read over whats given and his class can be fun.
Best Proffesor at the school
An great and realistic teacher. A type of chang-with-style guy. His class is fun too.
Indiana Jones if he was a college professor
An overall wonderful teacher. Makes the class very interesting while his attire matches his subject matter for that day. Very knowledgeable about outside cultures and correlates that knowledge into his lectures.
AWESOME...Even though the class was not the easiest I have taken, It was by far a fun class...The slide show was great too.
His class is very easy to pass and you learn alot. All the material is straight forward and as long as you do the minimum required, you will get a B easy.
His tests are brutal, but his lectures are very fun. Also, he is changing his costumes daily which motivate the students even more to stick with his class. It's really great if you want to have a real adventure around the world without going anywhere.
If you come to class and listen to his lectures you will get an A with little effort: his teaching style is a little disorganized sometimes, but the material isn't difficult.
He fun and cool
Great class. His slide shows are an A+. Lots of interesting topics. Tests are challenging, but the class is really good.
He's a wonderful teacher and makes everything in class interesting. Not only is he a great teacher but he's been there and done it.He will show you his slides from some of his expeditions and you will find them inspirational. You need to study for tests!!
He is hot!!!!
He's my favorite teacher of all time! I love Indiana Jones! Awsome class, can't say enough good things about Prof. Guyton. He's been there and done it and is enthusiastic about the subject. I actually think his class has made me want to change my major to anthropology!
I LOVE PROFESSOR GUYTON! HE IS ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVORITE PROFESSORS! HE IS CUTE, INTELLIGENT, ADVENTUROUS, CARING, AND ALL AROUND A GREAT PERSON!! I LOVE PROFESSOR GUYTON! I WOULD LIKE TO MARRY SOMEONE LIKE HIM (TOO BAD HE IS TAKEN)!
Great eacher, most students stay after class to hang out and shoot the****.
Love this guy..very funny and helpful..He really cares!
very interesting professor I learned a lot in his class. Will recomend this class to anyone.
Took the telecourse and he was very responsive and helpful. Very interesting guy! Tests are hard but as long as you study you will pass, the test corresponds great with the study guide. USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!
Excellent professor. Very good class. Stop reading this and register for his class _right_ _now_.
He's helpful, and comes off as cool. But lectures can be very boring, and tests are hard. You can do well on the map quizzes and reports, but his test will bring your grade down tremendously.
Mr G is a great teacher. He has a true passion for his subject and this comes over in his lectures which are lively, interesting and informative. He actively encourages class discussions, group projects etc. Hes got a great sense of humor, and is just an all round cool guy. Hes definately one of the best GPC has
The best! Kind, fun, and very clear in expectations. Tests are fair. Study guides for all exams. Read, study, and prepare and you will do well. Topics are relevant and compassionately taught. Guyton is a born teacher. Try it you'll like it.
Wonderful, wonderful class!
He's a very nice teacher. Take his class and you'll enjoy it. There are 6 map quizzes and 3 multiple choice tests. One research role playing. Easy A if you study hard.

take this man!! he is easy, you can not buy the books not study but pay attention in class and still get a B. He teaches what is on the test's and the map quizes are simple just study the countries. The only drawback if any is that he lectures almost all class but so does everyone else.
He is a really cool guy. His tests are hard if you don't study. Great lectures, you never get bored with it.Take good notes, come to class everyday, and study, you will Ace his class.
This class is boring! He lectures the entire time and bores the class with his most recent trips to South America. Print his outlines from his website and study the countries for the map quiz and you will pass the class
he is the most boring teacher ever known! yea he's easy but who wants an easy teacher tht bores u to death? yyyy?? plz stop talkin guyton u bore us all
hez actually not that bad..if u do ok on the presentation and on the map quizzes..ur fine. dont need 2 study for the tests..theyr multiple choice (guess!) if u do ok on the map quizzes and presentation..ull pass with an A+ thts wat i did :D somewhat boring..dont sit in the front..sit in the back so u can sleep
This is a cool hip prof. He'll open you up to the whole world. Mostly lecture, mostly very interesting. Got a better grade than I thought in the end. He's one I'll remember.
Not one bad rating? Very accurate. Wonderful professor, eye candy and even better a GR8T way to boost the grade point average. He reminds you that college is fun :-)
its a cool class...he makes it interesting because he always dresses in the cultural style of the country ur going over at the time...pretty easy..im lazy and i skated through...i prolly got a 'B'...take him...
True, Guyton is a cool professor however his exams are absolute murder!!! Trust me you won't be able to understand the question let alone provide an answer! His teaching style is cool but his exams are virtually incomprehensible!! Don't take is you need an "A".
Took the online version. Great teacher. Very fun. Hard tests. Concentrates more on examples. Use of students' study guides high recommended. When you understand what he wants from the tests you'll do fine.
He is a great professor, but he doesn't give A's away. Studying is a must to pass with much of it being centered in examples. Focus on examples and you'll do well. I got a B and studied only for the final. That means anyone can get an A if they apply themselves.
Awsome teacher! I really learned alot about this course and was so interested in it Im thinking about changing my major or incorporating it into my current one! Prof. Guyton is an awsome guy, real down to earth and he makes learning fun not a chore. I highly reccommend taking his class!
His tests are brutal! But like everyone says, he's the coolest professor on campus and has many stories to tell from his travels around the world. I would love to take another class from him again someday.
He is easy, I took him online, and as long as you keep up with the reading and log in on test days (there are three)you will do well. I would recommend him
awesome:D
This class was interesting because it really did not serve any purpose. I mean its not mandatory to come and I guess all I can say is that its a really easy class. Most of the work is busy work. You do not really use the book, and he is not the most trust worthy. If you do well on the map quizzes and the paper you can really get by with a B...
The class would be useful with more structure.I took the class not because I enjoy geography, but because I had to pick something in that area, and unfortunately it was a bad choice.I particularly did not like his wishy-washiness and indecisiveness when it came to dates of map quizzes & how the final exam would be counted toward final course grade
I took the online version, and it was a good class. The discussions were interesting, and so was the reading. The tests can be quite hard though, so study study study! Good teacher though, and an enjoyable class.
On line class so no face-to-face but Mr. G posted useful on-line reviews and articles. Some questions on test not comprehensible but mostly fair and reasonable if you read the book.
I found the class very interesting and not too difficult. Students who probably just don't like global issues and big ideas might not like it. He opens your eyes to understanding humanity and cultural diversity. Some of the concepts are challenging, but the class overall is meaningful to the open minded. I liked his passion.
He is not as easy as he seems. His tests are very tricky even though they are multiple choice. He does lecture mostly but is engaging and uses lots of examples. If you have questions, he is happy to elaborate and discuss. Knows his stuff and is well traveled so its not all hot air. Pay attention and take notes! I was surprised at his tests honestl
very nice and good teacher. he lectures the whole class but the lectures are helpful. his tests are pretty easy at the beginning of the test but then towards the end he starts giving really hard tricky questions. overall class is really good. gives 6 map quizzes towards the end of the year which are really easy and can help your grade.
I took him online for Anthropology. You must read, but the exams are fairly easy if you study, plus he provides good study material. If scores are low he usually graces you with a few points to help out.
Great lecturer, but horrible test making skills... His test aren't hard they are just confusing, and even though you know the answer you will be so confused that you will just guess. Overall, he is a great teacher and I would take him again.
Professor Guyton seems easy but look out for those tricky questions on his test. His lectures are boring but the material is interesting. Just do the work and you will be fine.
Mr. Guyton is very enthusiastic about the subject matter as well as knowledgeable. Provides outlines online. Many quizzes and opportunities to make a good grade in the class. Tests are not confusing, you just have to read through the questions thoroughly. I would recommend him any day.
Mr. G is extremely passionate about his subject and very knowledgeable about the World in general. He is very fair and will give you opportunities for extra credit. His tests are extremely difficult, although he offers tons of support materials for the students to follow for each test- you must read your textbook, for sure! It is worth it!
Mr. Guyton is a great teacher. His tests are difficult and tricky but if you study well you can succeed. I definitely recommend him! Great teacher!!
I think that Mr. G is a wonderful professor. Very professional but keeps the class interesting.
very nice, but hard. just reading will not pass you with an a. you actually have to study intensely to pass with an a. he does offer extra credit if you ask, and i willing to help you if you ask him.
I took him for ANTHRO. and SOCIO., and got an A in both, hard work pays off. The tests might be hard but you learn so much and the information is interesting and good to know. I would really reccomend him if you really want to understand your world.Very cool teacher and nice, TAKE HIM
Mr.G is a great professor! He is funny, and makes the class interesting, even online! He offers excellent study guides for all tests, and genuinely cares about the students he teaches. He is open, and willing to answer questions if you are uncertain about the material or assignments. I highly recommend him! He's one prof. that I won't forget!
took this past spring 2010, and his class was great!he has experienced a lot of what he teaches so he brought in pictures from his adventures and other interesting videos. and for the most part always made class interesting. Although fun/funny,he is still serious about studenets understanding the material and handing in assignments. gives extra c
HE IS AMAZING!! His class wasnt a piece of cake but he knows what he is talking about, enjoys it, and really makes it interesting for the students! He is one of the best teachers I have ever had...definately the best at perimeter!
Had him for honors, and it was my first, it was different. His quizzes are a little hard, but if you study the his notes from class and only use the book for definitions then you will fine. He has no tests though and has little projects and survey anda weekly one paragraph commentary, but you only have to do 8. Pretty good and very funny.
I have never met a more boring professor. His lectures go on and on forever...and he laughs at his own jokes. I took him over the summer, his class is easy but so boring. He talks the entire period so if you are into that mono-tone talk all class period then he is the teacher for you, otherwise I would run from this guy.
this was my first honors class so i was pretty nervous but he is really helpful. And he is NOT monotone, but his lectures are a little boring after like the first 4, but maybe it's because i'm taking the most amount of classes allowed :) But it's pretty interesting if you stay awake :)but don't get lazy on those weekly commentaries!
This class was very interesting and the Professor was awesome. Test could be a little tricky, but he gives a curve when needed. All around a great experience! I will be taking his ANTH-H class next semester. Definitely recommend! And you NEVER know what he'll wear to class :)
took him for honors and it was a great experience and he does has an different sense of fashion, but it keeps the class interesting. When you have any quizzes, think of them as tests and you will need study groups, they always help.Do the first8 weekly commentaries so you don't forget later on.Project is easy, fair grader, gives curves, and extra credit.
This professor is cool. He is very approachable and easy to talk to. He makes his class as interesting. He gives you all the tools possible for passing his class.
You'll need to come to class regularly because his tests are from his lecture- not the book. You need to know HIS take on it. The "quizzes" are like tests, and can be tricky. The class was interesting, and overall he is a good professor, but he can be a bit arrogant at times.
Prof. Guyton was great. He really wants you to learn and will often give points back on the test if you make a good argument. Go to class this is a must. Listen to lectures and take notes. Test is from notes and lectures not book. Didnt really need book. Great teacher!!
Passionate professor who teaches a COLLEGE course. It wasn't difficult if you attended a majority of the lectures, read the chapters and extra articles (given at the start of the semester). Gives extra credit opportunities and provides excellent reviews for tests. One paper due towards the end of the semester.
Mr. Guyton is a good teacher. he's really knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. he does repeat himself a lot, though.
He is a great teacher and a great guy. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and you can tell he really loves the subject and teaching. Super fun class, test can be a little tricky, but he is more than willing to go over anything the class is struggling with. Show up and listen and an easy A. Definitely recommend! No major papers, but a few fun projects.
he's very boring, and thinks he's smart. Anyway, hard questions on his tests, but easy quizzes. Round your grades. I would not take him again: not the worst but not the best.
he is probably my favorite teacher i've had thus far. the class is extremely interesting and mr. guyton is very clear about teaching you what is on the test. if you attend class, listen to what he has to say, and take competent notes you will probably get an A if not a high B. I will certainly take him again.
Professor Guyton is a great teacher! He's extremely passionate about Anthropology and will lecture the whole class period. Article quizzes, projects and 4 tests that are all multiple choice and based on lecture (but the questions are a little tricky so pay attention!). Overall, a great experience. I would take him again!
great prof, knows hes stuff not that hard got a B and didnt study much just read the book and read over the notes and ull do fine hes a nice guy and helps if u ask
His lectures can be a little boring sometimes, but he's a great teacher and sort of makes up for it with his personality. Helpful, and curves the grade when needed.
He's fair, and I found very interesting. Sort of deep but trying to show how the subject is important to your life. Some good class discussion. He's always prepared and try's to make material interesting. Likable too.
Dr. Guyton was very interesting and I enjoyed the class. It made learning fun. But you need to be in class to get a good grade.
Professor is really nice. Class is easy but the exams are fairly hard. Timed so you have maybe a minute per question and can be worded tricky. The assignment is a walk in the park, final is all in the study guide he gives.
Professor Guyton provided an excellent course. I really enjoyed this class and wish he offered other courses that I needed to take. He was very clear on what was expected of you and what was on your exams. The activity report was the absolute best! Be prepared to read a lot though, it is interesting stuff, because your exams are very detailed.
He is a great teacher .
The pinnacle of a teacher, absolutely fantastic. Classes are fun, engaging, and you actually learn something you will find yourself thinking about and mentioning again and again. Take Anthropology with Guyton and you won't regret it.
I remember last semester I had professor Guyton as my socialogy teacher for being in the honors class. He makes socialogy so interesting and deep. When I say interesting and deep I means he talks about the world in general. He talks about unemployment rates, proverty, gun shooting etc). I would recommend you to take his class and take good notes.
Harder than the average sociology class. Must use book for reading. Lectures are boring, but he is a great person but the class is very boring. Test can make you think it's a psych class and although it's multiple choice, he tries to confuse you. You must study and read and go over his notes. You will have to see for yourself to understand.
He can be funny and his lectures are good. He was not very nice to a student he didn't like and talked about that student openly in a unprofessional way. As long as you're quiet, participate here and there, and do the work, you'll be set.
Professor Guyton inspired me to major in anthropology! He is a kind, knowledgeable person who is not looking to fail anyone! If you take good notes you won't even need the book, his tests are easy enough & he is serious about helping during office hours, if you need. Great class, great teacher!
He's a fun professor! The textbook was technically mandatory, but it was mostly supplemental and I only used mine once, so if you plan on going to all lectures, then I wouldn't bother with the book. Attendance isn't technically mandatory, but it definitely helps, because a lot of the quizzes are highly detailed.
Gives extra points on quizzes (multiple choices). Just be sure to study and you will be fine.
Dr. guyton is a great person and even through an online class you can see his passion for anthropology and that he just wants to share that passion! he gives small extra credit on quizzes, and is Very helpful and willing to meet you halfway. My only gripe is that his quizzes are worded strangely and that makes them difficult.
Wow! I got to retake this class again! I went in that online summer class thinking that I would have an easy A, but no! This class was very frustrating, particularly for the non-native English speakers. His quizzes were worded strangely and confusing, plus the given time werent enough. For instance, he gave 25 questions for 40 mins, that!!!
Overall, this is a decent class and it's not terribly hard online. However, I often get 100% on my tests in a lot of other classes. But so far I've gotten only 100% on one test out of 3 this semester. There are a lot of typos in the tests, and even incorrectly graded questions (which he later fixed). One assignment every two weeks (quiz) is nice!!!
This was the most frustrating class I've taken, expects you to read absolutely everything like the previous person stated not friendly for non-native English speaker. Majority of the quiz questions are tricky and have a lot of typos. I wish he was more straightforward with his questions.
Mr Guyton is the worst professor to take online. Right now, I am in his mini mester and I am regretting this class with him. The quizzes are 90 % of your grade but the questions that he asked are trick questions, you must read the chapter that he asked or you won't even have a chance of passing the class.
Very seasoned anthropologist, Professor Guyton. You get an A in this class by reading either the textbook chapter on the week's topic and/or his 'Anthropak' summary of it. You have to have at least some understanding of the concepts to see through the tricky wording. Read every answer choice, and trust me, it's easier than folks make it out to be.
Professor Guyton is a great anthro teacher. I took his online class, and he gives you all of the information you need to know for each quiz before them. The quizzes can be confusing. The study guides are great, they have basically everything you need to know. He's hilarious, caring, and a overall great professor.
This was the WORST class Ive ever taken. I do not recommend that you take it online. Hes hard! You never know where his test come from he will tell you but it wont add up. You cannot skim the book to find the answer kind of deal. He wrote his own book but nothing comes from there. Dont not take him if your looking for an easy A. Its Not it!
The only way to secure an A, is not knowing the material Bc nothing that appears on the test resembles any of the material. Quizzes are tightly timed, Worded in long loaded sentences w hardly any time to pause and think. Either memorized by heart Or gather w others to take turns taking the quiz. Textbook: good content, needs work.
Mr. Guyton wrote his own textbook, which means that even in a mini-mester, you only have to read about 10 pgs a chapter, which is a pretty good deal. His quizzes aren't very hard, and there isn't a major cumulative final, which was nice. Overall, if I had space in my schedule, I would 100% take him again- he is a really great professor.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! This is no easy A. He has no empathy towards the work overload. This professor has his own textbook. The reading is too WAY much and his quizzes are nothing like what he talks about in the textbook. He is really nice and I can see he really loves what he does but I'd 100% recommend finding another professor.
The professor is very nice but his class was just the worst. The quizes has nothing to do with what you read and he has his own textbook and it was just very challenging. He is a tough grader but a pro is that he gives a few extrea points in each tests. But, I don't recommend him at all.
Very SNARKY. The biggest issue isn't the content, it's the delivery. Everything is written and explained in a way that feels intentional dense, like he's trying to prove how intellectual he is instead of helping students understand the concepts. The zooms are meaningless. You will work twice as hard for this class and ultimately learn nothing.
