The best math teacher out there!
His tests are very difficult and he uses alot of word problems.
sometimes he is clear on math problems sometimes he is not
He is really hard, and not nice. Avoid him if you can.

An Ok teacher, if you follow the study guide you can pass this class. He is somewhat clear on his style.
not clear or helpful
his test are difficult because there are at a max 15 problems and a bunch of tricky word problems. i have been struggling no matter how much i study.
This class is pointless and boring. It is hard to sit through it. He is not personable, he just tells you what to write down. AVOID!!!!
he's so nice, and really hot.

I took this prof twice. The 1st time I really hated it bc I would do bad on the test, but only bc I never did the hw. The 2nd time i took him in an 8wk course which was really good, the size of the class was about 30.It met everyday & I did all the HW and made a 92. Hes really not that bad.
Stay away...if possible
Look, I don't really know because I only showed up to that stupid 9 am Friday class for two lectures and whenever I had a test. He seemed ok, but you feel dumb asking questions because he doesn't strike you as all that friendly. I got a progress so I'm goi
Hmmm. Doesn't make it interesting or very helpful...
I hate him with all my heart and sole.....does not help what so ever.

I don't know what everyone is talking about!! HE is such a great professor, and obviously...if you don't do the homework, you won't pass...HELLO!!!!
OVERLY explains things that are common knowledge and rushes through the whole "math" part. Open to questions and involves the class. Does not just stand and lecture.
He is easy, but overexplains everything. His excitement for math is annoying and bothers me. He's a geek of a man and i hardly showed up because i didn't see the point
I agree that he gets over excited at times, but he really does do a good job at teaching the class. I just hated that he taught us the hard way and the easy way of solving problems. Otherwise that, it's an easy A, you just have to put effort into attending and doing your assignments.
HE IS a good teacher. He explained things much better than my lab teacher did. He is a nice guy, who is smart. I wouldn't worry about getting him...as long as you pay attention and go to class.
Dr. Dorman's lectures are clear. He provides excellent tips and his tests aren't THAT difficult. The lab instructor assigned a lot of homework, but overall I feel that I learned a great deal from this course. I would recommend it.
Despite what everyone says, he isn't a bad instructor. I only met with him 1 time a week for class, the rest is with a lab instructor. The tests aren't hard if you do all your assignments in class.
When I went to lecture (which wasn't often), I always found his lectures to be pretty clear. They have it set up to have lecture once a week, and 3 additional labs during the week. I found the labs to be more useful than lecture, and if you go to your labs, you'll do well on the tests.
I did well in homeworks and quizzes but math exams are very hard and unfair. My homeworks/Quizzes avg is 95, but exam I did badly and ended up getting a C as a final grade. He will mark any minor error and pull your grade down. He knows I worked and tried hard but still gave me C. Would not recommend him to anyone.
I absolutely love Dorman as a Math professor!! He is easy to follow and doesn't have an accent (a major plus!). There is no attendance policy and you can easily pass the class without ever going!! Watch out for his tests, though because they are a bit tough!
His lectures are very helpful. Walks throught each section and sample problems with ease. The only issue I had was his tests. They were very hard and time consuming! Some of the questions were very tricky almost impossible. I would take him again if his tests weren't so difficult.
This guy made Math interesting to me. (WHICH IS VERY hard to do!) He actually helped me learn. After taking his class, Math 1315 is a BREEZE! Great teacher!
Lectures were fine, test were difficult and only about 15 problems on tests. overall class was alright.
Great professor. Actually cares about his students and goes over the homework everyday that he assigned. Very clear when he teaches, and goes out of his way to make sure students understand material.
Easy if you go to class and do the homework. If you dont the random pop quiz will royally screw you. Homework is way harder than the tests.
Easy to ask questions to
I am currently taking this professor and I think he is wonderful. He is willing to answer all of your questions. He explains everything clearly and is willing to go back and explain some more if you need some help. Overall, awesome teach
Best math teacher, never understood math very well til him. Very polite answers any ?s and all emails, no pop quiz, spend whole day reviewing b4 test and gives 20 xtra pts on final if you show up to class for 20 days, 19 pts for 19 days, etc.
Extremely nice and intelligent professor. Will work with you until you understand. Totally recommend him for any math class.
Take him for college algebra! Very very easy to understand when explaining concepts. Tests are challenging but he gives a great review. If you go to every class you will at least get a B. 20 extra credit points on final based on attendence. Great guy... A for me!
This guy is a great teacher!! I am good at math, but hadn't taken algebra since middle school so I was a little rusty, and he helped me do very well in that class. All the homework is online and you can re-do it until you have a 100. He's very open to answering questions during class and just a very good teacher!
He is great, and very organized, I wish more teachers were like him. I learned a lot and I' not a math person, but I liked it more after I took his class.
This class was really well organized. He has a class handout each day and goes over the material thouroughly. He is extremely helpful if you have any questions and will always email you back. Study for the tests though! Attendance is extra credit and helps a lot! Would recommend him anyday!
i hadn't taken a math in more than 13 years and i got an A in this class. Dorman and his TA were very helpful as long as you ask for help. Your lab grade is 20% of your grade and there is a quiz for every lab day so attendance is important. dorman provided handouts for material.
Dorman is an awesome professor. He always stopped to ask if anyone had questions and if you went up to him after class he was extremely helpful. When I had a problem with one of my grades I emailed him and he emailed right back and had it fixed the next day. If you aren't so good at math this is the professor for you.
the best math teacher ive had. very clear, does everything step by step and breaks it down for you. the tests are difficult though and harder than the homework. but i recommend him 100%
Great prof! If you just do the problem sets assigned every class and go to the labs you are going to get an A! Don't expect to not do the work and get a good grade! The problem sets assigned for homework only take an hour or two each night. I wish I could take a class with him again!!!!!
Really good teacher and explains lessons clearly. Tests are about 15 questions so make sure to know everything when studying. You definitely have to study, but luckily he doesn't require a textbook because it's all taught step by step online so it's not too hard.
If you have any math background whatsoever, the class is ridiculously easy. You do not need to attend class to understand because everything he teaches is on the homework online. The class is completely pointless. So easy that it's difficult if you have trouble paying attention to things. Try to CLEP this class if you feel you can.
Super nice, and very clear as opposed to alot of other Math teachers at Texas State who can barely speak English. He tries to break everything down step by step, and will answer any questions. He loves Math though, and has a hard time understanding why people don't. I find math absolutely awful and I've got a low B. Go to class, he rewards for it.
Dorman is a great teacher, but I don't reccommend him if you're really bad at Math due to his pace. He goes at a very fast pace, but takes the time to answer any questions you have. I'm sub-par at Math and still got a B, but I know people who are bad at it, and had to drop. If you're bad at Math, don't take him, you'll get left behind pretty quick.
I got left behind very quickly because he goes through the material very fast. I got a D on the first test, even though they are only 15 questions long. The homework is online which also made it hard. I would not reccommend this guy if you are not so great at math.
Nice guy, class wasn't too bad. He gives you enough extra credit at the end of the semester that a B or A is feasible. I got almost 20 pts of extra credit by going to class everyday.
He talks really fast. Calculators are not allowed on tests or quizzes. Homework is often but not graded. HW and Quizzes do not prepare you for the tests because the tests are computer generated and he makes the quizzes. The lab assistant was awful, not a good resource. Very unhelpful and a waste of time but if you attend it helps.
Reallly awesome professor!!!! He let us make a cheat sheet for the final. If you try and study you should make atleast a B. He was very clear and always willing to help you with anything!
Great college algebra professor. I would definitly recommend. I failed math and had to retake and made a B in his class. If you struggle at math definitly take him.
He is a very helpful math prof. His grading policy was very reasonable, drops a test. No calculators. He set up an extra help session because people were struggling with the material, but hardly anyone ever came. He really helped me through the difficult calculus concepts and made it easy to get an A. Really nice guy.
Very helpful teacher, he really wants you to understand the material. I think tests are a little hard even though they are multiple choice.
TAKE HIM- GREAT professor!! I am not that great at math and I made almost a perfect score in this class. He explains everything, homework is online and virtually impossible to not get a 100 on. Do the study guide in class, pay attention, easy A
very nice man, came correct
Good teacher, helped out whenever you came to him and cracked a few jokes during class that were actually funny. Take him if you can for college algebra. Easy A.
He always lets you use the calculator on exams. Stops for questions throughout lecture. Very clear penmanship for a math prof. He was always fair and gave us a few extensions. Attendance is not mandatory but you'll do exponentially (no pun intended) better on exams if you attend. Great professor to take, I always recommend him to friends.
GREAT PROFESSOR for math! I highly recommend him! especially if you are not good in math! Attendence is not mandatory but he give BIG bonus points in the end for good attendence! He gives out worksheets every class and also a review for every exam. Study the reviews and you will do good on the tests! Very fair professor.
He is a really good and easy teacher! You do homework online that is due by test date. No midterm. I never went to class except for on test days and came outta the class with a 90! Attendance is not mandatory, but you get bonus points for each day you attend on your final. Final was super easy! TAKE HIMMMM!
if you are scared of math this is the class for you, if you are good at math but don't enjoy it this is the class for you. what i'm saying is showing up to class will give you all the knowledge you need to pass but if you already know it you don't have to show up
Honestly this is one of the best professors/teachers I've ever had. He is clear with the topics and if you need help he will stay after and explain it to you. On top of that he emails back fast and gives 2 FULL letter grades in bonus for attending. Definitely get him
Seriously the best teacher. So helpful. Makes everything clear! Take him!!
Very great teacher! He is one of the best. It's a good atmosphere also. I don't know if its because its a small classroom with only about 25 students, it feels like you learning 1-on-1 with him, like a private school. It's like you'll forget you're on a large confusing campus. He's a great teacher and his reviews for exams=Great!!
Really nice. You dont need the textbook at all so dont bye one. SERIOUSLY. Attend EVERY class. You get 17 points extra credit on your final for it. If you skip, at least sign in. You can sign in and leave no one cares. Ovverral, great teacher.
He's a really good teacher. Sit near the front to have a really good grade. You don't need the text book and attendance isn't mandatory but you should go to the classes to understand test material and to get 17 points of extra credit for perfect attendance. Overall I enjoyed his class.
BEST stats professor! Sit near the front and participate for extra credit. Attendance isn't mandatory but you should go because his notes are most helpful for the tests. He gives a review and drops the lowest grade. You'll have to buy mystatlab but it isn't too bad. Go to his office hours after the 3rd test and he'll help you out.
AWESOME PROF!! He goes so slow so that you can see every step and answers any and all questions until you get it!! He gives out handouts for every class which helps so much when studying lessons and the homework isn't due until the final. I had it at 8AM and skipped every Friday but still made an A because he's awesome. TAKE HIM!!
Great professor. I've taken this course 3 times and I just wish I would have taken Mr. Dorman's class the first time. He makes everything very clear and easy to understand. Gives many oppertunities to make good grades. Definitely the best algebra teacher the school has.
Great professor, explains everything very thoroughly and answers any questions you have. You usually get out of class early and as long as you understand the homework and class notes then an A is pretty much guaranteed, not to mention all the bonus points given on the final for every day you attend class. Definitely recommend people to take him.
best professor I've ever had. explains math so clearly. bring hand outs so you don't get behind trying to take notes.
I hate math and didn't help when it came to taking this course. It's not too hard but not too easy either. Expect homework due online before each class. He rarely cancels class. You don't really need the textbook, but make sure you buy the access code. Attendance is part of your grade.
He is well planned and structured! He prints out notes for you so that you aren't behind trying to take notes. He always answers questions with clarity and is always available to help. If you walk away not understanding anything, it's definitely not him! Great professor. If you struggle with math, you should take him.
Very organized, prints notes for every class. Attendance is not necessary but he gives extra points on tests sometimes if you show up. Do not need textbook AT ALL, but DO need access code. Try to get a 100 on all online hw, but dont worry if you don't finish it by the due date bc he always opens them all back up. Online hw is easy 100. Structured.
He prepare your notes and outlines before class but it's not very effective. Didn't learn anything from him. His tests allows you to only miss one question to make an A since they're out of 19 questions or 15, multiple choice.
I've struggled with math my entire life, but in Prof. Dorman's class, I actually understood what he was trying to teach. He is a fantastic professor, and his class was one of my favorites. He actually made math FUN! He prints notes for everyone, so note-taking is a breeze. Attendance is not mandatory, but you get extra credit on the final for it.
VERY GOOD at explaining info to his students. I was able to understand him very well, goes over each problem step by step. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives extra credit for it! (Brought me up a whole letter grade!) GREAT PROFFESOR! TAKE HIM!
His class was very easy. I missed class a few times and was able to pick-up right where he left off. Uses fill in the blank worksheets for notes and reviews are like the tests. Also make two C's on a test and passed with an A. Just stay on top of homework and take notes and it's an easy class.
His class isn't super hard, but if you are not good at math I would not recommend it. His class is in a large teaching hall with about 300 students making it very hard to learn. He talks very fast and he does not write down all of the steps on paper, he just says them. His class can be very confusing at times, and I found myself going to tutoring.
Super easy class. Gave out notes at the beginning of class and spent the entire class going over them and answering questions. Tests are multiple choice, ridiculously easy. There is online hw every class & you essentially have until the final to complete it because he re-opens the hw so you can finish it before every test. Take this class, easy A.
If you don't understand math and you don't go to office hours slash use SLAC, you won't pass. The Math Illiterate will also not pass because they're math illiterate and it'll take a while to get the concepts. Be decent student and you will get an A for sure. Do the homework, its what's on the test.
He is very clear and to the point teacher and gives handout notes every day. If you come to class and fill in the notes as he does you should make a good grade, and do the homework online of course.
I've had two outstanding profs at TXST, and Dorman is one of them. I'm awful at math and I struggled to pass every version of it in high school. The way Dorman teaches, though, everything just clicks. He is truly a great teacher. I never would've understood math if it weren't for him.
attendance is extra credit. you don't need the book but you need the access code bc there's online homework. you have homework after every class that's due in a week. the material is easy as long as you follow along. dorman is super adorable bc he's like a grandpa.
He is really good at explaining things, and always makes detailed reviews before tests .
I really enjoyed this professor. He went through the steps of what we needed to know very clearly and slowly. He made the class way easier than it could have been because he was so thorough and clear about the topics. Upbeat and passionate about his job. Attend class as often as possible because on days of low attendance he would give extra credit.
He's a great math teacher. Always very clear about what he's teaching and always encourages questions. GO to class he gives you extra points on the final if you attend. Tests are challenging, and homework is not the easiest, but he will help you through it. If you try your best and go to class everyday you should be fine! Only buy online textbook.
Mr. Dorman was a good teacher in the way that he was clear and precise. He didn't waste math by showing you multiple, useless ways to solve problems. He showed you the easiest, most direct and was done. Doesn't really talk to students outside of class unless you take the initiative. I was good at math so i never needed to.
Dorman is a really good instructor and he is very helpful also. I did not receive a good letter grade due to a medical problem but the class content is not hard to understand if you really study. During the semester he gave 4 multiple choice & the final, for a math class that is excellent in my opinion. I would definitely take him again.
When you ask this professor a question, he doesn't ever really answer it. He also has this attitude that everyone should know what he's teaching already, so if you're really bad at math, he's not your guy! Great man, just not great professor.
The only thing that saved my grade was the attendance extra credit and homework. I passed with a D, but I am terrible in math and can not pay attention. He is not clear and rude which makes it hard to ask questions. Having to retake and refuse to retake him. Good luck if you are like me. Go for it if math is a strong subject for you.
Such a nice and brilliant man. He's passionate for what he teaches and it clearly shows. 2 homework assignments per week. Total HW grade is essentially equal to an exam grade. 2 exams and 1 final. The hw is easy, but the exams are hard since they're short so your grade can easily drop.. SO YOU MUST DO WELL ON EXAMS OR ELSE YOUR GRADE WILL FALL.
super nice and helpful. gives great reviews and makes it easy to learn math! only take him for math!!
Took him in the summer for intro STATS. Was a very clear cut course layout, very easy to understand what needed to be done for the grade. tests are VERY important and he does not assign extra credit. HW is completed online using connectmath ($75), textbook is optional. He shows you the statistical formulas and then the easier way using the TI-84.
I promise you he is the best math teacher you can ever have. If you think math is hard then he will make it easier for you to understand, and if you are really good in math, then you don't even have to pay attention... SUPER EASY! He's really funny too. Oh and he hates when people walk out during lecture with out notifying him before hand.
Math is one of my worse subjects so I was nervous coming into this class but Im so thankful I got this professor. He takes everything slow to insure everyone understands the material. On homework you can do every problem as many times as you need to so its super easy to make 100s. DO NOT leave his class before its over! He will call you out!
I went to his offices hours because I was having trouble and he helped me with one problem then went back to his computer and was trying to figure out who was calling him. He makes you feel dumb. When people ask questions in his class he says "well that's easy," explains it real fast, then moves on. Everything in the class is set up very clear tho.
Do the homework, easy A. Tests are easy, lectures fairly clear. Overall, he was a very helpful person. Would take this professor again.
I'm not great at math but I've done a lot better in this class than I have in other math classes. He goes through material pretty quickly but he always asks if there are any questions so if you are lost ASK FOR HELP. He is a down to earth professor and breaks the work down without making you feel dumb. Also, beware of the corny jokes...
I have never have been good at math- but because of Dorman I managed an A. He gives really good reviews & info regarding what will be on tests, & breaks down everything into the simplest ways possible. Homework is online & easy (you can redo it until you get 100s), & he offers extra credit for attendance of which gets added onto your final exam.
He's a great professor, don't get wrong, but he goes reallllly fast. Although we always had homework after every class, you can do it as many times as you need to get full credit before the due date. Homework only counted for 15%, so the exams are critical! Do your best on those and if you are having a rough time, go talk to him!
We always got let out of class at least 30 minutes early. The first test was extremely easy, but the second 2 had lots of calculator processes to memorize. Final is optional. He is very straight forward and as long as you study the online homework, you can definitely pass the tests.
Professor Dorman is very good about thoroughly explaining each individual step during instruction. His class is very dry and it's easy to get bored, but he occasionally tells funny jokes to keep people awake. Overall, not a tough class, just sort of tedious.
Dorman's class was fairly easy. He gives you all the notes and you just have to follow along with him and fill in basically. You must attend class or you will miss steps and topics. There was 2 homeworks every week. The tests were basically all calculator and an optional final to replace a previous test grade. Overall, it was an easy class.
Do the connect math and you will get a good grade. Material from the connect math is usually identical to what will be on the test for that unit. Lectures are boring but informative.
Mr Dorman is an okay professor, he kind of expects you to already know the material so he's not really clear when he explains. Homework is on connect math so BEWARE, it literally sucks so bad.
Quite possibly the easiest, most straightforward statistics class you can take. A handout for notes is given every class that he fills out in class. The handouts have definitions, equations and practice problems, and will be your all-in-one source for studying for the tests. Tests are 25 questions, multiple choice, no labs. Good explanations.
If you are good at math, this is a blow off class. He is really good at explaining the material and the exams are incredibly easy if you do the homework. The online homework was really the entire class and it was a completion grade. Also, he hands out the daily notes in really straightforward packets and we got out of class early most of the time.
He gives one online homework per class, which can take anywhere from 30min-2hrs to do. Tests are short and there's only three(the final is the third), but they're hard. Lots of formulas and material to remember. Tests are not cumulative. He'll give extra credit in-class, if you're not there, too bad! He uses the class day before a test for review.
The type of professor that will trick you when it comes down the test. If you're not good at math, don't take this professor. He doesn't explain where he gets his numbers from in class. He'll give you examples to work on as homework and in class, but then switch up the problems on the test. I attended every class, yet still had to teach myself.
Mr. Dorman is a good professor. He'll openly answer all questions during class and is very willing to help. The tests are very similar to the notes taken in class. Also, he posts the notes online 5 days before class so you can print them and fill in the rest. Not a lot of homework either. Also, he doesn't take attendance.
This guy is so precious; his super innocent jokes make it impossible not to enjoy his lectures. His classes are fast-paced and we are often let out early so that he has time to address specific questions from individual students. He'll release a review before each test which makes the process sooth and predictable. Would recommend.
Dorman is 1) hilarious and 2) an all around great prof. Math is easy for me so there were times when I didn't show up, however, if you're not very good at math, go to his lectures. He makes understanding the concepts easy and is really patient if you have questions. Also, I would say his tests are relatively easy. 10/10 would recommend.
Very nice man. Gives great lectures with printable follow-along notes. Tests are easy, and questions are very similar to lecture and homework problems. All homework online, usually about two assignments per week, most are quite easy. Wish I could take him for every class. Great professor!
Strictly business, slightly intimidating. Lack of personality makes him seem rude I promise he's not! Brush it off, don't take it to heart. Actually try instead of lying to yourself that you did "try" & you'll pass. I did get a tutor but it wont be the end of the world if you get Dorman. This was my 2nd try so that why I got a tutor.
Dr. Doorman is an awesome professor. He made everything so easy to understand, and he is so great at what he does. The tests are multiple choice and easy, but don't mess up because 4 tests are your grade. There's a lot of homework, but he is funny, and makes a class of 400 seem like a class of 10. Pay attention, do the homework, and you'll be good.
Amazing . Probably the best math professor I have ever had ! Take him !!!!
If your good at math this teacher is a must take. Lots of homework, drops lowest test from final grade, lets you use graphing calc. If your bad at math this class will be slightly difficult so put in the work. I don't say that because of the teacher, math is just one of those subjects you have to put a lot of work into.
I am not good at math, but Mr. Dorman made this class enjoyable and I was able to make a B in the class. The online homework is easy and there are generally two assignments due a week. There are three tests and a final. He gives out reviews for the tests and they are helpful to do. He is a really nice professor and I would recommend taking him.
I am terrible at math but prof Dorman made it easy. Hw was online and you have multiple attempts to get 100s (i didn't bc i suck) and he also puts what he's going to go over online so you can print them off and follow along with him.
Prof. Dorman is really straightforward and so is his class. You print off the notes, and fill them in in class. Two to three homeworks per week. Go to class!! He doesn't take attendance but sometimes he gives extra credit for attendance. Tests are challenging, but once you get used to them they're easier.
Lectures can be confusing, but is very willing to answer any and every question. Homework is hard and very confusing compared to the notes and to be perfectly honest the notes did not help at all. I had to use the guide and examples on the homework to learn in the class. Test are okay, not as bad as the homework but you have to know the material.
Not the easiest math class there is. The homework is super easy and it's all online, you can basically cheat your way through it. But you have to actually know what you're doing for the tests or else you'll fail. Lowest test grade is dropped. Final is cumulative.
Made statistics understandable. Liked that he also taught with calculator. Easy to pass if you study
He made statistics easy to understand. He shows you how to do everything by hand and then shows the calculator program. If you know how to use the calculator program, you'll know how to do the exam. Study your class notes and HW problems and memorize the calculator programs and exams are a breeze!
My class had 300+ students so at first I was concerned about how he could teach to this many people, I figured id be struggling but somehow he manages to teach all of us while also answering our questions, he manages the class very well he covers the material kinda slow but better than too fast! really good professor, unlimited homework attempts!
Math is not my strongest subject but he is so good at teaching material! My class had 400 people and he was able to teach well and answer everyones question. Got to class, print out the notes before, do the homework and youll be fine. His test reviews help a lot, review questions are fairly similar to the exam. Hes straightforward but funny!
He gives past tests as review for the test, it's great. They're 20 questions and exactly like the exam just different numbers. I just do them until I know how to do every problem and I get A's on every exam. I am BAD at math, this is my 2nd time taking the course b/c I was getting 40's on tests. Attendance isn't mandatory BUT it's extra credit!!
never went to lecture and am still making an A in the class. all you have to do is study the review which is identical to the test but with different numbers and youre golden. lots of hw but its unlimited tries and attendance is extra credit. overall good professor
He is literally the best and makes this class so easy. all you have to do for hw is follow the examples it's super easy but a lot and then for test make sure you do the review and understand every question and you'll get a 100 on the test because they're the same set up with different numbers. Definitely the best math teacher I could have asked for
one of the best math teachers I've had. If you do the homework, go to the lectures (or at least understand the hw), and do the reviews for the exams (same questions just different numbers), you should be be successful in his class. if you go to class DO NOT walk out early. He will call you out because he finds that disrespectful, which it is.
Gives you all the information you need to do well on the tests and does a pretty good job at explaining how to work problems. He is willing to take the time to give extra assistance if needed during and after class. 3 tests and a non cumulative final, he will randomly adds 5 extra credit points to tests for showing up to class.
I LOVE PROFESSOR DORMAN!!! he is the best. He made college algebra really interesting and the tests were exactly like the reviews so they were really easy to ace. Don't take him for granted, I wish everyone was like him!!! great sense of humor too.
He is one of the best professors I've had. He's super passionate about what he's teaching, and he really cares about the students knowing the material. You can possible not show up for class, do the homework and still do well on tests, but it's not easy unless you're good at math. If not, definitely go to class.
Dr. Dorman is an excellent professor that really knows what he's teaching and what he's talking about. He is a very fair teacher in what he puts on the tests and what he expects you to know. You to bring printable notes, you write as he writes, and he lectures at the same time. Every test is 20 multiple choice questions. Great class! TAKE HIM!
Attendance isn't mandatory, but extra points are given every time you attend class towards your final exam. There is a lot of homework, online, and you can pass if you go to class and complete the lecture handouts. I went to class occasionally, and if I went more I would've passed with a higher grade. He provides detailed lectures too.
Amazing teacher! I'm terrible at math, but Dorman made algebra interesting. I sat at the front of the room, and that definitely made it easier to pay attention (there were literally 400 students in that class). As long as you do the homework, and show up to class, you'll make an A.
I did it to myself for taking Stats as an 8am, but Dorman was a great professor for the times I did attend. I feel as if I went to more lectures I would've got a higher grade, but his teaching style was easy to understand. His test were only 25 questions so very little room for mistakes but does offer extra credit the day after the exam.
He tends to go fast in lectures and sometimes it easy to get confused but as long as you are showing up regularly and completing assignment to the best of your ability you should be fine. He is goofy and nice. He also gives random extra credit points on test for people who show up on certain days so make sure to show up to class!
He is a great personality who gives like 10-15 point of extra credit throughout the year. Tests exactly like the old test review, and homeworks have examples, so easy to ace hw. He also lets you use calculator throughout tests, which some professors dont.
If you have had trouble with math in the past, you should totally take Dorman. He makes learning fun with jokes and his lectures are pretty chill, nothing heavy. Exams are okay, only about 20 questions. DOES give extra credit for each exam by taking attendance randomly before that test. He is such a cool guy and was a great professor to have!
Mr. Dorman is the best math teacher that I have ever had. He is so cool and nice. He is really great at teaching the material slowly and specifically so that you can understand it. He gives a lot of time to do well on homework and gives good test reviews. Also he gives a few extra credit opportunities which is really good.
i would definitely recommend Dr. Dorman to anyone. I have always struggled with math but his class was easy to follow. He gives many extra credit opportunities just for coming to class. If you go to class, do the homework and put in effort you'll pass no doubt. highly recommend.
Incredible teacher and very caring about your success. I would not recommend for design majors to take his large class, simply because the homework was a LOT. He is helpful and overall great, but the homework was a lot more than I expected and I often had to do it 30 min before class because I had a CAD project due or a concept presentation etc...
He is a super amazing professor, I only showed up like 3 times and he was great all 3 of them. He is super good at explaining each step in each problem so if math isnt your strong suit then hes definitely a good prof for you. He gives you literally everything you need to do well on each test so if you just study youll be fine. Lots of homework.
Prof Dorman is a funny and nice guy. He is good at explaining the material and gives a review exactly like the test. I showed up to lecture around 5 times and made a 101 in the class, but I took calculus in HS. DO NOT LEAVE EARLY. He absolutely hates this and will call you out in front of 400 people. He offers some extra credit as well.
by going to class you are able to get the notes and fill them in, if you do the notes and the reviews you will pass the class. He also gives out old tests that are basically how the new tests look except with new numbers.
Love this guy. He's honestly a great teacher of math. Clear on how to get an answer. If you raise your hand he will stop and go over the question. If you stay after class he will go over anything. Theres online homework and he opened all the assignments up so they just had to be done by the end of the course. His tests are like the review.
This class was great. He provides notes that you fill out in the lecture, complete with examples. Each test has a practice test that you could do to study for. If you show up to class often, he awards extra points on the tests. No quizzes, which means your grade is determined by homework and tests. Overall very good class and teacher.
Oh my goodness, I would NOT have passed Stats if it weren't for this man. I have dropped stats twice before taking this class because I was so horrified of stories and being intimidated by the material. I heard good things about this freaking man and I am soooo glad this was the anointed time for me to take this class before graduating! Trust me!
Mr. Dorman is a really good professor. Statistics is hard there is just no way around it. He explains what he clearly is looking for from students on tests and tests are in the exact order of lessons. He gives extra credit two classes after test day so show up to class to do that. You can attempt homework online unlimited times easy 20 pts to grade
I honestly love Mr. Dorman he's a funny guy and he really goes in depth when going over the notes with the class and if you have any questions, he'll go over it so you can understand what is going on. Honestly if you just do the notes and homework online, you're fine.
Provides you with fill in the blank notes he goes over in class, reviews before every exam and extra credit the day after exams, so make sure to attend lecture. Homework is easy with unlimited attempts and no more than 20 questions. 3 non-cumulative exams and the homework make up your entire grade.
I failed math before professor Walter, hes very patient with you and makes everything so easy.. I would highly recommend
His lectures are relatively simple, he has you print out already made lecture notes to fill-in-the-blank. But they do not line up with his reviews or exams! No help at all. When I tried to reach out to the Dorman for help, he ignored my emails and office hours were a joke.
I picked this professor based off his ratings. Well during office hours he seems very annoyed and agitated. He is not clear in explaining. He tells you "oh you should already know this". If you don't have a strong math background his class is most def not for you. He provides notes but they do not help on homework. And his reviews are useless
Take him! He is such a sweet teacher and really cares about his students. Attendance not mandatory but you get extra credit if you're there to do things. His lectures are simple and he has already printed out lecture notes to fill-in-the-blank. His tests are almost exactly like the review and homework! He does have many classes so he can be busy!
He is a good professor and tries his best to help students. Go to lectures to work through problems but other than that you won't miss much. Online homework is kinda a lot but he will open it back up before the tests if you didn't finish it all. Drops lowest test score.
I took him based on the good reviews that I saw but I wish I had not. He expects you to know everything about stats already and does a horrible job at explaining things. He is very monotone and goes very fast. He's so confusing that a lot people just stopped coming to class. You have 2 tests and the final which were tough. Hw online that is hard.
Explains things very clearly, the homework reflects what we learned in class, and the tests are laid out simply and are very similar to the reviews/old tests. Easy class and easy professor to learn from
Dorman is a great professor. He lays out everything in order for you to understand. Ask questions during the lecture and he will help you or go to his office hours. Sprinkles some jokes here and there. Class is NOT boring.
Dorman is great. His lectures are okay, but he gives fill in note sheets that makes it easy to follow. Though he only grades off of 3 exams and hw, you can easily prepare by doing the practice exams and studying the notes. Overall, an easy A if you don't procrastinate on hw and take time to learn how to use the calculator.
Great professor, makes the class easy and the material easy to digest. Would definitely take him again. Super useful practice exams are available before you take each units exam.
I took this class my freshman year of college and its was a breeze, I didnt have to show up to lectures and I still passed, if math comes easy to you this class will pass this class with no problems. I will admit however, the homework is kind of boring and repetitive but as long as you do the homework and do the tests youll be golden.
His lectures are very thorough and although the class is test heavy he posts old tests that are identical to the next test. Also before each test he opens up the old HW assignments so you can gain full credit. He also posts every lecture on youtube so attendance isnt mandatory. Just do the HW and study for the tests and youll be fine.
Dr. Dorman is a great professor! He opens up old homework and allows you to do it so you can get full credit in homework. He goes through EVERYTHING in his lectures and even gives you old tests to practice on before an exam. He drops one test out of 4 so each test is 25% and homework is 25% as well.
Prof Dorman was one of my favorite professors. He will make sure you know what he's talking about and if you have questions, he won't make you feel like they're stupid ones. There is a homework after every class, but if you miss one, he opens them all up at the end of the semester so you can get the credit for them. He's awesome.
Professor Dorman is awesome! He does a great job explaining the material in a straightforward way that makes it easy to understand. He also provides you with every opportunity you need to succeed, giving out super helpful test reviews before each exam that covers what you're going to need to know to pass. I would definitely recommend taking him!
such a good professor! he taught extremely well and made sure our questions were answered. easy to follow for visual learners like myself and wasn't too boring. if you skip though get ready to make up work and teach yourself. would totally take it again, very nice guy.
Dorman is the best college algebra teacher at TXST. He provides fill in the blank notes, youtube videos his lectures, drops the lowest exam grade, and all the online homework assignments (easy) will add up to 100 in the end for an exam grade. Let's you use a big paper 'cheat sheet' on all exams (20 questions). Be sure to attend class, it will help.
Okay well I SUCK at algebra so let me put that out there. I have tried 3 times and this is the only class I have passed (Barely. But I made it) so honestly Id take him if you struggle. He drops your lowest test score and your homework grade ends up counting for one. So keep your homework grade HIGH, and tests are multiple choice which helps a lot
he didn't require attendance since there is over 400 students but there was at least two HW assignments a week. he gave us unlimited chances so easy to get a 100 on HW grade. Drops lowest exam grade out of 3 and then you have your final.
Prof. Dorman's class was great and very straightforward. Attend lectures regularly and come prepared with your calculator & printed lecture outlines. Keep track of calculator functions how to access them and which ones to use. Extra points on tests awarded to students who attend, but videos of all lectures are posted if you can't make it. Easy A.
okay so i’m BAD at algebra and this professor was super hard to understand. he went at the pace of the students who are fast learners and gives no extra credit. if you take him make sure to go to class and be prepared with the notes printed out. he will not bump up your grade whatsoever under any circumstance so don’t bother asking. very hard.
Go to class!! Dorman provides pre-recorded lectures but he does not for exam reviews. He only has 4 grades: the first 3 exams (1st=20%, 2nd=25%, 3rd=30%) HW=25%. HW has unlimited attempts but exams are tough if you do not do the hw or review notes. Exams are very similar to the practice exams. His final was over the last chapters but be prepared!
This is one of the best math professors on campus. HIs lectures are extremely clear. He explains thoroughly as he is teaching and also answers any questions in class thoroughly. He is super down to earth. This class is easy to pass with i him as your professor.
Professor Dorman is great at helping students understand college algebra. The only work is 3 tests, a final exam, and homework. The homework is online and you get unlimited attempts. The tests can be difficult if you don't study, though. He drops the lowest test and homework grade, but use those wisely. Definitely take him if you can!
Really good professor, does his best to help students understand the material. A lot of homework but you get unlimited tries to get a 100. We have like overall 4 or 5 exams in the class throughout the semester and he lets us bring a note card filled with equations and examples that we can use on the test. As long as you study you should be fine.
Super straight forward math professor. Very simple class structure with unlimited tries on the online homework assignments. If you don't pass this class, you're just lazy. If you come to class, stay the whole time. He calls people out for leaving early. Overall, really funny guy!
Such a chiller. Cheat sheets were allowed on 2/3 of the tests and on the final. His lectures were very clear and to the point. You have two homework assignments per week, but they are fairly simple and have unlimited attempts.
Professor Dorman was an awesome professor. There are 2 homework a week, so not too bad. The homeworks were on Pearson so you get unlimited similar questions, so it is easy to get a 100% on your homework in this class. The professor taught lectures very well and clear and welcomed questions. We also got out of class early often
Entertaining lecutres and presents the topics in an interesting manner, clear with grades but also very fair. Boils the topic down into what you need to know and what is important. Also very accessible for questions or if help is needed.
I liked Mr. Dorman a lot and although you have to go to class because the filled in notes are not posted and he does not record lectures his lectures make the math much clearer. Mr. Dorman usually ended class early. There is 2 homework assignments a week.
He is a very good professor. He teaches very well and also drops your lowest test score. Attendance is not required. I recommend him.
His lectures are extremely clear, and I loved the fill-in notes that he completes with you. He gives two homework assignments a week that correspond with both lectures, and has practice tests for exams which are EXACTLY like the tests. He reviews before tests and gives extra credit just for attendance after each one. Take him you won't regret it!
Professor Dorman is amazing. His lectures are thorough and super helpful on homework. Most everything covered in MATH 1315 was covered in high school Algebra 2, so if you remember that you should be fine. Tests are simple and the practice tests are nearly identical. Homework may seem long, but you can re-attempt the questions to get a 100.
Take this man at all costs. I am terrible at algebra and had to retake this course but I was able to pass with him. As long as you do good on one out of 4 tests including the final you will pass. Hw grade replaces the lowest test so do them. I failed every test except one and still passed. Your final grade consists of your Hws, final exam, 2 tests.
This is coming from someone who scrapes by math. TAKE HIS CLASS. If you don't understand the subject he makes it stupidly easy to pass the class. he drops the lowest test score and homework score. He gives a lot of HW but you can redo it as much as you want for a 100, if you fail the tests the HW will soften the blow by a large amount.
AMAZING!!!! take his class!! Professor Dorman drops the lowest test score and homework score. He gives a steady amount of homework but you can redo it as much as you want for a 100! tests are straightforward and nothing is on the tests that we didn't learn in class.
Professor Dorman was overall a good teacher. The only thing is that if you don't do good on the exams, your grade is going to go down by a letter grade. There are only 3 tests in the semester, no final. Also, there are 2 homework assignments each week.
Man is God-sent, every math professor should take notes from him! The lectures are clear, he shows you calculator functions to make life easier, and he offers 5 extra credit points for each test by choosing a random day to sign in for attendance. Only grades are HW avg and 3 tests (25% each), drops 2 lowest HW grades. Go to class in order to pass!
Good professor! Unlimited tries on homework, so you can always get a 100. If you do bad on the tests, your grade will drop significantly, but he allows a notecard with formulas to use on the tests. Color coordinates his notes and makes jokes. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he expects everyone who shows up to stay the full length of the class.
Do the homework to help balance out test grades! He really is there to help, so go if you don't understand something, go to office hours, because he simplifies things well. Tests are multiple choice and there are two online homeworks a week (unlimited attempts). I'd recommend him for sure!
All bro's lectures are on YouTube, and I never have to attend except for exams.
The only thing that I believe is necessary for you to know about my experience with this professor is that the one time I asked a question this semester, about 3 classes into the course, his answer was "this is something you are expected to know as a prerequisite to this class." Was I really expected to be able to ask for help after that?
He is an amazing professor. You have 2 homework assignments on mymathlab each week with unlimited attempts. His exams are based on the practice exams he provides, if you study how to do the problems on the calculator you will be fine! I would recommend him 100%.
Attendance isn't taken but I'd recommend going, his class is really easy and he's really easy to understand and will help with anything you have problems with. Even if you don't fully get something in class you will understand by the homework. 10/10 probably one of the best math teachers I've had.
Has follow along notes. Extra credit for attendance. Practice tests that are exactly like the exam, and there are no surprises. Study the notes he takes with you and you will do great!
Mr. Dorman is a great professor! Lectures are very clear and concise. Class format is consistent every week: lecture every class, two homework assignments per week (which you can redo to get a 100), and three tests throughout the semester. Attendance is not mandatory, and he even has a YouTube channel with the lectures on it. Pretty hard to fail!
He gives follow-along notes that make lectures/note taking so easy. The class is clearly formatted with homework due at the same time every week. HW assignments can be redone over and over for the highest grade. Tests are closed note, except for an index card. The tests are easy if you go to class though. Attendance optional but recommended.
Prof Dorman is great. very kind and grading criteria is very clear from the beginning. his lectures are very in depth to ensure understanding for every student. there were homework assignments after every lecture but they wouldn't be due until exam day. it takes effort but if you put in fair effort, he is a great professor and you will pass
Although attendance isn't strongly enforced, it is the best way to learn the material. His lectures and homework prepare you well for each exam. He gives reviews for each exam. Easy A if you put in some effort.
Pretty straight forward class. Tests only 20 question Mcq and he drops the lowest. Only grades are 2x a week HW and the tests.
Class is so easy. Go to lectures and do your hw! He is honestly so cool and I enjoyed his class. He's also very lenient, sometimes I couldn't go to class and he would send me the notes. Easy A.
Attendance isn't mandatory and he has all of his lectures on youtube. Very good lectures! Gives extra points if you show up to the following class after an exam. No final, you can make up to one exam!
Attendance is optional and all the lectures are on Youtube. He gives extra credit for attendance after every exam. Class usually ends about 30 mins early.
Homework was difficult but only 25% of final grade. Exams were 75% but short and almost exactly like the review. Very straightforward and easy. Lectures are on Youtube and attendance is not mandatory. He gives extra credit for attendance after exams. Best stats class at Texas State.
The class has a clear format with manageable homework. Attendance is recommended but not strictly enforced. Using Unstuckstudy AI alongside the free textbook really helped with exam prep.
Good class. Few homework assignments. Lectures are pretty straightforward. I had his class at 8am which sucked. But I was still able to understand the material well. Gives extra 5 points afters if you show up the day after the test. SHOW UP FOR REVIEW days he basically gives you the answers for the test. Also everything is on canvas. Easy A.
PLEASE take Dorman, he has changed my view on math for the better. I previously took 1315 and failed miserably (33...), but retaking it with him was a completely different experience. As long as you put the minimal effort it will be easy. Gave test with 20 point curves and easy homework 2 times a week and gave great feedback to any confusion.
Dorman was a good professor, as his lectures were clear and taught everything needed for the homework and the tests. Sometimes, there were two topics covered in one class, but the classes almost always let out early. He responds quickly to emails and explains things well.
He assigns a lot homework but they are with unlimited attempts on each, so it is hard not to get a passing grade on them. There are 4 overall exams and he does give some extra credit on them after each. Overall, a good algebra teacher who you can tell doesn't want any of his students to fail.
Professor Dorman is GREAT! Lectures are not mandatory but the next class after test days he takes attendance and that is your extra credit for that test. Gives reviews that are the similar to the test if not the same. Let's you use a notecard on test. Does video lectures for class days that are cancelled. Does give homework but assignments are easy
Attendance was not mandetory, but you should probably go because he does a great job at explaining the material. Print out and do the reviews, he gives you a note card to use on the test. Every almost all of the questions on the reviews are on the test.
there's a lot of homework, but you can do it til you get 100. you can also use a formula card on the tests. the lowest test grade gets dropped, but if you take the spring semester just be wary he gives a test near halloween. like day of or day before.
Prof. Dorman is genuinely one of the best math teachers I have ever had. The homeworks are really easy and you have lots of time to do them. He allows notecards with formulas on all the tests and gets test grades back same day. While he does move fast, if you ask a question(s) he goes more in depth and takes the time to make sure you understand.
He's pretty generous with grades giving 5 points of extra credit for each test and dropping your lowest test grade. He will curve and give notecards if test grades are low. He gives out 2 to 4 homework assignments a week and it can be a lot at times but he's a good teacher and its a pretty easy class.
Homework is easy and test look exactly like the review. Very straight forward, he does not bump grades, but the class is very easy to pass with having assignments extensions for 2 weeks. Homework is online and test are in person. He does cancel class a lot. Easy to pass, I stopped going to lectures because all notes were posted online.
Professor Dorman will forever be my savior. He gives out bonus points for attending lectures after a test. He gives out practice test which are the same questions with different numbers on the actual test. There is so much time given to finish homework, which really helps with your grade. He also drops your lowest test grade. Also notecard on tests
if you are good at math, take this professor. he goes very fast so if you are bad at math do not take him. he has a pretty low voice so sit at the front of the class to be able to hear him. he will sometimes give extra credit for attendance so show up to class. exams are no notes, just bring calculator and pencil. online homework.
