Do not take this instructor if you want to pass with a good grade. She is very rude, and not very helpful. I encourage you to stay clear of this teacher.
I agree with the other comment. Her class is very difficult and if you get her, change your schedule!
Had to drop the class because it was so hard. Even with tutoring, couldn't pass it.
Also had to drop the class. I have NEVER had a professor as rude as this. Treats you like you're in 3rd grade. Yeah, I'm 35 so I had a hard time with that.

I learned absolutely nothing in her class. I would just have to teach it all to myself, then when I thought I was prepared for the tests, I always ended up failing them. She makes a lot of mistakes in class teaching too.
What a waste of my time. I have never felt so stupid in any math class in my entire life. I took AP Calc in high school and now my freshman year of college I failed her precal 1 class. How lame is that. I didn't learn anything and nothing she did in class prepared me in any way for tests.

What should have been an easy class became the hardest class i've ever taken at uncg. I got an F and i'm sure our class average was a D-. Shouldn't somebody look into this lady.
I think she is great! It's unfortunate that so many students expect to do no work and still get a decent grade. If you are mature (and have even a little common sense) you can do very well with Ms Weigel. Grow up everyone!
I think the last review is incredible since she doesn't even have a Ph.D. She's Ms. Weigel! Take someone who is qualified to teach this course!
There are no PhD's that teach 108 EVER. Check this out for yourself. This is probably because they dont want to put up with the large number of lazy students that filter through stat 108. She really is a good teacher, and there are a large # of other SERIOUS students who think so.
She is the easiest and hottest teacher I have ever had, If you can take her class please do
good teacher - too bad we have to take this class on-line (only 1 lecture per week). It would be better if there was more class time with the teacher.
Very clear teaching style. It's just awful that she has to teach to 60+ lazy students who don't want to do any work, yet want a decent grade. Always willing to go above and beyond to help, as long as you're willing to work.
She is not a good teacher by any stretch of the imagination. if you can, avoid her like the plauge. She does not seem to have a good grasp of the subject matter, becuase when students would ask question she seemed caught off guard and flustered
Goes extremely fast over all of the material. Makes material seem very hard. Please try to take this course with a different professor. Failed majority of her test and I have (well, had) a 4.0 GPA. Stay away!

I did not enjoy the class by any means, and I found the subject matter to be very challenging, but I don't think this has anything to do with her teaching. She was always very helpful when I had a question/concern. I think that so many people are giving her bad ratings because of the fact that, like all other online math courses, it's hard!
The material for this class is not very hard. Her wording on quizes and tests is horrible. You have to guess what she is looking for in the questions. If you ask a question in class she gives smart remarks and just says "it's in your book" or "I just went over that". Take another teacher if you have the chance!
Hard as crap! She didn't really teach. The book and e-stat taught me. Whoever decided that online math classes were the way to go needs to be fired! The prof. gave hard tests and quizzes that were difficult based on the info given. AVOID!
Very bad teacher. E-sat is a life saver. When you ask her a question she gets an attitude. Her test are very hard. She makes the wording on the test very tricky, so when you finish the test you feel like you did good, but when you get the test back you barely passed.

She's insensitive and unethical. I've heard so many horror stories about the professor and to who ever said that the students were lazy--nine classes filled with 60 people each cant be full of all lazy people. Read the reviews!
Ok, I NEVER went to class and got a B+. I stopped going because the teaching was SO bad she would confuse me. I did a lot of work outside of class to earn the grade I did. You really have to be good at math to take this class, or else it is even more difficult.
This wasn't an easy class,especially since it was online, but she was a fair teacher. I bombed the first exam and she was very helpful and kind (even when I was crying in her office.) Going to office hours helps--she was always willing to explain and answer any questions. Thanks to her help, I ended up with an A. Very fair & good teacher!

Math 112 is really easy as far as material goes. However, I don't reccomend an 8:00am with her. It's kinda a drag, but overall she was a good teacher and helpful.
Professor Weigel is a very good teacher.I am terrible in math but she made the information really easy to understand. Make sure you go to class, do the homework and study and you will do fine. She is always willing to help, if needed. I would recommend her to anyone, especially if math is not your subject.
she had to be one of the sweetest people I met at UNCG. She wants to see her students succeed, and if she sees you are trying, she will do anything in her power to help. She is goofy and has a great sense of humor. Go up to her on the first day and introduce yourself and she will cater to you the semester. HONEST!! Overall great professor, & person
Had her for a few lectures while Mrs. O'Connor had surgery. Completely incomprehensible and scattered. She would walk in the door and most people would walk out. She had no idea what was going on with the mood of the class, and often got confused while trying to work problems. Avoid!
The WORST teacher I have had so far at UNCG. There's really no point in going to class because the notes are straight from the book. She does not help when students need help on a specific problem,and has been known to refuse to do problems. Definitely wouldn't recommend her!
Ms. Weigel was not willing to help students in clase in most cases. I asked a question one day in class and she became very upset with me. Do not take the course with her unless you really have to. I made a C+ in the class. I had to study a lot to prepare for the class. After leaving class, I was more confused than when I came in.
The teacher was very scattered. She seemed to be very helpful but was not very clear with explaining things. She would leave out important things when explaining a new topic so you have to fill in the gaps yourself. Tests are easy but they're only about 20 questions.
Teacher was ok. Did alot of examples in class, has a quiz on every chapter in bb, tests only about 20 questions. A little scattered, and not very helpful when asking questions.. overall ok teacher..

I do well most of the time. NOT this time, She is the WORST professor I have ever had from Kinder-College. Like many reviews here she is just like they say. I took this online. Bad idea. I'm awful with math anyway, and this didn't help any at all. She is rather hands-off, only reminding her students of upcoming events every once in a while.
Weigel takes up homework sporadically (grades for correctness) and basically reads the textbook in front of you for her "lecture". I rarely blame my grade on the prof, but I have done every homework, attended class regularly, studied hard, and somehow barely managed to make a C. Her tests are unrealistically hard unless you have a statistics fetish
Reads directly from the text book. literally places text book on overhead and reads. Do not take her class.
Ms. Wiegel is not the worst, but her homework assignments were consuming 2-3 hrs/night, over twice what any class should be. In short- the homework is easy, but very lengthy. This means most students won't learn from it , just try to rush through it. Also - she was not very helpful when i asked for clarifications and/or about advanced math (like combinatorics in statistical probability). If you don't mind studying a bit and easy,lengthy homwork, she is not too bad for a low-level professor!
Unbelievably long homeworks daily. IS not helpful AT ALL if you go to her office hours. Expect SEVERAL complete curveballs on her tests. Take STA 290 if you can, because this class was a complete waste of time and GPA. And when she grades homework, it's a "sampled" grade which means that you don't even get full credit for what you have done.
If you decide to take Stat 108, please take this class with her. I was going to sign up for her class in the beginning of the semester but got scared from all of these bad comments on here. So, I took it with the other Stat 108 teacher and literally learned nothing. I learned more at review sessions with her than from my teacher in class.
This class was more difficult than it should have been. The book is hard to follow and poorly written. Ms. Weigel would help but you have to get past her 'sarcasm'. I thought she was totally annoyed with me but found out later she wasn't. Homework is long. She dropped lowest homework grades even though she didn't say she would.
Overall and good and fair teacher. Yes, the hw will take you around 1.5 hours the night before each class but it helps you learn the material. If you go to class, engage yourself in understanding the material and do your hw you should not make below a B. For the math people out there, this class should be no problem.
My initial reaction was to avoid her after reading the reviews on here. However, she isn't as bad as some of the people on here make her seem. As long as you do the hw and read each chapter, you should do fine. Exams are multiple choice and hw and quizzes are online.
Don't buy the textbook! Luckily I had taken AP Stats in high school so I had some background with the subject. If it wasn't for that there probably would have been no way for me to do well in this class. She does not explain things well and she's very sarcastic. Not a good 8:00 class!
All I can say is that you have been advised by several on this site to not take a course with this professor. I am a good student and performed poorly in her online course. I would not advise you to take a course with this instructor for the reasons already stated on this site.
This teacher is extremely hard and a very difficult person. She even yelled at the class for asking her to go over a homework question; the homework was the due the previous night and we just needed clarity, instead she yelled at us like infants. This class is extremely hard and very time consuming. Please get a tutor and another teacher. good luck
She was not good at helping you understand the concepts even if you went to her office and ask questions in class. I have to retake the class I'm making sure I take it with another professor.
I love math and this class was horrible. The work wasn't so hard but she explained it in the most confusing ways. Most of the class failed every test and I would never take a class with her again.
She is very organized with her emails and what she sends out and it is always in plenty of time, but I would recommend taking this specific course in a classroom setting. It is hard to do online.
Worst professor ever. If you want to fail this course i do recommend her shes really good at doing so. And the course material isn't so hard but she explains it in the most confusing way possible. Her tests are so hard, its better not to attend class and study alone. Greater chance of passing if you study alone rather going to class.
WORST professor ever. Her exams did not match any of the homework and study guide at all. She made everything a lot harder than it was and she was easily angered. Do NOT take this class if you plan on failing.
She is going deff. to get her attention in class you literally have to yell. She is sarcastic and condescending to students when they have questions. There definitely are bad questions in her class. Most of my classmates just got used to not being able to ask questions and trying to figure things out on their own.

Do not take this class with Weigel if at all possible! As someone who already struggles immensely with math, this class only confused me more and made life miserable. She doesn't fully explain the concepts, and she's so set in her ways that asking for a new way to do a problem is impossible. She's half deaf as well, so questions are unanswered.

She has a short temper and does not like to help students. Take this class from Abebe if you can. He is a great professor.
She wasn't an EASY professor. But you're at college, get over yourself. She'd often have quizzes that were announced, they weren't hard. She couldn't hear, but when I asked her for a recommendation she easily obliged and I didn't even talk in her class. I got a 97% on the final. Just study, ask questions, and do clickers.
Worst professor I've ever had. Dodges questions, has strange outbursts in class, does not explain concepts well, and can't hear at all. Do not take any class with her.
It was a hard class for me & I actually like math, so if you dont like it, this is definitely not the professor for you. She is a hard & an even harder grader! I received a C+ in the class & thats because I busted my butt for it. She doesnt give extra credit & she doesnt curve. I was LESS THAN 1% AWAY FROM A B- AND SHE WOULDNT BUDGE! I hated it.

Doesn't even know how to use the projector 34ths of the time. If you ask a question she'll either say "i dont know" or "that's too bad". Probably the worst professor I've ever had. Prepare to teach yourself the material if you're in your class.
A lover of "no calculator" tests! I can tell that she enjoys teaching this subject, which means a lot to me. If math is something that you just click with, I recommend her to you because she explained why a function behaves in way not just how to solve. Weigel is a great professor if you go to class and actively listen. She is my favorite!

Here's the deal. Do the practice problems assigned in "notes". Don't just do homework and quizes, do the extra practice problems. Hit the office hours, she's very helpful 1 on 1. Consider going to review. Not as bad as people made it seem. Tests are much tougher than homeworkquizes, do the extra to prepare. Final is not nearly as bad
I've had her before so the following is consistent. She is a nice person to talk to. She loves to use the I-clicker. She loves to teach math. You have to speak up when talking to her, but don't take offense if she tells you to speak up. Not all concepts were explained clearly by her, so I used the textbook and Internet to help with the rest.
Mrs. Weigel is great. She is fun to talk to and she tries to help. She knows her material and goes over it the best she can. I took her online 150151 courses and received A's in both because extra credit is given. You also have to work for it and there are weekly homework assignments and quizzes.
Berates you for asking questions! Talks fast! Not humorous - likes to talk about her dead cat! Don't expect extra credit or retakes.
I took her online class spring of 2015 and I was really amazed at how easy it was. So when it came time to register for my next math class no doubt this is who I turned to. Big mistake! Actually having to see her face to face three times a week was a waste of time. In class she doesn't explain anything, just gives examples and pop quizzes.
Rambles on, not very clear with whats happening, when you ask any question she looks at you like you're supposed to have a phd in math and makes you feel low and dumb. Do not take.
Okay, so I hated her in pre-cal1 but had to take her again. This time online, she is actually helpful & nice to her online students, went to see her in office once. You'll have a lot of homework & if you do them all, you should be able to take tests and pass the course.
I took online precalculus 1. It's easy A. Homework and quiz every week, 3 offline tests and a final. There are videos instead of lecture, and it's helpful. If you have troubles understanding stuffs, just watch the videos and go over examples on textbook.
Professor Weigel wasn't an easy professor to take. I mostly had to study the material myself instead of going to class since it was more like solving puzzle than actual learning.
This professor moves very quickly but is very sweet.
Moves really fast, does not let us know when we have worksheet and she grades every worksheet I clicker is required and the questions are so hard to do in 1 minute

This literally has been my worst professor at UNCG. Her jokes are terrible, she moves very fast and makes you feel stupid when asking questions. Also not very understanding towards students.
She's a kind person and okay one-on-one, but not the greatest professor in a classroom setting. Go to her office as much as possible and get a tutor if you're bad at math like I am.
Welcome to a tenured teacher's class. Enjoy the horror story. If you do not recieve above a 70% on the mymathlab homework assignment you will recieve a 0 on the quiz. Short story short i forgot 2 homeworks and was denied access to quizzes. My friend forgot to do 2 homework assignments as well. She gave him access to both quizzes. Explain?
The earlier reviews made me hesitant to take her course but Prof. Weigel is amazing. As long as you follow along in class you'll do fine. Most of the material is covered on MyOMLab so use the tools (Help Me Solve This or View Example) or ask to understand. Wish I would have taken her for other math classes.
I took this class my sophomore year and I enjoyed her as a teacher. She moves at fast pace only because she is older and she really knows what she is talking about. . She personally doesn't make the class hard its honestly just the material you learn. Doing the study guides are very important and paying attention helps
I don't know what people are talking about. I took this class online but sat in on her lectures. She is a sweetheart and cares about her students. Math is my worst subject but she made it bearable. Thank you Mrs. Weigel! :)
Ms. Weigel is a good professor. Ask questions if confused! Do your homework and quizzes which are at home and pass! Take her if possible!!!!! Just do the work and talk to her if you have any difficulties. Take her ignore the bad comments.
Be ready to teach yourself everything in this class and get no help what so ever from this professor even at office hours. By far the worst professor I have taken at UNCG, try to take anyone else other than her cause she has long lost the ability to be a decent teacher

She is very sweet and has no problem explaining questions in further detail. She always offers her office hours and/or email if you can't meet with her physically. Study guides are very helpful for the tests plus help on MyMathLab. If you pay attention in class, ask questions, do homework, etc you'll be fine.
She goes over questions in class and works problems. This was a really helpful math class for me. There are homeworks and quizzes every week but they help you learn the material. She also does clicker questions for attendance so missing days adds up. 3 tests and the cumulative final.
She isn't very good at explaining how things work. She can be slow and difficult to understand at times.
I enjoyed having professor Weigel. The only negative thing I have to say is that at times, she did not explain things very well and I had to try and figure it out on my own. Definitely attend the review sessions before tests, they help a lot and you can ask her to go over any topic. I recommend her.
This professor is extremely hard and the work is hard. Perhaps if she tried to explain it would be easier to understand. You will teach yourself. Early on I knew it was almost impossible to pass this course. Course % are uneven for grading. If you are able to take another professor, please do. There is no flexibility at all, Run!!!
Probably the WORST professor i've ever taken at UNCG. She doesn't teach instead she goes through problems & says you got it after every step. Then basically quizzes you during class with iclickers. The iclickers count towards your grade if you even get them wrong. DO NOT TAKE HER!!! I thought i could get by, i regret taking this class by her.
Honestly, thought Ms. Weigal was very sweet. If you have a questions she'll answer to the best of her ability, just be clear on what you're asking. In mymathlab there is 1 homework and 1 quiz due every week. Mathway is useful but if you rely on it, you wont understand material, so understand how to do the homework problems and you'll pass
DO NOT TAKE ANY MATH CLASSES WITH HER. WHEN YOU ASK A QUESTION SHE YELLS "WHAT" LIKE SHE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU ARE ASKING A QUESTION.
This instructor goes really fast during class and does not give good business applications. You really just have to memorize formulas and go to the Math lab or study sessions with her TA to understand it. They explain the questions better than she does. The tests are waited really heavy and she does not curve or drop any grades.

She is an AWFUL professor. She doesn't explain anything, writes so small you can't read anything, and if you ask a questions she screams "WHAT" at you like she doesn't get why you don't understand. Be prepared to go to the math help center or teach yourself because she is NO HELP. Also puts hardest questions on testI would avoid her at all costs.
Worst teacher I've had so far at UNCG. She goes at her own pace in lectures and doesn't explain anything she does in class, and she expects the whole class to somehow know exactly what shes doing. she gives written homework the exact same nights as online homework which is insane.
Took this class online and it was rough. I understood the material and knew everything on the practice exams but the way she writes her tests makes this class a big pain since online students don't learn directly from her (if you take MAT 120 online the tests are in person). I recommend taking this in person and going to study sessions to do well.
Professor Weigel is one of the best math teachers I have had. She thoroughly goes through problems and if someone doesn't understand she will explain further and do additional problems to make sure we understand. Calculus is a hard class so don't expect to not put in any work and do well in the class. She makes herself available outside of class.
Really nice and caring the material is super hard, lots of homework and quizzes that make no sense.
Ms Weigel is a very sweet lady who loves math. She is a good instructor, but the course is hw heavy (both online and written) especially when taken in the summer. There are 3 tests (15% each) and a final that is 30%! Most of her ratings on here are inaccurate. She doesn't make people feel dumb for asking questions and welcomes them.
Weigel put a lot of effort into making this class enjoyable and deserves a much higher score. She kept the class engaged. The class was well prepared for the higher level courses that followed.
