I was nervous about taking ANY history class, but professor Fernandez was great. Don't miss a day though, because you will need the notes from his lectures in order to pass the tests. He is fun and makes history interesting. Good looking too. He does add lots of unimportant stuff for "flavor" though. sometimes that can be confusing and un-necessary

I absolutly love this professor. You will never find a better history instructor. He is very passionate about the material and makes it rather pleasant to be in class during a lecture. However, he grades in a thight scale. Do not fail any tests and try not to miss any of the lectures.

Really nice professor. It was fairly easy to get an A in his class as long as you studied a little out of the book and took notes. He gives you a study guide for the test and even does a short 10 minute review before the test for whoever didn't study. Recommended!!

Awesome. Out of my 4 history classes this semester he is my favorite. He has the energy and always stays on subject. I Should have an A in the class but I messed up on some of the q's in the 2nd exam. He is a great teacher. make sure you show to class his lectures are very important, and there is never a dull moment in class.

Make sure you attend his class everyday or else you'll miss a lecture that is not mentioned in the book. He gived you the reader's digest of what's in the book but make sure you read the text as background reading. Really hard tests and a long essay at the end. Other than that, he's a great professor.

Amazing professor and easy A. Just take notes in class and read 5th grade-like textbook and you should pass the class. Very passionate about his teachings and very intriguing. It is a transferable class so expect 4 exams for the whole semester and 1 essay for each, but very easy. Do not be intimidated, it should do you some good.

Took Mexican History during Covid and it was worth it. Lectures are pre-recorded, 4 tests & 4 papers. His lectures are very informative and engaging but you'll definitely want to study and read/skim the book. His lectures match the text book perfectly so it's easy to polish off notes taken during lecture. Honestly a great professor.

Took this class during the summer so everything was crammed but this class was so fun to take and the way he teaches it is pretty funny and interesting and despite everything being fast-paced I was able to remember a lot of stuff. We were not given homework except to study for his quizzes and do two essays. He is easy to talk to.

Loved this class. He just provides lecture vids with handouts that follow and hes not boring Id take his class again. Also he responds to emails very quickly! If you take this class dont procrastinate the only assignments are an essay and test From the info you get from his lecture videos.

I will admit it was a lot of work. His dedication to teaching History with a modern twist was phenomenal. He is a subject expert. Be ready to watch many videos, but they are full of information. You must take notes from the videos as the tests are designed around them. This class is not a class you can Quizlet yourself through it.

Took this class during the summer. His lectures were easy to understand but I would not recommend anyone who is just taking history for credit like me, because he wants you to really love the class and be serious about it. History is not for everyone, but Professor Fernandez does a heck of a good job keeping you engaged and has you on the edge of your seat when it comes to his lectures. He's amazing but you need to keep up with his lectures or you'll fall behind. I tend to procrastinate but I luckily made it to a C at the end of the semester thanks to the final essay. The study guides are helpful for the quizzes which are 50 questions long so make sure to set aside time and memorize everything, including the dates and events.

Professor Fernandez is great at what he does. He shows passion in his teaching and cares for all his students. He is very understanding and knows the material very well. This is not a class you can slack off on, but he does give you a reasonable amount of time to study for the quizzes and complete essays. The class had about 6 quizzes and 3 exams and 2 essays make sure to stay on top of your assignments and pay attention in class it can be very interesting if you pay attention!

I don't hate this class but it's definitely not my favorite. You have like 2 weeks to study for quizzes which is enough time but your performance/score will effect your grade heavily. I think that's the only thing that bothers me. You just take quizzes every two weeks, a midterm, and a final and that's your grade. I don't like this system but iiwii

Absolutely love the passion of this professor. He made US history very interesting, he focused on the things that weren't common knowledge. The class was only graded by 6 tests and 2 essays. As long as you watch the lectures and take notes, it's pretty easy. If you aren't typically interested in history, I would definitely recommend taking him.

This was my second course with Professor Hernandez. The two classes had the same format: four quizzes and four essays. They are spread out, so you can work at your own pace. The class was perfect for procrastinators because there were no weekly check-ins or discussions. The Professor is a nice guy, always every courdugal in emails.

I took his course in the fall of 2023. He is very clear when giving assignments. He did go overtime when he did lectures. His class could get boring at times but he does overall care for his students he also has his own grading system but overall if I could take another course with him I would. He did 2 big papers and a bunch of quizzes online.

Took his summer class along with two other classes and man if you know how summer classes are you know it is something to buckle up with but I am fortunate that this professor opened up his class to us something he did not need to do. He is for the students and he will work with you, he constantly communicates. Do your work and you are all good.

I took History 103 in the Spring and I enjoyed the class thoroughly. Professor Fernandez is passionate about teaching history and it comes through in his lectures. I learned an abundance of information about this country that I didn't know prior. There are 6 quizzes and 2 papers.

Professor is great, he is passionate about teaching and seems like he actually wants to be there. Pay attention during lectures and studying is seldom necessary. Goes very in debt and is clear about what to study, when to study, and how to study.

As a history major, I wish he offered in-person classes! Lectures 2-4hrs, but he explains well and it improves your note-taking skills. No homework, just monthly essays & exams. Procrastination is not possible with the lectures. He's understanding if you communicate. Uses Turnitin. If you can handle the class, you'll walk away smarter.

Profe made class so enjoyable and made me love learning about history. He's so knowledgeable on all his subjects shares a lot of good flavor in lectures that made me even more interested. Also everything open note open book easiest class I've ever taken. Def would recommend.

He was very funny and clearly cares about his students. No homework but 6 exams that are open notes and 2 blue book essays. He's very excited about teaching history which makes his class a comfortable place to learn. He lets you use all resources given, just remember to review everything before exams because everything is useful! Highly recommend!
