only take if you understand math easily. does not explain-he does the work in his head and says you should be able to also.
He does no review at all as should be done in 120.He is not helpful, and does not care if you don't understand him(he doesn't do all the steps on the board)
He is not a bad teacher. The only things he simplifies on the board are simple addition etc. He is definitely a more technical teacher (not recommended for most of you idiots), but he is willing to help if you have questions.
This guy sucks. He's always late, does the work in his head, and doesnt help students learn. When you ask him a question his common answer is: "Well, think about it." He is there to talk to himself and to earn an easy paycheck. DO NOT take him in the summer. The take home tests are horrible.
Difficult teacher. Good for the mathematics major. In order to pass, you must show humility in the classroom and "INSIST" on his answering your questions. He will not answer questions without much student persistence, but afterward, you will learn much from the class.
horable teacher
This guy sucks. He is **** and is totally not interested in helping students learn. He expects you to know everything he is doing. I wouldn't recommend him.
Even tough Walter is probably the hardest teachers in the GCC mathematics department, i learned more in taking this one class of his then i have learned in my whole life. But be prepared to work by yourself!
He is a very tough teacher. He pretty much expects the students to already know what he is teaching. He does not explain the steps and process of math equations and problems. Unless you are a total math genious and can get stuff, don't take him. He isn't very helpful and makes you feel dumb if you don't understand what he is teaching.
I don't ant to be too harsh! Mr. Kehowski is not a good teacher at all. I just recently took him and he can't explain concepts at all, he dosen;t relate to stdents, except when he's wondering off into is own little world where h e starts talking about dumb things, that students can;t help but laugh at. I think he's very smart and understands math,
Kehowski is the best professor ever. His worksheets are easy and helpful. He is always willing to help outside of class. Answers e-mails.
Wow, this guy is confusing and seems totally not into teaching this class. He made me more confused. I found another section with a better teacher!!! Good Luck everybody else!!!!
Runnn!!!!! lol, really I'm not kidding! He never comes prepared for class, his teaching style is very scattered and disorganized.
Kehowski is not a teacher, he's a doer. He assumes you already know what he's supposed to teach you, and as such his lectures are over your head from the get-go. He doesn't explain the content, and his quizzes are so famously difficult that the advisors do everything in their power to keep their honors students away from him. Absolutely do use him.
Good teacher. Recommended.
Good teacher. Before this class I hated math. Now it's my favorite subject.
very educated in math indeed, but rather difficult to understand his teachings. very technical and very user unfriendly. and yes, his famous quizzes, rather difficult even for other math instructors.
DROP AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK
He knows his stuff, but he cannot reciprocate it well. There is no way I would have understood this Pre-Calc class if I had not taken Calc before in high school. I recommend getting another teacher if you can.
Kehowski is an excellent teacher. He is a little scatter-brained, but he's thorough and will help if you ask for it. Extremely nice. I had misjudged him at first, but I quickly corrected my judgements after staying in his class and seeing how helpful he can be. Extremely knowledgeable.
A very regrettable class. If you can still get a refund, then drop now. You're better off one semester with no math than one week with this guy. You'll probably learn more too. Don't stay out of pity either just drop the class.
Great professor. His problems are really well thought out. I like the extra credit! I feel like I will be able to do this math in my next classes.
He is a jerk, he teaches facing the board not the class, very hard to understand half of what he says even when you already know the matericals from taking pre calc in high school! Try to avoid him for ANY math class!!!
This guy is a genius, but he's not great at relating information. If you know how to ask questions he can be very helpful because he knows A TON about math(and computer programming). He stands in the way of what he's writing sometimes, which gets annoying, and he sometimes skips steps. If you're serious about learning, he can teach you a lot.
Kehowski is a big brain! I like his teaching style.
Professor K is a good math teacher. Most everyone complains about him, but they don't ever bother to ask for help from him. He's lenient if you need more time on take home quizzes or homework and he will work out any problems you ask him to until you understand. The problem with most students is that no one bothers to ask for help when they need it. I've had him for 2 classes. I got Bs in both, and I'm not a math whiz at all.
Prof.Kehowski is a fabulous teacher. I have read the reviews, and I'm sure that many of the negative reviews were true at one time -- but he has improved. The class content is BRILLIANT, though not showy. A flat personal style, but the thinking is genius. I hope to take Calc from him.
Took him for calculus, and found him to be an OK teacher. Sure he does know his stuff, but for those who rely on visuals to learn will be disappointed. Moves very fast, and makes some concepts harder than they are. Tests can be challenging, but if you are strong with math, should be ok. I took it with another inst. and found it to be alot easier.
Mr. Kehowski is an awesome teacher. I'm presently enrolled in Mat 220 with him and took Mat 187 with him. He has high expectations for his students, and Mr. Kehowski is highly intellectual. Excellent teacher if you're looking to learn Math.
This professors is very confusing! He teaches you things beyond what you need to know that will only confuse you in the end. He moves very fast.
Read the sections before coming to class then do the homework after class and you will do great! Attendance is mandatory. I liked his class!
AVOID! The worst teacher i have ever had. He teaches like you already know it. He skips over sections in the book. He will sometimes skip steps in his explanations. He will NOT help you with problems during office hours. He chooses the hardest possible problems for tests. If you take him expect to teach yourself.
Kehowski will ~make you better at math ~challenge you daily ~require your time and energy ~deliver a hefty dose of calculus! If you know why you are in calculus you should respect this man's style. Kehowski is a math whiz and an excellent professor. If you make it to the end you will feel accomplished. Discipline and theory delivered to you via DrK
He's a Horrible teacher. He does problems on the board with no explanation of what is going on. He expects you to know what he is doing. He won't help you. If you ask questions he will get mad at you, laugh at you, talk to you like you are stupid, or not answer your question at all. He is a a complete jerk and completely useless. Stay away from Him
He is a very difficult teacher for some students. I did get an A in class during summer. It is a hard class, but i like that he gives out worksheets to solve as a class step by step then worksheets to do on your own. Although, if you do not comprehend math at all, maybe you should take another professor. He is a wiz but might be difficult for some.
He is a very interesting professor his style of teaching is different, but you will enjoy his class. Lets say he is difficult to understand, but you will def pass his class :)
Kehowski has previously worked for Nasa. This guy is a genius. Yes he is very difficult but will prepare you for whatever is ahead. His quiz's are hard. If you dont want to be challenged dont take him. Every one who complains is usually not good in math. Had him for 187-220-230.
Kehowski is a hard to understand guy. I have a love hate relationship for math and he definitely makes me hate it.When you absolutely can't figure out a problem he wont help you figure it out"Read the prolem".If your not good at math don't take his class. He givs lots work sheets that are VERY helpful. Thats as helpful as he get's in his teaching.
Dr. K is an extremely hard teacher. I am in his class now and he makes things harder than it has to be. I consider myself a math whiz as I have recieved all A's before and LOVE math. He answers questions with "look a little closer and do a little math" inteead of really helping. I would take a different teacher any day.
He's tough although a good instructor. If you can handle a good challenge this is the guy. I had him for Calc III over summer and it was the toughest math class! There were 3 As for the class and I was one of them. He likes to refer to older edition text books for take home tests.
He set a foundation for linear algebra by making us learn what we needed to solve DEs. I have been breezing through linear algebra thanks to him. He used a notation that I now see it in applied computational methods. He makes you discover math rather amazingly. Hail to Dr. K!!
Professor Kehowski is extremely smart. As long as you do all of your assignments(including take home quizzes) and attend class, you'll do fine!! He can be a little hard to understand SOMETIMES, but I got an 'A' in his class. Overall, he's a good professor and little misunderstood :)
As long as you do your work and stay on task during class you should do fine. I recommend using the Math Solution religiously and ask questions when you don't now the answer.
Dr. K is really smart in math and sometimes be talks over your head. Some of the freshmen in the class had trouble understanding where he was going with things, but it was obvious to me that they just didn't know what was going on in general. Good professor and really helps you out with practice tests that are almost exact copies of the real thing
Sometimes it just seemed to me that he was TOO good at math to teach the intermediate algebra class! However, he did his best and did a decent job. However, I actually wish we had gotten homework so we could have had outside-class practice.
Kehowski knows his stuff, but doesn't teach. If you don't understand something, he ridicules you and tells you to look at the problem until you figure it out yourself. He didn't care if you came to class, and he accepted assignments weeks after they were due for full credit. At the end of the semester, though, I kind of enjoyed the class.
Greatest professor ever! Kehowski takes the student into account! Very clear and no nonsense teacher. Take him and study like there's no tomorrow and you might make it.
Great teacher! Liked his methodical coverage in lower level class that I signed up again for this class. I would take him again! Very thorough! Gives lots of tough quizzes but that helped.
Walter K. is one of the coolest guys I've ever met, but not the greatest teacher. He is TOO smart and expects way too much from the students; however, the way his classes work is fairly easy. He only gives out take home quizzes, only about two of his quizzes are in class besides the mid-term and final. I genuinely enjoyed his class. BASE 12!
Dr K is cool. He could teach a duck to swim. I hated calculus last year but did fine with Dr K's help.
This class is quite a challenge, especially towards the end, meaning you will have to put in work to earn your grade. The good thing is that Dr. Kehowski gives lots of take home quizzes to boost your grade and does occasionally give reviews to in-class tests. Expect to teach yourself most of the semester though because some of his concepts aren't all that easy to grasp.
He's definitely not the most helpful teacher and he doesn't know how to explain concepts to the class. If you take his class, you'll definitely be teaching yourself the concepts he presents in class... BUT he gives you reviews which has the exact type of problems that will be on the test which is a life saver. Plus, he gives you take home tests.
Dr.K is awesome! Exams can be rough but if you can handle the exams reviews you're set for the exam. I think he just gets a bad wrap because he'll through some hard math stuff at you and wont succumb to winy poor me crap that I keep people throughout the semester do. I think he's actually a good communicator with a nice sense of humor.
Dr Kay he is great teacher, I really enjoyed his class. His class example could be hard sometimes, but his test are easy. I wish if he was teach DFQ this semester.
I learned so much from Dr. Kehowski. This man is brilliant. Sometimes he may have trouble explaining something to the class because it is very elementary for him, but he appreciates people questioning why he did something a certain way and reinforces it in notes. I am in Calculus now, but I definitely plan to take Calculus 2 with him next semester.
Dr K is by far the WORST math teacher Ive ever had. You ask a question in class because youre confused on how he went from one step to the next & all youll get in return is him telling you to "WORK IT OUT". Well, isnt that why Im asking, because I dont know how?!? He's a total jerk. Google his name & you'll find a pretty horrible article about him
Dr. Kehowski is an excellent Calc II teacher. He knows his studies, though sometimes over-thinks the problem and has a few mistakes. He is VERY lenient on his quizzes. As long as you do book work and final exam review, you'll do well! He grows on you with his special sound effects and "geeky" humor. "Google Party" -Dr. K
Instructor Walter Kehowski is by far the most useless professor at Maricopa community district. He just sits on his chair and pretend we know all the materials. I had no choice besides taking him for summer him, if you do, please reconsider your decision. You'll regret if you don't
HORRIBLE TEACHER. SO USELESS!!! DONT TAKE HIM
Hardest professor I've ever had. Extremely monotone and expects you to know everything. Amazingly smart but is absolutely useless when it comes to helping or clarity.
you'll have to go to math solutions and ask about everyone for help, get your friends to study with you and you'll pass. He's a very nice person but he dosen't teach very clear, he will give you extend time to turn in papers but you'll have to ask for it. some quizzes are take home and some in class. outside work MUST be put in, in order to pass.
If your Not a math wiz DO NOT take this class! He expects more from his students than he gives. I went to him after class for additional help and he told me "Come on you know this", if I knew 1) I wouldn't have had to take the class and 2) I wouldn't have sought the additional help! I strongly suggest taking Andrew McKintosh at GCC N. if you can!
Do not take this teacher. You have been warned!
Tries to be cool but does not explain the concepts well. Seems like he would do better as a researcher and not teaching. Most quizzes are take home but not alwase clear on what he wants.
There is no excuse not to pass his class, unless you go in expecting to learn the material DURING his lectures! Hard to keep up since he writes on a notebook which echos onto a projector, and speaks very softly during his "explanations". But on the plus, the test questions are exactly like the study guides. Take if you need an easy A, not to learn
He is unfortunately not a good professor. I have never felt the need to warn other potential students about a professor, especially at GCC but he is the worst I have ever had. I will not leave out the fact that this teacher is brilliant, I will just say he picked the wrong profession in life because he literally cannot teach to save his life.
Worst teacher ever. No respect for you as a student or human. Late to class every day. Should not be teaching AT ALL. If you have to take him, beware. If you do r have to, DON'T do it. Not worth a single cent. Not worth it even if you have a scholarship paying for your class.
Doesn't like questions, doesn't seem like he enjoys teaching, and basically does it so he can feel superior to you. Horrible. Unprepared. Late every single day. Save yourself the trouble folks.
Awful teacher. Should not be in the profession that he is. Very unclear and often goes on philosophical rants about math subjects for no reason. If you take him, you will be teaching yourself. You should go into the class knowing calculus to be able to comprehend this teachers instructional habits. Terrible terrible terrible. Don't take him.
Took Calc III over the summer. Don't fall behind on the homework because it was much more helpful than lecture. Lectures were just a primer for the homework, which is what helped the most. We did get study guides that looked like the test and we were allowed to use a notecard during most tests.
I took his class in summer 1 and got c in it. My grade was 78. Anyway he got mixed between my name with another student for the attendance. I spoke with him more than seven times but he didn't fix it. His exact world was ( I know you are in class everyday but I can not fix it). The other student came to class no more than 10 times. Try him and see
my god his teaching style is filled with an awkward sense of humour. He teachs like wr already know the material. He knows what hes talking abouy but we dontawesome teacher if you want to be challenged
Monotone voice barely works out problems on the board. He expects us to know the material taht he is teaching on the board. if you take his class make sure it is the only class cause you will struggle if you have him and a science.
His teaching style is not great. Please reconside if you are going to take this professor. He is really hard to hear and class and 90% even at his office hours he expects you find the answers to your problems through a 1400 page book. Please walter i didnt take calc 2 to learn on my own i took calc2 to learn from you!
Prepares you very well for tests and is a fair grader.
I like Dr. K's teaching style. His take home tests are definitely designed to make you think. He grades very fairly and gives partial credits for your attempt in solving a problem provided you're doing the steps right, of course. He definitely knows and loves math. I would take a class from him again, if I had the chance.
Lecture is not really helpful but homework prepares for test. He gives partial credits if you show your work even your answer is wrong. Take him if you want easy A.
Dr K's teaching style may not be for everyone, but he is very knowledgeable about the subject. His exams, especially the take home ones are definitely designed to make you think. Do not take him if you're lazy about learning some of the material on your own. He does expect you to know certain things at this level of math. I enjoyed my class.
The grade is made up of three parts: attendance, homework, and exams. Exams are very similar to the study guide You don't really need to do the homework if you're attendance and test grades are great. I really shouldn't have really done the hw, I would've lived. You can squad up for take home tests. His lectures are conceptual
His lectures were not for me, he'd put what he was teaching on the board but didn't explain it well and kind of left you hanging. It's mostly the way he teaches that puts his rating down. Also if you're wondering where to get the "my math lab " my advice is to buy it online just so you have the right one.
His classes were long and boring your better teaching yourself
He teaches standing in front of the board so you can't follow what he's doing. He has also messed up a lot as if he doesn't know what he's doing. Asks the class questions because he's not sure. He even had to move a test a week back because he messed up so bad on a lecture, I know mistakes are made by everyone but it shouldn't be that many.
I've dropped calc 2 twice at UofA before taking this class because I was going to fail. His lectures are very easy to follow and his lessons line up with Professor Leonard on YouTube if anything wasn't very clear. He gives study guides that are almost exactly like the test, and some are even takehome. Easy A.
he's not good at teaching he doesn't go step by step when explaining a problem and he makes a lot of mistakes it's like a student teaching a class would not recommend and he doesn't speak loud people can barely hear him when instructions are given.
He is all monotone, doesn't clarify or explain and stands in front of the board. His steps aren't clear, tests are hard. If you have a question he doesn't answer it or replies with "google it". Don't take him unless you're going to be teaching yourself 99.9% of the course material.
Dont take this professor endless you already know what youre doing. The only reason why I passed this class is because most quizzes were take home. Youll probably end up looking up how to videos on YouTube. He is fair at grading and partial credit. Good luck.
His greasy professor, not everyone likes the way he teaches, but surely he helped me a lot.
Mr. K. Is great professor, if you take his class, you need to know the basics, but overall his great, glad I took his class.
He truly is a sour patch kid. The only hw is quizzes and they are take home but they are extremely hard. He is somewhat clear with explanation. You have to be good at math and also be able to learn on your own. He teaches u basics but his quizzes are super hard(take-home). Exam are ok but studying is a must.
He teaches a lot of classes and knows a great deal about math. You get take home quizzes and he gives exam reviews before the actual exams. No surprises. You can definitely pass this class a good teach he is very approachable and has many office hours. Great guy I learned a lot from him
Kehowski is very straight forward and approachable. He wont give you grief over silly things which makes the class more comfortable. 50% of the grade is quizzes(mostly take home) 25% each for midterm and final. Calc 3 is Calc 3 so you must put in the time and show up, even if attendance isnt graded.
Hes a great teacher I walked in his class thinking Ill get a C but no he cares about his student giving an extension for Take home quizzes and also theres no mandatory homework only his quizzes where you can take home and once in a while theyll be in class.
Personally, I had no problems with Mr. Kehowski, but one thing you must know is that he teaches fairly quickly, and you will have to take a lot of notes. He may seem strict at first, but he has some leeway with the take home quizzes. All in all, he doesn't play around, and if you want a challenge, this is the professor for you.
Dr. K is the worst professor I ever had. He doesnt know how to explain concepts, he computes problems without explaining where his numbers are coming from, he uses dated methods for solving problems and wants you to do the same, but when asking for help he says look at your notes. Easy A, bc Exams are just like his outlines, but I didnt learn.
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR. He seems like a nice guy but some people really shouldn't teach. He didn't really explain his work so I had no idea what was going on and he made CONSTANT mistakes when showing problems. I left class so frustrated everyday. Would NOT recommend as a teacher.
Took his summer calculus 2 course, signed up for in-person but COVID moved it online. He was polite. If you pay attention to the examples he does during lecture you'll do fine. A lot of homework but every calc class I've ever taken has had the same load.
I had to drop out of the class because he does not explain his work. He does not say how he got his answer and just does the work without saying what he is doing. You definitely have to know basic college algebra before taking his MAT150 class. Definitely would not recommend unless you like a fast paced environment.
I'm going to be completely honest, he's not it. you're better off finding a different prof or if you have to take his class, look up Professor Leonard on Youtube, this man does wonders.
Currently taking this math class. He will jump steps sometimes during problems, however, the steps jumped are usually basic algebra. You have to know your foundation math to do well. I used to not understand math before but he forces you to think faster and understand what goes on. Easy A, low homework, you have to put in effort to see results.
Nice guy but his class is difficult to be active in. He is quiet and does everything himself, really tough for you to learn whats going on if you have no pre knowledge of the class. Every day there is a new worksheet to go thru and sometimes the class is too fast paced. easy to cheat on the quizzes though but the final exam you cannot.
Went off some of the chapters given in the textbook as he seemed unprepared. Took over a week to solve a problem that he seemed unwary of. Had to get tutoring online to solve these problems.
To start, I really enjoy calculus and its concepts but please beware when choosing professor Kehowski. His methods for solving integrals are completely outdated. To top it off, he will mark off points on quizzes for not using his methods. He is very unclear in his explanation and I would be totally screwed if I wasn't somewhat decent at math.
The main issue with Dr. Kehowski is his lectures are awful. He flies through the problems, skips steps, and then expects you to have understood the problem. There's almost no class participation because almost no one understands his lectures (A total of 2 questions were asked by students the whole semester). To pass this class, you need a tutor.
Overall he was not a terrible teacher although his lectures went by too fast and could barely understand the steps for the solution. He talk very quietly so make sure to sit close to the front and away from the back. He allowed test to be taken home and does not give out homework but the class isn't difficult.
if you need a foundation in mathematics he is the one of the worst instructors you could take. he skips steps, doesnt explain his problems thoroughly, and doesnt have the problems done in class match up with his quizzes and exams. i am caught guessing
I rate 1/5 not because he teaches poorly, but because he doesn't teach. Every class, you silently follow along as he does that night's HW. He does not explain the principles on how to actually do the work unless specifically asked to do so. Little to no HW out of class. If you know the material already and just need the credit this is your teacher.
No explanation, doesn't help, just gives you papers and its on you to teach yourself. Classes were one of the most boring ever
Professor Kehowski is one of the worst professors I have ever had to take a course with. There was material on final that was never learned, the whole class felt as if they were failing and not learning, he does not care at all to teach, races through worksheets, won't answer questions, is rude, and does not care for his students success. 0/10.
For people how are trying to understand math and need any sort of assistance or stimulation to remain attentive this is the worst class for you. He responds to questions in a disrespectful manner, sleeps through class, no energy, well not elaborate when asked, and does not cover what's actually on the final exams.Take anyone else, please.
Professor Kehowski has a structured approach, but can move quickly through material. Engage with the free course resources and use tools like unstuck AI to supplement your learning. Overall, a manageable class if you put in the effort.
He does not teach.
This professor simply doesn't teach like you would expect from a teacher. His "style" of teaching is just sitting down and completing problems on dozens of papers while you are just expected to follow. He never explains why he is doing something and just completes the questions. He is snappy and rude when you ask a question or do not understand.
Class is easy with a tutor. Lectures aren't helpful just watch YouTube. Cool prof, but his teaching style is unclear. Tests are easy, and sample exams are almost identical (except the final). DO NOT ask questions in class ask a tutor instead. Grading isn't harsh. would recommend this class if you like to self-learn should be easy A for you.
I had him for MAT150, but sropped after 2 exams. He gets mad if you ask him to explain, claiming he just did, even though he has no way of doing so. Stares you down in class if every time he has us do something on our own, but won't teach you how to do it. You fill out the papers with him, which means you aren't learning the material at all.
Stay away he blows big wang
