I had him for Biology Support as well as my Biology Tutor. By far one of the greatest professors I've ever had. Just when you think you cant break the material down any further....HE CAN!!
best tutor ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had him for bio, chem, math, and physics tutoring, he really help you and he is funny 2!
Don't have him as a teacher but he's an amazing tutor, besides being extremely funny and pleasant to be around!
Simply amazing. I definitely recommend him as a professor to anyone interested in taking this course. He's great!
Best tutor ever! He is so clear and teaches everything at your specific pace. I didn't even need to read the text book because his explanations were just so much better. I received an A in general chemistry because of this guy! He is awesome! He really cares about his students and he has a true passion for teaching. Cute too!
He's an amazing professor and teacher! He breaks everything down for you as well as stays after class to help you if you don't understand. I recommend him to everyone! An amazing tutor too, you are guaranteed A's!!
I took his Biology course and I enjoyed it very much. I got a B in the course and would have an A if I would've payed a little more attention. He is an amazing professor and I recommend this class to anyone
knowledge very well rounded, Very helpful, very approachable, makes understanding the subject easier and makes the class fun, I would definitely recommend his class and for private tutoring.
He is a very knowledgeable person who puts his students before himself not only so they can pass the class but receive an A for it. He cracks jokes here and there and is fun to be around. Extremely helpful and highly recommended. If you ever need help with math and bio, you know exactly who to reach out for. :)
He is by far the best Professor. He is very engaging, attentive, and funny. He will help you in whatever you need ranging from math and science courses. If you're debating whether or not you should take his class, do not think twice and pick him.
Professor Ashraf is the most amazing professor and tutor ever!! I tend to not like math but he made it fun and easy. TAKE HIM if you can. He will enhance your experience at Rutgers so very much! I am definitely glad I had the chance to meet him.
Very interesting
Some tests are hard because he's not always clear on questions and what he specifically wants.
Decent person I guess. My advice is to study every detail even the small ones when preparing for a test or quiz because during a lecture if he gives information about a random subject then on the quiz or test he may give a question about it. But its a great class because in the end you actually end up learning something.
Ashraf is a great teacher that does his best to ensure his students understand the content. He really cares about his students and treats them as people. He is also knowledgeable about math so don't be afraid to ask him about how to do synthetic division. *Note: These comments only apply if you can deal with his sarcasm.
Professor Ashraf is a respectable professor who makes you work for your grade and truly wants you to understand the topics he teaches you. He offers great assistance outside of class and is an understanding person. He's a great professor to have, you should take him if you can!
He alright, but he a little too sarcastic. I secretly love this class, but i wished he would change the way he grades.
Professor Ashraf is a great teacher. He tends to breaks things down to make sure you understand what is going on. He tries to make the class have a chill feel. Whatever is learned in class will be on the test however, so study. Overall he is a good professor and he cares about each one of his students.
Prof. Ashraf is a great teacher. He does a good job at making sure you understand. His grading is a little rough but I think I am genuinely learning in his class. He is understanding with his students, genuinely cares about them and tries to build a connection with them. I would definitely recommend him and if I could, I would take him again.
Professor Ashraf is an honest and relatable teacher. He is a rough grader but it is reasonable, he provides many chances to receive the A. He ensures understanding in his students and provides an interactive lecture so you will not be sleeping in this class. He is a great teacher and would go out of his way to help you in any way possible.
Professor Ashraf is very clear and detailed in his teachings. Pretty chill dude, but his class isn't anything you can just b.s.
Professor Ashraf is a tough grader, but if you pass a quiz/test it is because you honestly deserve it. I enjoy the lectures that take place, as I find myself able to retain information better.
Professor Ashraf has a very student-oriented personality. He forms relationships with individual students, and even if it can be uncomfortable at first, it is more than other teachers will do, and it makes him more reliable. He is a dynamic teacher with many methods of explaining many things, truly understanding of biology. Would take again.
Professor Ashraf is an understanding teacher who will always take into consideration your workload for other classes and won't overwork you, but when he does, he is a very harsh grader and wants all of his guidelines followed. STUDY a lot before his assessments - you'll need it.
Professor Ashraf is a truly amazing teacher, he will teach you all the material necessary to pass the class although you must be really to study up on the topics since each test is packed with loads of information some of which you may have forgotten. If you were unable to understand something he is available after class so don't be shy to ask.
Professor Ashraf is a really good teacher, he makes you earn your grade and makes learning fun with his witty comments and sarcastic humor. I learned a lot this year but I will remember his class the most because his lectures were actually fun and interactive. His tests arent the best to take because he swears they are easy when they actually arent
Fine class. We learned a lot. If anything to be critiqued on, I would say that he kind of had different relationships with different students. Not that he has to treat everyone the same but it could be a little iffy sometimes seeing him joke around with some students and not do the same with others. Other than that, I had a great year.
The Professor is actually really easy to talk to and teaches well. He mixes up the way he teaches to try to get all students to learn and keep the class fun and exciting. At moments he can grade harshly but overall he was pretty lenient.
I didn't really like Biology when I started, but I can confidently say that after taking this class, I have a new love for biology. I was challenged in this course, and it and it made me know that I earned my grade. I can honestly say that this was the best class I've taken all year, and that's because y teacher was ore than prepared to teach me.
Professor Ashraf is a tough grader, he sometimes isn't clear on what he is expecting for some assignments and takes points off for the smallest details. Despite that, he is a good teacher. His lectures are really informative and thorough and on lecture days, you tend to learn the most.
He's the G.O.A.T
Professor Ashraf is a great teacher, and his lectures give students a chance to take down the notes well. However, I would say look out for his tests, because he can really make the tests difficult. My best advice would be to take good notes and STUDY. If you do that, and do well on his quizzes, you will do fine.
This class wasn't the easiest class at all but with professor Ashraf, I certainly learned. His class is one that you really have to review for because at times he can do some activities that don't help that much. Although, I did have trouble at times I can say he tried his best to make everyone felt confident with the topic. Kind of sarcastic.
Professor Ashraf cares about his students and will make sure you understand the topic thoroughly before giving exams. His class can be lecture heavy but you will leave the class with lots of notes that are easy to understand and follow.
Professor Ashraf is a fine man and educator. I do not doubt that he cares about his students. He really does put in the effort to assist students. His best quality as a teacher is his ability to take student criticism and apply it. Sometimes his class can be lecture heavy and you may fall behind in understanding. However he is willing to help you.
professor ashraf will really open your mind to the world of biology. even if you dont like biology he is a profound teacher, who values education over your grade. professor ashraf will work hard so that your education/work ethic matches your grade, but only if you open yourself to him. my only issue was his way too harsh grading.
Great teacher, but difficult grader! Make sure you know how to tie things back to evolution. Overall the class was very informative and lessons were easy to follow. There is a great variety when it comes to teaching methods so he really reaches out to every type of learner. Have fun, but definitely study!
Prof. Ashraf made sure you really understood the lessons by trying to keep your attention and relating every concept with the last. You definitely should be in class if you're the kind of student who typically needs help understanding more complex concepts. This is by far one of the easiest classes as long as you just pay attention.
Professor Ashraf is by far one of the greatest teachers I've had. I actually have enthusiasm when coming into his class and understand all the material that he teaches. If you don't understand something and you ask him,he will try his best in to help you with various activities. He's very active within the class and his lectures/strategies are fun.
Overall Professor Ashraf is a highly motivated teacher that simplified difficult concepts for us (the students) to understand through lectures and assignments. As a teacher he is wonderful and as a person he is wonderful as well. Having him as my professor was an absolute pleasure, he will give you what you deserve and nothing else.
Prof. Ashraf is a very specific teacher. It is EASY to enjoy the class because it will definitely end up being a great one. You WILL learn something, as he makes sure to spend time on the work itself, and in discovering different ways to find a way to teach. But, if you do not constantly study at home and don't show up, please don't seek him out.
Professor Ashraf was very efficient, I think he made good use of time throughout the year and taught bio fairly well. I think there are times where he could have gone more into depth on certain subjects to help students understand. Overall he was a fair and caring teacher but I would suggest more quizzes so people can be sure of where they stand
Professor Ashraf does not teach by the book. He is a very enthusiastic teacher and if you put effort into his class you will not only pass but learn very much. He is very understanding and does his best to identify and correct misconceptions that students have.
He is a pretty harsh grader but it pushes you to study harder and to really understand the concept he is teaching. Everything on his quizzes he goes over in class so if you take notes and actually pay attention in class you will pass.
Very good teacher. Makes you understand problems well before moving on.
hes sarcastic, but a good guy
Harder examples would be helpful in the class to be prepared for tests
Simplifies topics to a level that can be easily understood.
Very cool proffessor. You have to actually pay attention but he is one of the few that teaches you in a simple understanding way.
Professor Ashraf is really nice. He makes math so easy and his techniques are very easy. Study well for his tests and review your answers many times because he is a tough grader. Overall he is great and funny.
You will learn in this class. If you need any help you should go to tutoring to understand
He explains the information well and works with the student. I feel like he wants to teach not just after a check
Professor ashraf is good. However, he'd make you work for your grade.
Professor Ashraf definetly knows what he's doing and teaches well. You learn a lot of information in class so if you decide to skip, good luck. Most importantly, be sure to box your answers.
Whatever he teaches will be on the test but sometimes on quizzes on a few questions he will try to trick you. The extra credit is usually given to the person whoever solved a problem first
For the 5 weeks I had Professor Ashraf, he has taught me that math is all about procedures and solving problems in logical steps. While class may not be exciting, his problems are always challenging, and he teaches in a very professional manner.
Professor Ashraf is a tough but effective and respected teacher. Math is not my strongest subject but I found myself understanding the content more and actually following what was being said in class. I hope to take him again in the future.
Niceeee Professor. Really cool but if you play around and don't study or review at home you are going to have a hard time!
I had Professor Ashraf for my Intermediate Algebra Course. Overall, he was an awesome Professor. The course is really not easy, you have to do the homework if you want to pass. We have quizzes almost every class. If you do not understand something he is willing to help and show you short cuts and easier ways to answer the questions.
if you were having trouble with a certain topic he made sure to help and provide easier alternatives to solve a problem. fair grader
Professor Ashraf genuinely wants to see his students succeed and he's willing to explain the material in whichever way is best for them. Ashraf's class forces the students to be held accountable for their work. Those who are not fond of him were likely unprepared for class. I would highly recommend this professor to rising math 104 students.
rarely lectures, all tests and quizzes are on the software, over all you use most of the class time to work on the software but probably has about 4 lectures throughout the course
Overall this class was very useful and helpful
repetition is key
If you're unsure about a concept during class, visit his office hours and he will explain it until the point you completely understand it. Good lectures and is understanding but you need to get all work done in the certain time frame or else you will fall behind.
He's a cool professor. If you need help he will help you. You can stay after class and get extra help if you need it. He goes over things he knows we may struggle with in ALEKS.
Professor Ashraf is a really good teacher as long as you do what you have to do, he'll work with you if you need it. Honestly one of my favorite teachers.
As long as you stay on top of your work you will get a good grade in his class. He is an amazing professor highly recommended!
Nice professor, for Intermediate Algebra we used an online source that you have to buy. You learn everything on that online source, sometimes he reviews in class.
Professor Ashraf is a great person overall, and wishes to see you excel as a person not just his student. We used an outside online source and he would lecture hard topics. As long as you do what you need or reach out when you're struggling , he will work with you. No calculators. He
Really good professor, he's caring and he'll actually take the time to explain math problems that the class doesn't understand and review anything. Show up to class and take good notes. If you put in the effort and do the work, he'll definitely help you exceed.(Try to sign up for a course that is four times a week, you'll be more likely to pass)
By far, he is my favorite professor ever. He makes class so fun because he genuinely cares about his students (he literally remembers every single student's name by the second day), and he's actually an amazing teacher. He's also really funny. I hate math but I loved his class. He encouraged me to try harder and I actually ended up with an A.
amazing professor, very helpful and kind and engaging, keeps class fun assigns optional homework that is very important, so make sure you d it.
Professor Ashraf knows exactly what he is talking about. He teaches VERY clearly and makes the material easy. He is a great professor and does not move on unless the whole class understands the material. Take him, you won't regret it. Show up, take notes, pay attention and you will get an A.
honestly a good man. he truly connects with his students. we did a lot of group work in class which was nice. quizzes almost every week but sometimes, they, as well as the exams, can be a bit tricky. def do the HW to help understand the material. overall enjoyed his class and liked learning stats from him!
Just wanted to say.... I love this man! He really cared about us and pushed us to learn. I am now doing well in my higher level math classes. Thank you Professor Ashraf for instilling those foundations!
I highly recommend taking this professor if you can manage getting into one of his sections. He is simply THE BEST math teacher I have ever had in my entire school life. He's clear on how to do problems through grasping the concepts. Great guy too and funny. RU students are lucky to have him!
Rating for this professor isnt accurate. He can go fast during lecture and will only answer your questions when class is over (if he wants to speed the lecture). All his quizzes and exams are open ended and can at times be a little tricky. His answers to your questions can sometimes be vague too. So far he isnt like these ratings.
Hes OK but honestly wouldnt take him again. He gives HW but he doesnt collect nor grade, yet on the syllabus its 5% of our grade? Quizzes every other lecture and sometimes pop quizzes. For exam he just writes on the board whats gonna be on it, thats it. 1st Exam was just 10 problems, a-d, open ended. The class kind of feels half-assed. Ok Guy.
Best math professor ever ! He is really helpful and knows his stuff
Ashraf is the best math professor I have had since I started college. I personally struggled in math all the time and he was the one professor that really helped me understand and love the subject. I used to say I wasn't math person but now I love math and I really can't appreciate him enough for being such a great professor. Take him, he's amazing
Professor Ashraf really knows his stuff! He makes the course material easy to understand and speaks very clearly. The class is not the easiest- so dont think that youre going to take it, do no work, and not pass. Theres a quiz once a week and there are homework assignments. However, the Professor does a great job at explaining everything! 10/10.
I've had this professor for the past two semesters. Words can't describe how grateful I am for him. He is simply amazing and teaches math in a way that will engage your interest and maximize your understanding. I was a C student at best with math in HS, and now I feel like a math genius because I've learned so much from him. 100% RECOMMEND.
Hands down the best professor available for Statistics in the math department. Clear grading criteria, genuine care about his students, great availability for office hours. Incorporates relevant information into the course to keep it interesting. Attend every lecture, take notes, don't be afraid of asking questions and you will get a good grade.
Professor Ashraf has not yet mastered the course of statistics himself. He made multiple mistakes which had to be corrected during the next session. Assigns homework every session but does not review it. Quizzes every Wednesday as well pop quizzes throughout the entire semester. Class can sometimes be practical and immature based. Wouldn't recommen
Please take Stats with Prof Ashraf!!! He will teach you VERY clearly and is always available outside of class. Exams are a bit challenging but he prepares you well through lectures and optional homework (should always do), no surprises. Weekly quizzes to keep you engaged. He is super caring & wants to see his students succeed. Would take him 100x.
Professor Ashraf was truly the best math professor Ive ever had. He knows what hes doing and doesnt mind staying after class to help you if you didnt understand something from his lesson and is very good at further explaining it for your understanding.
I truly enjoyed Prof. Ashraf. He is fair, goes slow and willing to work with you, but you MUST put forth the effort. He is good for testing your knowledge on a test, pushing you to go the extra mile. He really cares for his students! Math is not my strong suit and he truly made learning fun and easy. Excellent Prof. !!!!!
The best. I suck at math and is a horrible test taker but I past with a grade higher than my own expectation. You do have quizzes early week, but he prepares you for it.
I did not think I can become comfortable in math. I've always hated it. However, this man has changed that to an extent. I would take him for all my future math classes if I could. He's very organized with his deadlines which was actually super helpful for me. You should do your best to show up to every class, AMAZING/FUN lectures.
Amazing professor, took him for Intermediate Algebra Intensive and he's one of a kind, explains well and if you don't understand something don't worry just stay after class and he'll go through it with you, he makes weird jokes but makes the class have a better mood, gotta do the work and make sure you go to class!
Hands down the best professor for anything. Give this man his credit! Amazing lectures, I actually enjoy doing math with him. I wish he could teach me in all my classes no but seriously. He is very thorough and wants ALL of his students to understand the material.
Let me just say I was horrible at math until Professor Ashraf came in my life. Once he strengthened my foundations everything else fell in place. He is amazing! He believes in ALL his students. If you still dont understand he will explain in a way he knows you will. Love love love. He made math my favorite class freshmen year.
Professor Ashraf is a gem! I learned so much in his class! He cares about the students, he explains everything nicely and always make sure that the students understand the topic. I would take his class again!
I love Prof Ashraf. The format of his class ensured that we had enough practice before a quiz.
Professor Ashraf is one of the kindest professors on the Rutgers Newark campus. He really cares about what he teaches and wants us to succeed.
I appreciate his patience. Our class would complain about everything, but he was patient. He is an excellent excellent excellent professor! I learned so much!
I have always hated statistics since high school but this class was so different. Professor gave us a manageable workload, there were weekly quizzes to boost our grades and extra credit at the end of the semester. He's a fair grader and very outgoing with the students. If you go to class and put in the work it's an easy A. I totally recommend him.
I always looked forward for his lectures. He made the class fun and interactive. he used very relatable scenarios while teaching.
Great Professor!! Took him during a winter semester and passed with an A, amazing at teaching!!
As someone who is expected to show up to every class, I don't appreciate whenever he would go over something new once, then have us review it amongst ourselves for the next 40 minutes of class time. Homework is due on random days of the week and he'll only grant and extension if he feels like it. Doesn't go over homework, doesn't answer emails.
If you get the opportunity to take his class take it!!!!! Amazing professor who cares about his students and explains stats very clearly. One of the best professors i have ever taken.
such a cool guy but do not underestimate his exams. STUDY for exams because even though he's super chill his exams are challenging.
If you want to fail take his class, tough grader, exams are challenging, when he discussed the lessons it seems easy but if you want to fail to take his class his exams are not straight forward.
Late Review but Prof. Ashraf is a Rolls Royce of a professor. Enough said
Had him as my professor for math since the summer intermediate algebra 105 to winter class 109. Amazing professor, teaches the concepts in the most understandable way, goes over anything u ask him to go over. Low key one of the best math professors I had so far. Gonna miss him being my professor fr he makes the class a fun place to learn.
Class used ALEKS software for all tests, quizzes, and homeworks besides the final. Professor Wahab was the first professor to ever make me actually enjoy a math class. He explained everything perfectly and as long as you pay attention and study a bit, your grade will reflect that. Highly highly recommend this Professor.
I've taken him for 2 semesters and I can assure you he is the real deal, one of the best math profs in the school. He knows how to teach and will do his part, the rest is up to u as a student to apply urself or cruise by. Beware though his class is not an easy A, you will have to apply yourself, it's college, and that just how it's supposed to be.
Professor Ashraf is a tough ass professor. I usually note down everything in my classes but it is crucial to note down everything in his class specifically !! His quizzes and exams were tough but as long as u pay attention and study, youll be good. He is a really witty and nonchalant dude. Don't be afraid to ask questions/help from him!
I really like Professor Ashraf, he is a very nice, respectful, and fun. He care about his students and always looking to help students. I would definitely recommend him for any math class.
He is a fun professor he mostly assigns 10 questions quizzes that he gives an exact replica of what it would be on quiz day. It is very easy to have a high grade in this class.
Doesn't answer emails. Doesn't give partial credit in a math class like what? All aleks stuff, should be an online course for how little he teaches.
Easy A, just come to the lecture and you will pass the class with an A
Great Prof super funny and helps to understand math
Professor Ashraf is a great teacher who makes stats engaging. While the exams are challenging, attending class and using resources like Unstuck study can really help. Overall, an enjoyable and rewarding course.
Teaches and will answer any questions you have (bare minimum all professors should be doing that) makes class WAY MORE DIFFICULT. Assessments are hard he purposely picks difficult numbers to work with making the process longer having a timed exam with no calculators doesn't help. Tough grader. No extra credit. Calls on students randomly GOOD LUCK!
Teaches walks around answers questions (bare minimum all professors should do that). Makes class MUCH HARDER. Assessments are hard. No extra credit. Tough grader. Purposely picks high/difficult numbers making exams harder when you have a timed exam with no calculators not helpful! Other professors teach same material less difficulty DON'T TAKE HIM!
He is an ok professor, teaching is understandable and he does answer questions. However he intentionally makes his quizzes and exams harder on purpose which hurts the student's overall grade in the class. During lecture he walks around the class and looks at everyone's work and he calls people out and puts them on the spot in front of the class.
Yeah, he's real good. He knows where everyone is in their understanding, I need this kind of teaching otherwise I fall behind..
He's a good professor but I wouldn't recommend taking him tbh We have so many timened quizzes and it's juts annoying bye
hes the best professor ever, he really wants you to learn
hes such a good teacher, but make sure you study because his quizzes and exams are hard.
I will never forgive prof. Wahab for what he did , half of the class failed the first exam and he refused ti curve it , he doesn't care about his students and wants them to fail. Would not recommend him for any math class unless you want to fail. We begged him to curve the exam and he did not care like what??? Again I wouldn't recommend him at all

He's the worst professor at Rutgers, 80% of the class failed and he refused to curve , half of the class is failing , wouldn't recommend at him at all
Don't take him
Professor is really nice and he shows that he cares. He makes sure u get it and i studied a lot. However, his exams are extremely. Everyone is on the verge of failing. He sometimes allows extra credit or help during quizzes but thats not enough to raise our grade. My friends had a different professor who allowed open notes, so I suggest u take that.
class is really laid back and quizzes are a few questions, doesn't matter that much as they are worth the same as hw, always provides a study guide before an exam and lets you redo questions after ur exam is graded for extra points, overall nice guy and great class!
He is too honest and teaches. He does hold the class accountable and adjusts to how the overall class is doing. He needs to understand that we are just out of high school and needs to pamper us more so we can be confident in math.
He's honestly such a nice professor. He cares about his students a lot. He always helped us when we were struggling with exam grades, by giving extra credit or retakes. It was a hard class dont get me wrong. But it was worth it because stats is hard, at least I took it with him.
Where do I EVEN START. He does not read his emails at all, and I mean at all. If you need help, dont even bother going to him just consider your fate if you have a low grade because thats it for you. My advice? Say a prayer and hope for the best.
As long as you do the ALEKS homework and study outside of class, you should pass.
He is a chill professor. I learn very quick with him.
I just have to write this. I had him as a Professor in undergraduate and I thought he was a great guy. He was very much for learning and not taking short cuts. Long story short, I don't know how he did it, but I'm somehow able to remember the stuff I learned in his class at work. I am thriving! Thank you so much!
