Horrible teacher--jerky movements and rambling lectures. Frustrating. SO frustrating. Tests don't reflect how much my friends and I studied. Questions are very confusing. I spent most of class just trying to get over my disgust of his teaching style, though he's probably a good person.

Tests and quizzes do not reflect material at all; they mostly come directly from his 'examples' from lectures which are good and demonstrative at the time, but which seem irrelevant when the test is given. I wish he would just use the book.

This course consists of loads of online assignments, tests, and dull lectures. Prof made this class asynchronous, which was extremely difficult, and when the majority of the class complained, nothing changed. Tests included weirdly specific questions from the reading and it was honestly an extremely stressful experience. Absolutely no interaction.

I personally didn't love his lecture style. He's definitely passionate about the topic, but I felt like he came off as a bid stand-off-ish. Overall, nice, just not my style. You have to go to lectures and do readings to be successful in this class. I'd take a different psych prof for intro to psych if you can.

Disrespectful and stand-offish. Super boring lectures, and has absolutely zero flexibility for exams/homework/lectures even during COVID. Needs an attitude check.

I think the Prof is really passionate and the tests were all super easy. he didn't test any niche details and if you watched the lectures and made detailed notes, then you'll be fine. Also super passionate and sweet.

Literally the quirkiest professor you'll ever have. Nice guy but EXACTLY what you would imagine a college psychology professor to be. Reading is manageable and if you took AP Psych in high school the tests will be a breeze. Fair warning, sometimes random things he says in class will be a test question so be sure to write everything down.

Prof. Parrot's a funny guy, and really tries to get his class excited about the course material. He isn't particularly accessible outside of class, though, and most of the instructor-student interaction is through the TA.

Worst psych professor I've had out of all psych classes I've taken at Georgetown. Lectures are dull, boring, and irrelevant for exams. He wrongfully graded one of the midterms and the final exam by "mixing up" student scores. Not an engaging course regardless of how interesting the subject is. Self-taught the entire course with the textbook

This class was very unfair. The grade was made up of 3 midterms and a final exam all multiple choice. No extra credit or curve, and even if you did the textbook readings, the multiple choice was extremely difficult. Do not recommend.

He's a pretty nice guy, and the class gets better throughout the semester. The exams are... a time. Several questions are random things from the reading or a lecture, including "as Prof. Parrot said in a lecture one time..." questions, word for word. The homework is manageable if you don't spend a lot of time perfecting the material.

Fantastic professor! Super funny and I loved the lectures. If you don't want to attend lectures you can just read the textbook and do fine on exams, but if you don't like reading you can just attend lectures and also do fine. Highly recommend his class. Tests were incredibly straight-forward and he removes questions if most people get them wrong.

He is good at explaining topics because he's been doing it for a long time! Great professor for Gen Psych and Social Psych- Take him!

Avoid if you want to learn anything of value. No personality or zest. Did nothing to raise already low opinion of psych. Presents pseudoscientific guesses as settled facts. Preaches at you rather than teaches to you. Wont tolerate doubts or criticisms from students. Dishes out As as copiously as a feel-good psychiatrist doles out amphetamines.

I feel bad as he seems nice enough outside of class and has a lot going on, but I HATED this class. Assigned journal articles to read before each insanely boring class, and most of what we learned about has absolutely no relevance to real life. Harsh grader and often rude in his comments, but if you have no other option it's not that terrible.

Professor Parrott is a great choice for intro to psych! He tailors this class to first years, and allows you to drop your lowest quiz and midterm. Lectures can be dry at times, but he tries his best to make it interesting. At the beginning keeping up was hard, but it eventually got easier. As long as you take good notes and study you will be good!

He is a nice guy and the class is tailored to first years. He drops your lowest midterm and quiz, but the tests are very lecture heavy so attendance is basically mandatory if you want to do well. He adds in questions about random stuff he has said, and is unclear about what he expects you to know from the book. Take a better prof if you can.

I find large lectures in all classes pretty boring, and I think he did a good job to keep things engaging given the circumstances. Him and his TA(Sam this semester, she is great!) were very accessible outside of class. Tests are easy if you review and pay attention to lecture. VERY helpful with accommodations if you are proactive about telling him.

He's fine. He's just boring. In a seminar setting with just 15 students, he asks us what we thought about the reading and the students carry the conversation. Fun visual aids and probing questions are needed. He'll call you out if you're on your computer too much. He's also a pretty harsh grader on the paper we have. I would take another seminar

Prof. Parrott isn't the most captivating, but he's nice and his grading policy (lowest of 3 midterms and 4 quizzes dropped) is great.
