He's the best teacher I've had so far at SFCC.
If you visit him in his office he really tries to help.

my best math teacher so far, I only wish I had him for pre-calc and trig.
This is the BEST math teacher EVER. I hate math, but I didn't mind doing the homework or going to class. He explains EVERYTHING. Math has never been easier. You will walk out of class every day knowing exactly how to do the material. He's awesome.
The fairest and most helpful teacher I have ever had.
very helpful and through teacher. Do the assingnments and you are gaurenteed an "A"!
Also had him for MAC1105. Great teacher. Very fair and always willing to help. Made math a fun class (which most of the time it is not). Also covers material very well.
His class is the hardest class i've had yet and had no choice but to drop it. If you want a math teacher that will explain stuff clearly and not make you feel stupid for asking questions then don't take his class.
his class isnt that hard. he is just really picky on how he grades tests. if you do the worksheet he gives you before the test, the tests are pretty easy.
This guy is clear and straight forward, but he tries to make people look stupid. He gets a disgusted tone of voice when some people ask questions and he goes on about how he can't understand why people would miss a certain ? on test/quiz.
Everytime I visit him in his ofiice he is very friendly and helpful. Also, he is very straighforward in class, and tells you what you need to know. I like him and would take him again.
I really like his style of teaching. He's made some things clear that I never understood before. He is very easy to follow.
The class is not as hard as he makes it out to be. I dropped it and got an A in another teachers class. He is a mean teacher and doesn't care if you do not understand the material. If the whole class failed he wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
Mr. Bernard is a wonderful teacher. He does care whether or not his students pass the course. However, he does not believe in doing the work for you and that's why he assigns so much homework. I got an A in his class and would take him for others.
This guy got me through my fear of algebra. Has little tolerance for stupid questions, students being late, etc. Kind of an "old school" prof. Pleads with students to drop in his office for help.
Mr. Bernard is a great teacher, and I enjoyed his class. This is the first math class that I never skipped a day, which for me is saying a lot. He's very organized.
Good teacher for students wanting to continue in math. Formed a very good base for my mathematics classes. If your able to see him during his office hours it will prove very helpful.
Not a good teacher at all! He spells everything out for you but come test time he doesnt give you full credit on anything. I felt like I couldnt get about a C on anything in that class and he treats everyone like children.
if you're not a math major, then you will see that he is too hard and does not give enough help. I also think that the way he explains things is not at most regular math students level
I think Mr. Bernard is an AWESOME teacher, one of the best I've had in any subject. He's clear in class, and very helpful when you go to his office. I would recommend him for any class he teaches.
If you want a serious teacher he is the one. He sometimes makes you feel dumb. Do your homework and study you might make a "C".
Definitely not an easy teacher, but recommended if you want to learn, instead of if you just want to get a credit. He's become a little more tolerant of stupid questions, it seems, but still obviously doesn't like being asked them. Very good at explaining the material. LOTS of homework.
Great teacher, very clear and highly recommended. I am enjoying this math class.
Really nice, easy going with little pressure but keeps it real and will tell you if you need to beef up to make it in the class. Note: grades tough and likes you to use a lot of detail to answer problems/questions/labs.
Hands down the best math teacher i've ever had. Very thorough, consistent in his methods, and he has a gift for explaining difficult materials. Mostly though, i liked how he prepared us for the tests. He gives you an old test to study, and the questions are very similar, no surprises.
Mr. Bernard is the most awesome teacher!!! Math is a very hard subject for me and i passed. He explains things out and gives examples of everything. Math is a hard subject to teach but he has no problem with that!!! I would recommend him for any class he teaches.
best math teacher ever...he was a sub for Birdsall for 2 days and it was the highlight of the semester for that class! he is SO COOL-has a great way of explaining things, makes you feel invited to engage in dialogue, answers questions without making you feel like a complete retard. Fabulous teacher-who could ask for anything more? :) take him!!
I didn't feel that he explained the material very well. He would try to explain things in circles. Also expected you to know things from previous classes, even if you weren't taught that. Seemed kinda short at times. If you are able to teach your self take this class.
Great prof. Really explained hard material well. Also real helpful when I was sick and had to miss some material. Take him!!!
Bernard is ok he is hard to follow and he grades tests like the math police.if your cell phone goes off he blows up for no reason.I have gotten Cs and Ds on all tests and the quizes are just as hard.the homeowrk folders need to add more then 4 points to the test also the hw is long and hard to follow.if you get the solution manual it helps alot
Tests and quizes are hard. Not easy but he's better than alot of the math teachers at Santa Fe.
I had Bernard for college algebra and trig, and I'm taking him for calculus next semester. He's organized, explains material well, and very helpful if you're having trouble. He gives practice tests that are lot like the real tests. I absolutely recommend this professor!
This is a great teacher! More teachers should follow his structure. Great organization skills, respectful of students concerns, covers real world math problems and truely cares about teaching so students really learn. However, be aware, his class is not easy. A lot of homework and attention to detail required to get good grades. Recommended.
He is an excellent math teacher, I will definitly take another class with him!! He explains everything well, he loves for the class to ask him questions and laugh when he tries to crack cheesy jokes. Definetly take him you will remember what he teaches you.
Excellent math teacher. Very clear and relates different topics to each other to help you understand. Uses excellent visual aids in every class. Does not like tardiness, cell phones, or sleeping in class. If you do all the HWs for each section, you get +4 on each test. Take home quizzes are exactly like the tests. I finished with a 103%.
Very good teacher, excellent teaching style. He's very careful to make sure people are learning. Hard class if you do not to the homework. And he sometimes has trouble responding to questions, because 95% of the questions seem retarded to him.Hes Psychotic about cellphones. Absolutely insane. Other than that, good teacher if you want to learn math.
I hate math!!! he makes me not want to skip class. this professor is excellent...hes a little harsh to people who act immature, but other than that he wants you to pass and does all that he can to help. turn ur cell phone off in class...he will lecture and lecture about cell phones if one goes off!! plus, he gives you extra credit for doin the HW
Great teacher, great class. I've learned a lot. Thanks!!!
Would recommend for a teacher. Goes step by step on problems, takes time for questions on homework every class period. Gives worksheets that are very similar to tests, and gives extra points on tests for doing HW. Don't get lazy, and you should do fine..
Highly recommended for any math class. Second class with this professor and always learn. His attention to detail in his teaching style still amazes me. Keep good class notes, do homework and spend quality time on the worksheets (practice tests) and you will do fine in his class. He really cares about students doing well his his class.

Great teacher. Very helpful and organized. Gives extra credit for turning in homework.

Mr Bernard is good teacher.I took his class in the summer so everything was really fast.At first I thought he was too hard on us,but as time went by going at the faster pace you had to learn it quicker so I learned a lot. My grade wasn't that good in the class but I dont really do good one test.but overall I learned a lot,and I would recommend him!

Some of the comments written on this page are completely bogus! Mr. Bernard is one of the nicest professors I've ever had, especially for a math professor. He lays everything out clear as crystal, practically spoon-feeds you the info. If you do your homework and study the notes, there is no reason you'll get a bad grade!
Prof goes out of his way to help. I feel that I learned a lot from his Trig class. His grading was more than fair, and quite frankly could have been much stricter, like many other teachers. The people who say bad things about him are just angry because they slacked off and they didn't pass. He shows absolutly no bias towards different people.
Great Teacher!!
I took this class during the summer so we, as a class unit, only had 6 weeks to get through all of the material. This professor did an outstanding job despite a lousy book and a time crunch. All of the material was learned. I feel a sense of accomplishment that will not be soon forgotten and I hope to be in another of his classes soon.
Math is hard and he did his best to help.
This teacher definitely knows what he is doing, but I didn't prefer his teaching style. I felt that he was a little condescending, but was more than willing to be there for extra help. I ended up dropping his class and taking it again in the summer. However, I was grateful for the "real-life algebra" concepts he taught in his class.
2nd class with this prof, learned a lot both times. Blackboard skills make note taking easy. Points for attendance, extra credit for hw, practice tests just like real tests, helpful and friendly. Does not tolerate immature behavior or cell phones. Old school type of professor.
This class is not for someone that has limited time to search for trig answers. Don't get me wrong he might be a good teacher for some of you, but I attend UF and teachers like this wouldn't last a semester because everyone is tying to make A's not C's not pin the tail on the donkey.
Amazing dude. Down to earth great professor. Recommend taking him.
Very Helpful Professor..Does not make you do homework..no quizes..gets you very prepared for tests...makes understanding math easy...puts a real life spin on everything to explain relevance.. would take any math class with this professor..knows his stuff...great teaching style..old school..hates cell phones in class..turn them off..
Mr. Bernard is a great teacher, he is intent on his students doing well, and only wants you to show effort and a willingness to do well in his class. He is in his office nearly everyday, and before and after classes. He gives extra credit for homework, gives keys with the problems worked out for ALL tests and worksheets.
He was a good teacher. You can't be lazy in this class... your effort has everything to do with your grade. But I recommend him. Spend a lot of time on the worsheets.
The man is an amazing professor who actually cares about the students who care about the class. It's a math class so unless your amazing at math come to class everyday. He offers extra points for attendance and homework.
WB is extremely condescending to students every chance he gets. He acts like his students are in pre-school when he talks to them. I learned to keep my mouth shut so I would not get in trouble with administration. Tests are usually same format as practice test.
Mr. Bernard is a GREAT teacher!!! He explains everything clearly and is a great lecturer. He spends 15 minutes of class going over homework that anyone has questions on. As long as you put forth an effort, do the homework he assigns, and ask questions, you will learn a lot in this class. I learned to actually LIKE trig. after taking his class!
He is an easy teacher if you do all your homework and worksheets.
GREAT TEACHER!..Very nice and helpful. Really cares about the students understanding and will slow it down if necessary. Favorite math teacher I have had. I RECOMMEND THIS CLASS!.. !
I love Mr Bernard. EXCELLENT teacher and i am terrible in math. He explains everything thoroughly, do your homework even though he doesnt collect it. Overall easy class. Im taking him for MAC1105 in the fall!!
I learned a lot in Bernard's class this summer and am looking forward to trig. He's helpful and sympathetic to student's concerns. HW is extra credit!
I didn't like that way he taugt he thinks theat most students have seen stuff likr this before and goes thru material quickly. I am generally an a student and i am borderline B/C in this class. I WILL NEVER TAKE HIM AGAIN!!!
He's a nice guy and a great teacher. Calculus is not as hard as I thought it would be. I recommend this teacher.
Bernard is one of the best math teachers I have ever had.He walks you through the material.Attendance and labs account for a good portion of grade so that helps if you are struggling in class. He is always available, always helpful. If you have an F avg going into the final, and score a 75%; he will give you a C for the class.Recommend taking him
He's a good teacher. Just be sure you keep up with the homework. I did not pass the class because I didn't put in the work. I'm taking him again next semester.
Mr. Bernard is the greatest math teacher at SFCC. I took him for Trig and I liked him and his teaching style so much that I took him for Calc. His lectures make learning math easy, and after taking his classes, I actually enjoy math now. I would DEFINITELY recommend him! Thanks, Mr. Bernard!
this guy talks on forever if you dont raise your hand does give out helpful worksheets and his tests are hard dont take this teacher if you dislike math you will hate it if you take him
he is very nice and gives out worksheets that you have a week to work on that are just like the tests. you pretty much just take notes im good at math but you have to go to this class everyday to pass.
Very good quality. Gives points for regular attendence. Gives practice test similar to real test and goes over it before the real test. Do the HW everyday and you'll do fine in this class. Drops lowest test grade to replace with final exam grade.
Took this class Spring 2007, it was a good class... he teaches it well so you'll have to come to class. To understand the material just go to class, do the homework, and worksheets he gives out.
Great teacher. I failed this class twice before with other teachers and his class is set up so that there is no way you can't pass unless you either don't go or don't do the work. He gives worksheets that are basically the tests and goes over in class and is always available for help. Great teacher!
This teacher is hard, if you hate math and you take him then make sure you do all the work and worksheets! I always felt stupid if I asked a question in his class also.
If all you need is to pass one class, this guy is fine. He basically goes through the material really quick, then teaches to the test. If you struggle in math, I don't recommend him. He acts really nice but if you miss a class or ask him a question he will consistently demean you and make you feel like an idiot. Worst math experience ever.
I agree with everything the person below said. Very rude and demeaning teacher- makes you feel like an idiot if you ask a question. He's been teaching WAY to long and needs to give up. If you are good in math- go for it. But for most people who are required to take it- I suggest looking for a better teacher!
I took this professor for College Algebra. I thought that the class was moderatley difficult but as long as you study the work sheets that he hands out it should be quite easy. Home work was not mandatory but I would suggest that you try it because in math if you do not use it then you will not understand it.
Pros - clear explanations, practice worksheets, good notes. Cons - EXTREMELY condescending, sometimes oversimplifies problems, throws curveballs on tests. Took him for trig in summer A. Started out saying he was easygoing but became very picky grading tests. Wouldn't take him for summer again, crams too much info into 4 tests.
Great Teacher! Tooks him for summer a, alot of material covered.. but thats what you sign up for when you take a summer class. Gives out handouts that are practically replicas of the test. Not the easiest class, but clear. Nice guy, would def take him again.
Though it was fast-paced I learned a lot in this class. We went through sections pretty quickly but the practice tests really helped so doing them was crucial. The homeworks aren't mandatory but he sometimes uses some homework questions on tests so that also helps. Overall nice guy and i recommend him.
this was the worst teacher he will talk on and on throughout the class did not interact with students all he did was talk and write and if you did aska question he will get annoyed and say didnt you see how i just did the problem...and hardly anyone asked questions don't take this teacher I've had plenty of math teachers and he was the worst
Tests are easy if you actually do and study the worksheets - they are exactly like the tests, he just changes the numbers. Doesn't collect homework which is a + for me. You can replace lowest test grade with the final also. Enjoyed this class.
best teacher to take. explains at a basic level and shows every step. Nobody in my class failed . He challenges you to understand concepts more than memorization of formulas. do the worksheets like it was a take home final that determines you final grade
I took this class over the summer .He gives you worksheets to do, but it will help you a lot on the tests. He doesn't play around, he teaches you exactly what you need to know for the class and to help you prepare for the classes after this one. He is the best trig teacher in SFC. No teacher can teach trig as well as he does in this college.
he can only teach people who have had trig before. Everyone who hasn't ends up dropping. If you've never taken trig before dont take this dude, he sucks, you will drop. end of story
If you are a Honor student you might do well. If you are learning, he will crush you down. He complains about how much he gets paid very often. He also assumes you should know everything by the time you take one of his classes. He is really hard to keep up with. If you have him Good luck I had a B+ prior to taking his class and ended up with a W.
Hands down the best mathematics professor I have ever had. I had to drop his Trig class the first time I tried but that was my fault. I took him again and did the work and pulled an A. He gives you worksheets a week before the tests and knows the material he is teaching inside and out. He is also very helpful via email and office hours. Take him!
By far the best math professor I've ever had. His lectures are phenomenal. The way he explains things is so clear it made me excited to do math. He is extremely helpful both in the classroom and in his office. He puts a lot of effort into explaining his lectures. You can really tell that he enjoys his job.
As long as you do your work this is a very easy class. You get 6 worksheets to do the entire semester and he drops the lowest one. Tests come directly from these worksheets. Homework is not mandatory and if you just take notes and listen this class is easy. Not to mention he is always willing to help. Nice Teacher overall.
He is very clear and gives lots of notes. If you use what he gives you, and do HW, show up to class and show you have an interest in passing, you will. Tests are made from worksheets he hands out. He LOVES math, and can explain to anyone if you ask him. If I ever had to take math again, He would be my professor!!
Great professor, very clear, nice guy. I'm learning a lot...wish I'd had him for my algebra classes. His lectures are really well thought out so that students can learn if they do the work. I definitely recommend this prof.
Great math/trig teacher. Grades comprise of 5 or 6 ws (lowest one dropped) and test which come straight from the ws. Allows 4 absenses, penalizes on the 5th. If you are not good at math keep up with the hw assigned. Overall good prof.
Highly recommend. One of the best math teacher's ive had. Lets you know exactly whats expected, and willing to help if you need it.
One of the best teachers i ever had. If you do the hw you'll pass every test with above 90.
very strict almost rude at times yet he is very helpful. he explains things well and be sure to remember every little detail. he hands out ws a week or so before the test, keep these, they are your key to pass the exam. ha, they are the exam basicly, just diferent #'s. i plan on taking him again in the fall. if you want to learn math, take him
free points for attendance, free points for the worksheets (takehome), and tests are based on the worksheets. I just payed attention and did the hw and got a B; i didn't even bother studying for the tests b/c the hw and ws covers it well. but...if you ask what he considers a dumb question, he responds as if you're an idiot / will embarass you.
Helpful. Easy to understand.
I really like his teaching style. He is very clear and seems to actually enjoy being in class. So far this has been a very positive experience.
My opinion is that this teacher is TERRIBLE. I am not a strong math student and his way of teaching was the worst possible for me. I would say if you can catch on to math pretty well, go for it, but if you struggle with math STAY AWAY.
I wouldn't say he's hard but very challenging. He wants to ensure you understand the logic. Do the worksheets and hw. I recommend that you seek help immediately when you don't get it. I probably would have done okay had I seeked help sooner. He is fast paced, so you do need to understand intermediate algebra. He is nicer outside class than in it.
He is the WORST math teacher EVER!!!!! I got a 100 and 98 in both my math classes prior to him and in his class I'm almost positive I am NOT passing! He says he is there to help but makes you feel like an idiot for asking questions! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! I love math but he made it so hard for me to learn!!
This is a great professor who does what he can to help. I appreciate his clarity and I understand math better now than I ever did before. Thanks, Mr. Bernard
He's a good teacher and knows what he's talking about. Attendance is a must if you plan on passing the course. NO HOMEWORK!! Except a few worksheets. Tests aren't hard as long as you know the material. He drops the lowest worksheet grade and the final can replace your lowest test grade.
Prof. Bernard is a very good teacher. He has been teaching for a long time and knows what he's doing. He is clear, helpful and understanding. He loves math and makes it easier than it is for most people. He is very fair. I got an A in his class, and all I had to do was pay attention in class and occasionally practice. I would strongly recommend him
okay hate the book, but i'm told there be a new one next sememester. now this guy does know his stuff but i just couldn't get him half the time. he does go fast and his worksheet are rough so get help seriously Alg has always been easy for me, but this class has been kicking my butt. half of my class drop fyi.
This professor is more partial to the guys in the class. He will make you feel like a idiot if you ask a question. He gives the same speech over and over again about homework question, yet makes you feel stupid when you bring something up. Very condescending person. If you are not math minded do not take him.
Three words...DO NOT TAKE!!! I'm great at math and I got a C in his class. He marks off points on your test for stupid things. If the line on a graph isn't strait, he'll take off like 5 points...He does know his stuff, but he teaches as if you should already know what he is talking about...You are taking a risk if you take him.
Terrible teacher! Do not take him! He teaches like you should know the material. If you don't know it & ask about it, he makes you look like an idiot. He gives you all of the easy material in class (which isn't graded) & all the hard material to do at home (which is graded). DO NOT TAKE HIM! You will be sorry if you did!
Mr. Bernard is an excellent Maths teacher. Yes he is harder than some of the other teachers, and that is because he wants us to really understand. 6 worksheets which he drops the lowest grade, 3 test and a final plus the final can replace your lowest test grade. Extremely helpful outside class and not condescending. Great teacher.
Mr. Bernard is an extremely good teacher. He wants everyone to do well and is very helpful outside of class. He is not condescending as others say. He gives 6 worksheets which he drops the lowest grade and 3 tests and the lowest grade can be replaced by the final. He seem hard because he wants his student to understand the concept.

Mr. Bernard is an excellent teacher. He is very helpful outside of class and is not condescending. He gives 6 worksheets, 3 tests and a final. The lowest worksheet test is dropped, the lowest test grade can be replaced by the final. If you don't understand the material, he helps outside of class. Excellent teacher who gives help outside of clas
Mr. Bernard is an excellent teacher. People think he is hard because he is a good teacher who makes you think about Maths. He is very helpful outside of class, and he is not condescending. 6 worksheets, which he drops the lowest grade and 3 test and a final. He wants his students to succeed and will do his best to work with you. Excellent teach
I am really glad I got Mr. Bernard this semester for algebra because I didn't learn anything in my earlier classes. He makes difficult topics seem manageable. He's friendly and seems to like his job. I would definitaly recommend him to anybody who wants to learn instead of just pass.
One of the best Math Professors I've ever had. He has been teaching for many years and really knows his stuff. He knows his lectures and always finishes them on time. He give a wroksheet before every test with the same types of questions that are on the test. He's a great teacher, if you want to understand math take his class.
He is a challenging professor but knows his stuff. He is very willing to see students in office hours and will take the time to explain difficult topics. I can't wait to take him for Trig!
Great teacher! The class is somewhat challenging, and you must do the worksheets to do good on the test. If you need help on anything go to his office hours he is the most helpful teacher I have ever had!
Hard grader...takes off lots of points for little mistakes. However, he is a great teacher. Very clear in his lectures. Homework isn't mandatory but you must do the homework to do well on the worksheets and exams. Final is pretty easy...just study the old exams and know how to do the problems.
didnt really like this teacher. moved too fast on all subjects.
This teacher rates himself. He is too arogant and will make you feel stupid if you ask a question, or if you ask him to repeat himself. The only time he seems willing to help is if you talk to him about dropping/withdrawing from his class. He laughs at questions that he feels are beneath him.
I absolutely loved Professor Bernard. I took him for Summer A Trig and while the class definitely moves incredibly fast, if you stay on top of your work and take advantage of the fact that he really wants to help you succeed you can do fine in the class. He's a great guy who just wants to see his students succeed
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! Trig was a breeze thanks to Mr. Bernard!!! One of the most clear and concise teachers I have ever had... will definitely be taking him again if possible!!!
Very good, very nice and very helpful. I learned a lot this summer in trig. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
HORRIBLE. Way too fast and made you feel dumb if you asked a question.
I started very bad with my grades since I didnt keep up with homework and because I havent study math over 10 yrs. This professor was always willing to help! You need to keep up with hw so you dont make dum questions and get his simpaty of "trying hard student". I got a B+ on his class. I really recommend him!!
He's hard but great! You will be very well prepared for your future classes. Dont expect an easy A, but if you work hard, email, show up at office hours, etc, then an A is an achievable grade. By far one of the best math professors in the dept.
Professor Bernard knows his stuff. He is a great teacher but it is a difficult class. His tests are short so know the material from the worksheets he provides. The worksheets are tough but the tests are easier than them and strongly reflect them. I would recommend him but getting an A will be tough. You can def get a B. Do the work and study. GL
Prof. Bernard is a decent teacher. I am an excellent math student and he made this class difficult for me. Pay attention, attend every class or you will be lost. When he gives you a worksheet, start it that day. DO NOT wait until the last minute. He doesnt answer HW questions in class. Decent teacher if you are good at math already.
I sucked at math prior to his class. He makes sure you understand the work and if you don't he advises you to utilize his office hrs. I took the pilot section so hw and quizzes were online. There are 3 in class test. Lots of opportunity for EC & if higher, he replaces your lowest test with your F.E grade. Class is madatory.
Bernard is a good teacher. He knows the material well and explains in the most clear way possible. His tests are similar to his worksheets. I did not do any homework assignments in his class and pulled a B+. He has been teaching for a long time therefore gets annoyed by simple mistakes. But you will learn trigonometry.
Nice guy and knows his stuff, but jee wiz he is hard. I had to withdraw from the class. If you aren't a math person, don't take him!
bernard is definitely one of the better math professors at santa fe. The course in general is hard but he does try to make it easier by giving you practice problems and tells you what kind of questions are on his tests. he does offer some extra credit but it is hard to get he is kind of rude so be prepared for that but overall i would recommend him
bernard is the man. i wish he was my instructor for every class i ever had to take. he's not easy, but he is easy to understand. no one explains things better, no one. for the love of god, take bernard.
This teacher is not for students who aren't natural math students. If you have trouble in math or feel uncomfortable doing math then do not take this teacher. I missed one class and missed and entire chapter. The notes are all over the place and he gives you the easy examples and leaves the harder questions for the hw for you to figure out yourself
He's an amazing mathematician, but I found his classes very dry and boring. He isn't great at answering questions, but he works with you on your grade at the end of the year. Be prepared to take this class VERY seriously.
Mr. Bernard was/is witty, and his class was very easy to follow. He is very clear, and generous with his grading, due dates for worksheets, and attendance policy. He's always well-dressed, and is very professional. I highly recommend!
Great professor. If you have any questions, it's better to go to his office hours. He can really explain to you whatever you don't understand. In class time, he would like to get through what he has to say in his short amount of time to do it. He grades fairly, and helps you as much as possible to succeed... You just need to apply yourself.
Bernard expects everyone to think mathematically like him. His class is very structured and organized and he was very helpful during his office hours. However, if people asked him questions in class he would act like they were stupid. If you want to really understand math, take him. If you are just doing it for a credit, reconsider.
Warren wants to help you learn but you must take advantage of email and office hours. I highly recommend him if you want to learn and understand mathematical concepts. His enthusiam for the subject is contageous. Lecture are well organized and structured. By far one of the best professors at Santa Fe and easily THE best math professor.
Best teacher ever at Santa Fe!!! His teaching method is well structured, brilliant, and highly effective. I am not saying his class is easy, no it's not, but just follow his guidelines and you'll succeed in math. Those in my class who complained about him were the ones who were too lazy to do the homework as he recommended. duh?!
After taking his class, I wanted ALL the other Santa Fe students to use his teaching method: he writes down the highlights from the last chapter on the board prior to class, then goes over homework, starts a new chapter, then applies the concepts just learned with two or three examples. Simple, yet very effective. TAKE HIM!
This teacher is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. He wants you to learn the concepts not put them to memory. He really does teach and takes an interest in how you are learning. If you come to class and pay attention you should be fine. Amazing teacher. Everyone should take take his class, if you want to learn math.
I enjoyed the class and learned a lot. Bernard is one of the best profs at Santa Fe. If you come to class and do the work you can get a good grade. He is good at explaining difficult topics.
Methodical and organized. Very clear, tells you exactly what you need to do. I would definitely recommend him. HW is not collected but don't fall behind. 3 tests + a final exam.
Great teacher! Do homework if you want to pass. 3 tests with 2 worksheets before each test. The only math professor I have ever understood! I think I'll end up with a high C. hhahaha
Great professor! Very clear and helpful. I was really struggling halfway through the semester and was afraid I wouldn't pass. He gave me advice on what I could do to improve my grade and assured me that I could still pass. He gave me the confidence I needed to work harder and I ended up passing the course. Hard material, but great prof!
He is a good teacher, instructions are very clear and he tells you exactly what you need to do to PASS but that for no reason means that this class is in anyway easy. He actually makes the tests and worksheets pretty difficult. To the point that if you can, you should find someone else to take.
Bernard has to be one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He is clear & organized, and he wants to help you succeed. If you want to actually learn, take him!
Awesome professor. Very clear and organized. Teaches class very well and is very enthusiastic about math. Prof. Bernard is very helpful and makes the class interesting and makes students want to learn. I would recommend him to ANYONE. He's the best math professor I've ever had.
Very good teacher. If you go to class and pay attention its very hard not completely comprehend the material. The way the labs are set up along with the review days really prepare you for the tests
I have several close friends who were incredibly excited for me to take Bernard. Maybe I caught him on bad days or my expectations or were too high, but he wasn't the teacher I felt had been described. He is a pretty adequate teacher though not incredibly encouraging. Go to class, don't text, do homework. You'll flourish in the class.
Excellent teacher. His office hours are really helpful to talk about any issue that you can have while you are doing homework or studying for a test.
He knows his trig. Helpful when you ask for it. Has review packets that are very similar to the test. Fair grader. Engages students.
Warren is a great person and an even greater teacher. He has been teaching for decades at SF and he knows exactly what hes doing. He is extremely intelligent and gets his points across perfectly. He will help you until you understand the material. Don't mess around in his class, he will respect you if you give him respect. Take him.
Bernard was a very smart professor, but was also very condescending about it. He often answered questions by making you feel stupid about it. He spent less time explaining your question and more time telling you how trivial the answer. I think he knows what he's talking about and expects you to also.
I thought Mr. Bernard was an excellent instructor, and I learned a lot in his class. He's not easy, but he understands the material and conveys his understanding well.
Mr. Bernard was an excellent professor. He is able to make difficult concepts understandable. He's not easy, but if you put in the effort, you'll come away with a great understanding of the subject and be prepared for higher level courses.
Do not, do not, do not take this professor. If you are in GDC at SF, you might be pushed to take his Fall B Trig class but do not do it. He is an unfair grader, condescending, rude, and sexist teacher. He is very well educated on the material but, when asked a question, will answer very rudely. Many students fail his class.
Excellent professor, if I had I would take him again. Easy A.
