- Good teacher, she know how to explain math - Attendance is mandatory, if you are absent for more than 4 days you are in trouble - She give 4 tests through the semester and a practice tests before each test. * I would say : easy A
Calculus seems like basic algebra with her. Her notes are so good that you don't need a book plus she posts them on Moodle. Don't miss more than four days or you fail. She is reasonable with extending Webwork due dates, and she does problems in class. Practice tests are the same as tests. Very clear in explaining concepts. Definitely recommend her!
She's a nice lady, but I really did not enjoy her class. She basically just regurgitated the book for about 3 hours straight with absolutely no sympathy whatsoever. Going to class was pointless. However, if you miss even ONE day it will effect your grade.
I failed calc in high school and made an A in her class... definitely a good teacher and nice outside of class!
She is good overall if you pay attention and keep up with your work. She posts all her notes online which makes it easy to study for tests
She explains the material very well. I learned a lot in this class. She also posted lecture notes online, which has really helped a lot to study and do my homework assignments. It's not an easy A. You definitely have to do the homework and study for the tests in order to succeed. Overall, she is a great teacher and I highly recommend her.
She explains everything thoroughly and you actually learn a lot. Tests look exactly the same as in the practice test except the numbers are changed. She is very helpful with the homework if you ask for help. If you pay attention and study, you will get an A.
She explains everything thoroughly and tests are easy. They look exactly as in the review sheet, except the numbers are changed. If you study and pay attention, you can do very well in her class.
Attendance is mandatory and her accent is sort of thick but other then that her class was pretty easy. You don't need the book. Just go to class and pay attention. She uploads all notes online.
This is the first math class I've felt the teacher taught well. Her lectures are solid but a but boring. She's foreign but her English is excellent except for butchering names and the word Matrix and Matrices, some what important for a linear algebra class. She's fair and listens to the class, offering help outside if you need it.
Ms. Wan (as she asks her students to call her) is one of the best professors I have had! She is sweet and helpful. I was hesitant to take her because of her long name--I thought I wouldn't be able to understand her accent. However, she has no accent! I highly recommend her.
Amazing teacher. She explains things very thoroughly. Didn't use the book at all, just went off in class notes. She puts all notes online and doesn't take attendance so you're fine if you miss a couple of classes. Very nice lady, she extended the homeworks all the time if you needed an extra couple of days.
She is a very good teacher. In class notes were easy to follow with lots of practice problems. Gives a lot of homework but that's the best way to learn math. Would definitely take her again.
She is a good professor. The material is tedious, but not hard to understand. The lectures can be boring and time feels like it goes by reeeaaaalllly slow. There's a lot of homework and it usually takes a few hours to complete. Tests are not too bad.
She is so sweet and truly a great professor! The notes are online and you print them before class, she explains things with good detail and loves answering questions! Her tests are just like her study guides so if you make sure you know how to do those then you'll be in the clear! I am usually not the best at math but have managed to do very well.
I learned more from Hawkes than actually being in class. I just used that time to do my massive amounts of online homework for the class. She's very smart and nice and the grading is easy to pass if you do all the minor assignments to get the best grades. The tests won't bring you down too hard if you just do that
Professor Wan was a sweet woman but her tests were extremely difficult and she takes attendance and will lower your final grade if you miss more than 3 classes even though your attendance grade doesn't count towards your final grade. Homework is on paper and not online and she grades it very strict.
She is an amazing professor! Willing to work with students and help them in the way they need. She's very understanding and caring, her lectures are easy to follow you can print out notes and even makes an in class note set and puts it online! Quizzes and tests are straightforward and she is very easy to understand! Wish I could take her again!
Good teacher
Talks a lot, I felt as though she was learning with me. I thought she over explained things.
I have had a good experience with her in my calculus class. She is very nice, caring, and wants to make sure you understand the material. She will say "does that make sense" a lot but she just wants to make sure she moves on with people understanding. She has a very small language barrier that isn't very noticeable. She can still be understood :)
There is a lot of homework and quizzes in the class but for the most part, they are pretty easy and based on the lectures. Very nice person if you ever have any questions. My only complaint is that she is a fast-paced teacher so sometimes I fell behind in lecture.
Very nice person, but sometimes lacks in truly teaching. Goes too fast in lecture to keep up. Tests are very frequent and they are not 100% based off what you learn. In the test reviews, there will be things she hasn't taught you which can make it difficult. Not the worst option for calc but there are far more better teachers.
She will assign lots of hw during breaks so take this teacher at your own risk.
She is a REALLY nice and caring teacher. Her test reviews are almost EXACTLY like her exams. The trick is to make sure you are able to do the test reviews without any notes. If you feel that she is too fast paced, just watch the pre section videos that she posts. She gives you all the materials to do well, the rest of the work should be on you.
Very sweet lady. Awesome teacher. Breaks down concepts so they're easy to understand. She does go thru lectures fast, but posts all notes online. She shows you exactly what will be on tests, which are fairly easy. She is generous with opportunities to bring up your grade. Honestly, if you fail, it's on you. Great prof. Wish she taught Calc 2.
thought i had no chance in hell to get an A in calc one. she proved me wrong big time
Mrs. Wan is a very good teacher, and will help you out SO MUCH. She really cares about all her students, and is very nice. She can be a bit boring at times in class, but if you pay attention and study, you will get an A. She drops the lowest test grade, lowest webwork, and replaced our final grade with our overall grade!
Mrs. Wan was a really good teacher for me. Sometimes the concepts are a little rushed, but she videos her talking and taking notes during the lecture. She gives out a study guide before every test. She does tend to take attendance, but it is just signing your name on a paper so make a friend so they'll sign it for you! Just have to study for tests.
Amazing and understanding teacher. Gives many opportunities for extra credit in her Calc 1 class. She will add 2% to total grade if you miss less than 3 classes, replace lowest test grade with final, and to top it all of the last day of class she announced that she would disregard your current grade and whatever you got on final is your final grade.
I don't "rate professors" but I felt the need to rate Professor Wan. First of all she is an amazing teacher and an calculus encyclopedia. She is willing to help you with any concerns if you put in the effort. Of course calculus is difficult but she made it easier for everyone with apprehension. If you're gonna take calc sign up for her class!!!
Wan is very kind and will help during her office hours. Lots of online hw/quizzes but are fairly easy. Drops lowest hws and quizzes and replaces final grade with final exam(if you do well). Lectures are super boring and packed-you wont leave early. On top of that you will have to teach yourself some of the material due to lack of explanations.
Wan is considerate when it comes to her students. Definitely the best professor I have had. She will push back due dates if need to. She makes calculus much easier to understand by explaining the problems thoroughly. There is a lot of homework given in her class, but if you show up for lecture and take notes, you will be fine.
If you have to take calc, take her!! She explains it like youre 5. Only bad thing is theres homework due every week (sometimes 2 sets) graded strict and for accuracy. Exams are same structure as reviews just different numbers. Gives most formulas. Very sweet lady. Calc sucks but she makes it bearable.
Very good professor.
Ms. Othman is an amazing teacher and in my opinion is the only reason I passed calculus 2. She is extremely caring, helpful and offers many chances to raise your grade with extra credit work. This is not a easy class but the amount of help she offers is amazing. She will replace your lowest test grade with the final. I highly recommend for 1242.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR FOR CALCULUS! SHE IS BETTER THAN THE TAYLORS! Even if you do bad, she offers a ton of extra credit. She is the best professor I've ever had. Seriously cannot recommend enough!
Wan does a great job in teaching students what they need to know for the class. There is a weekly homework but it does help understand the material. Study guides are given before tests that follow the real test pretty closely. Cheat sheets are also allowed on her exams.
explains things very well and also gives easy extra credit on each test that can bump up your grade by a whole letter. also make homework very easy with her "hints" she provides for each assignment.
As someone who really struggled with calc2 before, she makes things very concise and easy. Though the tests can be a bit hard, she provides plenty of extra credit that will boost up your grade. Multiple webworks due every week (sometimes every other day), but if you do it along with the test reviews, you should get a good grade.
Every test has an extra credit assignment to go with to get 10 extra points. Got consistent 80s on the tests but ended the class with an A. Often there would be two or three homeworks due at the same time, be sure to get started early.
Absolutely amazing professor. She makes the hard concepts seem easy. Had her for both Calc 1 and 2 and understood the classes clearly!
TAKE HER! She makes calc 2 simple and manageable. People say take the Taylors, but I think Wan is better. She is also forgiving and gives extensions on hw. Gives extra for almost every test. Final can become your final grade for the class or replace the lowest grade in the class. Bumps your grade considerably. Got an 82 on the final. PRACTICE for A
Good teacher overall. Tests are short but straightforward, and every test comes with extra credit. Great pace, pretty clear on all of her lectures.
I really enjoyed taking Calculus with her. I was super nervous because I'm not that good at math but her teaching style is great! She breaks everything down and goes really slow. She does practice tests before the test which are exactly like the test just with different numbers. I would totally recommend taking her if you have the chance!
Mrs. Wan was an amazing teacher! I had her class in the summer and it was online, but anytime I had a question about something I would just show up to her office hours and she would always have time to help. I would highly recommend taking her class if you need to take math 1241
She was a good professor for business calculus! Her tests are exactly like the test reviews but with different numbers. The only thing that irked me was she was go a few minutes after class is supposed to end and rush the ending, but other than that, she was such a great explainer for math. She went slow and that made it easier to understand.
Where do I start.. during this tough time Dr. Wan has been a blessing. There were times she extended assignments for the class and was very understanding about it. I could go on and on about how amazing of a professor she is. We had 4 exams + a final. The final replaced our lowest test grade. In conclusion, if you are able to take her TAKE HER!!!
She is a good Professor to take for math. If you are not really a huge fan of Math, I suggest taking it with her because she makes it easy to understand and it is not really a lot of work. Her explanation on problems is top tier!
BEST CALCULUS 2 TEACHER EVER. This was my second time taking this class and I thought she was amazing! Before class examples / algebra review parts are not required in our notebooks. NO TEXTBOOK REQUIRED. This saved me money, all you focus on is your notes, which you do buy ( . But overall amazing explainer, nice handwriting, and nice accent!
Take her for Calc 2. Zoom lectures are recorded and attendance is taken via not check quizzes. So you can skip a lecture as long as you watch it prior to the not check quiz. Tests are open book. She is is easy to get in touch with and will push back due dates if you ask.
Im not the best math student. This professor made Calc 2 a breeze though. Lectures are slow and precise, she breaks every step down and will go back and explain anything you need. Tests are open notes and the bulk of your grade comes from webworks. She is super nice and will give out solutions for test review that is very similar to the test.
Lectures based on the material. She explains and goes through each problem. Note checks and quizzes based on the material. She gave study guides that were super helpful on the tests, same for the final exam. Math isn't my strong suit but I was able to get by in this class easily. SUGGEST YOU TAKE IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH MATH.
Prof. Wan makes class really easy to understand. She explains everything really well and will answer any questions you have. She will also help you during office hours if you need it. Her tests are also super easy. She gives study guides that are super useful. Her notes and guided so as long as you know how to read you can easily pass this class.
The class starts off easy but then she starts assigning homework before she has even taught the lesson. She gives out group projects and expects you to teach each other. Does not accept late work and is not a nice grader. Her tests would average around 60/70 because she doesn't explain things thoroughly & expects you to understand it after one day.
Prof Wan is the most average teacher and Stat 1222 is the most average class. Nothing exciting will happen ever in this class. If you go to the lectures and do the practice homework you will most likely get an A or high B in this class. Nothing to run home on just very okay
Everything went downhill after the first exam. She began assigning group projects that she wouldnt give us any time for. Also had in class activities where we were never allotted in class time for. Makes things MUCH more difficult than they actually are. If you email her, be prepared to wait a week for a response. Overall not that great
It started off easy then she just started cramming work on topics we only went over one day. Projects where your classmates have to teach each other since she didnt really cover the topic. Then she grades really hard. Surveys on how we feel but nothing changes. Realize it portal was a pain in the __. Pressure was on 1,000 but i did not fail.
I am not a math person but she was great at breaking things all the way to where anyone could understand. Her lectures are heavy and very lengthy but its worth it. You will have to watch the lectures and do notes in order to understand the homework. Overall, shes great.
So heavy on group assignments , in a class that is entirely online, and deadlines that do not make sense. This is probably more of an issue with the class being all online, but there seems to be no adaption from the professors part to make online class accessible.
this is supposed to be an in person class, yet all of our learning is done via videos online. this isnt how i learn and if i knew this was the class structure i wouldnt have taken it. this is going to sabotage my grade. we spend the entire time in class working on constant group projects and are left to learn at home alone.
Professor Wan did not teach us herself, everything was taught by random teachers' lecture videos that did not properly correlate with the material on our Realizet assignments. Math does not need to have multiple group projects every week. We do a lot of global issues assignments which is totally fine and easy but has nothing to do with course.
She is very sweet but not an ideal professor. Gives us video lectures the day before class that are from other professors & makes us watch them so we are "prepared" for class. She does not teach us in class, just does the in class activities with us (which she goes over extremely quick). Tests become progressively more difficult. Don't recommend
Where do I even start... I don't think she has taught me a single thing all semester, it's all been from online videos that barely help. We do group projects every week, which is so unnecessary for a MATH class. She is a sweet person, but I would never take her as a professor again. An in-person class, but there is no teaching in the lecture room.
there is lots of hw and you learn through lecture videos before class
You learn through online videos and RealizeIt assignments. No actual teaching goes on in class. Most people do not show up to class and attendance really did not matter until the end of the semester. There were three group projects that were all fairly simple. Her test reviews are exactly like the tests.
Professor Wan was a great teacher. I have never been good at any sort of math, but she really made me understand it. Only had to go to class sometimes. There are a few group projects but besides that not too much work. Get her as a professor if you can
Pretty simple class. 4 tests and 3 group projects Practice tests are very similar to actual test questions. The tests themselves aren't too bad. The group projects are okay. She replaced the lowest test grade with the final and dropped 3 Canvas grades. Lectures are all short videos. Basically another Excel class. Overall a pretty good professor.
She is an amazing Professor. Truly cares about her students.
Uploads notes to every chapter and you fill them in during lecture. Uploads that same lecture to canvas so you can review after class, BUT sometimes she does random poll ev questions for xc on exams. No quizzes, homework is mc on canvas. Exams are very similar to the study guide uploaded. Show up, do your work and you will pass!
goes way too fast, sometimes cant explain questions asked, class average for second test was a 60, doesnt reply to emails within 24 hrs like described, study guides are nothing like the test questions asked.
Fantastic. She is well spoken and explains concepts well, she doesn't go too fast, homework assignments (10-15 questions) once or twice a week, a couple of tests which have solid study guides before them, and note checks once or twice a week (2-3 questions). She's energetic and pretty consistent with explaining content and answering questions.
Very easy class. just dont fail
Great lectures that help you understand the material. Tests/homework are all multiple choice which is awesome. Also uploads her lectures online which is super handy.
Moves very fast and expects you to learn a lot on your own. I dont think her class is set up very well or for students success shes nice tho. Attendance isnt required but she makes you submit note checks weekly that you follow along with in class. 4 exams plus a final all are counted. Shes making us take a 4th exam three days before the final.
She is super nice and understanding, attendance is not mandatory but you do need to take notes every day for the notes check but she posts the lectures on canvas in case you miss a day.
I hate math and I HIGHLY recommend Prof Wan. She's super understanding and gives 5 extra days for homework assignments without late penalty. Practice tests are EXACTLY like the real tests. Attendance isn't mandatory and she posts recorded lectures online, but you'll be confused if you skip class because she explains things really well in class.
She talks extremely too fast during class. Doesn't really teach during class, she just expects you to finish homework and show up and know everything. Does gives five day grace period after homework is due but if you get behind, it's gonna be pretty hard to catch back up. Overall, she's a good communicator and willing to help you out if needed.
Weekly note checks and homework which is heavy but not awful, not doing them will drop your grade a few points. Class is 40% waited on 4 tests, 10% each. Final is worth 30%. She moves extremely fast, and covers a TON of material. Expect to learn a lot on your own. If you do not test well, skip this professor. 70% of grade is tests.
Professor Wan is a nice professor and shows she cares. She moves quickly through the lessons so you must keep up. Class is test heavy, which has been a challenge for me. On the second test the class average was a 66, which I think says more about the professor than the students personally. She could support the success of her students better.
This course is better for independent learners because we only used Realizit and videos from other instructors. The material was a lot to learn but easy to understand. There were many group projects which were a hassle and graded unfairly. Most of the stress from this class was from my group. Only take this class if there are no better options.
Professor Wan is very sweet and understanding. She does a good job at making sure everyone understands concepts in the class. Extra credit question are given during class prior to each test and is helpful. Lectures are recorded so you can go back and watch if you are confused on something.
She was okay. It was pretty clear that she did not plan the class very well, as I felt like the workload and due dates were very inconsistent, making this class very frustrating. However, her class was really easy and she records her lectures, so that made her class better. She's also really good at answering questions.
I loved this professor so much! She used guided notes we could print out to follow along in class. Everything that was on the test was solemnly based on those notes. The material taught was very clear and overall, if you attend all the classes then this class shouldn't be too tough. Very calculator based!!!
her teaching during class was very easy to understand, and she lets you replace your lowest test grade with your score for the final
STAT 1222 was an easy class and the professor was great. Grading suddenly turns really strict when it comes to group projects, but other than that she is super lenient. I highly recommend taking this class.
Professor Othman is a great teacher. She organizes all of her lessons into Excel sheets that you can edit as you go throughout the lesson. I learned how to do some really cool functions not just related to statistics from her class. She does grade the group projects quite a bit stricter than the other assignments but the class is fairly easy.
While Prof. Wan is kind, her teaching style is often ineffective. Group projects are difficult and graded harshly, and all lectures are given outside of class using another professor's videos. The videos and in-class examples don't coincide with the RealizeIt homework. Otherwise, she gives lots of extra credit and provides excellent test prep.
Videos on Canvas and going to lectures helped. Grading on group projects can be harsh, like she will read you. She's helpful and nice, except for that one time she wouldn't let my friend make up her test when her uncle literally just died, so that was not cool of her.
Good class for statistics. Realizeit assignments for homework, in class assignments + group projects for each module. It's fairly easy to get a grade, but she grades projects super harshly so make sure you ask questions throughout the projects. Practice tests + grace periods for homework. Practice tests are very similar to real tests and the exam.
The group projects can be unclear with the directions, it was hard to do very well on those, but as far as the homework make sure you watch the videos because they lay everything out so clearly and made the homework so much easier. Also, there are practice tests for the exams that are the same as the test. She of extra credit toward the end too
I enjoyed this class, it wasn't very difficult. As long as you go to class and do the homework you'll pass. Only thing I did not appreciate was that group projects were graded super harshly. Overall if you need to take this class you'll do fine.
Great prof. Ms. Wan had everything laid out pretty clearly. The only thing that confused me was the group projects but just ask questions. Gave extra credit towards the end, and provided graded practice tests that had the same questions as exams. Make use of office hours. She was kind to me and emailed quickly. Not a lot of homework.
This was taken during the summer so it was fast-paced, and there were a lot of time-consuming assignments but Dr. Wan provided great videos to help with learning. I did not like the number of group projects however overall, if you do the assignments you will do good on exams.
She's a good teacher but there's a lot of information to learn. Also be ready to learn how to do excel.
Honestly, this class itself is already hard, in my opinion she made it harder. I've always been pretty decent at math and could work my way through it and be confident in the end, but this class was TOUGH. I feel like prof Wan is good in a way, but also low key condicending. BEWARE. SHE WILL NOT SLOW DOWN.
Class moves very quickly & it can become easy to fall behind, so try to attend. Lectures are recorded & are accessible on Canvas. Be prepared to use Excel. Tests don't have you solving problems as much as learning formulas. Lots of group work. TAKE NOTES: tests are worth a lot of your grade. A kind teacher but teaching style can be vague at times.
Professor Wan is effective and nice, but she moves super fast and all of the instruction is done outside of class. When you come to class, she expects you to have already watched the videos and do the realizeit before hand, so if this isn't your style I don't recommend it. Sometimes I felt stupid when I asked her questions, but she's nice I guess.
This course is not too hard if you study. It was a little hard to keep up with the lectures at times, but she always records them so you can refer back if you need it. She was also very generous with extra credit. Study guides were extremely helpful for the tests, so use that. Overall, very effective professor, would take again! She slays.
there is a lot of homework but if you do it and study utside of class you will pass. also have a good group
Was a difficult class but there were plenty of resources. Professor Wan moves extremely quickly so if you don't get something, you will most likely have to watch a video about it at home. Lots of memorization, especially when it comes to Excel. Would not recommend this class if you have a busy schedule. Other than that, it was a good class.
She was a nice person but literally every class it was all lecture and we would move so fast. It seemed super easy at first but as we went on it was terrible. We had so many tests and it was difficult. Also, she was hard to reach out to, I emailed multiple times and got no response.
Professor Wan makes statistics as easy and forgiving as possible, my only complaint is sometimes lectures would go past the scheduled end time. Statistics is already a challenging class its made much easier by professor Wan's fair and forgiving grading.
Professor Wan made this class very obtainable to do well in, as long as you are willing to put in the necessary work. All the lecture videos are posted on canvas, and she does a great job of working through problems. Stat gets difficult at the end, and she is very helpful with the resources she provides for assistance.
She is very kind and understanding. The class has a test and group project for every unit. She records every lecture incase you miss a day. She provides extra credit through poll everywhere.
I enjoyed this class with Professor Wan. She will give you lots of homework and group projects. Her test are pretty easy she gives you practice exams that are very similar to the actual test. I recommend watching the videos she provides for the homework and attending class as she does poll everywhere pretty often. She also grades the projects heavy
Appears nice, however, she will speed through lectures, won't slow down, and grades extremely hard on pollev. If she only gives one pollev and you get it wrong she will put in a 60/100 in the grade book. If you go to talk to her about your grade she will just tell you not to worry about it. Easy material, just a bad teacher.
Dr. Wan is amazing she goes slowly through the lectures and leaves all the information on the board if you need to refer to it later. Most of your work is done in class except one assignment which can take a lot of time. She is nice in class and teaches very well. This is the first math course I've gotten an A in! Group projects are tough though.
Overall, she wasn't bad. She gives a lot of homework through Realizit. However, she gives a 5-day grace period. I would HIGHLY recommend watching her videos as they make the Realizit a lot easier to understand. Also, if you email her, expect to hear back from her a month later. If you aren't willing to teach yourself don't take this class with her.
WAY too much work given, RealizeIt is the worst math website to use ever. She seems nice until u need her help and then she's mean. She moves very fast, so you need to attend class, even though she doesn't take attendance. Tests make up most of your grade, so study. Don't bother asking her to slow down, she will scold you.
Professor Othman is a wonderful professor who really does want students to succeed. This class is not hard, as long as you actually pay attention in class and do the assignments outside of class. It is important and very helpful to take notes on the video lectures and work out the practice problems.
Overall, She wasn't bad. Doesn't feel like she's teaching, but rather talking in class. SHE DOES NOT GRADE ANYTHING ON TIME!!!! All your grades in Canvcas are updated automatically, but all your manual graded work will NOT be graded in a timely manner. 5-day grace period for your homework. Her practice tests are 95% the same as the actual tests.
TAKE HER CLASS! Don't listen to the bad reviews, this class is about how much effort YOU put in. She gives us so many resources to succeed plus extra credit for attendance and tests. The practice tests are pulled from the actual test. If this is a gen ed for you, I would highly recommend. I hate math but I liked this class, just the hw was hard.
She is a decent person, but teaching style is not great. Zooms through lecture content and is condescending and dismissive when you ask questions. Be sure to show up to class for the sake of your participation grade, watch pre-lecture videos, and complete RealizeIt the best you can because it's a big part of your grade.
Great professor. Most of the lectures and assignments were on Excel using functions, which she explains each step for. Very patient, though she can be kind of rude during class when a question is asked. Take the practice exams, because they are basically like the exams. Always complete the hw, projects, assignments, on time to not get behind.
As someone who isn't good at math, I can recommend this teacher. She's very nice and helpful and makes sure you understand and will work with you to ensure you succeed.
I actually enjoyed her. She takes her time to ensure everyone understands. 5 starsss
I'm not sure why she has bad ratings. Dr. Wan is honestly such an amazing teacher. She made this class easy to understand and always explained this very well. If you don't show up, she records and posts the lectures, but try to show up. Just do your part, and you're gonna pass. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Wan. 10/10
Prof. Wan is AMAZING! She cares about what she's teaching and wants you to succeed. Her lectures are thorough and will take the time to explain a topic. The practice tests she provides are taken from the tests, so if you put in the effort you should do great in this class.
Professor Wan was a good professor she was very knowledgeable on the topics she presented but when It came to grading and being up to date she was awful at it. It is now the end of the semester and she isn't even a quarter of the way done with grading assignments so you will never know what your up to date grade is.
Dr. Wan is a very easy teacher, she explains things clearly and gives A LOT of examples. I felt like she was going over things at a slow pace to make sure everyone understood. There are 5 tests including the final but if you do the Sample Test it's almost exactly the same as the test and you get extra credit.
Coming into College, I was worried about Math. But Professor Wan made the class easy for everyone. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but attending class was the best way to learn, even if she recorded the lectures. Tests were lifted from practice tests, and she's always easy to work with when you need something.
Professor Wan is literally such a wonderful professor! She's very sweet and understanding, from the start to the day of the final. Even though attendance is optional, I would still try to stay on top of watching lectures, because it's easy to get behind, which I was for a lot of the semester. Beware of late penalties on assignments!
Professor Othman's STAT1222 class takes effort, but the resources she provides like practice tests and Realizeit can really help. If you're willing to engage with the content, this class is manageable. unstuck AI was also useful for test prep.
She is such a great professor. She is very good at explaining the course material and is always open to any questions. Would recommend!
Her class is extremely easy, she's a great professor and her practice tests are a free way to do amazing on the actual tests. I could fall asleep and doomscroll the entire lecture and I would still pass with an A. Professor Wan is goated.
Really great professor. I was worried about this class coming into the semester, but Prof Wan has made it really manageable. It is smart to attend the lectures even though they are posted on canvas because of the Poll Everywhere attendance which is used for extra credit on tests. She gives practice tests which are like the actual tests.
The best professor that you could possibly have when it comes to teaching math in general. Not only does she record her lectures, but she also allows you to take practice exams that are nearly identical to the actual test. You also receive extra credit points for poll everywhere questions and taking the practice test. Super goated professor.
She was very helpful and easy to understand. While attendance is not mandatory I recommend you go because the lectures help a lot with the work.
I will say there is a lot of work for this class, but Professor Wan explains everything so well in class. Attendance is not mandatory, but you will miss out on group projects and the in-depth lectures. Professor Wan is always there to answer questions if you need help. Stats is 90% memorization, so just study.
Pretty good overall! Little-to-no accent so she's easy to understand. She's very kind and understanding. Gave us extra credit when we asked. The only reason I didn't make an A was due to my own lack of effort and motivation. If I'd tried even like 25% harder I would've been golden. She's great! Nothing bad to say
Amazing professor, very sweet and caring. Although attendance isn't mandatory, you should go she gives extra credit almost every class. THE ONLY complaint I really have is the final exam is worth 30% of your grade!!!! This is a lot of weight on the final which is cumulative and this will literally make or break your grade.
Absolutely an amazing professor, genuinely cares about your grade and gives extra credit on every test. If you do the bare minimum in the class you will be set up for success.
Her teaching style did not work for me at all, but I'm sure she is an amazing professor for others. Works through problems in class to teach concepts, homework outside of class too. You really have to pay attention in class and understand the topics to do well.
Professor Wan was a great professor! While the class material is hard, she showed her students support throughout the whole year. You will be good if you go to class and complete the weekly homework assignments (which are normally 1-2 a week).
4 exams+ final (exactly like the study guide). Do those and the assignments (notes check, hw) and you have an A. Posts zoom lectures on canvas but I would attend class regardless. Office hours are v helpful. She's so kind and helpful. Honestly the best professor ever!
I just want to say I passed STATS with a high B! She is an amazing professor fr! Funny, engaging, and genuinely cares! She will not let you fail. You can pass this class! Just show up, pay attention (bc you will get lost), ASK QUESTIONS!, and do the realizit because it also helps your grade (especially in the end 😉).
very good teacher and was quick to respond, but with only 3 tests in a semester long course, it was very test heavy. My single bad test grade made it impossible for me to pass the class by the end of the semester, which either way was not her fault.
Not worth the time and effort for an online summer class.
I took the 1222 Intro to stats class this semester. This has been a terrible semester for me. We had 25 assignments a week: Realzeit assignments, group projects, practice tests, lockdown browser tests, and individual submissions. It's a heavy workload class, so be ready, and if you struggle with math, then I do not recommend taking this class.
Worst professor I've had. Assigned 25–30 pointless tasks a week, mostly surveys that she never read, plus constant group projects where people stopped participating and you had to do all the work yourself or your grade suffered. Never graded until the last day, then nitpicked every detail, dropping my grade 7 points despite A's on all exams.
Took for a summer class. She was very caring and understanding. If you actually talk to her she is one of the nicest people I have ever met. If you put lots effort into the class you probably will get an A I mean it's 1100 after all.
Don't take, waste of time. Provides no feedback, lots of assignments every week. Most are completely pointless.
While she is nice, get ready for the worst class ever. Excel heavy, weekly Realizets which suck BUT DO THEM, Poll everywhere, group projects you can't pick your members. There is so much pointness busywork and group projects and assingments are nitpicked and will drop your grade a lot. TERRIBLE SLOW grader, and you won't know final grades for awhile
Professor Wan is super sweet. She does guided notes for lectures, but you do have to print them all out yourself. Overall the class was pretty easy, you get extra credit for getting poll everywhere questions right.
Goes awfully slow, attendance isnt mandatory and you can do fine just doing it yourself. Makes you print out your own notes every week though which is just annoying
Prof. Wan is a good person, she will work with you but only to a certain extent. Her class is pretty easy as long as you pay attention to lectures and don't miss class. Make sure you have a laptop though, otherwise it's hard, almost impossible, to do a lot of the assignments.
Don't take her.NOT CARING.Doesn't care if u fail.Takes forever to grade/ email back.Doesn't work with u.I Failed all exams because my memorization isn't good. so if u are good at math/excel, then don't worry bout it.
Professor Wan is genuinely really sweet, HOWEVER grading is very slow. Poll Everywhere is graded, so you can lose points even if you're present. Group projects are graded harshly, and there's an insane amount of assignments. Tests are fair since the practice exams are basically the same. Sounds scary right?? BUT she does give a lot of extra credit!
Nice but challenging. Doesn't care if you fail and only gave extra credit essay because lots of ppl begged at office hours. Group projects graded HARSHLY and 4 exams make up most of final grade with final. Show up for PollEverywhere and do homework!
