i think he is very kind and helpful teacher. whenever students ask questions, he explans very well and he gives many extra credits. and his class is never difficult if you study a little bit in the class.

O'Brien is a good teacher, but chemistry is difficult and very dull at times. He tries his best to help us understand the material and the tests are straight forward. He gives plenty of extra credit too. I like how organized he is. Let's face it...he is better than most of the science faculty at Nova.

he is very helpful and kind professor. he gives a lot of extra credits. but it is just like a pop quiz.also, his exams are same as the pratice exam. if you study a little bit hard, you can get A from this class. he is a very good professor.

Repeats material a lot. Doesn't seem to have a passion for the subject anymore. Pay attention and you'll do ok.

I don't know where these people are getting the idea that he is difficult, if you go to class and listen just a little bit, you will pass.

He is very helpful and good teacher. I was VERY bad in CHM when I was in highschool. BUT I still got A. All you need to do is listen what he says and go over the study guide. You should be able to do well.

I liked this professor. He is the type of professor who really knows his stuff and he's willing to teach you as long as you show your interest and give him your time. He's not mean at all, but he's also not going to hold your hand and walk you through everything. He's clear repeats the necessary stuff so that you don't feel lost.I highly recommend!

He is not only a great Chemistry teacher, but probably the best professor I've have had up to date. He is clear, straight forward, grades fairly, and just expects you to do the work plain and simply. He is nice and has a sense of humor, and he makes the subject easy to learn.

He's a great teacher and is very funny. Most of the students love him. Tests aren't that hard, but if you are not good at calculation you may find it quite difficult. I would recommend you to study the study guild on the book and you'll do well. I received 90% average on all of my tests.

An excellent Professor!! I took him for Chem. 101 and 102. Teaches both classes similar. Gives out "pop" quizzes(but tells you when they are) and they only help you. it's extra credit on tests. The tests well like any other you need study!Chem is not an easy subject but he truly makes it understandable. labs help grade (no quizzes or tests on labs)

Professor O'brien, to put it crudely, is the shiz. His class was awesome and he made chemistry awesome. I took chem 111 and 112 with him and it made me completely interested in chemistry. I'm taking organic now, and I credit my grades to him. Grades fairly, answers questions, has a sense of humor, and makes the class interesting. :)

Prof. OBrien is the best.He's not as easy to get an A grade as my CHM 101 teacher, but I learned so much more from him.He's funny,interesting, and very fair.

He is very helpful and knowledgeable. He relates the CHM concept to our life, so I have learned a lot from him. His lab class is so easy and no stress at all! So many extra points from easy quiz question every 2 weeks. He's very warm and sweet. If you read through textbook, Easy A! I highly recommend him.

If you loathe the thought of taking Chemistry but must do so for a pre-requisite, take Professor Obrien. Professor Obrien provides you with a system and spoon-feeds you anything that is even remotely challenging. Literally, this guy will do everything but hold your hand to make sure you understand the material.

Very good teacher. Patient, understanding and works well. Gave extra credit often and explained the material if you didn't understand. made material practical and relevant to everyday life. Would definately recommend taking this professor

Very easy class. Professor gives a very clear explanation of all the stuff that will be on the exam. Labs are very easy and much extra credit for the class. The class is very easy and he is very lenient. Will accept work very late without taking off points. Very easy class

I tok Mr. OBrien for chm 101 and 102 and got an A and a B.He did a good job. If you go to class and study a little it's and easy class.

OBrien is a good teacher, much better than others...less strict. Easy class. No attendance necessary, but you could miss bonus quizzes/extra credits towards exams. 5 exams, fairly easy if you study. Recommended.

I failed chem in high school so so I SUCK at it. This class is hard, the material can be tricky. BUT Obrien is cool, despite all the horrible comments. five tests and drops 1, 75% of your grade. 25% is labs which are easy TRUST ME. there're extra credit quizzes. Overall, reasonable class with no final. Its hard, but manageable with studying.

Prof. obrien did a great job of teaching a bunch of characters in our class. He was fair and funny and we learned some chem.

I'm not really a chem fan, but it was fun learning it. labs were fun and educational. Prof. OBrien was very flexible and responsive to the student.

He is very nice gentleman who wants you to understand chemistry and get a good grade. Gives a lot of quiz to improve your grade. He goes over the material fast but always tell you what will be on test. Highly recommended!

The Prof was wonderful and extremely animated in class. He knew the subject matter well and was a very effective teacher.

One of the best classes I've had at NVCC

By far one of the most helpful professors I have ever had. He explained the material extremely well and all of his quizzes are immediately after he lectures on that exact material and they were extra credit points that are added to test grades, not a separate quiz grade. I honestly have so many good things to say, I would recommend him to anyone.

One of the BEST professors I've ever had! Laid back, really nice guy, loves to tell funny little stories. If you don't understand something, ASK HIM! He will explain it to you until you get it. Most of the test questions are the same questions from the end of the chapters, so do those for practice! GREAT GUY!! Highly recommend!

He is a good teacher. If you are good in Chemistry he is definitely the one to take. He is a little confusing in his lectures because he does like a little mumbling thing and his handwriting is horrific but I personally liked him. He made the subject easy for me and if I hadn't missed a month of class I probably would have gotten an A instead of B

I would recommend Prof Obrien for chem. He keeps you engaged and the subject fun throughout his lectures. There is no one that can teach chem as well and be so flexible as prof Obrien. And chm 102 is an easy A.

I would take Professor Obrien again in a heartbeat. He covers everything in his lectures, but you definitely need to read the book (easy read) and do the practice problems /practice exams. Do your part, because he always does his part. The textbook helped A LOT so make sure to get it. Loved his class b/c you can tell he wanted us to do well.

Very easy going guy, always ends up telling some funny story without even realizing it, it was pretty funny. Exam questions come from the book so if you read and do the questions to practice ahead of time then you'll get an A for sure. He can be a bit confusing but it's only because he explains quick. Answers questions, so ask. gives bonus pts.

Best Prof at NVCC. Funny, easy going, and flexible, but makes you learn the chem if you want a good grade. Makes class and lab fun. Gives everyone a chance, but will give a bad grade if you don't study. Go to class because he explains everything well. Ask questions.

I just finished a class with Prof. OBrien and he was great. I have no idea what the previous person is talking about ( obviously the same clown wrote the 3 last reviews). Class was fun and we learned a lot of interesting stuff. Prof. OBrien's tests are fair and right from the book, and he does give "pop" quizzes that add points to your test score

He is super considerate and thought. He will reinforce the need to study, or practice. When class ends early he gives us the option to stay back and have group study or get his help. If you attend class and practice with the homework you should get an A. It not super easy but we should all do our part. He certainly do. Took class January/18

Great professor with a good sense of humor. Assigns homework for your benefit but doesn't collect it. Exams are fair, labs are fun. Gives "surprise pop quizzes" for extra credit often. Not too heavy on power point, uses it when needed. Read your textbook, do the practice questions, and you'll do fine. Would take him for any chemistry course.

Nice guy. Lectures can be monotonous but if you pay attention, he really is explaining well. Tests are harder than the practice tests, so beware. Study, do the practice problems in the book and youll do well. Labs are fun, tests are hard. Im an A student & got a B in, but Chem isnt my thing. No complaints. He does his part. Do yours.
