I was pissed off at first but later thought how he was just getting me to think hard about stuff which not many teachers do sometimes

He was a very good teacher, very helpful and also makes his students think about the things that are going on in this world. Very Good and Fun Professor.

Professor Tarzia is very helpful and encourages us to write more.

Mr. Tarzia is a little moody, but that kind of adds to his mystique. He is very smart and is a writer himself. You can learn a lot if you ask questions and force yourself to think deeply and be ready to argue your points. He's also a hottie. I would have asked him out but could not get up the nerve.

I never had him but, have actually worked with him. I dont konw, theres something about someone that speaks Old English. He seems hard but that might make you get a better grade and to understand the material.

1st off- he really knows his stuff, big time! His classes are informal and based on real conversation instead of planned speeches. He makes you think about things that are really advanced and hard to grasp even in low level classes. Though that can make some classes hard, he's really fair and sympathetic with his grades if you just care. Overall, he's an open minded guy, but sometimes his own preferences get in the way just a tiny bit. Take his class anyway. He's real cool.

Dr.Tarzia is experienced and helpful. He is very encouraging, and actually cares that his students learn to be great writers. He is funny and casual, but also tough and will make you work hard for a good grade. If you get an "A", you really deserve it. I highly recommend him. You will learn about anthropology too - it's like two courses in one.

Not too bad. Grades kinda hard. Essays are doable, not too many but not too few. Lots of intresting topics talked about in class. I got an A finally but took me three essays to get there!

I didn't know where Wade was going with this class in the beginning, but it turned out to be a really fun class. He IS a very hard grader, though. I'm used to getting A's but never managed more than a B on any of his papers. I would definitley take him again, though!

In response to some of the comments I've seen: 1. He DOES give A's if you write a paper worthy of one. 2. He is a tough teacher, and if you are in school to learn then why wouldn't you want a teacher who expects the best from you? 3. Someone said he thinks he works at Yale. What's wrong with that? A Yale worthy class at NVCC is a gift.

I agre his was a tuff teacher someways but always found he was willing to help and give extra. he gets confused if yur essays are late or were not passed in with all the stuff he wants like title first draft with his comments. Worth taking if your not lazy and will keep up. warning: suroprize quizzes so do the reading!!!!

I liked the course. I really learned something and this is the 2nd time I took course and know what Im talking about. Tarzia is fun but he needs to make sure all students on group projects do the work cuz they dont!

Prof Tarzia is a great teacher. Don't believe the negative comments. He IS a tough teacher, and you need to work hard for an A, so what someone else said about not being lazy is true. If you want an easy class take someone else. If you want to learn and trully earn a good grade, take Tarzia.

I took Mr. Tarzia 2 semesters in a row. The first semester was very hard and I swore I would never take him again but I ended up getting a B-. I took him again to challenge myself and ended up with a solid B. He is a tough teacher but an awesome guy. If you put in the time he is willing to do whatever it takes to help you out. Highly recomend.

i liked class tho had to drop for other reasons. i'd take him again. lets you do assignments over if you get low grade!

i enjoyed class and professor. he's very funny, tries to keep it intyeresting, and offers extra help if you see him in office. a little hard, but not so so hard. you earn your grades. very fair on rewriting essays for better grades

If you are looking for a class to just slide by in - don't bother. But if you are well motivated and actually want to succeed - Tarzia is the teacher for you. This was my favorite class.

great teacher, makes you think and if your willing to think you will take even more out of the class. if you know how to write, you will get a good grade. if your lazy forget it, of course if you cant get better than a B in his class you really dont belong in college.

Omg. This professor is really hard. His his teaching style is intresting. But don't think you will ever get an a in his class. All his tests and Quizzes are all essays so have fun.

A little on the tough side, because he wasn't entirely clear on what would be on tests. He said that it was tough to get As on his papers, but I managed to pull it off - just had to put some thought into what I was writing. As far as personality goes, Tarzia is an interesting guy. It's fun to listen to him talk about his life.

I TOOK HIS CLASS AND ALMOST AT THE END DECIDED TO ASK FOR AN N GRADE. HIS CLASS IS NOT DIFFICULT, HOWEVER, IT IS IF YOU ARE TAKING OTHER CLASSES THAT YOU ARE WORKING ON PAPERS EVERY WEEK. HIS CLASS WAS INTERESTING. HOWEVER, IF I WANT TO GET NVCC OVER WITH, I CHOOSE TO GO WITH ANOTHER PROFESSOR.

Took English with him 3 years ago. He is tough but if you do the work and show some effort, you will do fine. Took his class with 2 other science classes with labs and still got all A's. All you complainers out there just want to mindlessly wander through classes to get a degree and you need to think hard about why you are in college.

Wade, Wade, Wade Tarzia

Great prof, wild and funny, interesting stuff done in class, more work than some profs and less then others, don't know what the compalints are all about, maybe the three worst students in the class who never did nothing especially in group work???

Tough teacher but is very energetic, jumping on desks, doing push ups, etc. A good portion of reading to do and he isn't one of those teachers you would take to just get through courses. He is a professor you would take if you are actually interested in learning.

Had him for a 200 Level English "Science fiction and Society" Not to bad for a professor, requires you to read alot and quizes you on what you've read to make sure you did the readings. Had a total of 5 eassays for a total of 15 pages, he just wants to be creative and write about a different prospect on what you write.

Philosophy. I enjoyed this class. He is funny, energetic and intelligent. I saw a lot of bad ratings on this page and clearly these people do not realize it is a college level course which requires not being lazy and actually doing work. If you really want to learn I would take this class. He is an amazing professor but be prepared to work!

Despite what most people believe, Tarzia is the best damn teacher at Naugatuck. Some days I hated him, but I ALWAYS looked forward to going to class simply because of how passionate he is when teaching. He makes you work hard but it's because he wants you to learn and if he sees that you work hard then he grades you fairly. Highly recommended.

Fantastic teacher. Really is passionate about the subject material. If you want a teacher that will let you slide, look elsewhere. If you want to learn (God forbid), he's your guy.

attendance/completed assignments are key to a good grade..very fair and if you like the material it's a great class. Tarzia makes it iteresting and tells great stories. Do the work and come to class, ask questions, be creative!

One of the most interesting and compelling professors I've had. Difficult on the doltish slackers that oft take his 101 classes, but inspiring for the erudite few.

Awesome teacher. Made me want to switch my major! Going to class is a must which I feel should be. I would definitely suggest him to anyone who wants to learn and work for their grade.

I admit, this class isn't the easiest and the assignments aren't the clearest, but if you ask for it, he WILL help you. It's one of those classes that you do what you have to do. If you're a looking for an easy A, this class isn't the one for you. If you're looking to learn, then you will learn. Discussions are what you make of it so participate.

I took both his comp 101 and comp 102 classes, and he is a difficult teacher. He is also extremely helpful with essay writing. If you are in college to get a piece of paper with no knowledge to back it up, then don't take his class, but if you aren't afraid to learn something, then I recommend taking his class.

Oh boy, I had the first 2 english courses not with him, lol and got A`s, but not this one. he is superhard. Damn. I drop it. He hardly gives A`s, he tells you that before class start. You have to settle for a B mostly. Plz if you taking his class, do his readings, or else big pb. He wish me good luck when I told him I drop it and give him reasons.

Professor Tarzia is the best professor at NVCC. He demands excellence and will not lower his standards to make you happy. He is incredibly difficult in the best way possible, take his class if you actually want to use college to learn something. A's will be a rarity in his class, but that shouldn't discourage you. Do the work and READ the material

Professor Tarzia is not an easy professor. He can be difficult, but he really cares about his students. Don't take his class if you want an easy A. If you do the readings and put honest effort into your work, you'll do fine. He is ALWAYS willing to help you, too!

Its true, people will likely not get an A, I told him I will get an A! With Tarzia it was tough, but no one gave me a love for poetry and Shakespeare like he did. I did some of my best writing in his class. Not an easy A and not for the faint of heart because he expects you to attend class and follow directions. He works with anyone who cares.

I've read a few negative reviews on Tarzia and I can't agree with them. Go to class, read what he assigns, and do the homework. He may go off on a tangent but he's an interesting and good guy, respect him by going, try your best, and you'll have a good semester with a good grade.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE NOT A GOOD WRITER! I cannot stress this enough. Tarzia is a great teacher who constantly makes connections to the real world so you can understand things. He is also very understanding. However all work is done with essays. You will not pass if you cannot write well.

Take him! You will not only learn a great deal, he will make it interesting while you do. Loved his class he's brilliant.

I think Prof Tarzia was a solid professor. He definitely cares about his work. He has a lot to offer and I enjoyed the class. Don't expect to pass unless you show some effort though.

Amazing! I learned so much about critical thinking and how to write a solid paper, I am VERY happy I was able to meet Prof. Tarzia and take his class! Be sure to really make an effort and he will notice!

One of the best classes I've ever had. He's the kind of professor that wants to help you reach your full potential, but you must be willing to put in the effort. So much of what I learned left a great impact on me. If you genuinely want to gain an understanding of the material, and you're willing to apply yourself, then take this class.

Clearly passionate about the field of anthropology, tough but fair grader. You can always ask to do make up work and hes happy to help if he can. Funny guy with a dry and sarcastic sense of humor. You will have essays, one major one due by end of term. Makes you work for your grade, as a good professor should.

Professor Tarzia's philosophy class was one of my favorite classes I've taken. If you attend his classes, read the text, and show a decent amount of interest in class discussion then this class really isn't so bad. His exams are lengthy but they're based off the text and as long as you read you'll be fine. I think he's funny, a really cool guy.

Professor Tarzias class completely depends on the class as a whole. If the class reads the assigned chapters every night and participates in the class discussion, it can be entertaining. If nobody reads, it can get boring at times. We had quizzes on every chapter we read they werent that difficult. Most were open note. If you read you pass

Unfortunately, if you are not ready to put in the work, this class it not meant for you. Prof. Tarzia is an excellent source of knowledge if you are interested in learning.

Passionate & entertaining, but intense, stern, & difficult. Humor is very niche. Don't arrive late. To prep for harsh grading read everything in advance & take notes. Don't expect an A. But if you want to learn a LOT, engage in discourse, and hear wonderful personal anecdotes from an incredibly fascinating man, Professor Tarzia is the right choice.

Professor Tarzia's class is intense but rewarding. He's passionate and entertaining, but can be stern and difficult. To do well, read the textbook thoroughly, take detailed notes, and engage in class discussions. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for my study prep.

Professor Wade was an amazing professor. I will take more classes with him.
